We are also both IHG members and were able to use points to book. I asked when the hotel had opened and the front desk person said probably around 2015. When we booked with points it didn't let us select a king room so we chose standard room; This ended up being a room with two queen beds and it was actually hearing accessible, which was interesting. I've never seen that before but when someone rings the doorbell for the room, there is a light that lights up. It was the last room available for the night - there was a group of people who showed up before us and I think were only able to get one room and they needed two or something like that, but the front desk person was able to call the Hampton next door and secure a room for them. Breakfast this morning included hot options like sausages and eggs, and they even had cinnamon rolls. I had a bagel, turkey sausage, regular sausage, and apple juice. They even had Chobani yogurt which I thought was an upscale selection. The bed itself was super comfortable as well and the bathroom was large. I would stay here again when in the area.

According to the website, there was one available I could book right then. She said it would cost more. I said that's fine. A room just like my room I was in magically became avaliable, not even the one that was costing me more from online. The only other option is to go elsewhere. This was a matter of having an asthma flare or not. Since a new room magically appeared, She took me to the new room, which did not have the odor. I got moved, and the second room had a fridge that did not work and a very dirty bathroom. Since I was treated so abruptly with a rude attitude last time, I just worked around it. The walls were very dirty and there was a messy floor. The shower was functional and the toilet was fine. So I dealt with it. The only thing that was good here was there wasn't any bed bugs and the bed was comfortable. There are a lot of hotels around, pick a different one. Even if those issues existed and they were handled without the attitude, rudeness, and obvious lack of empathy , I would have a few more stars here.

Either way, I was glad to find a clean room with a comfortable bed. My TV wasn't working, but they sent somebody up right away and it was working in minutes. Something was unplugged. The TV volume is extremely low though. Even when turned up. I suppose that could be a good thing for neighbors. The lighting in the bathroom was terrible! I hate that! But the shower water was hot (although it took me a minute to figure out how to send the water to the shower nozzle) and the water pressure was good. I liked the little chair they had in the corner by the windows and the fridge set up. The microwave and fridge are behind a little hidden cabinet door. Smart! The gym is nice. I spent some time down there walking, lifting, and watching FIFA. It's everything you need to get a decent workout. Treadmills, free weights, a few kettlebells, cable machines and mats. They even provide water, towels and wet wipes to wipe the machines down. The staff was friendly. I asked for a late checkout and was granted with no problem. It gave me time to get back from my work event, shower, change clothes, and move to the work stationed they have in the lobby. I had a late flight so that gave me an area to work. The Inn on Evans consists of three small apartments on the floor above the Boulevard Market (wine…read moreand cheese). There is no dedicated web page, just a Facebook page with a few pictures and basic details, and you have to book by calling the Boulevard Market. We booked the Italian room for a recent visit to Tecumseh -- very convenient for the Evans Street Station (next door), where we had a very enjoyable dinner, with ample parking between the two buildings. The Tecumseh brewery is just a half-block away on Chicago Boulevard and there is a sports bar a few steps down Evans street from the Inn; there is a popular bakery that opens at four in the morning on the Boulevard. The Italian room is at the front of the building -- huge sash windows, reaching up to high ceilings, overlooking Chicago Boulevard and Evans Street, with great views down the streets (downtown Tecumseh is all fine nineteenth-century buildings; if you like small-town America, you will love this). The apartment was very comfortable -- lots of room in the bed/sitting room (decent-sized bed; small but adequate table -- you could work at it if you needed to; big sofa); a spacious kitchen; the bathroom is a bit cramped and up two steps, but is adequate. There is a gas stove with four burners and an oven (which I did not check), a big fridge-freezer, a coffee maker (also not used by us, but I assume it works), and a microwave in the kitchen, which is also equipped with a couple of frying pans, a saucepan, a few plates, bowls, and cups, and some basic knives, forks, etc. If you plan to do any serious cooking, you would be well advised to bring your favorite kitchen tools with you (and, perhaps, some plastic plates, cups, glasses, and bowls). And note: there was no tea or coffee, nor any salt, pepper, or spices, in the kitchen. That didn't matter for us -- dinner was at the Evans Street Station, and we had breakfast at the Morning Grind coffee shop just across Chicago Boulevard (both excellent) -- so we used the kitchen just to make tea, which we brought with us, along with a tea pot -- we never leave home for an overnight trip without either item... If you do rent the apartment and need supplies, there is a Busch supermarket on the edge of town, open, I believe, from 7 to 10. Two warnings: the stairs up to the apartments are steep -- not for the infirm or the very young; and the Boulevard Market closes at six on week nights (seven on Saturdays), so if you plan to stock up on wine and cheese on arrival, make sure to get to Tecumseh in good time. Overall, I found the accommodation very pleasant, in an absolutely charming location. Lots of room, adequately furnished. Don't expect twenty-first-century remodeling (there is a large and somewhat noisy in-room air conditioner, the sash windows are original and have to be closed at night to keep out the noise of the occasional traffic, and you do have to negotiate those stairs), but if you like the idea of seeing the church spire at the end of the boulevard from your bed as you wake up in the heart of small-town Michigan, just ten paces from an excellent restaurant and in the centre of a charming downtown, one block from a small farmers' market (Saturday mornings all summer) this is for you.

Let's start with the positive: it is clean; it is right in the center of downtown Tecumseh. However.....the small kitchen was very poorly stocked. There was one fork, one knife, one spoon, three coffee cups, two plastic margarita glasses that were, I imagine, to serve as wine glasses. (Remember, the proprietor runs a very nice wine and cheese shop directly below the room.) There were no water or juice glasses. However, when we asked Erika to bring some up, she did. She brought two spoons, two forks, five very small, disposable plastic cups and a hair dryer. There was a small stove, oven and microwave. There was one small saucepan, and no cooking utensils. My wife and I made the reservation, well in advance, for a five-night stay. When we registered, we were told that someone would come in daily and replace towels, linens, etc. That never happened. We were given four towels for our five-night stay, and were not given any more until we requested them. The dirty towels were never removed during our stay. WE made our bed every morning, but that was the least of our complaints. The sheets were loose, and slipped around on the mattress.....BECAUSE THERE WAS NO MATTRESS PAD ON THE MATTRESS!! We feel that this property has potential. Upon checkout, we offered our suggestions to the lady to whom we returned our key. She became very defensive, noted that people don't usually stay that long, and said she would tell her mom. No apology was offered. There are other true bed and breakfasts in Tecumseh; check those out before visiting this quaint, historic town.

So, locally owned, and getting in touch to book rooms has you calling the coffee shop, so don't be confused! Anyway, the price was very reasonable, and the loft was quaint, an efficiency apt with a living room, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. Clean and comfortable, located on the main street and up a flight of stairs (they have one other place, a larger apt. with several bedrooms). We walked to dinner at Evans Street Station, and to the little shops up and down the strip during the afternoon. Tecumseh's quiet--if you want clubs, bars and a roulette wheel, this is not the spot for you--but if you're into the small town, quiet-getaway- experience, I highly recommend this inn. The breakfast is a $10 gift card for the full service coffee shop downstairs, which for two people can be tight, but you can use it the day before, and put your bagels and coffee in the apt. fridge, which is what we did (see caveat), or you can use the morning of, if they're open (Caveat: the coffee shop wasn't open on the Sunday we were there, and may not be open on Sundays period. Pick out breakfast foods in advance for Saturday night stays).
