The room was clean. The chair for the dest was worn to the point it had a hole in the side of it. The beds were way too hard. Limited tv channels. The wallpaper in the hallway was rippled. Part of the ceiling of the canopy you drive up under was missing. The pool was nice. Free breakfast was ok. I really hated having to pay to park. Its ridiculous to pay for a room, only to find out you have to pay $10 a night just to park in their parking lot. Overall a pretty disappointing stay. Probably will look elsewhere for our next stay in Charleston. read more

When we arrived, we saw multiple large boxes on wooden pallets lining in the lobby and breakfast dining area. I've been to Hiltons that were renovating before, but usually there's some kind of warning or notice when I make the reservation. At first I thought maybe they just got things in. Now I'm thinking they are trying to fix the broken state of this hotel. The woman at the front desk greeted us with a terse "Name? Have you ever stayed at this hotel before?" Nola gave me my room cards with a terse "WiFi code is Name and room number." After seeing the damage in the hallway and the fixture issues in the room, we ate our dinner downstairs. The lights in most of the lounge area were off. When I asked if the lights could be turned on, I was told "the lights don't work". We sat at the bench by the front window where the lights were working, and most of the tables had napkins folded under a foot to keep them stable. Staff made excuses and then blew us off. I chose this location due to its proximity to CAMC. From the minute I walked through the door (a Saturday night) I was impressed by the staff. On Sunday, I needed to do laundry, but when I went to do the second load, the coin slot didn't "pop" back so I could do another load. I had already put the laundry in and covered it with liquid detergent. They were unsuccessful in fixing it, but instead of leaving me with laundry covered it detergent, they took it to the hotel laundry and gave it back to me cleaned, dried and folded. The entire team, Rebecca, Tara, Beverly, Ira, Fox, Tim, Tay, and Helena. (I may have missed someone) took great care of me. However, my room definitely needed improvement. It was clean, but there were patches on the walls and ceilings that should have been taken care of before the room was available to rent. I will definitely return to this location. read more

This place is in desperate need of a remodel I think. The room smelled and looked clean, but there was a weird puddle on the floor under the carpet that never went away. One of the lights had a dead bulb, the AC couldn't cool the room more than 10 degrees from the outside temperature and both the water pressure and temperature control were a joke in the shower. I could not get it to be anything other than steaming, burning hot, or room temperature. I always prefer hiltons and this had the right bed and the room was clean and the staff was friendly (the big things that make me lean Hilton), but the stuff listed above is just kind of weird for a Hilton property. I've never before stayed in a Hampton Inn that threatened both my safety and my health. Here are some highlights from when I stayed in this one (6/14/25). Pictures are included: 1. Do you like having a door to your room that closes? The door to my room was misaligned and couldn't close on its own without great force (!!). Multiple times our door was open to the public because members of my family (my children) weren't consciously careful to ensure the door was forced close every time. 2. The bath and shower fixtures weren't attached to the wall. They wobbled with any touch. I couldn't let my young son use the shower as I was concerned he might dislodge them further. 3. The top blanket on our bed was visibly stained, and the furniture in our room was visibly faded and worn from use (not just "outdated", but so worn it permanently looks dirty) 4. The hallways were swelteringly hot and humid. Bubbling wallpaper and black buildup on vents had me concerned about the presence of mold in the environment. 5. The mini fridge in our room couldn't get cold enough to refrigerate, and I had to throw out perishable food. 6. A ceiling tile was left uninstalled in the front entryway (which isn't an issue to me personally, but if you're willing to leave the ceiling exposed in the first room a guest walks in to entering the hotel, what does that say about how you approach everything else?) 7. Luggage carts don't actually roll into the elevator without having to lift them in. I had items falling off my cart due to the misalignment. 8. When I asked the front desk agent if they knew where I could find a restaurant that might have gluten free options, she interrupted me to say, "Honestly, honey, I have no idea." 9. A sign asking for tips (framing it as "you're not SPENDING money, you're INVESTING in good karma") was in the breakfast area. The tip request I don't mind, but the wording on the sign is manipulative: aren't tips supposed to be in exchange for service (not "karma"?) The one time I needed breakfast staff to help, she was in the back on her cellphone. I always give benefit of the doubt, as sometimes things happen. But the issues here were so overwhelming, I wonder what else is going on underneath the surface at this location. I felt taken advantage of that this hotel advertises itself as a Hampton Inn. I've stayed in budget motels that didn't have these kinds of problems. It was truly a fully disappointing experience. read more

