Very clean and the housekeeping staff is great. They freshen the room well. Some places don't everyday, but so far they come clean everyday. I like the inline check in and key, so I haven't had a lot of front desk interaction. The. Breakfast isn't super fancy but par for normal Hamptons. I was there during a snow storm and I was worried about getting out bc it's up on a hill and had a steep drive way, but it was very taken care of when I went to leave at 8 am. I stay here for work and I think it's the best place I e stayed in Athens. Parking isn't abundant so when I get off work at 9pm I usually ah e to park a ways in the back lot, but it's not a terrible walk in. I haven't friend the other amenities, but when I get to I'll report back. read more

I needed a break from the hotel where I usually stay when visiting Athens. The Hampton Inn had government-rate rooms available and included breakfast. Though a little farther from campus, it was worth it for an updated hotel and to save a few bucks on food in the morning. Our room was spacious and clean. Everything was comfortable, and there was plenty of space to sprawl out. My husband worked from the room for three days, and while I was worried he would be stir crazy, he said it was nice to work at the desk, take breaks on the couch, and go downstairs for coffee between meetings. My one complaint about the room is that our toilet ran constantly. My husband fixed it several times and, admittedly, we never called the desk about it. It was an annoyance but not a major inconvenience. Breakfast was fine - normal hotel breakfast fare. I mostly stuck to fresh fruit, yogurt, and cereal. We asked for a late checkout and were offered noon. We were confused because the signage in rooms says checkout is at noon; the staff said the signage was wrong and checkout is actually 11. They should really update their signs -- there wasn't a chance we were going to be out by 11 having only seen documentation about noon. I'll probably stay here again. The pros outweighed the cons, and I liked being close to more coffee/dining options. read more

The Hampton Inn is a convenient place to stay in Athens. The hotel is located on the East side of town, off US 50 and 33. The Shade on State and Texas Roadhouse restaurants are within walking distance as is Taco Bell. We had a one king room. It was very spacious indeed, with flat screen TV, microwave, refrigerator and safe. As Hilton Honors members, we each received a complimentary bottle of water at check-in. Breakfast is included, with a selection of scrambled eggs, meats and waffles. One morning featured hash, a potato and steak scramble. Downtown Athens and Ohio University are a short distance down State Street. read more

2/2023   We stayed here during Sibs Weekend 2023.  The hotel was sold out. This is your typical Hampton Inn experience. This hotel follows the Hampton Inn playbook. The workers are good & well trained. The hotel is clean (rooms, breakfast area, public space, parking lot). No loitering. The breakfast area is good.  WiFi was good. They have a shuttle bus from the hotel to uptown.  They do not provide a TV Channel guide in the room & the TV remote control in the room is weird. They have a QR code in the room for the guide; but the weblink is broken. My suggestion to the management is why not have a 1-minute YouTube video on how to use the weird TV remote control linked to the QR code and provide a channel guide too?  If the manager cannot figure this out, I'm sure a HS/college kid can do this for you.    I'll stay here again. read more

Your regular Hampton. You've been to one you've been to them all, pretty much. Consistency in everything from the towels to the breakfast foods. To get into this location you have to cross a road at a pretty sharp angle into a blink-and-you'll-miss-it drive if you're coming in from the left, so watch out. The driveway up is pretty steep and very difficult to see around the curve, so drive safely and hope everyone else does, too. The employees are nice and the breakfast is always simple and good with a nice variety of basic options. read more

DIGITAL key and contactless check-in! I used the HH app for the Athens Hampton and it was SEAMLESS! I bypassed a line of waiting guests at the desk and went directly to my room. You get access to side doors, fitness room, etc. the app scans the area for the lock and you are IN. Wish every hotel could use this system. Clean, state of the art hotel experience. read more

Beware!! I booked in advance via Priceline 2 weeks ago. My bank account was charged and debited. I stayed last night and they billed my card on file with my Hilton Honors account. The hotel emailed me a receipt or I would have never known. I had the receipt from last night, Priceline receipt and my bank account receipt for the drafted amount from 2 weeks ago. The manager was snotty and said they'll call me and refund me when they get paid by Priceline. I had my documentation including the banking information naming the Hampton Inn as the recipient of the payment. She wouldn't even look at my documentation. Terrible, terrible, terrible. And rudeness when someone is upset does nothing to help. The "manager" needs to learn some skills. Absolutely inexcusable. Never again. Ever. E-V-E-R!!! read more

