I recently stayed here for several days when I visited the area from out of state. The price of this hotel should be significantly reduced or improvements should be made to justify prices! When this hotel first opened it was THE place to stay. Sadly it's the same decor as when it forest opened I'm pretty sure, from late 90s. I will say the front desk manager was lovely. She was friendly as was the other front desk staff. When you walk into the lobby you're hit with the smell of moth balls mixed with chlorine....mmmm. The Christmas decor is still up in June, and the lobby furniture is dilapidated furniture that looks like it was picked up from a doctor's office. They serve sugary cereals and nothing but cheap pastries (probably from a bag of doughnuts and served individually), white bread (no whole grain or whole wheat), waffles, and some yogurt. The eggs, bacon, and sausage was ice cold. And the coffee tasted like ass. This is the continental breakfast. Walk across the street for Casey's pizza instead. My bed was comfortable enough. I slept well each night. I brought my own blankets and I'm glad as the blankets provided are pretty thin. Air conditioning didn't work the best, so thin blankets probably would've been fine. We booked a king suite which is 2 rooms. You couldn't feel AC much from the other room. In the second room there's a pull out couch to sleep on. The mattress was ripped, torn, and stained. Good thing we brought our own blankets. I also booked a standard double queen room for my adult children. Their room didn't have a working fridge or lamp. The food they put in the fridge went bad. We did enjoy our in room jacuzzi. Good thing we had that as they tore out the hot tub in the swimming area. I don't think their website tells you that. So be aware. The swimming pool still works and can be used. If you're looking for a place to crash while passing through and there's no where else to stay, this place is fine. But the Hampton Inn across the street is the same price and WAY better! (My in-law's stayed there and I checked it out during the same trip). I wouldn't stay here again. read more

No major problems. Like other reviews say it was a little outdated but truly not a problem, overall a cute little hotel. The free offered breakfast was surprisingly good; consisted of scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, cereal options, bagels/toast and some mini muffins and donuts (great selection for a free breakfast and a low cost hotel!). There was a bit of a wait for a few things as it didn't seem overly staffed but we don't mind having to wait a little bit so wasn't an issue for us. As someone else said yes there isn't a hot tub anymore but the pool was nice. Our only small problem was overnight there was a leak in the bathroom ceiling so there was a decent amount of water on the floor in the morning.. we only stayed one night so wasn't a big issue for us. We let the front desk know and they apologized for it. read more

RIPOFF shithole!! FYI the WiFi is very sad too. You're better off to go to the motel 6. Save yourself $100 too! Seriously ridiculous the price they charged because it's a weekend and all they had left was a suite. The "whirlpool " was a complete joke. No more than a overrated bathtub with 2 blow holes The shoots are so low to the bottom that you get nothing from it. The bed was hard as a rock and the whole place is is falling apart. We had to fix 2 things while we were there. The hairdryer fell off the wall when I picked the dryer up to use it. The toilet bowl kept running and wouldn't flush (easy fix) we had no tools though, so I walked up to the desk to tell the manager to please come fix it. He just looked at me and said maintenance would be there in 20 minutes. An hour and a half later I called him back and said to just forget it. We had to get up early, so I wasn't waiting any longer. AGAIN all he said was ok... NO, I'm sorry or offer of taking off some money... nothing!! The owner of this place was is flat out rude. Some of my friends tried to stay as well and he was even more rude to them. They had to call the sheriffs office on him. HOW IS THIS DUDE RUNNING A BUSINESS??? First off I want everyone who might be unfortunate to come upon this place...oh my god this is an old Americinn that they put lipstick on.It is dingy ,smells like a cheap by the hour motel.Furnishings are old ,showing their age beds have butt dents in them.No movie channels @ all.Computer and printer does not work.Staff is just rude and I don't give a damn.I have stayed@ other baymont inn's and absolutely LOVED them but,truly they should be ashamed to put the Wyndham name on this dump.Not kidding and not being a Karen this place was DISGUSTING!!!!!!I will never stay @ Wyndham hotels of any kind again. read more

Great management and staff, nice pool/hot tub area. We have enjoyed staying here. Beds are very comfortable.

