Front desk, same person as at check-in, confirmed they had my bag, but that they were unable to ship. She even said they would be unable to if I provided the shipping envelope with pre-paid label. Said I could call back on Monday to talk to the manager. I did, the manager was not working until Tuesday but I got another front desk person who confirmed they do ship, and the manager would take care of it and would call to let me know they did so. 2 full days go by... no call so I do (Thursday) to see what the status is. Got the original front desk person again. She told me the manager was gone for the week and to call back the following week. So if she was being honest- this means the manager is in for two days a week..? I told her this was unacceptable and I needed to know if the item was shipped. She put me on hold for awhile and then confirmed it was shipped. Fast forward two days, yesterday (Friday), I receive my bag and most of the contents of my bag were stolen. I am gutted. My favorite jewelry including a ring from my dead mother that she gave me when I was a kid, and some of my other 'everyday' pieces that I had removed for the move but wanted to personally carry on me. They also stole inexpensive items like my razor, cheap face serum (almost empty, $10 on amazon), medication (a controlled substance), and more. I immediately called the hotel crying. The front desk person said she would leave a note for house keeping and the manager but I wouldn't be surprised if I never hear from them given the rest of my experience. I had left a good tip in the room for the housekeepers too. I had some other unfortunate things happen during my checkout day as well- I would say there are good people everywhere but the Modesto/Salida area is rough- I would highly recommend staying elsewhere if you can. These are beautiful rooms. The beds are so comfortable. The exterior is just as beautiful. It is pretty quiet considering you share a parking lot with several food businesses. The only bad thing was I asked for a coffee pot because mine has not worked yet. He asked for my room number and off he went. I am still waiting after 3 hours and now am off to work. read more