It makes sense to be a Hilton Honors member as you get and earn the same consistent outstanding service at hopefully all of their properties. The Hampton Inn in Athens is no different. The staff is great. The beds rock. The cost is reasonable. It's nestled by several restaurants (chain) though I would advise going to Zoe's in town. Their hot tub is awesome. Pool rocks for being indoors. Love the Hilton Properties. read more

As a grad student at Ohio University, I stayed here multiple times during my 3 year program. Now that I am finally done and graduated (yay!) I can say I enjoyed each of my stays here. They really did a nice job updating their rooms recently. Very comfortable rooms, friendly service, and their breakfast selection is fair for the price. It's a Hampton inn so it's not a 5 star hotel, but it's a very comfortable and very nice place to rest in Athens. I recommend, plus I never paid more than like $90 for a room with all the perks! Cleanest Hampton Inn ever! I travel frequently and favor the Hampton Inn brand from the Hilton portfolio. This one didn't have all the accumulated dirt and hair on the bed skirt that is usually found between the mattress and the box spring. They had Lysol wipes available by the elevator. I took some back to my room for the doorknobs, light switches, and nightstand. Adam was an absolute gem. Effortless check in at 1am. Such a polite and friendly reception after driving 13 hours. Everyone was wearing their masks correctly, even at 1am. A+++ read more

They were happy to accommodate us after the Days Inn was revolting. Our room was pretty nice. The bed was ultra comfortable, it was very spacious, and we had absolutely fantastic sex in that bed. The room had two issues, though: 1) the pillows were too soft for us (all four pillows provided were the same) and 2) The bathtub was squeaky when walking around. Breakfast was okay. The oatmeal was good, but we hate biscuits and gravy, and the only eggs were hard-boiled, and there was only one type of bagel--plain. So, there was not much for us to eat. Four stars for a better breakfast and pillows. Overall, $122 after taxes for a king sized bed. read more

Besides the usual excellent service and accommodations, the staff at this Hampton Inn were incredibly accommodating when my son came down with a stomach bug. I asked for a late checkout because he was still sleeping. At the time, I wasn't sure if I could continue my cross country drive with him. We might have needed to extend our stay. The staff was as helpful as I could imagine. They granted the extension and then some. As we left, the manager and clerk both wished us fair travels and joined us in relief that our trip could continue. To elaborate a little, their breakfast is delicious (not 'the usual' continental breakfast). They had a few real gems that made it excellent. There was greek yogurt and 'regular' yogurt. They had american fries and 'bagel toppers' which were half bagels with cheese and eggs on top (apparently freshly cooked too!) There was fresh fruit in addition to all the usuals-- waffles, cereal, oatmeal and juice. The room was very clean an comfortable. There is a pool (apparently very nice though I didn't use it) and an exercise room. All around a surprisingly good experience despite the bad circumstances. It was pretty dirty and in need of some maintenance up-keeping like new paint, repairs, and lighting in the room. There were hair shavings on the counter in the bathroom, the bathroom floor was sticky, and the toilet was clogged upon our arrival. The bed was decently comfortable - the best part was the fluffy pillows - but the sheets were tinged yellow and had some gross stains. AC worked well. read more

Lots of pluses, not many minuses here. It's near shopping and chain restaurants, if you're into that sort of thing. The world-famous Athens farmers market is right next door on Saturdays for a good deal of the year, so bring a cooler (and the rooms have mini-fridges). It's a few miles from campus, so it's either a long walk or bike ride, or a short car or taxi ride if that's your destination. Accommodations are standard Hampton: same clean, comfy beds, same breakfast buffet, same nice people. Let's face it: no one stays at a Hampton because it's exciting. read more

Rooms are well acquainted, beds are comfortable. The complimentary breakfast could be better quality. There are at least three other hotels similarly priced in the area that do a better job than Hampton. I suggest having the GM take a tour of the market place and draw his/ her own conclusions. read more

