While visiting the area for business I became really concerned when I turned off the highway and into this particular Hampton Inn. Mainly because it appeared that the only restaurant or shop around was a Chuck E Cheese restaurant and heaven knows I didn't want to have to eat here every night for dinner (kids + pizza = nightmares). The interior of the Hampton is the same as all other Hampton Inn's but this one is undergoing a renovation. You would not know it from walking in so there is no disruption to your stay unless you want to use the pool or gym. They were offering accommodations so not to worry about that either. So where this Hampton stands apart from other Hilton properties is the customer service. Miss Sherry on the front desk is awesome. She was just a joy at the first moment you meet her. She remembers names as well so you get a "Welcome Back, Mr. ____" or "Good morning, Mr. ___" which is rare. I have not felt that special feeling of being a Diamond member for quite some time, but Miss Sherry made me feel appreciated. This location sure has a Diamond of there own with her at the front desk; and, all other Hilton properties should follow in her footsteps. I recently stayed there and I was bitten by begs bugs all over my body. Just went to the doctor this morning who verified that the welts all over me were bug bites. They were in places that mosquitos would not have reached and the do not look like mosquito bites. I had an allergic reaction to them and I an afraid I brought them home. This hotel is an awful condition and is more like a motel six than a luxury Hilton property. Upon check-in, I was given keys to a room that was completely trashed with a naked man inside.. I went back to the desk. They gave me keys to another room that was not clean and was in terrible condition and dis repair. Throughout the night into the early morning hours, the parking lot had men in the parking lot, drinking, listening to music with the smell of marijuana in the air. The door from the parking lot to the hotel is broken, forcing guests to walk around the hotel to the front entrance. This hotel is not safe for women or children.. I have contacted hotel management, Hilton guest services, and even emailed Hilton and still have no resolution to this situation. read more

This was honestly one of the worst hotel stays we've had. Our first room was dingy, smelled musty, and had gnats in the bathroom. We asked to be moved, and while staff did switch us, the second room had roaches and smelled like cigarettes, especially in the bathroom -- like someone was smoking next door and it was coming through the vent. For a Hampton Inn, this was way below expectations. The rooms didn't feel clean or safe, especially with kids. No real follow-up from management, and for the price, we definitely expected more. Older property, interior in need of painting and carpet replacement in hallways and guest rooms. It rained one day, I returned to find a trash can next to my room door collecting water dripping from ceiling. Additionally the walls seem to be thin, I could easily hear the guests in the room next to me talking, laughing easily, not conducive to sleeping for sure. read more

It should get a negative star rating! A dirty, dated hotel! Mold in almost all the grout in the shower. Filthy carpet both in the hotel room and the hallways. Stayed on the second floor; elevator had a missing 'down' button. Breakfast was a joke! No cereal, no yogurt, but they did have slimy French toast sticks and a corned beef hash resembling dog food. Only 2 types of bagels. A horrible experience and I've been using Hampton Inns for 40 years. Do not book a room at this hotel! This is an embarrassment to the Hampton/Hilton hotel chain. read more

I'm not sure what's going on with this Hampton Inn. I have visited here many times, and never feel the Hilton brand like I do it pretty much any other property. I get the impression that somehow it is privately owned and operating under their banner. I highly recommend Hilton corporate come in and sort out what's going on at this location. read more

We stayed here several years ago and it wasn't bad. The pool was closed for repair which was disappointing. It's unbelievable how downhill it's gone since then. Upper management should book a room undercover to see how bad it is. The hallways were dirty and had cobwebs, there's no telling how long it's been since it's been vacuumed and dusted. The carpet in our room was sticky and there were smudges of something on the bath room vanity. Friday, August 15th 2025 we went down for breakfast. The scrambled eggs were ice cold. There were three pieces of undercooked bacon, biscuits and gravy, four pieces of white bread and three pieces of wheat bread. I think you could make a waffle but the area was a mess. That's it; no fruit, no yogurt or bagels. We each had coffee and a biscuit with peanut butter. If you're thinking we got there too late for breakfast it was 7 AM. We sat near the front desk and could hear the "manager" talking on her cell phone. We knew she was the manager because she said "oh hold on" to her private call and answered the business phone as the "manager". I stopped on my way out a few minutes later to ask a question and she was still on the call. She seemed a bit put out that I was interrupting. I asked her a question and have no idea of the response because I couldn't understand her. I was going to repeat it but she was already back on her private call and giving someone her days off. Do not stay here . DO NOY STAY HERE . Staff during the day is nice and kind Overnight staff barely at the desk . The rooms are mix of updated and not updated . I've stayed here 4 separate times out of necessity and each time each room smelled like weed . And I don't mean like alittle I mean REAKED of weed . Pool smells like piss and chlorine 2of 4 rooms I found bugs asked for new room and staff pretty much blew me off The elevators you can't even click your floor sometimes and my bag got stuck because the door was closing and instead of it opening partially it flat out tried to close . Had to Litteraly rip my bag out . Long and short of it don't waste your money you'll regret even one night in this dumpster fire of a hotel . Owners clearly are ok with it being absolutely dilapidated.... I guess it's all fun in games till that Elevator clips someone and you get sued into oblivion . Bad service, Bad conditions , don't waste your money the way I did. This last experience was absolutely horrible I hope this place goes under or ownership steps in and starts giving a fu*k read more

