Overall our experience at the Hampton Inn was pretty positive except for one major thing. First the positives, Staff - the front desk attendant was very friendly and accommodating. The staff also left us a goodie bag in our room with a personalized note as I'm Gold Status. Cleanliness - everything we saw was clean and orderly. It looked relatively new and well take care of. Showers - water pressure was good and it was HOT!!! Almost too hot to start with. The negatives: Construction - this isn't anything the hotel can help but it was a mess trying to get in there and find it because of construction. Bed quality - this was the biggest drawback for my wife and I. The bed was FIRM... like sleeping on a rock firm. We like a softer bed and this one caused some problems sleeping. If you like a firm mattress this may be perfect for you. The neutral items: Breakfast - we left too early to get breakfast so we didn't have a chance to try it. Overall, I would give them another try to see if all the beds were as firm and since there were so many positives. read more

Six years after my first visit to Richmond, Indiana's Hampton Inn, I found myself returning on yet another Tenderness Tour event and being sponsored by the same church as my last visit. I'd been wheeling on the Cardinal Greenway and then visited a local church to give a presentation. This same church put me up at the Hampton Inn and I was impressed that everything was arranged and that I did, in fact, receive an accessible room. The Hampton was recently renovated and had a much brighter, locally-themed decor including multiple references to the historic Gennett Records. I enjoyed the decor quite a bit. My room, as noted, was certainly accessible and the bed was probably the best one in terms of height. The roll-in shower was also quite good with the bench actually placed well in the shower so that everything could be reached. There are chains that do the minimum to get to call themselves ADA compliant, then there are chains that clearly make an effort to do things right. With over a couple dozen accessible feature options, Hampton, a part of the Hilton family, clearly attempts to do things right. One of the best things is that they list these options on their website - you know exactly what you're getting into upfront and, in the end, can also feel truly "welcome" regardless of your accommodation needs. This is pretty huge. This includes making sure the fitness room is accessible. This includes adaptive equipment for a wide range of disabilities. This includes accessible equipment for the pool. This includes the standard 32" width of doorways. It includes an awful lot. Is it 100% perfect? Honestly, probably not. For example, the door itself was too heavy. Also, while there's a great breakfast area I found the breakfast itself pretty disappointing. Fortunately, there is a small convenience area and I was able to make myself happy there (at a more premium price). As you may recall, I had a bit of a roach problem during my last stay. No such issues this time around. Everything was spotless. The employees were friendly, though there was one who made a weird, inappropriate wheelchair comment. I was tempted to point it out, however, I just let it go. There was a Culver's within walking distance, always a plus in my world, and the hotel is definitely in the business district. Overall, this was a very good stay. I'm not quite ready to fork over that fifth star yet. However, there's no denying this was a better stay than my last one. I'd easily call it a 4.5. For now, however, I'm skewing a bit downward and sticking with the 4-star review. I would easily stay here again. I liked all the staff, even the one who made the weird comment, but I was particularly fond of the woman who managed the breakfast area. She was warm, hospitable, and really gave the hotel a great feeling. read more

We stopped at this Hampton Inn on our way from Wisconsin to South Carolina. Our trip was during a winter storm so we were quite happy to make it to the hotel, even though it was after midnight. We were able to walk the dogs outside the hotel before going in. That may have been the toughest part of the stay -- perhaps due to the snowfall there wasn't a lot of space available for walking them. Once we got inside to check in, the desk attendant was extremely friendly. They were also well organized with Hilton Honors waters and snacks. A seamless checkin process. We got to the room which was typical. Clean enough and an OK bed. We basically went straight to sleep. When we woke up in the morning and headed outside, the staff was very friendly to us and the dogs. We stopped in the breakfast area and were quite surprised -- a number of hot food offerings, clean area, and again very organized. It was the most organized hotel hot breakfast I've seen. Overall a good stay. Friendly staff, clean facilities and a well run breakfast operation. This is in play as a road trip stop going forward for sure. read more

