Hands down, best hotel in Modesto. Great location, great customer service, and very clean. Everyone at the front desk was friendly and helpful when we recently stayed here for the first time. We got a great room, located very close to the pool area. We loved that the hotel was so close to all the American Graffiti festivities downtown. The hotel has a work out room in addition to the pool and a restaurant with a bar. We will return next year and hopefully stay in the same room. This is the big hotel for Modesto, next to the convention center and adjacent to the nice downtown area. Parking is across the street in a municipal structure. You save $1 by having it as part of your hotel stay. There's a sky bridge on the 3rd floor which helps you avoid the street, which is quite busy during daylight and without any cars at night. I've stayed here twice. The rooms are comfortable and the furniture is in good condition. There's lots of water pressure and the bathrooms are clean. Unfortunately, I had problems with my room's AC on both stays. The first time I was on the hot side of the building and thought it might have been that but it did not get better once the sun went down. Maintenance came, checked the temp and acknowledged the warmth, said they could not do anything and left. On my second stay, the guy thought it might be the curtains blocking the airflow so he moved them and left. It never cooled down. I called downstairs, they brought me a key to another room, and I packed up and moved myself to another room. The next room was definitely an improvement but still not as cool as I like. A bit of a hassle but luckily I wasn't in a rush. Kudos to the front desk for accommodating me in such a drama free way. One of the better hotels in the area but what made my experience great was the customer service provided by the reception lady that was there this past Friday and Saturday night. I arrived really tired from a long drive around 4am Saturday morning. She was very sweet and accommodating, and quickly set me up with a nice room. I did not know this hotel was this nice! We had to stay here for a week due to having work completed in our home and it was an unexpected staycation. We went for the hotel breakfast every morning and the servers and staff were so nice! I chatted with Marie for a bit and she was kind and helpful. The housekeepers tending to the rooms were always checking on us and if we needed extras they were delivered to the room quickly. My family and I just stayed at your hotel the other night on our road trip. It was our first time in the area and we can honestly say that it was our best night sleep for the whole entire trip. We only stayed one night but, we hated to leave because, we were so comfortable. We actually compared your hotel to the other hotels that we stayed at during our trip and they didn't even compare at all to yours. Your hotel is absolutely beautiful, staff is wonderful, the breakfast was great, and we thought the night was very quiet. We heard a train but, that didn't bother us at all. We walked to dinner that night a few blocks away and I noticed some areas that we would have loved to walk to the next morning but, we had to get on the road. This a lovely looking hotel that has a restaurant and a bar. They have valet parking for a fee and a paid self parking across the street. Be careful crossing the busy street! If you park on the upper floors in the parking structure, there is a bridge that connects to the hotel. Calling the hotel to speak to the front desk staff or commutating via the Hilton app was difficult and not too efficient. Possibly the toughest issue was trying to get a good nights rest due to the constant train horns throughout the night. This would not be a place for light sleepers. On two occasions I discovered glassware with lipstick stains. This could be a corrected with some simple training. I reserved a room on a lower floor but got put in an upper floor room. Be careful if you have children with the showers having extremely hot water! The water thermostat thermometer temperature may need to be lowered. read more

We stayed here one night after a show at the Gallo Center for the Arts. We checked in hours before the show, and I noticed a black van and large security looking men outside. One staff member confirmed that we just missed Keanu Reeves and his band! Location is perfect - walking distance to restaurants and the theater. The staff was professional, but the ladies working the Sunday breakfast buffet were outstanding. I wish I could remember her name, but one of our friendly servers brought pancakes for my sister after they chatted for a bit. My sister was surprised and thankful, as she had planned to get them herself after finishing her eggs and other protein. Our room was spacious, clean, and had all of the expected amenities. Yes the $15 pp.room credit would have covered it but the quality wasn't worth it.. the under 5 y/o loved it though so that was nice. Our stay there was a noisey and an uncomfortable one. The hourly train arrivals made it so the two nights we were there, no resting or sleeping was done. Stayed for one nice and upon first entering the room and inspecting everything I found food trash on the floor and a nail file. The following morning after using the restroom I noticed an issue with the toilet and called down to the front desk to see if they could send maintenance up to inspect. We had a late checkout and nobody came. We also paid for valet parking and every time we were coming or going between the time they were there we had to ask for them one point we waited 5 min after asking before an employee came.Besides these issues all the staff were super nice and friendly and answered any questions we had. read more

