However, I needed a much deserved "staycation" so I reserved mines through the IHG app-no regrets here at all. The front desk associate (didn't catch his name) was really nice and checked me in with no issues. The room was clean, spacious, and has everything you need for a good night stay. What I really like about this hotel that I don't like about Staybridge Suites is there are Keurig coffee makers inside their rooms-made me very happy! Holiday Inn Express has Dove soap products and those comfy beds I gotta have lol! Plus, the shower heads are so relaxing to be under if you have a tense body. There is another thing that I love about this property but might be an inconvenience for some people is they lock the front doors around 10pm. But honestly, that is a great safety protocol that I don't mind. The fly problem I experienced during my previous visit was not an issue this time around. This is a pet friendly hotel but it didn't smell like a pet friendly hotel which was nice. As fair as detractors go the doors in the bathroom and the door to get into the hotel are really heavy. I had to assist my son each time he needed to use the restroom. I never thought I was the kind of person who cared about oceanfront rooms, as long as the room is close to the beach. But I think I've changed my mind. I really enjoyed eating meals watching the waves, and I was able to let my kids go to the beach while I sat in the room because I could see them from our room and they didn't have to cross any streets to get there. Also the breakfast was awesome! We immediately gravitated to the diy waffles with vanilla and red velvet options, and lots of toppings like chocolate chips and chocolate syrup. But I was impressed by the healthy options too like oranges, bananas, apples and canned fruit. There were great warm options too like scrambled eggs with salsa and shredded cheese, sausage and diced potatoes. The only things to mention are: -Parking is $20 a night. -There is an indoor pool but not an outdoor pool. -Good luck surviving the restaurant on the first floor, with its daily temptation to order from the reasonably priced happy hour menu (orange crushes for $5!). :)

This was a nice surprise as we didn't know these would be included with the room. Our room was clean. The temperature was comfortable throughout the stay. We had an ocean view which was lovely. Also, we really appreciated the walk up area that goes direct to the beach. Although it was stormy and we couldn't use the outdoor seating area, they have a nice plaza area which would definitely be nice if weather had been better. Breakfast was standard but no complaints. The coffee machine in the lobby has much better options and is available all day. My mother and I are already planning to make a trip in the summer and stay in the same room. We certainly recommend this for your next Norfolk trip.

The bathroom sink drain and overflow port were each caked with black mold. It is more than apparent that the person or persons who clean this hotel also use old dirty mop water. As all the common areas smelled of stagnate water. I notified the front desk upon discover these items and they are more than apologetic and wanted to make the situation right but the second room wasn't much better. It's not a bad hotel. If they would just get someone to follow through and inspect the room rooms upon cleaning. NEEDS someone to ensure that they are actually cleaned. Hopefully some training will correct this.

Electrical outlets have safety features that make them difficult to use. 2026 Diamond members have special parking for $10 a day. We had a maintenance request and it was handled promptly with skill. Staff is well trained, polite and 'on top of' every request made of them. From the front desk staff, to maintenance, to Sharifa, the brunch manager, they all exceeded my expectations.