Great place for my one night stay. While attending a birthday party out here. Clean, updated, continental breakfast sausage eggs waffle cereals juice danish muffins etc. not freakin bad. 2nd time at a la Quinta and I wasn't disappointed. Yes they have carts to bring in your own luggage. No room service for food. Which I wasn't expecting cause I know it's not like a 300$ night hotel. But paying 110$ I would much rather stay here. Dog friendly hotel. I've been here since 4th of July b/c some crack whore ran her car into my house. Rooms are well kept, staff is accommodating, they serve breakfast every morning that consists of Belgian waffles, egg and cheese omelets, sausage, hard boiled eggs, cereal, milk, yogurt, apple and orange juice. I arrived to hotel at 2 pm on Sep 17 2023. Receptionist said check in time will be on 3 pm and need to wait another 1 hour. I said I am wyndham diamond member ( highest member of frequent stay customer) is eligible in wyndham rewards hotel. I said may i request free early check in according to my my membership privileges. She reply that early check in will cost $25 and there is no way aviod that fees . I do not wish to $25 for 1 hour early check and can not accept my diamond member. I had to put all of my luggage to the car and have to wait in the lobby for next 1 hr after the long drive. Gross!!! Has cockroaches!!! I'm a travel nurse and was looking for a good hotel to stay in while on my travel assignment. I decided to try La Quinta Hotel in Modesto because of the great reviews. On my second night, I found cockroaches in the bathroom! Clearly, this is a sign of poor housekeeping and cleanliness. On top of that, large piles of trash was kept outside my room by the housekeeping staff. Do yourself a favor, and spend the extra money to stay at the Hampton Inn next door!!! Great staff but just would not recommend. Room keys didn't work to open any doors in the building or outside, elevator smelled like cigarettes and the hallways reeked of weed. Breakfast was great. Pool was great. Gym was great just wished keys worked. Also something weird i noticed was that i brought my firestick from home to use on the tv and i would not be able to turn my room light off without giving my tb signal. I am working for the county of Stanislaus for two months, I am a subcontractor. I stay at a lot of hotels unfortunately. The room is OK here. It is the hospitality that is very worrisome. I would really save your money and go to the hotel right next-door! Some of the worst customer service I've ever had. They made more excuses, used so much energy to talk around the situation. Tough to say whether I really think that this property deserves 3 stars or 4 as its rating, in all honesty. ON THE PLUS SIDE: The room was comfortable and nicely updated. The front desk clerk at check-in was friendly and great. ON THE MINUS SIDE: The hotel needs better soundproofing, as there is a lot of noise coming into the room from the nearby roadway. The air conditioning unit in our room was also very loud when running. The desk clerk at check-out couldn't be bothered to stop texting someone when we needed her attention in order to check out of our room. By the time we tried out La Quinta (Salida - but pretty much located at the northwest corner of Modesto) I had already tried out a few Modesto hotels. Overall, La Quinta was the best value and most chill place of our hotel stays. Unfortunately, Modesto does not have a extended stay hotel. Pros Included self-serve breakfast everyday. Waffle maker available every day. The waffle maker teflon started to peel, but it was pretty quickly replaced -within about two days. Breakfast area is remodeled - modern and pretty. Breakfast employee stays out of the way. In comparison to the Springhill Suites breakfast (where the employees are always frantically running around, refilling things, and they get kind of nosy), the La Quinta breakfast is pretty chill. It doesn't have as fancy food offerings like fresh strawberries like Springhill did, but a saving of at least $50 per day is worth it. They still have toast, muffins, small oranges, red apples, yogurt, coffee, etc. The breakfast area is also out of view of the front desk (not including their security cameras). It has a tv in the area. Okay sized clothes dresser for our room with two double beds. 4 compartments for our room. TV is from Dish Network and seemed faster than other hotels. Business center is a separate enclosed room with door. Clock is kind of loud. Two computers and one printer. One of the computers was unusable because some random person had put their own password on the computer. Pool and jacuzzi. Stray cats wander around and some flies got kind of annoying when sitting in the jacuzzi, but at least the pool and spa were functional. I think the flies hang around the pool area because they are attracted to the cat waste. Somebody feeds the stray cats near the pool area. Not a great idea. It's near the freeway without being too crazy loud. I think I could hear the trains at night sometimes, so earplugs or ear buds are recommend. It is next door to the library although there is no short path. You have to walk around the whole hotel towards Sisk Rd. to get to the library. The front desk staff are very nice, but not nosy. After getting sick of another hotel nearby (which had terrible, loud guests at night), I approached the friendly front desk employee at La Quinta one morning to check the hotel's availability. He suggested I wait for the manager who would be in the office in a couple minutes to check if there was a special deal for a long term stay. The manager was also very nice and I got a very reasonable rate for a multi-week stay. Overall, if you don't want to spend an extra $50-$80 to stay at the Springhill Suites by Marriott, I think La Quinta was a great option. _____ Con Our top floor room was located near the housekeeping linen closet. During the day, the linen closet is opened and closed a couple dozen times. Housekeeping would let the door slam every time. Bad if you're trying to sleep in. Tiny spider on bed one time. Towels not soft and varying shades of white and off-white. Bed top cover slippery, it kept falling off onto the floor (gross). I eventually safety pinned it to the sheets. Hallway carpet needed deep cleaning. But about two weeks after we checked in, they cleaned the carpet and it was night and day. Much better after the cleaning. Hole in shower curtain Slight mildew smell in the bathroom, couldn't figure out how to get rid of it. I even tried opening the room window. Bathtub slippery (be careful), they provide a suction cup mat Dish network randomly started pausing/would get pixelated. Cartoon network/Nickelodeon would work 10% of time. Several HBO channels. You have to get pool towels each time from the front desk staff. Laundry room - one of the machines was out of order. Hope they fix it, because there could be two washers and two dryers. The dryer was kind of fickle. Sometimes, I would have to double dry my clothes. Other times, it would dry the clothes extremely hot to where buttons on clothes could burn you if you touch it right after drying. Microwave has a turn dial. You can't adjust the power setting. read more

One night stay while attending a nearby women's conference. This is my second year staying at this location for conference. Check in is 3pm, but we decided to stop by as soon as we arrived at about 12pm and the room was ready! Which was perfect for us, since our conference started at 2. Room was ok. Too many dogs barking in other rooms. My complaint is that I forgot my headphones. I called very quickly and let them know. I told them exactly where I left them. Desk person said she would call back in 20 min. She never called back. I called and was given, " Uh.. I checked and nothing found." Not very convincing. My brother in law left his headphones at gym nearby and they immediately found them. I felt dismissed and find it hard to believe they didn't find them. Not a very good experience. read more

Our stay was quiet and cozy, I got into the shower though I seen a USED towel while showering and my the morning breakfast in the lobby was closed, gym and pool were also both closed due to COVID-19. Location is great right off the freeway. About a mile away from great restaurants like Mike's grill house in modesto. Staff was friendly when checking in. We stayed in the king suite with jacuzzi hot tub that was very nice and big! Kinda pricey but got our money worth and they did a buffet breakfast food was good. read more