I had a very unpleasant stay. We were evacuated at 11:30 PM due to a false fire alarm, which disrupted the entire night. The hotel is located directly across from a train station, so there were loud train horns going off throughout the night, making it difficult to sleep. Parking is also across the street, and walking back to the hotel entrance at night didn't feel very safe, with multiple people approaching us asking for money. The hotel itself was pretty clean and updated, staff was polite and professional, but be aware that there are train tracks right next to the hotel, and trains run by almost every hour throughout the night. On top of that, they feel the need to continuously honk their loud train horn every time they pass by. HORRIBLE experience at this amateur production of a hotel. The worst staff we've EVER had to deal with at any hotel, nationwide- TAMMY bring the worst of them. It's quite frankly absurd you expect anybody to believe this is sincere, especially when you rob guests of their hard-earned dollars and completely come up short on doing your job as a hotel. And then to ask people to fill out a survey -??! wasting more of their good time and energy - shame on you. You care?!! Refund their money and call them on the phone to apologize. That's a sincere apology. Anything else is complete trash. We ran into so many problems during our three day stay, mostly due to them being completely understaffed, and the staff being completely under-trained - and consistently Tammy would make promises along with the rest of the front desk that they would take care of something - and then inevitably an hour later we be following up just to get another round of lame excuses as to why they hadn't kept their promise. When we checked in, there was literally no one in sight to help either with directing us for parking, nor to help us with our bags. This was after a long drive up and us calling ahead and promised that there would be ballet and bell service when we arrived. Adding to the absurdity, there were no luggage carts anywhere to be seen. And the person at the front desk, merely shrugged when we stated that we had no way to get our luggage up to the room. They literally could care less - but darn if they aren't Super proud to send you off with two stale "Fresh Baked cookies" that literally taste like wood. This is their calling cards so to speak, but we would've been far happier with luggage racks and someone to help us with the damn parking. Forget the cookies Doubletree - how about training your staff and hiring a few more staff to help guests if you know you are booked at capacity. As the final insult, something completely illegal went down with staff entering our room without our permission while we were still in residence - invading our privacy - and no apology was offered, and Tammy literally never followed up after promising upon checkout she would ensure things got taken care of. To add insult to injury, they only have two disabled parking spots in the entire parking lot - claiming that that's the minimum they're allowed to have - so anyone else disabled is forced to park across the street in a giant parking garage - nowhere near the entrance of the hotel! How is that compassionate to the disabled?! We sampled one lunch at their restaurant/bar - AWFUL and grossly overpriced - the lettuce was literally browned and mostly rind... No actual leaves of lettuce??!! For $16$!! And as if just to make it as incredibly awful an SNL skit as possible - the hotel is literally located right next to the railroad tracks that run through Modesto -!! So every 45 minutes during the night ( NOT making this up!) - it's like those scenes from MY COUSIN VINNY - loud train horns go off at all hours, constantly waking us up, along with all of the banging, slamming doors from all of the less-than-classy Guests, who were staying the same weekend. Literally the worst possible experience you can imagine... Book any other hotel in Modesto, and know that you're doing yourself a tremendous favor. Man, has the HILTON brand gone downhill. Room smelled terrible upon entry. The walls and door handles were scratched with fading paint. Curtain buttons didn't work, and the connecting door looked like it had been forced open, with visible damage. The front door shook about every 10 minutes, which was disturbing. On arrival, the front desk agent, Paul, couldn't even find my reservation and was about to charge me again for room, tax, and deposit--even though I had prepaid. I had to correct him so I wouldn't be double-charged. Paul also never told me about paid self-parking; I only found out when I got to the garage and saw a payment was required. Most guests would expect self-parking to be free (much like at most hotels), especially compared to valet. But apparently not here! Despite these issues, there were no apologies or basic courtesy from Paul. I ended up charged $12 for parking--even though I checked out less than 20 minutes after arrival because the room was simply unclean and unsanitary. I had tried to get a refund before check-in due to a family emergency, but was denied. I came alone, hoping for a decent stay, but the unacceptable room condition made it impossible. I recently stayed here, on the 12th, and I wish I would've stayed at a Best Western Inn...which was the same price and by FAR, a better deal! I'm extremely disappointed that they didn't have complementary breakfast and I had to pay $4.95 for a small cup of coffee! Lounge area closes WAY too early. I sat at one of the lounge area tables and had a glass of wine, while reading, all the while shooing away fruit flies. I dumbly forgot my toothbrush and the front desk guy said I could have one for $6. So, off to the Dollar Tree I went for one, that looked like an actual toothbrush and not a makeshift prison shank they offered. They said the parking ticket would be validated but it's not. When I asked, the lady said they take off the $3 so it's $12 and not $15. That's not validated...it should have been free. The tv "guide" wouldn't pull up and it only gave me 12 channels to choose from...which was the News or House hunting shows. The one perk? The bed was comfortable. read more