First and foremost, I'd like to thank the staff here. They are super friendly, accommodating, and do the best they can. Breakfast options are very good, room was pretty clean, I enjoyed staying here. Reason for 3 stars: homeless population and nothing around. We had multiple issues with homeless people which involved calling the police, and, an ambulance showed up because someone over dosed. So, on its face it looks okay, but, there are some inherent problems here. Be safe, know what you are getting into. If you are with a large group you will likely be fine. If you are traveling alone or with a small group, don't stay here. read more

This is a good can't-go-wrong hotel. I chose this hotel over others in the area mainly for the whirlpool tub. I chose my own room when checking in via the Hilton app and chose room 207. When we got here, we learned that their was a microwave incident that resulted in extremely acrid smells on the 2nd floor. Luckily there was another room on the first floor with a whirlpool. This room's configuration is a bit different and the tub isn't as comfortable but it got the job done. I also got to say the bathroom is among the roomiest and best laid out I've experienced at any hotel. The walk-in shower (no tub) is large enough all around so that you don't hit the wall or doors with your elbows. The breakfast is also good. No made to order options, but the oatmeal is fantastic and there are other hot options buffet style. The dining room is huge and beautiful, with large windows. The staff here are extremely friendly! The person at checkin was very friendly, accommodating, and apologetic about the microwave incident. read more

I have stayed in many Hampton Inn and Suites and they are all rather comparable, especially when they are on the newer side. This one is of no exception. The front desk girl was kind to us however, I did not appreciate the faces she was making at the person on the phone. It was just rude. The best part of this hotel was the sign in the elevator that said "Sleep Naked!" and eluded to the fact of how clean the beds are. Again, I have stayed in many Hampton's but never seen this one. I am not sure how old the hotel is but let me tell you, my room still smelled new. I seem to get handicap accessible rooms a lot which always seems strange to me but then again, the bathrooms are really spacious this way. The only complaint I have room wise is that the towel bar/rack was right near the toilet. So much so that when I stood up, I hit my head on it, twice! Not a smart placement. The beds were nice, the room was clean and they had flat screen TVs. I could hear a nearby train but it really did not bother me. I could tell this was a popular place as when I went down for breakfast, there were no tables left. It was rather awkward balancing my plate of food on my lap with my drink on the floor and luggage next to me. I really wish they had more seating there. The Hampton Inn & Suites in Richmond, Indiana is a nice place to stay if you're in town for work or vacation. They provide nice rooms, a workout center, public computers/work space, free hot breakfast, coffee/tea, and daily newspaper. A clean, warm bed, hot shower, and safe hotel are really all it takes to make me happy (#easytoplease). However, I got a king size bed, in a room with a whirlpool- yes please! I was more than happy with my room. The staff is friendly, considerate, and they work well under pressure. While in town for work, I watched several Hampton Inn staff members work magic to keep my team calm, organized and find us rooms- even though some reservations had been misplaced. Our group was there for an extended period of time, and the staff continuously did their best each day. If you're staying overnight, get a good room. (Richmond is the kind of town you'll want to find a nice hotel, as opposed to an Air B&B for example). The Hampton Inn is a great choice. read more

We stayed at this hotel while on a road trip. The booking process was very easy (we have a Hilton honors number). Overall our stay was good. They clean the room and place a sticker on the door to show no one has gone in and the hotel looked and felt very clean. The only negatives were that the rug felt sticky when walking on it and the breakfast process with the bags was a bit weird. It was 4 of us, some of the bags were incomplete and we had to go back and forth with the reception lady to get the coffee and bags figured out. Other than this the hotel was great; the little omelets they gave us tasted good. read more

We used this hotel for out-of-town wedding guests and the bridal party. Very positive experience. As the bride, I'm definitely not a bridezilla but had some requests concerning check-in times to work around the ceremony. Staff was extremely accomodating. We arranged welcome bags for the rooms and for the most part it worked out - a few minor snags (make sure you don't get a brand new employee for the task). Free breakfast was delicious and had great healthy options, and the hot coffee/tea all day was a perk. I didn't try the pool but others did and liked it. Also, right across the parking lot is Wings To Go. Not the fanciest place, but it was really great to have a walkable option for folks to party at into the evening if they wanted to - no worries about drunk driving. read more

