The hotel itself was clean, comfortable, and our stay started out great. Unfortunately, the customer service experience late at night completely changed my impression. When I checked in, I specifically told the front desk that we had a very small, two-pound Yorkie with us. Nothing was mentioned about a $75 pet fee. Around 1:30 a.m., while I wasn't feeling well, I went downstairs with my dog to purchase a couple of drinks from the lobby market. The employee working the desk then informed me that the person who checked me in was a trainee, that I should have been charged a $75 pet fee, and proceeded to have me sign the pet paperwork--asking me to backdate it to the previous day. I understand hotels have pet policies and fees, and I have no problem paying a fee when it is properly disclosed. My issue was how this was handled. I had been upfront about the dog from the beginning, yet I was made to feel as though I had done something wrong because of an employee training mistake. The facility was good, but the late-night interaction felt rude, uncomfortable, and unnecessarily confrontational. Instead of feeling like a guest, I felt bamboozled and hassled over something I had disclosed at check-in. Better communication and a little courtesy would have made a huge difference. read more

Not a good experience went for my birthday for a nice relaxing day .. I totally get I'm not the only visitor there but as we're trying to enjoy the pool we got kicked out by a family that were drinking .. one is the ladies from this huge group yelled at us as we were getting out of elevator cause apparently we were in the way ... there were kids on every floor playing with the buttons of the elevator so we couldn't get to floor we wanted right away ... and early in the morning for 2 hours they are yelling and running up and down the hall and knocking on the door playing around ... it was not a very pleasant stay for my birthday ... very sad cause I was looking so forward to being here... I have to say hotels and motels ratings by people tend to be very subjective based on single experiences. At some point, you just pull the trigger. That's what we did here. Got to the property around 1 PM. Asked if by chance the room is ready and was told "If it is, it's a $40 early check-in fee." That was a shock as I have never been told this by any property. After we checked in noted that we didn't get any water. My wife went to the lobby and was told "You are only Silver status, but will give you water anyways." What??? We stayed here on New Year's Eve cuz wanted my 2 toddlers to sleep & not be scared with all the craziness out there. Our studio was beautiful & super clean. Staff was amazing & we were able to sleep. Bathrooms aren't ventilated so you get the previous visitors body odors Pillows are laughably tiny Front door isn't sealed so you get an aggressive draft from the hallways My units bathroom had a fecal smell to it There was blood like stains in the shower!? i wouldn't wish the hampton inn & suites modesto-salida on anyone... that said, 1 stars for the lack of reinvestment. everything is very worn down, from building, furniture, to even linens. walls are extremely thing. i was welcomed with insomnia from the constant vehicular sounds blowing by the street, neighbors being up all night, and hallway noises. no, the complimentary bedside earplugs didn't help. we tried to turn on the hvac unit and there was dust blowing everywhere and smelled musky. we quickly aborted that mission. but why 2 stars? because i can tell the staff tries and work hard. the standard hilton breakfast buffet was actually presentable, clean, and edible. $137/night for insomnia, awesome deal. read more

I should be refunded the whole night stay since the Manager, was vacumming at 10:30pm the lobby carpet and I had to ask him to stop since it was so loud!! What was wrong with him!?? I should have read reviews here before booking a room here. This is the worst hotel anywhere in the country. Booked for a week but left after a night! My son slept on the couch bed and got bit by a bug. Spent two days taking him to urgent care and emergency room because his hand got really swollen. Waited for Ecolab result but the management refused to disclose the outcome of the test. This is a shame to Hilton brand . This was one of the most conveniently easy hotel bookings I've experienced. We were told by the wedding party from the wedding we were attending over the weekend that they had a deal set up for guests. However, I went and made my own reservation through Hampton Inns website and also used my rewards credit card and got an even better deal than than what was offered for the wedding. I called ahead before our arrival date to see if we could have early check-in. Customer service over the phone was so nice and helpful. When we arrived guest services was also exceptionally nice and helpful. I really can tell that these people enjoy working here. We loved the bed. Great linens that weren't to bleached out like some hotels do. Our room was right by the lobby which I was initially worried about the noise but it wasn't that bad. The window was really loud when we got here with wind blowing through it even though it seemed shut. I had to fiddle with the latch a few times and it finally closed and the whistling stopped. The breakfast in the morning was great. These type of hotels have really upped their continental breakfast game. There was lots of great options for us to choose from. Check out was easy and quick and we were on our way home. This may not be a normal destination but if you find yourself out in this part of California and need a nice room with great customer service and breakfast, you should come here. read more

Just spent 2 weeks at this hotel on business. The first week the room had hot Cheetos all along the bed so I know the room wasn't thoroughly cleaned. Week 2 different room. I slept in the bed closest to the bathroom wall for the first two nights of my stay and after my back was hurting so badly from that bed I thought I would try the bed closer to the window. When I pulled the sheets down there was someone else's butt juice in the bed, it was disgusting. I called the front desk. The desk attendant (a man) came up and took the sheets and left a blanket on the bed. The door to my hotel room was broken wouldn't lock from the inside and he had trouble getting out the door and said oh your doors not working and I said yeah I know, they did call the next day to see if they could go in and fix the door, but never apologized for the nasty sheets in the other bed, and I was given no apologies and quite frankly the front desk Gal was pretty flippant and just simply didn't care. This hotel is ok. The wifi didn't work consistently. Some computers worked, others didn't. The lobby is very comfortable but the entire time I was there it stunk like rotten vegetables (garbage?) So I couldn't stay for more than 10 minutes. The toilet was clogged when we arrived and just didn't flush well. Bed was not very comfortable. The coffee was very good. Some staff were friendly, others not so much. Everyone seemed to be arguing over issues with their rooms and upgrades or something. Huckleberry's is great for food. This hotel is so so and not in a great area. read more

