We stay here frequently only because it is close to family in the area. We request a room on top floor every time and are usually accommodated which is great, this time the put us on the bottom floor right by the breakfast area. I understand doors slam sometimes and but from about 630 on I was not able to sleep because they were constant.. This is the only hotel we stay at that they still serve your breakfast as all others have went back to self service.. The room was nice but the mold in the shower and along the floor in the bathroom was not very attractive. I love love love the comforters they are the best I have come across. (There is a lot of give and take from this hotel), night time customer service is better than day time.. No hot water and no eggs in the breakfast area make for a very bad experience. The disturbing part is that hotel staff were aware of the problem upon check-in, but said nothing about the issue. This was a great hotel in Marshalltown. Friendly service, clean room, surprising great breakfast, and a clean and well maintained gym. The front desk went out of their way to make sure my room was right next to my mom's. We hadn't made the request in advance - I was grateful for the accommodation. We stay here when we visit family in the area. Being loyal HiltonHonors members has us stay at the only property in the area. The Good: The hotel is fairly new and well maintained. The staff for the most part is friendly. The rooms are clean and spacious. Breakfast is plenty and coffee is always available. The Bad: Being a Diamond Honors member, we are used to being greeted and thanked for being a HiltonHonors member, which the staff here has never done. Also our complimentary items are never offered. After asking for them, we do receive them after some hesitation from the front desk staff. The water pressure in any room of the hotel is very weak and makes raking your daily showers no fun at all. This is nothing the hotel has control over since they are about the furthest from the water tower in town. The Ugly Truth: We enjoy our stay here for the most part as the rooms are clean, breakast is nice, the pool and fitness room are kept up as well. As mentioned above the staff seems to not be very excited to have gainful employment. If there would be different Hilton properties in town we would definitely give them a try over this one. I'm in the Conrad area working. This is the closest hotel. I've use this brand all over the US, Canada and Mexico. Mostly because their beds work for me at 6 foot three and 245 pounds. Ever since Covid this brand is just getting shaky in some places. This morning when I left for work I asked for them to check my shower which has really low water pressure and to change out my towels. I was told by the person attending the desk around 8 AM they would do that. Came back tonight at 8 PM none of that was done. I don't know what they blaming this on but they need to stop blaming and pay people more money and get some folks in here working again. read more

Stayed here twice the first time thought was a fluke so didn't review. However, same thing this time the shower doesn't drain and the toilet doesn't flush properly and the same bedside light is out that is needed not to go to bed in pitch darkness. Chose Hampton Inn based on past positive experiences staying at other Hampton Inns. I choose hotels at this level primarily for the quality of the beds, assuming that other amenities are equivalent. Wrong!!! Beds were fine but basic services were grossly lacking. 1.) Could not adjust temperature in the room. Thermostat was set on "OFF" and could not be reset, after trying multiple attempts . . . and temp outside was in the 20's. 2.). Hilton's new policy of . . . don't know what polically term they use to say "we're providing daily room cleanup upon request". . . well, it wasn't working at this hotel. Checked in Thursday night; checked out Sunday noon. Were in the area on the occasion of a family member passing suddenly. Recognizing room would not be serviced daily, we REQUESTED new towels and trash be collected the day of the funeral; would be comforting to return to a clean room. Did it happen? Not so much! Same pile of used towels and trash--from 2 previous days/nights--greeted us when we returned from the funeral service. Room was NEVER serviced during our stay, despite leaving tip $$ for housekeeping staff. (Should have taken a pic of the mound of used towels ) 3.) To get clean towels--and replacement TOILET PAPER--we had to go down to the front desk to make our request and personally carry back to our room. 4.) Finally, the room rate was the highest I've paid at any Hampton Inn I've stayed in for years . . , and this is not in a major tourist area where one could expect to pay more. No . . . this is in central Iowa in November. For the first day and a half we felt like we were the only people in the hotel. CONCLUSION: This is a major brand trying to make a go on the cheap in a backwater town. Although I'll be returning to this town to visit family, I wall never stay in this hotel again. The service we got was that of motels costing 1/2 the price; only thing this hotel has going for it are decent beds. Don't mind paying for advertised services, but in the case of this hotel the value for is just not there. read more

I stayed at the Hampton Inn in Marshalltown Iowa. These are not mosquito bites as it's January but bed bug bites. I didn't notice until after I left and they started itching. Yuck! I basically threw my suitcase out with clothes as I'm not bring them into my house. The breakfast was nasty, staff extremely rude. I heard them gossiping about another guest before she came down. Completely disrespectful and unprofessional. They discriminate as well. I will never stay there again. I'm staying at the Holiday Inn, just opened in July right next door. I hear the staff is amazing and a breath of fresh air. Nah I'll pass from now on! read more

I booked a 3 night stay at this hotel through Expedia and was charged $311. When I departed the hotel the receipt I was given stated the room charge for the 3 nights was 267. When I arrived home I called Expedia to find out why the discrepancy and the called the hotel. The hotel told Expedia that the receipt I was given was in error and they wouldn't refund the difference. Unfortunately I will not be staying at this hotel again, I will just go across the street to the holiday inn, maybe their billing system is correct and if there is an issue they will correct the problem. read more