I have to say, this is probably the nicest hotel in Richmond imo. It's also cool to be able to see the skating rink I went to as a pre-teen in the summers when visiting my family. I've stayed here 3 times and each time I had a perfectly pleasant experience. The staff is extremely friendly, and the maid service is excellent. They have no problems handing out extra towels, as I'm a messy shower-er. The beds/bedding are super luxurious and way comfortable. I always sleep like a baby when I stay here. Laundry facilities are well kept, pool is nice and complimentary breakfast in the morning is dope. I also appreciate that they accommodate special/odd requests. My parents recently moved back to Indiana and built a house from the ground up. They drove back to IN from CA in an RV, which they lived in for about the first year of building. For their anniversary, I booked them a room for the weekend, so they could enjoy regular amenities, such as a long relaxing bath. I had fresh flowers delivered and a box of goodies for my parents and the hotel staff set them up in their room so they would be seen upon their arrival :) Awesomeness! read more

By far the best hotel in Richmond hands down. Prior to moving here, stayed several times while we were job-hunting and house-hunting. Not sure when this was built, but this has a "brand new" quality about it. It was impeccably clean from the very start, from the lobby to the room itself. It even had that "clean" smell in the hallways! Great hot breakfast option, friendly staff that always greet upon entry, truly an excellent experience. I have stayed at Hampton Inns in different states and I can honestly say this is the best one. I have also had the misfortune of staying at the Richmond Holiday Inn which is less than a mile from this Hampton Inn. That Holiday Inn was straight-up nasty! I also hear that the Comfort Inn near Reid Hospital ain't exactly grand, either. If you're planning on visiting the Richmond area, Hampton is your best bet! read more

This place has all the amenities you expect from a Hampton Inn - breakfast, free internet, cookies at reception. The breakfast area is very spacious with lots of newspapers and magazines. I was pleased to find the latest editions of Newsweek, the Economist, and the Wall Street Journal. The check in staff was very efficient and informative. The room was comfortable and clean. As a Gold VIP member there were a couple bottles of water and some Chex Mix waiting for me. Anything I needed could be purchased from the "shop" in the lobby (with the exception of alcohol). The fitness center was clean and updated with a TV. The pool was "heated," but not really. If it was heated, then just barely. The chlorine seemed pretty strong, but I think that's pretty typical of pools. There was plenty of lighted parking and the hotel is right off the highway. Five minutes down the road is a Starbucks, Chipotle, and a very depressing Wal-Mart - everything you need on a business trip. read more

I made a reservation at this hotel (using the Hilton online service) and when I arrived in Richmond, it was the middle of the night. I somehow managed to miss the turn for the hotel and called them for directions because my GPS was trying to send me to a place 506 miles away! Dylan gave me directions and determined that my reservation was for the following day (my fault). When I arrived at the hotel, he was waiting for me at the door and had made a reservation for me nearby at the same price. Not only that, he sent me away with a little care package of water, soda and some snacks. we had an unfortunate last-minute trip to richmond for a funeral. we were able to book a room online at a very reasonable price. the check-in process was very quick upon arrival. the overall hotel is very clean and neat. the room was very clean (and comfortable!) the free breakfast was great. so many different options! the location is perfect for all needs. it is close to the interstate and close to many restaurants and shopping areas. their pool was closed (not that we would have used it) but local hotels were offering theirs for hampton inn & suites guests, which was a nice gesture in my opinion! the walls are kind of thin, so one morning we heard the radio in the next room blasting while it was being cleaned, but didn`t bother us too much as we enjoyed the music that was playing! we will for sure be stopping by here again the next time we are in town (hopefully on a positive note next time!) PS: if you`re a cellphone alarm person.. make sure that you check the alarm clock in the room. we were trolled and got a rude and scarey awakening at about 4am! :P read more

This hotel sets a high standard that all Hampton inns should strive towards, the rooms are clean, nice size, as advertised, staff courteous, helpful,and well spoken. I stayed here twice once in August and again in Sept 2013, and would quickly do so again. Breakfast was better than other hamptons in the Cincinnati area as well. read more
