For a Marriott property in a downtown area - this needs a major overhaul. It's very rundown and outdated. The lobby smells musty and the furniture is worn. Not a great first impression. Our room was eh. The air never worked correctly. I never got below 72 and we had it cranked as low as it would go. Woke up to a cluster of bites on the inside of my leg. Nothing is super close as far as restaurants go. There is an outback and Chile's about 1/4 mile. We walked about a mile around downtown to find somewhere to eat aside from that two places. I'd go next door to the Embassy Suites if I had to stay in this area again.

I had a great experience at this hotel. They were able to accommodate an early check in and assigned me a clean room on the 15th floor facing the Coliseum and away from the elevators. The night was quiet as can be, the bed was comfy, and it was a good value for the price. I do wish they didn't charge extra for parking as it's in a dead part of town and that seemed unnecessary. But overall I enjoyed myself and all the folks I encountered working there were pleasant as well.

Came in late but the one desk person was efficient. Didn't share things like: when / where breakfast, Marriott awards, etc. but got things done. Room was well kept, quiet for sleeping--despite the international table tennis tournament hosted in building that weekend. Not really near restaurants or activities, but all of downtown Charleston is walkable. Very sleepy place, it seems. It's a bit ludicrous that they're charging $15 for hotel parking when the lot is wide open and there's nothing going on around town.

I try to stay in Marriott's when I travel when possible so I was originally glad to have found this as we were planning a trip to the Charleston WV area. However, it was not your typical Marriott. Pros- Near interstate and the ice machine worked. Cons- Very dated interior. Beds were past the end of their normal use life. There was a big dip in the bed we were in. The wi-fi was very unstable and you had to manually connect to it each time you turned the phone or device on. There was no smart TV in the room. The walls were very thin... it was very easy to hear everything in the next room and hallway. Lastly, the AC unit was VERY loud. We did find a nice spot on the 3rd floor to sit outside for a while in the evening.

RUN DO NOT STAY HERE. Food is not good place is so dirty. There was hair in our shower but we rinsed it down and asked them to clean it. Nbd but then I kept finding stains in the carpet. The last straw was this in the blanket. I took a picture and then was sick immediately after. This is the replacement comforter. My first one had stains on it and so I asked for another one. So horrified

Filthy window makes it look foggy outside when it's actually bright and sunny.

When I called the front desk, I was told there was nobody available to re-clean the room, so they moved us to another suite. The second room had a clean toilet, but there was a paper-thin connecting door to the neighborings suite and we could hear absolutely everything the neighbors were saying. It felt like they were in the same room with us. The carpet looked like it had never been properly cleaned -- it was sticky and visibly dirty, with candy wrappers, hair, food debris, stains, and even what looked like someone's cut toenails on the floor. The doors and surfaces were sticky and oily with visible fingerprints and grime everywhere. The bathroom mirror clearly had not been cleaned either, with visible toothpaste splatter and stains from previous guests. The only thing that appeared reasonably clean was the bedding, but even the bed frame/base had multiple stains, and the chair in the room was so heavily stained it looked disgusting. To make things worse, at 5 AM the upstairs neighbor turned on their bathtub, and the plumbing noise sounded like it was happening directly inside our bedroom. Very disappointing experience, especially for an Embassy Suites.

I appreciated the 2 complimentary cocktails per guest each day. I attended a wedding so the bar was slammed but they were pumping out those drinks. The room was a little dated but it was nothing to cry about truthfully. The wedding turned out beautiful. The food wasn't very appetizing but I didn't expect much to begin with. The elevator was slow as molasses but it just became the running joke. I can't say I'll ever return, but I enjoyed my time there!

There are also gas stations, restaurants, drug stores and more less than five minutes away. The staff is always friendly, and there are nearly always snacks and extras provided- coffee, cookies, and popcorn. It's always fun to pick something up on the way in, or come down for a snack later in the day. The rooms are small and simple, with the basic necessities. They do have a mini-fridge and a microwave, so save your leftovers! The bathroom is small with a walk-in shower, but it does the job. There is a pocket door, so it doesn't lock. The sink is separate from the toilet and shower, which is a bonus when getting ready in the morning or at night. There is a fitness room and an indoor pool, as well as a business center. Breakfast is included, and includes scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, cinnamon apples, biscuits (with hot gravy to add). There is a waffle station, as well as cold items like cereal, fruit, bread, and bagels. Pretty much anything you'd expect at a hotel breakfast, with plenty of room to sit and eat. This is a great location, and we've always enjoyed this hotel. If you need a spot to stay in the area, I'd recommend it!

I was very impressed by Fayetteville, WV. I highly recommend this place. It was the perfect stay after a full day in New River Gorge National Park. It is very close to the Canyon Rim Visitor Center. I woke up early and drove along the Fayette Station Road to see the sun setting over the bridge. Then went back to Morris Harvey House for an amazing home-cooked breakfast. The breakfast was amazing. Fresh coffee and orange juice with bacon and a pistachio waffle. Yum!! I had a great experience and will definitely be returning.
