Our room had no toilet paper. And even after asking the front desk for it Saturday morning by the time we got back at 4:30pm we still had no toilet paper. Had to ask the front desk AGAIN. Pool is under maintenance, emptied of water. No warning of this. Pillows are extremely uncomfortable. The breakfast is terrible - waffle mix dispenser empty. Waited 15min and still not taken care of. No breakfast meat, just eggs. We'll be finding somewhere to eat out for breakfast tomorrow. Will never stay here again! read more

I'm a gold hilton honors member but I will keep this an unbiased review The location is right off I-89 but it's not noisy, it's actually very quiet. The hotel itself is your typical hampton inn. they offer free wifi, free hot breakfast, comfy rooms and beds, pool, fitness center, house computer for internet. The layout is a little weird because the hotel is on a hill. The front entrance is at the top of the hill and the rear parking is at the bottom of the hill so you enter on the 2nd or 3rd floor. If you're looking for food, make your way down to Church Street (GPS yourself to the Church St and Main St Intersection) in Burlington and Yelp a few places. There are PLENTY of good restaurants and bars there! If you're feeling adventurous, the Quebec border is about 30minutes north and Montreal is about 90 miles from here, that's just under a 2 hour drive. Bring your passport. Don't have your passport? It is a nice hotel . . . certainly plenty large and in a nice location just outside of the city. The staff is pleasant and the site is nice with a backdrop of the mountains. The rooms are decent . . . nothing particularly wonderful about them. And a few of them are showing their age -- such as chairs that are getting to be a bit thread bare. Note that there ARE smoking rooms in this hotel -- worth noting because I know many hotels these days are smoke free, so be sure you specifiy if you want a smoke-free room when booking. But on the bright side, this particular location is pet friendly. Also . . . note that the floors are numbered a bit odd . . . the lobby is technically the 3rd floor (at least as far as the elevators are concerned), but you and can access the parking lot from the 2nd and 3rd floors -- and possibly the 1st as well, depending on where in the parking lot you are parked -- this can get a bit confusing. read more

I have stayed here about 10 times for work travel before moving to Vermont. I think the standard rate here is $199/night. For $219/night, the room is suppose to be upgraded. I've stayed in both price ranges and it was the same room, so I am not sure what the difference is suppose to be. Some rooms have a fridge and a microwave, but don't count on it. However, when I told them that I wanted the fridge, they did get one delivered to me quickly. There is not a service elevator, so many times in the morning you can expect to wait for the slow elevator to arrive without the staff filling it up. The breakfast is included in the price and is ok. They have some hot, some cold and waffles. At night, there is a cookie reception at 8:30pm - but don't wait, because it is my experience that most times the other guests aren't trained in sharing - They start waiting around 8:15 and grab as many cookies as they can when they come out! The hotel has a moisture problem in the lower levels, but they do an ok job of dehumidifying. Pets are welcome here at no extra cost - but let them know before you show up - they only allow the pets in certain rooms. I was glad when another hotel opened close and I started staying somewhere else for less money. The best part of this hotel is the staff. They are all very well trained in customer service. Used this hotel for an overnight visit to Burlington and worked out just fine. It is a good-sized hotel with ample parking located about 15 minutes north of Burlington. The check-in process was quick and the gentleman working the front desk was quick to note that you enter the hotel lobby on the third floor (as the hotel is built into a hill). The lobby is quite large with a ton of seating, largely for the typical Hampton breakfast that's there each morning. He also mentioned that there would be some freshly backed cookies around 8:30 PM. Our room was had two queen-sized beds and there was enough room for three overnight bags. The bathroom was spacious, with a lot of counter space, albeit some of it wasn't all that deep. I didn't use the wifi, so couldn't comment on that. Beds were comfortable and slept well. The front desk recommended a cab company that they had recently started using, as we needed a lift for the evening out in Burlington. The shuttle was running, but sadly had some other commitments to the airport, otherwise we would have been able to use that. While the change in the cab structure in Burlington is not the fault of the hotel, we were sadly overcharged by the cab driver who drove for the recommended company. We used a different company for our return, and the woman working the front desk that night was extremely attentive in notating the cab company's name and our grievance about being overcharged. She definitely expressed her concern about the guests' experience with the service and didn't want it to reflect badly on the hotel. So, word to the wise, do not use Blazer Cab company if given their card. While I would prefer to stay closer to Burlington, should those options be unavailable this is a good second choice. read more

We were doing college tours in the area and we're happy to find this Hampton Inn. It was convenient to Saint Mikes, UVM and Champlain College. They offered a discount for prospective students. The staff was extremely friendly. There was a pool that our son enjoyed. Great warm cookies after 8:30! Nice breakfast with yogurts, breads, pastry, cereals, eggs, sausage and bacon, waffles, etc. I appreciated the hot beverages as it was -3. The restaurant next door was wonderful and I appreciated the very short walk. They salted the sidewalk. I have been doing non stop college tours throughout cold portions of the Northeast in remote locations. I am drawn to Hampton Inns because of the quality of the beds and the quality of the bedding. My Bf cashed in his points for a free night. We had no problem booking a room at the last minute. This was the biggest Hampton Inn I have ever saw. Everything was ok except my room was a little weird. I stayed in one of the rooms on the top floor. Due to the design of the building, the ceiling was at an angle. I whacked my head on it a couple of times. I have nothing bad to say about this place, but wouldn't stay on that upper floor again. Food was good WiFi was good Room and bed comfortable. read more

