    Clean room

Upon arrival I met Ashley who was super helpful and welcoming. She recognized immediately that I was a diamond member and thanked me. That's refreshing many Hilton properties neglect that small piece. She offered me what snacks I wanted. Easy to check in. She gave me the run down of all the areas and when breakfast was, pool location, etc. Went up to my room and was pleased with how clean the room was. No issues. Very odd plumbing in shower but nothing to complain about. If there was one thing I was taken back by was the diamond parking is very oddly placed. It's spread out in different areas that don't really feel diamond. All hotels I've stayed at normally put it in the front and they are all together. Must be a reason for this for this location but again not something to complain about. I'm sitting in the very clean, hot jacuzzi while writing this review. Pool looks very nice and clean. Even has a little water fall I see. Overall I have to call out Ashely as she has been so awesome. Text to see how my room was, responded to my text about the jacuzzi quickly. Give this girl a raise. I feel very welcomed.

    Little visitors

We had unexpected guests at our stay recently. The little guys made a meal out of my husband. He's taking home some souvenirs from East Mesa. We were given a new room around 2am. The next morning my husband was instructed to call the manager as his day starts at 9am, a couple of hours after we checked out. We were compensated a whooping 5000 pts to a future stay. That's like $30. I was disappointed in the way this property handled this gross situation. I'm not the pickiest, but I'm not sharing my bed with flesh eating cave dwellers. lol. What can improve? Maybe clean the bedding? Take responsibility?

The touch-less sanitizer dispensers that I passed multiple times throughout my stay were always empty. My room had a Samsung TV, and the provider was DirecTV. The 36-button non-lighted remote had no instructions and was frustrating to use. The TV screen blinked often and was annoying. I tried to cast YouTube TV from my phone, but since it was not a Smart TV, I ended up watching TV on my laptop instead. At the buffet breakfast, I noticed an odd-looking stacked pile of thin omelets that were all the same size. I was curious and scooped one onto my plate. After I sliced it open and saw it was a frozen microwaved omelet filled with cheese, I threw it out. Next, I scooped up the softest scrambled eggs I ever had onto my plate. I needed to get a spoon to eat them since my fork did not work. The scrambled eggs were barely yellow, tasteless, and seemed as if it is diluted with milk. The TV cabinet has self-close door hinges are not adjusted properly and have no door bumpers. If I did not hold the small pull-handle tightly when I close it manually, it would slam shut loudly. What is most interesting, is that I heard the exact same slamming sound from the rooms next to me. My room was the noisiest I ever had. I could hear footsteps from guests walking above me, guests speaking and their TVs in the rooms around me, cabinet doors slamming around me, and occasionally trucks on the nearby US-60 in the late evening. My room had a type of pull-up facial tissue that was new to me. Instead of a box, it had a sealed plastic bag that was inside the decorative tissue box that was permanently stuck. Their inferior 1-ply toilet paper works well in the hotel plumbing but disintegrates when using it. On the positive side, the WiFi worked very well and there were no parking fees.

When my wife and I got to the hotel, we were able to go straight to our room and use the room key in the Hilton app to unlock the door. When we walked inside, we were amazed how spacious and clean the room was. We REALLY appreciated the fact that they left the AC on so the room was nice and cool when we got there. The pool outside is also beautiful with an outdoor bar, and appears to be two jacuzzis. The restaurant has a decent amount of seating with a covered outdoor patio. IF and a big if, you want the cookie for every person at arrival, ensure that everyone checks in together. It's only provided to the guest at check-in. Coffee and tea are complimentary while water bottles in the room are $3 per bottle unless booked through Hilton as a member. The room is spacious and the window has a two-set shade for lighting control instead of curtains. It comes equipped with a smart TV that can be hooked up to services like Netflix, Apple TV and more. If your stay is short, five days or less, and do not require housekeeping, it's best to forego the service. Trash can be easily left outside of the room or brought to the bins by the parking areas. We returned to our room on the third day, after skipping service on the second day, with fresh towels even though the towels were hung. The bed was made although with not so fresh sheets. You can most certainly tell it wasn't. It wasn't dirty to begin with, but it would've been nice to have gotten fresh sheets. The concierge staff continued to be warm and courteous at checkout as well. I won't mind staying here again.