I have stayed here several times since I visit the area frequently and I have been a Hilton Honors member for many years; however I won't stay here again. The property is ok, nothing special but nothing bad. My main issue is that check in using the Hilton honors app only works if you are a gold or diamond member. Last 2 times I stayed here I checked in using the app, which said I was all set, only to find out when I got here that I was not really checked in and in one case they gave away the room the app said was mine. What do you look for when you go to a hotel. Clean? Off the freeway? Close to restaurants/gas stations? Breakfast? Friendly? Well, Hampton Inn really accommodates everything. No, the rooms aren't super fancy, but they're clean and they have a microwave and fridge. The breakfast is not a full on buffet style, but, they have: cereal, waffles, pastries, oatmeal, yogurt, fresh fruit, cooked and hard boiled eggs and a protein. The hotel is right off the freeway with Perko's and Burger King in the parking lot and a gas station. The gas is pretty pricy, but, its there. There's also a strip of restaurants in walking distance to the hotel. Little Caesars, sushi, and a Mexican restaurant. The pool is a good size with tables and chairs and you can look outside your window and see if there are people occupying the pool, or if it is free. The staff was always smiling and ready to answer questions. Weird things that didn't affect the star rating: -The elevator is crazy slow, but I couldn't seem to find the stairs. -When we checked in there was a plate of cookies, but, we didn't see the cookies for the rest of our stay... I don't know where they went. -There is a fridge full of nothing in the mini-store next to the front desk. -You have to use your hotel key to use the bathroom in the lobby. -Strangers walking outside near the pool and near Burger King. read more

We stay here a few times a year when we come back to town. The staff is always accommodating to our family of 5, and this time was no different. I think the manager's name was Casey, and she was a big help! The rooms are comfortable, and the free breakfast is so good! They have juices, smoothies, waffles, cereal, eggs & breakfast meat. Coffee and tea are always available, and there is a little food pantry. The rooms have a microwave & a mini fridge. We haven't tried the pool, but it's outside if you're wondering. This is the worst Hampton Inn I have ever been to. After a ten-hour road trip, I waited literally 15 minutes at the check-in counter for a couple in front of us to try numerous payment options that all failed. They ended up just leaving. There was only one check-in person and she insisted on going through the whole procedure with them, rather than just asking them to step aside while we completed our two-minute check-in. After finally getting checked in, we were greeted by an unmasked group of 20ish people by the elevators. None of the employees said anything to them. This same group camped out in the lobby all night - still unmasked, still nothing from the employees. Our room smelled like weed from the people smoking and yelling next door. This was the best hotel we have stayed at on our 7 day trip. The web-site was easy to use, up on arrival at night, the entire parking lot was well lit. Every staff member I have encountered has been pleasant and helpful. The entire place was open, airy, well lit. Our room was comfortable and very roomy. Plenty of USB connectors for charging electronics. Both my husband and I slept well on the comfortable bed. Before leaving I used the guest restroom on the 1st floor. I was very impressed. They thought of everything. There were femenine products and a sharps container. I definitely recommend staying here. read more

I stayed here while on a business trip. This location is very typical of Hampton Inn & Suites. I will tell you that the front desk staff was very friendly and personable. It is close to restaurants and other things but you will have to drive (about a mile). The rooms were very comfortable and clean. I don't need much but those are two things that are CRITICAL.. It is a little tough to get in and out of the hotel (depending on which way you are heading), but nothing horrible. Overall this is a good hotel to stay in while you are traveling read more

Great room, friendly staff, would use again. Check in was a breeze, and the room was remodeled with ample room for 2 party members.

The wrong date was booked through Expedia (room was reserved the day before), when I showed up, they stated they did not have any rooms available and were unwilling to refund the charge for the room. This is a great example of profit over customer service. While our conversation was cordial, they were unwilling to "do the right thing". At this point, I would not recommend this hotel, because if they are unwilling to make it right on this item, I can only assume they would make an unpleasant stay even more unpleasant. read more

I'm a little disappointed in the stay. The hotel didn't seem very clean and the coffee maker was disgusting on the inside where the water goes. The carpet was wet in some spots. (Weird). The security guard though was totally awesome and fun to talk to. The breakfast was good except the eggs came a little dry. I like staying because of the breakfast they offer. Stayed here over the weekend for a wedding. The staff was very nice however, there were drunk people hanging out in the parking lot. And some guy (seemed like a staff member, not the ladies at the front desk) was yelling in the hallway at 11pm. The rooms were ok. I didn't feel like they were clean enough up to my standards. And then they called me saying they found the video game I left in the room(and I never called asking for it, nor do I own any video games) which makes me think it was from the guests who stayed there before me. Which means they didn't throughly clean my room before check in. I think this hotel has the potential to be nice, but it could use some help. On a positive note, the complimentary breakfast was yummy and well set up. It's nice that they have a snack area to purchase food when your hungry in the middle of the night. The location has convenient freeway access. The ladies at the front counter were super accommodating. Will I stay here again? Probably not. read more

This review is specifically for the reception staff (Katie and I don't know the other gals name?). They were so sweet and thoughtful!! My family and I stayed here overnight to break up our drive to Yosemite where my brother and fiancee were having their engagement photo shoot the next morning. When the ladies found out we were going to miss breakfast because we had to leave before the crack o' dawn (gotta get those sunrise shots!), they packed us little to-go breakfasts. On our way back, we stopped in to use to the restrooms and the ladies were so excited to find out how the shoot went. They wanted to see pics and let us fill up our water bottles from the fancy dispenser since it was a hot day.