It was large, but there was basically nothing in it. It was awkard. It's a huge room with the bed and a small desk and lot of leftover floorspace that doesn't include a fridge/microwave. Big bummer on that. There's a small flatscreen, but I'm not kidding it's on the opposite side of the room and from the bed you can barely make out anything from so far away haha.. it sounds odd I know, but seriously you could have a breakdancing party with all the space. The breakfast was worse than other Hampton Inns (I live in Hampton Inns as I travel 100% for work). There were no bananas/oranges, just bitter small apples. The only cereal option was rice crisps. Of course there was your normal powdered eggs, but overall options were limited. Have you ever been to a hotel where the doors to the rooms are super heavy and all you hear is them slamming closed all the time? Why can't they just adjust them to close lightly? The hardware is there.. use it. **Can be hard to get to. When you get off freeway head straight until you see the Baymont Suites sign and then turn left. You'll want to turn towards it much sooner, and google maps has a hard time figuring out how to get to it. read more

I booked an 8 night stay here not long ago through a 3rd party app. Paid way more than I feel like I should have to not even have a bath tub. Very dim lighting. Told me I could only have room service ONE time in 8 nights. I get doing per request, especially if you're short staffed but telling me for the kind of money I am paying y'all for this service while I'm there that I can only get it once?! Then, the hot tub was out of service the whole time I was there. Our room door never shut on its own and got stuck open a few times. Cuz these are definitely the kind of things I want to stress over while I'm on vaca. While my wife and I were staying there not only did we have many unfortunate encounters but heard other visitors complaining about how they were checked into a dirty room or how they never got their service ect ect. Not to mention the day time staff is extremely rude and have piss poor attitudes. When I could, I waited for night shift to show up to address and questions or concerns because they were always pleasant and came across to at least act like they enjoyed they're job. Kudos to the night staff 110% anyway, the stay other than that was okay over all. I probably won't be coming back to this one in particular but it did give me a place to rest my head at night while visiting. But really, get your staff's attitude together cuz I paid a lot of money for a lotta bs customer service. Do better. read more

Sad when super 8s and motel 6s have microwave and fridges in the room. These guys sure don't. The wifi is $6.95/day before taxes. Sad when the local laundromat has free internet (my unlimited monthly plan is $10). Don't forget your room key if your co-worker books the room, they won't let you get back in. Not sure what you're paying for when you book a hampton room - but convenience isn't part of it. Sigh. Update the following morning - woke up 3 times last night in pain. Not sure what brand the double size bed (not a queen - as advertised.) is in room 413 - but not impressed. I stayed at a Colorado Springs Travelodge last week that had memory gel beds, micro and fridge, and free wifi for $47/night. Hampton you're falling short!!! read more

Very nice Hampton Inn with very hard working and kind staff. We were bummed that there was no refrigerator in the room. Great breakfast (though out of bananas both mornings) with my favorites being the oatmeal with yummy toppings, and I like that they have peanut butter. The robust coffee is delicious. Plenty of comfortable seating in the breakfast area, even when the hotel was crowded. Clean hotel with a big pool and hot tub and nice newer workout room (not that we used it). The doors are heavy and loud when they shut but there still was a lot of noise from the hallways and other rooms. We appreciated the free wifi. Read the earlier review about how to turn into the hotel- very helpful. Great hotel overall! read more

What a nice room, the beds are so amazing and true queen size beds. The breakfast was excellent. It was very nice to arrive after 2 very long days of driving and able to just plug our chargers into many of the USB outlets provided in our room. The hotel is great but my wife had a good point. When approaching the hotel westbound on Highway 30, there is no Hampton Inn sign at the top of the east side of the hotel. There are Hampton signs on all other sides of the building. This would make it easier for westbound travelers to find the hotel. read more

Wow. What a great experience. I love Hampton Inns, but last night's stay was amazing. I rolled in around 1am. The desk clerk (Deb) was courteous, friendly and efficient at getting me checked in quickly. The bed was AMAZING. It was the best night's sleep I've had anywhere in a long time. The room was clean and smelled fresh. I skipped breakfast so I can't comment, but the eating area looked well stocked and the variety was typical of Hampton Inns ( which is a good thing). If you are ever traveling the corn fields of Iowa and need to spend the night in Marshalltown be sure you check into the Hampton Inn. read more

Worst customer service I have ever witnessed in my life!!!!! It's is too bad that the newest place in a great little small town is ran like a stable. I understand the economics of overbooking I ran a little motel/cafe in the early 2000's. This place left a mom over 8 months pregnant with three kids wait in the lobby as they tried to explain how they had screwed up and given away her room. Did I mention she drove three hours to get there? And it was only 4 in the afternoon with the room she had a confirmation number for sitting empty and clean. There was a big tournament in town so every place within 30 minutes was packed. Luckily another family picked up and left to allow her and the girls a place to stay and swim at the state meet. The Hampton offered no olive branch and the manger was no where to be found or unavailable to help. So if u want an overpriced room in marshalltown you better hope you can talk someone into ruining there weekend and checking out early cause a confirmation number won't save you. There are two other major chain operations in town anyway! read more