I would not stay at this hotel!! We arrived at 4:30 after being on the road all day and told our room was not yet ready. I asked how long before it would be ready and they would not give me an answer. They were very short and told us they had a full house and only had 3 cleaning staff. We had an event to get to at 7pm and our room wasn't ready until 6:30 so we were not able to go change before. We finally get there at 10:30 and get the keys to our room and get in our room and it was obvious it had not been cleaned. There was hair which looked to be dog hair all over the sheets on both beds and in the tub. I called down to tell them they put them on hold then rudely told me to come get the keys to another room. They gave me the keys by just sliding them over the counter. There was never an apology or anything for our inconvenience. I've since contacted Hilton corporate and they were great and gave me some refund towards our stay read more

We arrived weary and glad to be done with our long drive for the night. Rebecca made the check in process easy and smooth. There is hot water and tea you can make and take up to your room. They even had the honey packets for tea which was a value added for me ;). The room was very clean and even though there are four of us it doesn't feel cramped. Had a little trouble finding this place so beware the entrance is a little tricky trying to get in. The lady at the front desk was polite and to my room I went. I almost had two accidents driving up from NC so I just crawled into bed and never left the room. The room was okay but I could see from the sun shining in the window the dust on the shelf and mirror. Staff needs to do a better job of cleaning. The bed was comfortable but the Hilton pillows are terrible and is all pillows in all Hiltons. It's my biggest complaint. The parking lot was full so another reason I did not go out because I was afraid I would not be able to find another. I do like that you have to use a key to get in from the back parking lot. Safety is a must. In the morning I went down to get breakfast. I tried the sausage and biscuit but took one bite and in the trash it went. There was also no orange juice so I grabbed a muffin. Keep driving! I stay at Hampton Inns across the country while driving. After spending one night here I am questioning that choice. This hotel was so dirty and mismanaged that I am calling Hilton customer service asking them to intervene. It started with the filthy hallway carpets; to having no hand soap in the bathroom; to a dirty bathroom floor; to having to wipe someone's elses long hair off the walls of the shower. As a final exclamation point the lobby bathroom had no working lights and the front sliding doors were malfunctioning acting like scissors as they smashed into guests. This place is hot garbage. elevators were not working. The lobby was filthy. All of that I could deal with, but what I could not deal with was my room smelling like 10 guys had been smoking cigars all night in it. Went down to change rooms, front desk said they were sold out, I asked if everyone had already checked in and was told "no, but we can't change rooms in the system" (which is a lie). This is a great spot... convenient location, good prices, clean and well maintained, friendly staff. They have keyless envy and app checkin, which is handy for late night arrivals. This has been a local go to hotel for my family for a long time. The indoor pool area is very large and nice for my kids to have fun. They used to have a kids buffet at night with unlimited soda pop and peanut butter sandwiches and pizza, which the kids love!!! The rooms were always large and comfortable and the beds comfortable. I had a family reunion here once and also held a couple slumber parties here for my daughter and her friends. I also stayed here a lot when the weather was too bad to drive home from work. It didn't look promising when the wife and I pulled into the parking lot. Cars and trucks filled the spaces and there was a line of cars outside the front entrance. "This doesn't look good. Perhaps they have a manger," I said. "Well, go check for a room anyway," she says. "Yes dear." I stroll into the lobby and make my way to the front desk and in front of me is another customer. An older gentleman. He had a very familiar look. Red Shirt. Red shorts (it was spring). White hair, well-kept semi-long beard, and a belly full of jelly. It's Santa!!! The only thing missing was a group of children. As Santa waits get his room, I notice more people entering the lobby. It's not looking good. I wanted to whisper in Santa's ear that I have a Christmas wish of getting a room. However before I can say anything, Santa gets a key to room 212. He leaves and I swear I heard him exclaim as he walked out of sight, "Thanks for the room and to all a good night!" I go to the front desk. "Hi The name is Robinson and I wish I had a reservation." Rebecca, the wonderful lady behind the desk, gives a laugh that fills the void of lobby silence. "Let's see what we have. We are extremely booked." After 3 minutes, her frustration is apparent. "Nothing seems to be working. Jesus take the wheel." She says. At this point, I don't care if it's the Flying Spaghetti Monster taking the wheel. Work the miracle. Work my wish. I'll eat more pasta and praise your name. By now the lobby is crowded with at least 10 people. All unamused. I try to break up the vibe. "I think you're doing a wonderful job, Rebecca. Let's all give it up for Rebecca." I start clapping to get the lobby patrons to applaud the hard work she's exerting or will exert for all of us. Nothing. Zero. Indifference. Sad. Depressing. "Well I appreciate you." I say loudly. After a few minutes, my positive vibe and wish pays off and I get a room in the Inn. She hands me my room keys along with a warm smile and whispers. "Thank you for your patience and your support. I needed that." "Thank you Rebecca. You're an angel." I leave to go get my luggage and wife. As I leave, I look at the faces of people waiting in the lobby. Stone-faced. Stoic. Dead inside. I soon find out why. The reason the Inn is full is there's a dance competition this weekend and the place is full of children. The parents here have traveled a long distance for their kids and deep down probably don't want to be here. The look on the faces says they rather be anywhere else and especially not around hundreds of children. I feel for them. Parenting the toughest job there is. I hope, at some point this weekend, these parents get some peace and quiet even for just 5 minutes. It's a simple Christmas wish in April. Maybe they should go ask Santa. He's in 212. read more

