The first was because of a broken tooth but Dr. Sanchez recommended extraction rather than root canal, which I had done by another dentist when I got back to Florida. This second time was because my FL dentist wanted me to see an endodontist due due to extreme pain when eating something cold- love that Tillamook Ice Cream! Having had such a good first experience with Dr. Sanchez, I waited until I returned to LI to see Dr. Sanchez. He examined my x-rays and the tooth that my dentist had capped 6 weeks ago and also the adjoining teeth. He doubted that the capped one needed a root canal and after testing the adjoining teeth determined with reasonable certainty that one of them was the culprit due to a suspected hairline fracture and receding gumline which creates the opportunity for sensitivity. So this is the second time I was sent to him for possible root canal and the second time he advised against it. His opinion the first time turned out to be the correct course and I have no doubt that this one will be the same. I cannot recommend him enough for his friendliness, completely understandable diagnosis and plan for further wait and see. I have no doubt because of my experience with him and the other reviews that if I end up needing RC, he is the man! But the way the pain is diminishing I think he is correct and that the sensitivity will diminish over time. Do not hesitate to see him and his clean, modern office with all the latest hi tech equipment. He will only do the root canal if he is certain it is needed.

As the visits continued he minimized her thumb sucking, basically telling us that "most kids need braces" (using examples of his own children) and did not give information about what the possible outcomes of her not breaking this habit could be. We saw Dr. Tara for one visit due to availability issues, and she addressed the issue explaining that my daughter's jaw could be affected long term and there were other issues that might arise from continuing this habit, and also gave us information about options for helping her stop. Dr. Tara was informative, answered all of our questions, and was very direct about her concerns, which is what we were looking for. With Dr. Tara's guidance we were able to help her stop thumb sucking completely and her jaw structure was able to realign itself. Once Dr. Tara left the practice we stopped going there. My overall impression is that the office staff is very helpful, and accommodating. I would not recommend Dr. Gruber due to him not being up front about the risks we were facing and making light of something that was more in our control than he would have us believe.