If could give this place zero stars, I would but since I actually didn't get the opportunity to stay here, I will just state that the "General Manager" (who is probably the franchise owner) has no regards for his staff, his customers nor the reservation policy. I had to be in Modesto this past weekend for my DD's State Speech and Debate Tournament. I was a parent driver, quasi chaperone and a judge at the tournament. I was not staying at the same hotel as my daughter's team (for a reason) and had made a reservation at the LQ because it was located around the corner from the hotel where the kids were. My reservation was made directly through the LQ website (not a 3rd party) on March 24th. When I arrived at 3:20 to check into the hotel, they wanted to give me a smoking room behind the "glass door". What I mean by glass door was literally, smoking rooms were all behind a special glass door and upon opening it is like walking into a Vegas Casino with none of the benefits. I did not reserve a smoking room and the manager had just "hoped" I wouldn't have an issue with it... I literally could not breathe just in the hallway alone and the offer to "Ionize" the room (but I would have to be out of the room when this happened) would not have done anything to help the stale stagnant smell of nasty permeating cigarette smoke that just in the 5 minutes of walking through the hall and into the room clung to my hair, clothing, etc. The desk clerk called the General Manager (who was not on site) who suggested I look for a room at the Howard Johnson's in another town as all rooms in the area were booked up due to the tournament and other things going on in town. I was also informed by the clerk that it was the "manager" who prioritized who got what rooms and regardless that many had not checked into the hotel yet, was given no other solution. I spent 2 hours in the lobby of the hotel attempting to find a room somewhere close enough and watched as many people came to check in for the stated 3pm check-in time for them to be told the rooms were not clean yet (3:15, 3:30, 4:00 and upon leaving at 4:45) could see how the people working at this location took their lead from the lack of take charge management style. I did call into the corporate HQ yesterday and received an email from the "General Manager" that was full of typos and he did offer me a "complimentary room" at his location. I would NEVER come back to this location and will most likely never ever book with a LQ again. I see that another reviewer gave this location 5 stars for her stay over the weekend but note that the actual manager was never onsite the entire weekend. Reviews are subjective, but if I were to have issues at check-in, things in the room did not work properly, etc. by no means would that warrant a 5 star rating. BE WARNED- this is one of the very few chains that still has smoking rooms and even if you have asthma, they won't give a hoot. read more

What a shocker! I stayed here based entirely on the great rate I got from Hotwire. I'm talking less than $50 bucks. I braced myself for the worst....and can honestly say I got the shock of my life. Dollar for dollar, this is the greatest hotel value I've ever had. And just so we are clear....I'm 56, and have traveled worldwide a LOT. Bed was very comfortable....the pillows were way above my expectations. The room was clean, the employees friendly and helpful...and I had a great night here. Knock me over with a feather. Well done Salida La Quinta....well done. Hell...I even got to let my dog stay with us in the room. It simply does not get better than this. I'd say this if I had paid $125 a night. read more

When I was sent to train for week at my company's regional headquarters in Modesto, I got an email from one of the coordinators saying that we were staying at a La Quinta. I had no issues staying at a La Quinta for business, my company probably has some good contract rates with them. But what struck me was that I wasn't staying in Modesto, I was actually in Salida. I thought to myself, "My company so cheap, they won't even let me sleep in Modesto." I came with low expectations, expecting a dingy dated motel on the side of highway 99. I'm glad to say that this establishment has exceeded my minimal expectations by far. It was a clean and new place and the service was attentive and friendly. No hotel bar, but there is a liquor store within easy walking distance. Breakfast was a nice surprise but the eggs were a bit weird. This hotel was easy to book, free wifi, close to the highway, clean and fresh sheets, the pool was small but ok for the kids. Loved it has Landry service, gym, office and large breakfast Buffet. Weekends are louder with a lot of kids from travel teams, not great for a business person, unless you can request a room in a corner maybe to the left. Not next to the pool or stairs. Close to fast foods and a gas station. Will book again if we are in the area. read more