Checked out of the Hampton. Told the lady my room had issues. Her response was "OK". Contacted Hampton inn corporate. Was told I would contacted the next week. No response from Hampton at all. I don't shop hotels , I just go to Hampton because they have standards they meet. Furniture was filthy , floor was separating the toilet handle stuck up so the chain would hang up. I had a pretty unfortunate stay here. My first room for my first night had a broken AC. This is an issues for many reasons. It's in the 80's-90's. I run very hot. So I went down to the front desk to get it figured out. They were sold out. And no one was there to look at the AC. A worker named Terry came to my room and basically told me I was dumb. He said my room wasn't hot. The AC was working and it would just take time to cool down. Well that is not true. My coworker's room was right next to mine and was cool. They were not having my issue. Terry was just rude to me the entire day. We had more issues but that's not really worth adding. Luckily my second night I was able to get a new room. A room that actually has a working AC. It was a smaller room but honestly I couldn't care less. I just needed AC. My first room didn't have a phone in it so I had to either go downstairs to get things done or try and call on my cell phone. My second room had stuff down the drain that was very gross. This hotel is one of the worst Hilton Hotels I've ever stayed in. They claim they are undergoing renovations, however there are NO signs of that. This hotel's location is horrible, the parking lot is extremely small, and it's is very old. The walls are very thin, I can hear everything the people next to me and over me are saying and doing. The furniture, the beds, and the bathrooms, are very outdated. To top off all my frustrations the breakfast service was horrible!!! They ran out of food before breakfast ended and refused to put anything else out. The staff was in the kitchen saying, "people need to come out on time because they have been here since 5 am and they are tired" ...such bad customer service! With all of that being said, I do not understand why they want to charge you this horrendous price to stay here like they are a modern day 5 star hotel! This hotel has now moved to the TOP of my list of places I will never stay again! If it wasn't for the front desk lady Ms. Sherry and her awesomeness, I would have cancelled my entire reservations. Disappointing stay. Toilet was running, fridge not working and disgusting mildew in bath tub. Disgraced the Hampton Inn name.

The first room I was given had no refrigerator. Either someone stole it, or it was never there in the first place. The manager brought up a replacement but then had me unload it myself and asked me to look for an outlet. I was on my hands and knees in the room trying to plug in the missing refrigerator! Unfortunately there was no outlet to plug it in, so I was moved to another room. I loaded the fridge, took a quick nap, and went about my plans for the day. When I returned to the hotel that night, I discovered that the fridge in the new room was either broken or not plugged in, so all that food I'd loaded had gone bad. One missing fridge, one busted fridge. What a joke. I cancelled the last two days of my three day reservation and have no intention of ever staying here again. In addition to the equipment failures, the surroundings are depressing (across the street from a now dead shopping mall, and located just behind a dilapidated Chuck-E-Cheese). Spend your money elsewhere. read more

From the time I walked in and asked for an early check in (even though when I made the reservation I asked for an early check in Told the front desk worker that I just drove in 20 hours to see my brother who was critically injured. She told me she would get them on a room ASAP. We counted 8 housekeepers, it has been over two hours and still no room, we have watched several parties check in after we arrived 2 hours ago and still no room. I am a long time HH client and have never had the issues like I have with this hotel. Even after two hours and I approached them, front desk said "I just let the hsk know what room type you needed (two hours later?) Usually, I give a 3 score but I will give this property a 4 due to the high level of friendliness demonstrated to me by the staff. Our 3 day stay at this hotel was not what we expected. I want to start off by saying that as soon as you enter the hotel you can smell the unforgiving mixture of wet paint, and dirty feet. No joke. Exhausted from a long day, I was ready to take a shower and relax for a few minutes. I have three major pet peeves: 1 people who drag their feet when they walk, 2 people who talk really low (drives me nuts) 3 DIRTY DOORS/ DOOR KNOBS. As you can probably guess, our room's bathroom doors were stained with some kind of brown nastiness. Not okay! I know it's probably not a big deal to someone else, but to me, it's a sin!! I stripped down and got into the shower, as I stood naked in the shower I looked down and realized how disgusting the edge of the shower was. Annoyed and disgusted, I turned the water on only to discover that the water smelled like eggs AND the pressure was a joke. My fiancé put it in good words on how the water pressure was , " like someone from the front desk is spitting through the shower head..." I have long, long hair and ALOT of it. It took me forever to get the shampoo out. The room step up. I do not understand it. The bed IS comfortable, I will give them that. However, the bed is set up on an angle where the sun hits your eyes when it's coming up or going down. What about curtains? You ask...Well, guess what? They don't have any! -.- The small TV is like a mile and a half away from the bed, you literally need binoculars to see anything. Awful! Breakfast is served from 6 am- 10 am. Breakfast was okay. Nothing special. If I were you I would stick to the normal. Cereal and milk. As of now (March 30 2016) the pool is being rebuilt so it's obviously out of service. (Which FYI explains the "paint smell" I mention above, I'm still trying to figure out where the "feet smell" is coming from...) The fitness room is on the second floor. The fitness room itself is very very small. It only has one treadmill and one elliptical machine, so you might have to share or wait if the machines are being used. They do not have any weights (which is disappointing, they really should, even if it's just a pair of 10lbs weights). All in all, I am not to happy with the conditions of our room, thank goodness we are only here for 3 days, we will most likely not stay at this location if we ever come this way again. read more