This hotel is only about a mile off the highway, so it's easy to find. That being said, you could easily hear the highway traffic from our room all night long. On the bright side, I could keep an eye on my car. Check in was easy and the staff was super friendly. Unfortunately they are under renovation so it's a mess everywhere. The good news is that we got a room that had been renovated so it was nice. The bed was comfortable, there was a nice desk to work and 2 chairs for sitting. The bathroom was a bit small, but clean. The staff recommended a restaurant and they have a shuttle that takes you and picks you up from anywhere you choose. What a great perk! My husband and I were passing through Charleston and decided to stay at this Hampton Inn to cut our drive in half to our destination. We arrived around 5:30pm and were checked into room 112 on the first floor. We were settling in, when we found diarrhea all over the toilet. We asked for another room and were moved to 506. This room seemed better, the toilet seat was up and the shampoo bottle was clearly from another guest as it was open and had "goo" on the outside. We came back in the evening and I went to take a shower. The shower never got warm. I waited for a while and just took a shower in the freezing water. The next morning we both went to take showers. My shower was bearable, but at no point got warm. My husband went to take a shower and it was cold, but the water seemed to shut off to a mere trickle. Upon checkout, we let the front desk person know of the shower issues and toilet with the poop, at first he didn't seem to be bothered by this, my husband asked "what is the 100% satisfaction guaranteed advertised here on the front desk"? He then responded with "I don't know, you're a diamond, do you know what it means?" My husband responded with "I'm not sure as the 100's of Hilton's I have stayed at, I've never had to question the guarantee". The front desk person proceeded to take $30 off the rate. He advised they knew of the shower/plumbing issue per other complaints this morning. Overall the experience was below regular Hilton standards and unlike what we have experienced before. Curious what the 100% satisfaction policy entails? I guess that means $30 off. I wrote the general manager but there was never a response. read more