Overall, this location was good, but it could definitely use some updates. The bathrooms felt a bit outdated, and the layout was a little awkward. The bathroom door swings open so close to the toilet that it comes within about an inch of hitting it when closing. I think a sliding door would be a much better use of the space and make the bathroom feel more functional. I also wasn't a fan of the shower, as it didn't look as clean or well-maintained as we're used to seeing at other Hyatt locations. Unfortunately, our comforter also had stains on it when we arrived. That said, the outstanding customer service made a big difference. Staff and housekeepers were nice and friendly. Shout out to Julio at the front desk who was exceptional! He was genuinely friendly, welcoming, and happy to help. After I called about the stained comforter, he personally brought us a fresh one right away since housekeeping had already left for the day. That level of attentiveness and willingness to help was greatly appreciated. Hyatt is lucky to have Julio on their team. He truly turned what could have been a disappointing stay into a much better experience. While the property itself could benefit from some upgrades, employees like Julio are what make guests want to come back.

He said I should notify the hotel for future guests. I called and confirmed we did not need a code for the medical discount. (We needed the code at a diff hotel in Scottsdale.) When we checked in, I verified we were there for medical reasons and asked what the rate was. He said we would get it at checkout. I have never stayed in a hotel that would not tell me the rate upfront. He ran my CC, but said it would not be charged until we checked out. (I did not prepay) Upon check out, the GM, Tammy would not honor the medical discount. She said because I made the reservation via Expedia, she could not give me the discount (even though I called ahead, and was told when we checked in that we would be on a medical discount rate). Luckily it was only a 3-night stay - but I was mad enough with just those days being at a higher rate. House keeping did not clean our room on the scheduled day. Although we will need to return in 6 months, location is perfect - close to medical facility and restaurants... We will never return to this hotel.

The rooms are spacious and clean, a little dated, but comfortable. The staff was friendly enough. I had to check out of my room but still had time before my flight and needed to take some meetings. The downstairs lobby area has plenty of seating and even little nooks where you can sit and work and not be disturbed. I never go down for the breakfast, but they had some decent options in their market if you are arriving late and need a little snacky snack. If you're looking for an easy and convenient space to stay, I recommend. I mean I think most people know what they are getting with a Residence Inn, but just in case the nice thing is you do get a small kitchen and there is usually some living space separate from the bed. I really felt like I had a ton of room to spread out.

There was also a small shop at the entrance selling snacks and chargers. Check-in was a bit slow as they had difficulty finding my reservation. However, the receptionists were always kind and helpful. The 2 queen bed room was spacious and included a microwave, mini fridge, coffee machine, hangers, and an iron. The bathroom had communal soap, lotion, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. There was a note on the sink stating that other toiletries were also available upon request. I wished there was more toilet paper was included as there was only one extra roll. There was a sufficient number of towels for the sink and shower. However, I found the shower to be difficult to start as the shower pin was stuck. The shower knob was also labeled backwards as the "H" was on the side of cold water instead of hot. The bed and pillows were soft and supported. The bedsheets were clean but could have been thicker. I enjoyed the easy access to outlets and lighting from the convenience of my bed. The TV was large and there was a decent number of channels available. Breakfast was simple yet executed well. The omelets were light and fluffy. Potatoes weren't always served but it was a good day when they were. Everything was seasoned and cooked well. Sausages were juicy and bacon was crispy. There was also fruit juices and coffee available. Other items included cinnamon rolls, cereal, oatmeal, and made to order pancakes. I would have loved healthier items like fresh fruit but the spread was more than sufficient for me. Although others enjoy actual dishware, the disposable plates and utensils made it easy to eat on the go. Would stay here again when visiting Mesa or Gilbert.