I stayed here 2 nights for a family wedding. My parents and I shared a suite. I had the pullout bed (not comfortable but not surprising), my parents slept great on the king bed. The room was spacious and clean and had everything we needed. The best part was the service. The front desk staff , especially at night, were so awesome and helpful. They searched out an extra blanket for me late at night when my parents were trying to make the room fit for a penguin and they gave us late night dinner suggestions with directions. Great hot breakfast in the morning with a friendly guy on staff helping to clean up and make waffles and general chit chat. The pool area was closed and I had to basically reformat the computer in the "business center" just to be able to print my boarding pass, but for a simple place to stay with clean rooms, safe parking and friendly staff, I give this place the thumbs up. read more

I was exceedingly surprised once I arrived at this location of Hampton Inn. After searching on-line for the best deal, location and amenities in the area, I was pointed to this Hampton Inn in Chesapeake. Once we arrived, we were greeted by EVERY staff member as if we were home. EVERY staff member had a welcoming disposition. Check-in was easy. The entire hotel was perfectly appointed, and equally warm and welcoming. Our room was extremely cozy. We were so comfortable that we actually didn't want to leave. We stayed here in the 2 bed queen suite. Room was very spacious and clean. We had a pull out sofa bed which was very uncomfortable but that's to be expected. The beds were soft and comfortable. Nice white bed linens and towels. There was a wet bar area sink, frige, and microwave. The staff was super friendly. The breakfast buffet was good and plentiful. The breakfast area was nice,spacious and clean. Would definately stay here again and looking forward to seeing if all the hampton Inns are just as good read more

Here for another visit. The reception was warm and full of smiles. That's always nice. This time, we reserved a King NS Suite. I love it. It's large, clean and comfy. See pics. The bathroom isn't very big, but it'll do the job. The continental breakfast was pretty good. Who doesn't love waffles and being able to get "turkey" sausages?? So many places only serve pork so thanks HH for serving turkey products. My concern is the pool. Raleigh ( the person responsible for the pool) says to me that "the city of Chesapeake checked the pool out yesterday, and it's good..it's clean". You be the judge. Look at the pictures yourself and determine. To me, this is not clean. I have NO INTENTIONS of getting into a pool with green water. If this is clean, then I suggest re-visiting your product line. I spoke to others in the elevator that felt the same. I've been to many hotels and never have I seen green water in a pool be acceptable. Then, to have my intelligence insulted by telling me that "it's ok"....really? No, thank you - I'll pass on the pool. The sauna looks good, though. I think I'll stick to that. read more

Stayed at this hotel for 3 days. It was way better than I expected for the price. The location was good, right off the highway. I booked a room with 2 queen beds. The rooms were very clean and smelled fresh. There was complimentary breakfast with bacon, ham or sausage, omelettes, a fresh waffle station, pastries, bagels, bread, oatmeal, fresh fruit and yogurt. The front desk was very friendly, both when I checked in and checked out! Room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Towels were fluffy and I had plenty. Only downside was the room was a little warm, even when turning on the AC unit -- but it definitely wasn't uncomfortable. A mirror in the room also had a long crack in it, but that didn't hinder me. We checked in feb 2-3 2015 overnight. 3 issues 1. Heater was noisy and warm can't give you enough heat to your comfort zone. (They used duck tape all around for insulation) 2.bathroom smell like someone smoke a cigarette or marijuana! 3. They keep charging /authorizing my card twice already!! After confirming our reservation for our wedding night 3 days before we got to the hotel and they had no reservation for me and my husband. We were turned away. When I called them 2 days later I heard every excuse there was but nothing to rectify what had happened to us. I will never stay in a Hampton Inn and Suites again. BED BUGS! Please consider this a public service announcement: This hotel has bed bugs. My husband and I stayed in room 207 the night of August 11, 2016 and woke the next morning to find plentiful evidence of bed bug droppings (black spots) on the bedding as well as numerous adult bed bugs and nymphs (babies) on the mattress. We are both covered in bites and itching horribly. After taking this up with Hilton Hotels (who owns Hampton Inn) we have received an email stating that the hotel has not found any evidence of bed bugs. Once a hotel is infected, if they do not take a property-wide approach to rectifying the situation it will persist and grow. They must know how to look for bed bugs, how and when to find them, what evidence looks like, etc. or they will go undiscovered. We suggest you avoid this hotel and save yourself the thousands of dollars required to rid your house of bed bugs - because you will bring them home with you. We will continue to pursue this though. I'll update this review with, hopefully, better news in the coming weeks. read more
