This past week for Berea College's Entrepreneurship for the Public Good Summer Institute, myself along with 19 other Berea Students, visited Hazard, Kentucky to promote economic development. During this week long trip we spent every night peacefully sleeping in the Hampton Inn & Suites located at 70 Morton Boulevard Hazard, KY 41702. Each night was a very comfortable sound sleep on soft and fluffy pillows with an equally soft and fluffy queen sized bed. Each room is exceptionally clean and well kept. At this inn you can look forward to a warm shower, soft towels, and nice place to rest your head. I can honestly say I enjoyed every moment here. Each morning my cohort awoke to warm tasty breakfast to fuel our brains for the long day ahead. Much of our time was spent in the lobby working on business and I must say the room is accommodating for such needs. On top of all that, the pool and hot tub were a great way to relax after being on the road all day. I did have a few miner complaints. I feel the hotel could be kept a little warmer. It was a little cold after getting out of the pool and walking back to the room. More importantly was the fact the hotel had no recycling. As a Berea College student, a father, and a husband environmental protection, to me, is a family value. I would love to see recycling bins on each floor. By simply, turning the air down a little, and setting up a few recycling bins, the Hampton could easily be a little more green and save money. All in all, the hotel is luxurious and I am very happy with my stay. The next time you are passing through Hazard, Kentucky and need a place to stay try the Hampton INN and Suites. read more

The Hampton Inn is a great place for travelers to stay. This is a chain hotel and that means that no matter where in the country you stay with them you can expect the same quality of service. The staff are friendly, the beds are comfortable, and the hotel itself is well thought out. With that being said it is very rare that I have complaints about my stay in a Hampton Inn. However, this time around I do have a few issues I would like to bring up. I am traveling with an organization which is heavy on Internet usage, and unfortunately the Internet connection here at the hotel was nonexistent for most of the week on my computer. Others were able to log in, but there were large numbers of people who could not. I even heard other people not in our group commenting about the poor Internet service. In today's technological age, Internet is crucial for business travelers and the prospect of not being able to connect would cause me to think twice about staying at this particular Hampton Inn location again. My second issue is not nearly so bad...but again, its the little things that count the most. The morning coffee at this location was not really the best I have had. When I am waking up at 6:30 in the morning and getting ready for work, I MUST have a good cup of coffee to get me going. Unfortunately the coffee here was little more than water (even from the robust carafe) with cream and sugar. read more

There is life! This hotel is conveniently located right across from a food city and right down the road from a movie theater. You really wouldn't imagine the Hampton Inn so far away from the main road, but it was there. Just gotta keep going. It's worth it. It is a wonderful hotel! I really like the rooms. The bathroom could use more lighting probably. The towels are really nice and soft. The pillows are amazingly comfortable! The room is nice, but the WiFi in the room is not good. I would recommend bringing your ether net cable for fast internet. I wish the pool and hot tub didn't close at 10:00 p.m. because I really wanted to take a relaxing swim and reflect in a hot Jacuzzi with some friends. However, the desk service was really nice about informing us that the pool was closed as a result of cleaning. I also liked the lobby. There was a lot of seating with chairs, couches, and even a high top table. It was maybe even a bit crowded with the chairs, but still really nice. They also had several different teas and coffee available 24 hours a day. There was also free chocolate chip cookies which were fantastic! They had a really nice workout room along with a single room divided in half to have a small meeting area for the businesses. It was nice, but kind of dimly lit. Hope to be rested up for tomorrows adventures. I will definitely return to this hotel in next four weeks. read more

Located at the bottom of the hill next to a gas station and grocery store. This Hampton walking in was absolutely fabulous. It well kept had a hot tub and swimming pool and an excellent fitness center. The lobby was very elegant and well furnished with comfortable furniture and enough space for our large group to work and still have adequate space to move around. Then I walk into the bedroom, and I was amazed. The bathroom was large and nicely accommodating with plenty of towels, soap and shampoo. The room was very clean and offered a comfortable atmosphere. Now when you climb into the bed, you will honestly not want to leave it. The blankets are beyond comfortable and far from ordinary. The staff is extremely nice and helpful in guiding us where to go as well as providing a wonderful breakfast in the morning. Out of all the hotels I have been to thus far, the Hampton Inn of Hazard offers the best variety and quality breakfasts. It was comfortable and inviting. This really is a wonderful establishment that I recommend to anyone visiting this part of Eastern KY. read more