More than just the hotel what we really loved about this Double Tree was the service. We were greeted and valet parked our car. The front desk was great. We wanted some sort of a view, not the parking lot and they were able to deal with that. They spent time with us and clearly wanted us to be happy. We had someone take all our bags to the room and he was great. The maid staff is friendly and when you ask for extra towels and soap they are right on it. All of them could be working at a resort. I really felt appreciated. Our room was spotless, we had a double room, and the beds were very comfortable. We asked for an additional pillow and had it in 10 minutes. The AC works great, it was very hot that day. The bathroom was a decent size and boy was it clean. Everything worked and we were able to get on line very fast. We were tired both days so we just ate there. It was great. From breakfast to dinner we were very happy. They are located right off Highway 99, next door to Modesto Centre Plaza and a movie theater. We did not go to the movies so I have no idea if it is nice. The hotel is only blocks from the Gallo Center for the Arts, State Theatre, and McHenry Mansion. It is nice to just take a walk at night. Modesto is a small town but it is friendly and a great place to find peace and quiet. We always love the warm DoubleTree cookie at check-in. They have a nice outdoor pool and we took full advantage of it. It was clean and very comfortable. The fitness center is well fitted and kept very clean. It was never crowded when we were there. We loved it. We indulged in a few treatments at the AVEDA spa and then had a great, quiet nap. We loved all of it. read more

The yelp reviews are way more accurate for this location; the google reviews are artificially inflated, if you come here you'll see why. Terrible customer service all the way around, from the front desk, to even the valet who seemed like he straight up hated you for being there, even though his job literally revolved around him driving your vehicle 10 feet, since the valet parking is the only one on site (you have to park across the street in a random garage otherwise). The hotel is dated and gross, the carpet dingy and crunchy, which of course means gross stuff spilled on it and haven't been cleaned. The TV doesn't allow you to use inputs, stream anything, nothing, crazy for 2025 to still see hotels that block of basic usage, but hey at least all the channels are inaccurately labeled and several say unavailable! The walls are paper thin, real cool to listen in for some guy's work call for an hour straight. I could also hear the elevators moving even though I wasn't even close to them, so that's impressive if nothing else. And say you do have an issue, and want to talk to the apathetic front desk folks, so you go and give 'em a ring on the in-room phone? Oh, no, it just goes straight to some filled up voicemail. They didn't even have cookies. I've yet to see a hotel try harder to show how little they value you. You wouldn't even know it wasn't a Motel 6 if it weren't for being such a giant monstrosity of a building (which also brings more minor complaints that seem petty but they add up, like the elevators taking forever to register your keycard to use them). read more