We stayed at this location Christmas night. We were welcomed by the nicest staff we have ever experienced. The ladies were friendly, courteous, and very helpful. Everything was very clean and acceptable. It is an older hotel, but it is nice. We had plenty of hot water and the room hvac worked as expected. There were no odors of mildew and we saw no mold or dust in our room. The carpet was clean. We had a good nights sleep in a clean and comfortable bed. The next morning, we met even more wonderful staff. The room cleaners greeted us with a cheerful good morning and wished us safe travels as we departed. The ladies at the front desk did the same. We joked that we had slept in and missed breakfast by an hour. They insisted that we sit down and enjoy a breakfast because there was plenty left, which we did. We stayed at this location because the info said easy access to I64/77. You actually drive down the exit ramp, through one light and turn right into the parking lot coming from the east. Getting back on is also a breeze. With that said, yes you can hear highway traffic inside the hotel. It didn't bother us and we didn't dwell on it. We are sound sleepers so it was not an issue. We did see one man who looked to be homeless. But, unfortunately, in any urban area, this is the norm. The parking lot is well lit. It isn't The Ritz but it is nice enough at affordable price. Over the years I have generally found Hampton Inns to be a reliably good place to stay. They tend to be clean, comfortable and well managed hotels. Especially for what I consider to be a reasonable price. This hotel exceeded my expectations. Located within the city limits not far from the highways, the surrounding area is commercial properties. We were greeted warmly at the front desk and checked in promptly. We were provided a list of area restaurants with helpful input regarding the options. The hotel offers a free shuttle to the restaurants and the driver (Kelly) was extremely nice. Our room was clean and comfortable. There is some highway noise in the evening, but not so much that it creates difficulty sleeping. There complimentary breakfast is standard for the chain. The person responsible for maintaining the breakfast area was excellent. read more

First let me say, the staff was wonderful. They were so helpful and can't say enough good things about them. The issue I had was my room. The lighting was dismal and with every light on, it was dark. They gave me a handicap room which was no big deal but it was filthy.The shower floor was slimy. I went to find a plug behind the dresser, and it was caked with layers of dust. Mid point on a drive and this was a great stop. Reasonably priced and right off the interstate. Being after 1am when we checked it, being so close was excellent. The lobby is friendly and open. We were welcomed right away by a very pleasant lady who quickly checked us in. As Hilton members, we were not only offered the traditional water bottles, but also a variety of snacks. Very appreciated after a long drive. Our room was very clean and nicely laid out. Very near the elevators and ice machine, but never heard anything. The beds were sooooo comfortable. Plenty of pillows on both beds making a very restful sleep. There is noise from the interstate. If you are a light sleeper I could see this being a concern. I found the noise almost melodic as it is just a light rumbling that is repetitive. The bathroom was clean and had plenty of towels and toiletries. Breakfast, as always, is a nice benefit of staying at a Hampton Inn. Fueled for the road. read more

Eh. There's a lot of competition in the hotel business, and you have better options in Charleston. This place is in a good location, but otherwise it's not got much to offer. The staff are abrupt to the point of rudeness, and are not helpful, even with standard requests like early check-in when they are really, really obviously not busy. The rooms are on and off whether they'll be clean. The overall impression you get is that they're not working very hard at all to make sure you have a good stay. Updated note: I am still in the room and housekeeping just barged in on me. It's a full hour and a half before checkout time. So, just know that, if you are not in the room and it's your check out day, housekeeping will go in to your room without your permission. read more

I've stayed here a few times previously with no problems. However, my last visit was different. At check in, front desk staff was nice, although the "honey" and "sugar" instead of ma'am or miss was a little off-putting, but she was friendly. When handing me my keycard, she announced my room number. I didn't say anything and went on to my room. My first room smelled really musty, and the front desk was extremely apologetic and changed me to another room. However, she still announced my room number. My second room had a strong smoke odor. Again, front desk was very nice and apologetic, and asked another employee to visit my third room to make sure it was ok before I went up. Again, front desk announced my room number and I went up to my room to meet the staff member there. He said he can get me some air freshener to help with the smoke odor. I declined and went back downstairs and asked for my reservation to be canceled and I would rebook at the Southridge location. All three rooms smelled. Before leaving, I politely asked the front desk to never say someone's room number aloud, especially women who are traveling alone (such as myself). She began arguing with me telling me all hotels do this, I just looked at her and said it's a safety issue, shook my head and left. Up until that point, she had been friendly and patient, but instead of apologizing or even simply saying "ok", she chose to argue with me. My credit card was infact billed and now I have spent over an hour on the phone to get the charge reversed, to no avail. This Hampton is older and needs revamping. The employees also need some polishing. The Hampton Inn at Southridge, however, was clean and the front desk staff was professional. I travel a good amount for business, but I will not be staying at the downtown Hampton location again. read more