It was so-so. The bed felt like someone had carved the center of the mattress out. The faucet had a leak that flooded the counter with water when you turned it on. The bathroom was crampy and semi-dingy. Overdue for new carpet. The door didn't shut reliable. It was fine- you just had to make sure it was pushed all the way in. This is now owned by Baymont Inns & Suites. This property is only about 10 years old so it is still in good condition. We stayed two nights and the going rate for a two queen room was a little over $70 a night. With a discount I got through my workplace It got dropped down to $57 which for a hotel like this is a steal. The lobby is well maintained. There is a small breakfast area and a community computer that has seen better days. Overall though the first impression of the hotel was pretty good. The room was clean, the linens were fresh, and the bathroom was fully stocked which are all good starts. The room came with a flatscreen TV as well as a fridge and a microwave. I will say that the mini fridge with the microwave sitting on top of it was kind of tacky but for the price I can't complain. As per most hotels these days the walls are paper thin. A normal volume conversation can be heard easily in the adjacent rooms. If you are a light sleeper like me this tends to be a problem. The beds were OK but not special. Kind of firm for my preference but they did the job. The room WiFi was hit or miss. I ended up using my cell phone tethering to get better access to the internet. This place has a pool/hot tub and they are maintained pretty well. The hot tub was hot, and the pump actually worked unlike a few other higher end places I have been to. The pool water was at a great temp considering the temps outside were in the teens and twenties. It got really crowded in the afternoon when a group of 15 kids showed up but that should be expected. The breakfast was decent but not mind blowing. Typical fare for these types of hotels. Overall, a great place for the price. It won't blow you away but at the price point you could do a lot worse. read more

The front desk guy was courteous. Although, it wouldn't have taken much to impress us following our visit to Best Western & the "annoyed" girl. The bathroom didn't have a fan which was weird so turn up the TV or leave the room if your husband/boyfriend has to take a poo to avoid total loss of romance in your married/dating life. Seems like the breakfast is somewhat decent but we had to bounce early to head to Decorah. Nothing special but nothing terrible. read more

My husband and I dropped in here out of the blue last Friday night. The gentleman at the front desk was extremely helpful and courteous when we came in without a reservation asking for a room. We were celebrating our anniversary and got the suite with the hot tub in the room. It was small but clean and had everything that we needed. It was a very comfortable room and extremely relaxing to be able to sit it the hot tub and then just be 3 steps from the bed. The room also had a microwave and a refrigerator in it as well. Again the room was small but it was just perfect, personally I could live it that room for a good long time. Thanks for giving us a great second affordable night to add our trip. :) read more

The front desk staff were friendly, but the room was abysmally filthy and unfunctional. The bathroom toilet was caked with up to 1/2"-thick dried excrement all around the rim; the refrigerator had no shelving inside it at all; the legs on the table (on which I had to work for three days) were so misshapen and wobbly that the slightest pressure on the table nearly caused it to collapse, along with my computer, printer and paperwork; the phone was the filthiest phone I have ever seen and it was unplugged when I arrived; the TV didn't work (it only got about 4 channels) and the front desk staff just shrugged and confirmed it didn't work [which I had told THEM]; and the room was musky and damp. I developed a terrible cough during/after the stay, which I believe is attributable to mold in the room. I couldn't change rooms or motels because I had meetings with many, many individuals over three days who already had this address as our meeting place. I contacted Wyndham, explained the situation and even attached photos. (It doesn't appear that I can post the photos here.) I asked for a refund and about a week later they offered some points, which I declined. I certainly don't want points to stay at a Wyndham property again. I have travelled in small towns within a five-state area for over 35 years and stayed in many low-priced "ma & pa" hotels, and I've never experienced a room in this pathetic situation before. read more