Unfortunately, the front desk at the DoubleTree in Modesto consistently seems unhappy and unwelcoming. There were no greetings or smiles, and the overall vibe felt cold and indifferent. Management should seriously consider providing customer service training to the front desk team. First impressions matter, and this kind of reception does not reflect the standard expected from a DoubleTree property. We stayed in Modesto from Thursday to Sunday. They have valet parking or you can self park at the parking garage across the street from the hotel . They do have a parking fee per night like most hotels. The lobby is really nice with clean bathrooms and a water station to refill your Stanley cups lol . They have a microwave and snacks for purchase. They also have a coffee machine that offers from regular coffee to lattes ect . The fee is 3-4 dollars depending on the size you pick . You pay and receive your cup at the front desk. They do not offer any kind of complementary coffee. They do have a nice bar area and a restaurant . The rooms were clean and nice . The coffee machine was a little dated . It was 4 of us and we only had 2 towels when we first arrived. I had to call to get more towels the following days to come after my room was serviced we would only receive one towel I would have to call to get more . The body soap was also all out no soap inside for two days till I called . This hotel is really close by to the train so we got woken up to the train being really loud . And an other thing I wanted to mention is I feel safe that we have to use our key to go up the elevator what I did not like is that we had family in different floors that we could not visit the key only works for your floor . This was very inconvenient for us since we had not seen our family in a long time . The area around the hotel is also very sketchy I would not walk around outside at night . My room is nice but my arrival wasn't. Frail and empty, stood at the door and was granted access by my mobile key (this is why mobile check in is so convenient!) I was only given a physical key and human interaction because I didn't know which elevator to take to get to my room. She was literally upset with my that I got in with my mobile key and told me it's not supposed to work after a certain time as if it was my fault. You ever get one of those "I can feel like I'm a bother to you" moments? Well, this was that except I'm paying to stay here. I don't expect to be treated like royalty but don't treat me like I'm inconveniencing you. I went to my room, came back to move my car then asked if I could get my Diamond member redemption credit and in the nastiest tone "the water is already in the room" with a "what else do you want?!" tone, I was asked "Do you want a cookie or something?" THE COOKIES ARE CONPLIMENTARY, that's what DoubleTree is known for. A Diet Pepsi from the marketplace with my Hilton Honors would give me the complimentary continental breakfast and $15 Daily food and beverage credit for me and a guest. Oh but what do I know, I'm only a guest that has 2 stinking bottles in the room. This is one of the nicer Doubletree hotels that I have stayed in in a while. The staff here was extremely pleasant and respectful from the minute that I walked in. I did get frustrated as I was not informed that I needed my key to get to the button to my floor to work so I looked like a bit of a ding dong pushing the button over and over, nor was I informed that my digital key get me in and out of the parking garage. A co worker told me about the parking garage 2 days prior to check out. I was also extremely frustrated as I mentioned not to be placed near any highways as I am a light sleeper. They did not put me by the highway but instead put me right near the train tracks so that would keep me up the entire first night, until I was too exhausted to realize anything. The last day topped the cake though when I went to go take a shower and picked up the floor mat shower and noticed a stain on the side of it. When I flipped it over I noticed it was blood (see picture) . I told the person at the front desk who informed me that she does not know what could have happened but will let the house keeping manager know. There was not really even much of an apology. I'm sorry but that is gross. The only reason that this is getting the 2 stars is for the nice staff during the middle of my stay and the comfortable bed. read more

Wow....interesting experience...and I'm old. Pros: decent lobby with a mini-convenience section, nice full bar that was open until 10. Easy to walk to restaurants in the area. Room seemed clean enough. Cons: RIGHT NEXT TO THE TRAIN TRACKS. Obviously an issue and I do t know how I missed that. Half of the stores and restaurants in the downtown area are closed (like, papered over closed....so kind of a ghost town at the beginning of the week. there is no grocery store in the area so buy your snacks and drinks ahead of time. The room, though looked ok, must have been super dusty because I was congested and sneezing all night (I'm allergic to dust). carpets are obviously worn. very dated but I expected that so it was ok. Obviously the Tracks and the dead downtown pull their ratings down but honestly it's not managements fault. the rest of the hotel was on average ok, but the Cons were too significant to bring me back read more

I'd say this one of the nicer hotels in downtown Modesto. Within walking distance to restaurants, shops, the Gallo Center for the Arts and movie theater. Validated parking is a huge plus. The staff has always been kind & professional when I've stayed there. The rooms are ok. Nothing fancy, but clean. My only real complaint about the hotel are the pillows. The hotel and staff were great. The room was clean and very comfortable. The hotel bar however was HORRIBLE! The bartender, an older woman was totally lost and her hands were shaking when making our drinks. The drinks are 3/4 full and very light on the alcohol but still full price. There was a bald waiter that would always yell when he came in from the dining area thinking he was cute or funny.. he wasn't. A couple times it startled the bartender and our party. They also were rushing us to leave by cleaning up right next us. The bar needs to be re staffed with competent employees. Especially the bartender. read more

Our experience upon arrival to checking in was prompt and friendly. Arnalfo was kind and helpful with a good sense of humor. We asked for a pool level room which unfortunately wasn't available. Our room was spacious and clean. We decided to order room service in which we had the pleasure of being helped by Ron. He was very attentive and prompt with our food. We were very pleased with his service. We will definitely be returning to this establishment for our future stays. read more

Each time I am in Modesto for work I stay at the DoubleTree. By the end of the day I am usually too tired to venture out for dinner so I order room service. Ron always delivers my food!