The individual at the front desk had taken my call from from the road and gave me all the details about the hotel and pricing and even accepted a AAA discount. Nice clean property in a quiet area of Athens. Somewhat hard to find but the GPS had no problem. Breakfast has good. More choices than some of their competition. The staff as friendly and competent. Had an in room safe but was not charged extra for the safe like I have seen other places. Why not 5 stars? The internet was extremely slow. My speed test showed: Oct 9 17:15. Download 0.95 Mbps Upload 0.43 Mbps Oct 10 6:47. Download 0.43. Upload 0.40 They advertise complimentary High speed internet access. I think they want you to buy an upgrade. The extremely poor national reservation system at 855-271-3622. They quoted a room rate higher than the price quoted on the internet. They finally matched the internet rate. Would not take my AARP card. Would not give me a confirmation number until I gave them my snail mail address. Promised an email confirmation, it never arrived. Finally I had to call the Athens property and spoke to the desk clerk. The reservation had arrived. On check in they did take my AARP card. On receiving my final bill in the morning, I see the national reservation system has my home address wrong. I have to assume they also got my email address wrong. The up side is that I should not get advertising mail. read more

This Hampton is easy to find and is near many restaurants and stores. It's not too far from Ohio University. The front desk staff is nice and will go above and beyond. Pool and hot tub are also nice. Room was clean and I was impressed with the size of the bathroom. I'd stay here again. The only downfall is there is no restaurant to provide room service. read more

Hotel was comfortable and staff were very pleasant. There were just a few things that seemed a bit sub-par for a Hampton. The breakfast seemed to be lacking all 3 days of our stay. Only one morning was there a breakfast meat, turkey sausage. Also food was not kept hot, more like Luke warm. By the last day I was ready to go for the pastey oatmeal. Room was ok. There were a few spots on the couch that should have been cleaned. The bathroom was nice looking, but there was no water pressure! I am pretty easy to please in that department as I live in a 100 year old house with low water pressure. But our shower had even less pressure than my old house!! Also shower head was one of those ancient plastic Shower Massage things. Have not seen one of those in years. read more

The front desk staff and cleaning staff are fantastic and offered excellent customer service - so did the maintenance man. My only issue with them is they don't seem to talk to each other? We had an issue Saturday night when the shower started shooting water into the bathroom instead of in the shower! Cracked gasket where it connects to the pipe. We took it to front desk explaining that water went all over bathroom etc. no offer to help clean up, or change rooms told us the maintenance man would be by sometime in the morning? Uh OK... Guess ill just wait to take a shower. He dropped by our room about 9am - he'd heard we had a leak? No one gave him the broken part we'd dropped at desk so he had to go back to maintenance and look for part, brought back two already opened repair kits which didn't have what ha needed then he said he had to run to Lowes (5min away) for part! So around 11am he shows up again with the replacement part - the cheapest kit I think Lowes sells - yea, this will last a long time. Housekeeping brought us towels, maintenance brought Towels and front desk gave us some - very apparent they don't talk to each other or coordinate. Room was clean and spacious. We had the handicapped accessible tub - don't bother as the shower is not long enough or positioned correctly. Lots of grab bars. Coffee is great in am from coffee station. Didn't try breakfast as spent morning waiting on maintenance to fix shower. Beds and pillows are soft & mushy - not our preference. Tempurpedic is our preference. read more

Fellow Motorcyclists, find A different hotel. Parking lot is on a grade. We returned to the hotel after a local show about midnight and opted to leave the bikes (2 of them) off to the side under the entrance canopy because it was the best available flat spot and 99.9% of the time it isn't an issue. Apparently, here it is. Katie the night clerk woke us at 1am to tell us we had to move the bikes as we were blocking the fire lane. It is not a fire lane. It is not marked as a fire lane. She also told us there was a law against us parking there. After a thorough review of Athens Codified Ordinances AND a call to the Fire Chief, I have confirmed that is not the case. There was still room to get 2 cars through side by side, It is a rather large entrance. There is also an adjacent access lane for large trucks I could have driven a semi through with hula dancers on either side. So my fellow HOG and BMWMOA friends, I highly recommend any hotel in Athens except this one. Cheers. read more

While this hotel was nice & clean, I will say the customer service is disappointing. I booked a room in a room block for 2 nights & was quoted 1 rate. Upon check in, I found out the second night was $90 more! I was not informed this at time of booking. Spoke with desk clerk, sales manager, & GM and each claimed there was nothing they could do and that the block was for the 1st night only. Doesn't make sense at all. Blocks usually cover the duration of the event one is attending. I find it very hard to believe the GM can't adjust the rate to what I was quoted. I will never be staying in this hotel again whenever I visit Athens. The Holiday Inn Express is just as nice with a slightly lesser cost & better customer service....plus it's a bit closer to campus. read more