As anyone who has stayed in very many hotels, you know that they are all quite similar. The Hampton is different however in its regards to how many comforts and extra services they provide their customers. Their continental breakfast is fresh and has a decent selection (especially considering that it is free). They have coffee around the clock that even though it might not be coffeeshop coffee, it is definitely better than other hotels/restaurants. The rooms have comfy beds, a fridge and microwave (which is a definite plus), and the rooms were always cleaned very well. The only problem I encountered was their wi-fi. Our group of 20 would probably be taxing on any one internet connection, but the internet here definitely acted kind of funky at times. It would randomly stop and start working, and considering that this particular hotel chain caters to business people, you would think that this would be addressed and would not become a problem. But I would say that I'm still very satisfied with my stay here. read more

After having to stay here for parts of three different weeks, I've decided this is a pretty good hotel. The rooms have always been clean and the beds are really, really comfy. I love like that there was a microwave and mini-fridge in every room because there weren't at the Hampton in Asheville. The bathrooms here are nice and the showers have good water pressure and shower heads with different settings. They also have a spa, pool, and workout room, which are all pretty helpful if you're stressed out from business. On one occasion, the maid came in while we were in the room and she was very friendly. Also, they provide a pretty wide variety as far as breakfasts go, they much have it on some sort of rotation, because I don't believe they served the same thing twice in one week. If I have a complaint, it's that I couldn't figure out how to work the t.v., but I'm pretty sure the people at the front desk would have been more than willing to advise me, had I asked. read more

Every experience I have in the Hampton Inn is always the best! No matter the city or state, I still receive the best service. We are always greeted by someone at the front desk. I know how it is to have a job at a hotel. I am a former employee at one. It is not the best job to have and certainly not the job that will keep a smile on your face at all times. No matter the situation, we can never tell when the employees are having a bad day because they bless us with a smile each time they see us. I love their signature "cookies at the front desk" routine daily. They always bake fresh cookies late in the afternoon to show their guests their appreciation. The only problem I would say about this location is that the internet connection in the room is really crappy and slow. Other than that small flaw, I love the hotel and their amazing breakfast every morning! Now that's what I call a great overnight relief! read more

I really like this hotel. I have been staying here off and on for the past few weeks on a business trip and am pleased every time I enter the front entrance. The breakfast in the morning quick and useful for when I'm on the go. My room always has a nice clean feel to it; bed always made, and room temperature quite soothing. However, their are some minor issues. They could practice a bit more on their room service. I stayed in a room with three people, and was in need of extra blankets. At the moment I was already in night clothes and unprepared to walk downstairs. So I called to the front desk and asked for someone to send up some blankets. Instead, I was told that I would have to come downstairs and get it myself because they were busy at the moment. The trip downstairs was inconvenient because I had to re-dress myself. All-in-all, my trip was still pleasant and I would return again. read more

This is my third time staying at a Hampton Inn. I have always had a great experience in Hamptons. Their customer service is great, beds are the most comfortable, and you cannot complain about their all you can breakfasts. I have stayed in this establishment for a week and half this last month, Hazard's Hampton has a very nice, clean lobby and many rooms with boards and TVs perfect for people need to work on a project, or for a formal business meeting. Even though Hamptons are usually the best, this time I was very disappointed. I stayed on the third and second floor for my travels and I had really bad Internet connection. And it was not just me because some colleagues complained about the internet as well. I believe that in a business hotel internet should be essential. This is the only thing I would encourage them to improve in other parts this hotel is 10/10. read more

Wow! That is always my initial reaction as I step into a Hampton Inn. This location in Hazard County is my fifth Hampton Inn stay since I have been traveling throughout the years; and each one goes above and beyond my expectations. This particular Hampton possessed a "home away from home" vibe to me. As soon as I walked through the door my stress level decreased, and I felt as if a weight had been lifted off my shoulder. Some particular assets this hotel possesses include: Its free continental breakfats for people on the go, its cordial staff members, great house keeping, fresh cookies at the front desk when available, lots of forum meeting rooms for business guests, indoor Jacuzzi and swimming pool, accessible fitness room, up to date laptops, flat screens, etc., and the feeling of satisfaction it provided to me as a customer. Upon arrival my colleagues and I were very tired from a long day of traveling. We were greeted with smiles and warm cookies. After our rooms were quickly assigned to us we were informed of the weight room and pool that were open for our use. Once in the rooms I was greatly pleased with the cleanliness of the facility. The bathroom was spotless and so were the beds. The all white linen mad it easier to see if there was any dirt anywhere. There were ample pillows on the soft comfy bed. The flat screen television was large enough to actually be seen from any location in the room. After leaving my bag in the lobby I found that the front desk attendants has picked it up and secured it behind the desk for my pick-u. To top off everything, the wireless speed and ease of access was tremendous. I am very glad that we were able to stay here. read more