The front desk staff at this Hampton Inn are incredible, and they truly made our stay a 3 star experience. Without them, the rating would have been lower. First off, this hotel is super difficult to access. It is located in a strange location, and it is tricky to get in and out of the parking lot. When we went inside, the gentlemen behind the desk were very welcoming and kind. We checked in with no issue, and proceeded to our room. The room was OK. Nothing special, and kind of dated. There's a lot of wood paneling. The bed was very firm. The first issue we experienced was that the bed didn't appear to be clean. There was dog hair all over the comforter, which the front desk staff kindly swapped out with a clean one. The second issue was another guest in the hotel thinking it was a great idea to make prank phone calls. At around 11:00 PM, our room phone started ringing. When we answered, there wasn't anyone on the other end. My husband and I had driven 10 hours that day and had just fallen asleep. Needless to say, we were livid. I called the front desk (again, they were rockstars), and explained to them the situation. I made sure that they weren't the ones who had called, and the gentleman I spoke with was genuinely upset that someone in their hotel would do this. He apologized over and over again, which was very kind of him. Finally, breakfast was a little disappointing. We went to the lobby around 8:30 AM to check out the spread, and when we got there, most of the food had been consumed by other guests. All I wanted was a bagel or some cereal, but both options were completely picked over. We ended up going to Panera. read more

After driving 9 hours from New Jersey, I arrived to find that Egencia had not reserved the room, despite receiving a confirmation number.......OK; not the hotel's fault, but the way they handled it was. The girl at the desk had a piss-poor attitude about it when she couldn't find my reservation in the system. When I told her it was through Egencia, she says, very passive aggressively "Well, I don't know what that is and we're all booked up anyway," and then proceeds to tell me how I need to call this number and that number......no; I need to be given the room I booked and confirmed. She proceeded to run her mouth some more and I just tuned her out and walked away in the interest of not losing my temper. They need to work on their front desk employees' soft skills. read more

We stopped in here due to the shoneys restaurant up the street. The lady that checked me in was clean and professional looking so I let my guard down on this one and man did I pay for it... $198! I arrived after a long day on the road with my family and k9 in tow. I approached the desk and requested a special rate with identification and a pet friendly accommodation. I was informed of the non-refundable $75 fee. I was okay with that if we could just get in the room and get some food asap. When I opened the door omg the smell! Smoke to high heaven. This room was a smoking room and reeked of many odors. The carpets were stained with pet friendliness. I could not Stomach walking around the room without socks and slippers. My black cotton socks got nasty. Funk from the carpet stuck in them. The shower would not drain. The sink would fill up as well. I felt much cleaner not bathing than risking the accommodations Offerings. We will never stay at this Hampton inn again and should have left this one instead of sucking it up. The smell of the room sunk into our dogs nylon crate so bad we smelled it In the car and our destination could smell it in their house. I have stayed all the place and this one is the worst I've ever encountered. I now question the Hilton brand after this encounter. read more

Arrived later in the evening; the smell of popcorn was the first thing that hit me as I walked thru the door. That was nice; they had a carni/movie theater type machine freshly popping away. The staff is friendly; everyone says "hello." The room is nice and the king size bed is comfy. My only ding on the room is the bathtub; it wasn't updated and the shower heads are the old style type that you can rotate for different settings. After so many uses they don't perform well; they should update those. Location, like others have mentioned...it is close to the highway. I have a view of it from my room but it makes getting in and out of the city easy enough. The breakfast was better than most hotels at this level; I think they actually had someone back there cooking the scrambled eggs. There was actually some flavor; think it was some peppers and they chopped up sausage as well. So happy they weren't serving those little "taco" style steamed omelettes that seem to be so trendy now. The neighborhood is a little sketchy after dark; they roll up the sidewalks and you're on your own. There is a mall a few blocks away. They do offer a free shuttle service which the front desk seemed to be encouraging me to take. I opted for the walk because things are close but in the dark, by yourself in a town you don't know...maybe I should have taken them up on it. Tonight I will. I did have a car pull up hootin' and hollerin' at me for no good reason; I ain't that much to look at. I didn't feel threatened at all but some may find that a little unnerving. If this property had a bar/restaurant I'd give it another star for convenience. read more