As others have stated, this place has a great policy to let dogs stay in the rooms. The issue is that this has two huge down sides. Since they don't change the comforters after each guest and you happen to be allergic to dogs, you will get hit hard. The second issue, which is even more important, are the little pests that dogs sometimes carry. I found a flea on me and woke up with several flea bites. I just hope I didn't carry home any of those little pests. Without the fleas, I would rate this place a 3. The place is dated, the carpet had a ton of stains on it, bathroom was clean, and the breakfast was so so. On the plus side, the staff was very friendly. read more

This was my first stay in a La Quinta Inn. I stayed here in May of this year. I was amazed by the cleanliness of the location plus the amenities it provides for such a small hotel. This location is new so that explains the great outer appearance and inner lobby appearance. The rooms are in perfect conditions and their beds are very comfortable. We had a great night rest. Breakfast is complimentary and it is great. Of course for this type of hotel, the breakfast offers cereal, muffins, coffee, waffles, toast fruits and other items to list a few but somehow I was still impressed by the quality of the food which was great. For a 2 and a half star Hotel, I was very impressed and would stay here again when I come to see my in-laws in Modesto. read more

My family and I were thoroughly impressed with this hotel, from check in through check out. This does not feel in any way, like the stereotypical "la Quinta" type of hotel. It feels more like a Westin on the inside. We were in town for 2 days, and stayed through both of them, in the room. 6 of us, 2 beds, and 1 puppy! The pool was great, especially with the 108' temp outside. Also, The breakfast was a nice change from usual just toast and juice. The employees are very friendly, and the rooms are super clean! My husband and I stayed here a few weeks ago, and had an okay experience. First, I will share that the rooms (and the hotel in general) are not the cleanest. The carpets were very stained and dingy. Do not stay in this hotel if you want to get to sleep at a decent time; there was some sort of team of teenage girls running around the hotel and screaming well after 10:00pm, and while the management did address it, we had to call them back three times.The next night, we were awakened at around 2:00am by a couple having some *ahem* special time in a neighboring room. The walls are kind of thin. I am surprised by the people who said they enjoyed the breakfast...I just wanted a banana, but the only fruit they had were some sad little apples and oranges. To be fair, I did get down there around 7:00am, so maybe the better fruit was already taken. I have definitely stayed at worse hotels, but this isn't one I would recommend if other options are available. read more

I was very unhappy when my masked daughter and I walked in the lobby to check in and no one had masks on. The woman at check in was unmasked. I asked why no masks when it is mandated. She said it depends on the establishment and no one is going to come after you about it here. We are here for a state cup soccer tournament and families are here from all over CA. This is outrageous and ridiculous that I am paying over $200 a night for such flippant carelessness for the health and safety of their guests. read more

I have to say that we are glad that we stayed here even after the most recent reviews. One of those reviews was extremely inappropriate talking negatively about one of the female staff. We found out this person was actually pregnant and that reviewer should be ashamed of themselves! This is a beautiful hotel and all of the staff here was very friendly and accommodating. Our room was perfect and hardly heard any noise on the third floor. We did have some trouble with Wyndham rewards but were able to get that resolved during our stay. We originally came for one night and extended to three. It was one of the best La Quinta hotels we have stayed at and will be back again soon! read more

I stayed at this hotel over the weekend, I was in town for a wedding. I must say, the exterior of the hotel was extremely well maintained and very welcoming, it was actually quite nice. The lobby was nicely done and very clean, the rooms quite nice and "current" looking as well. My son loved the breakfast, there were many items available to choose from. We did have a few issues upon check in, and our couch bed didn't work (which posed a bit of a problem since that was where our 4 year old was to sleep), but when I brought this to the attention of the manager, he went above and beyond. There should be more managers like him that take pride in their guests comfort and happiness. I would definitely recommend staying here if you need a place to say in Modesto. On another note, they do have a smoking floor (which luckily we were not on and I was surprised to find there were still hotels in CA that allow smoking indoors), but if you need a room that is non-smoking, be sure to book your room thru their site and not the 3rd party sites to ensure you can be accommodated. read more

We stayed at this hotel for a dog show weekend. The price was a bit more than the flea bag motels around this area, and this place was clean and dog friendly. Since it was a big dog show weekend there were many other dog patrons there too. We were able to do an early check-in at 2 PM, and we really appreciated this, especially at no extra cost. The only reason I five them 4 stars is because the room key doesn't work on the hall way door lock half the time, making us go through the main entrance all the way around many times. But overall this was great stay and we'll be back! read more