The Hampton Inn exemplifies what a hotel stay should be. Although many of the visitors seemed to be professionals, the atmosphere was comfortable and did not spoil the mood of my casual group; The customer service was superb. I was trying to send a fax off and the personnel did not stop until my fax was properly sen tot its destination despite the fax machine issues that occurred. The suite was spacious and clean. My roommate and I had no problem with the cleanliness of the shower or the navigation of the television stations. The set up of the room created a comfortable space for business and pleasure. The beds were soft and provided with with a restful sleep. I would recommend the Hampton Inn to everyone that is in need of a clean and comfortable hotel stay. read more

All of last week I stayed in the Hampton Inn with a group of 19 other college students and our professor. We stayed with 2 per room, and that was plenty of space for us. In each room we had our own extremely comfortable queen size beds, bathrooms, large flat screen televisions, and wireless internet. The wireless was too slow for me to deal with so I bought an ether net cord at Wal-Mart and the connection was much better. There is a pool, an exercise room, and business center. Breakfast was waiting on us in the lobby each morning and our rooms were clean when we returned to the hotel in the afternoon. The only concern I heard from the group is that there are no recycling facilities. Otherwise, the Hampton Inn is a very nice place to rest your weary head. read more

The Hampton Inn in Hazard, KY is a very nice and elegant hotel. I have been here twice and they always provide great service. Inside the room the beds are comfortable and there is a business work area if you are on business and are staying at the hotel. The scenery in the lobby is clean and provides the relaxation you need after a long day. The hotel has both a fitness room and a swimming pool that is open till the late hours of any day. Also there is a meeting room and individual computer room if there needs to be a meeting or you as the traveler have some work to do. The people at the front desk are genuinely nice and are attentive to making sure each person staying at the hotel enjoys there time. Overall, five star quality and great place. read more

Like every Hampton in the service is great. However this one really stand out to me because they do not make connecting to the wifi difficult like most lodgings do. The day we arrived the elevator was not working so we had to use the stairs. Because of the awesome service the inn offers they ended up surprising us with soda and lovely chocolates in our room as an apology for making us use the stairs that day. In addition they are very hospitable and offer nice baked cookies at the reception desk. The lady in charge of the breakfast is very considerate and goes out of her way to make sure you have everything you want and are satisfied. She has a very warm welcoming smile that brightens your morning. The hotel is very clean and accommodating. read more

This inn is one of my favorite place place to stay I think. they have good room with large bathroom and cozy big lobby. you have also WiFi everywhere that makes you comfortable for work. they have also swimming pool and decent fitness center that made keep working out at 11 pm. this place had a laundry room that I was able to wash my clothes. funny thing is that there was no laundry room at Hampton Inn in Abingdon, West Virginia. I think laundry room situation is different depending on places. they also have coffee and cookies afternoon and during evening time, and decent breakfast in the morning with USA Today newspaper. they know how to satisfy you and your morning is already ready to hit the road. The first thing I want to say about this place is that the beds were amazing, after you have been driving all day this is a great place to rest your legs and your back. They have a pool and a hot tub both was amazing, not only that though they had a weight lifting room. The breakfast was good I love making my own waffle, but this was not like any other breakfast I have ever had they also had eggs and sausage which amazed me and was a good started for my day. The people at the front desk were nice and very helpful which is always a good thing to have if that is where you are going to lay your head down that night. This place is not too expensive but for what you pay it is well worth it. read more

Great customer service, clean and cozy rooms, 24/7 Gym service and swimming pool are few among the many things I have observed in Hampton Inn. The receptionists were really fast and friendly when I checked in. Fast internet access is one of the things I am happy about this place. I definitely would come back to this place for its wonderful setting, comfortable and home-like lobby and, great and fast service. Hampton Inn is surrounded by Food City, Apple bees' and 24/7 open gas station, which makes it accessible to tourists and visitors. The Hampton Inn is THE place to spend the night at after a long tiring busy day! The bed are so comfortable and the pillows and comforters are so comfortable too!! I have the best nights of sleep. They have a great customer service, serve free cookies throughout the day, and have a pool and a jacuzzi. The pool does not get deeper than 5 feet because there is no lifeguard. the jacuzzi can hold 8 people i would say. I think it closes earlier than i expected (10pm). The only thing i would criticize is internet service. It is very fast at the lobby, 1st, and 2nd floor, but it gets very weak once in the third floor. But in general, the Hampton inn is a really nice comfy place to stay! read more