Stayed here on a recent ski trip and the accommodations were great! Friendly greeter at check in. We had a very nice room on the 5th floor, the ceilings were high and the room was very cozy. The king size bed felt bigger than our king bed at home! The blankets and pillows were nice too. They have continental breakfast in the morning until 10am which served everything from cereal, yogurt, bagels, waffles, eggs, toast, English muffins, coffee and tea! At night they have a milk and cookie bar and the cookies were the softest cookies I've ever had! Sooo yummy. Pretty good location as there's a gas station across the street and a grocery store across the street. It's a little less than an hour drive to Stowe mountain for skiing. read more

This is an excellent option for accommodations in the Burlington area. The location is very easily accessed off of I-89. There is also a CVS and a Shaw's right across the street which is very convenient if you've forgotten any little necessities. I've stayed in many Hampton Inns in various states, and I rely on knowing I'll always have a clean and comfortable room with great amenities, including a warm breakfast in the morning. This property has all of the standard items I've come to expect from Hampton Inn (and is also pet-friendly!), but what really sets this location apart is the level of customer service. I gave this property five stars because there was an issue on the last night of my stay, but the night manager Sandy, and the assistant general manager Joe went above and beyond to address it and to mitigate the impact to my experience. In this day and age, you cannot put a price tag on excellent customer service, and the team at this property delivers this in spades. I would stay at this property again. read more

The place is clean and has quintessentially NewEngland feel with those Cape Cod style dormers. That same design gives some of the rooms a cottage feel. The staff is friendly, engaging, and helpful. Stayed here for one day in the middle of June and while it was a short visit, I took advantage of everything the facility had to offer. The staff was pleasant and my suite was very nice. I utilized the pool and laundry facilities. The fitness center was nice in that it actually has free weights and a universal machine vice just a treadmill and/or bike. I didn't partake of evening cookies but the breakfast provided a nice variety from muffins, waffles, and omelets to fruit, yogurt, and oatmeal. Free wifi is always a plus. Pros: Clean rooms, close to the airport and local businesses, comfy bed, fairly quiet, newish fixtures & finishes, offer toiletries at front desk if you forgot something (toothpaste!), cookies in the lobby at night, good prices to be had on hotwire or hotels.com Cons: Parking lot can be quite crowded on weekends (seems to be due to the restaurant it shares the parcel with), lobby is not on the 2nd floor (not terrible but something you need to keep in mind as you come & go). Hampton Inn is located right off I-89 exit 16, so it's very easy to get to. Hotel rooms are good and the service by the staff is great. There is a restaurant and bar located adjacent to the hotel, now called the Lighthouse Seafood & Grill. Costco is located right down the road and some fast food restaurants, Junior's Italian Restaurant, Athen's Diner, and a Vietnamese restaurant are located close by. Good spot, decent hotel. read more

I've stayed here many times over the last 15 years or so while visiting Vermont in autumn and I have never had any complaints. We most recently stayed this past October over Columbus Day weekend. Our room was spacious and very clean. The bed was quite comfortable, and there was a cozy armchair and foot rest by the window, which offered a nice mountainous view. They do have to catch up with the times and get flat screen TV's for the room though (still had a tube TV). Free Wi-Fi is a nice plus. The lobby has a nice sitting area and they keep the fireplace going all day. Breakfast buffet is included in your stay. Not huge, but definitely enough of a selection to satisfy anyone: eggs, an array of cereals, oatmeal, muffins, bagels, and plenty of coffee and juices. The Hampton Inn is located right off Exit 16 on I-89 (you can't miss it), just a short ride from Burlington and the Lake Champlain Islands. read more

Due to the placement of the AC unit (between the bathroom and bed), it acted as white noise to keep hallway noises out, which was great. Bathroom was large. Only complaint was the urine smell every time we entered the room. Now, I can't say for sure that it was urine, maybe it was some ammonia-based cleaning product. Big bucks for bare bones is the story here. I paid $250 for one night and thought for sure some event must be going on to drive up prices, but the parking lot had plenty of empty spaces in the morning. There was no lotion in the room. I asked about it and was told "we're all out". The hot tub they used to have was removed. The hair dryer was rinky dink, and even the pen was almost out of ink. The shower didn't function well. More water came out of the tub during full shower mode than out of the showerhead. There are no vending machines so you have to either go out or buy items at their overpriced store. The cheapest drinks are $3.00, are inferior brands (like Powerade not Gatorade) and they don't have change. There is a bizarre first and second class citizen wifi setup to try to get more money out of you. The breakfast was unimpressive. The eggs in particular appear to have come out of a box. However, the cookies are good, the beds comfortable, the hotel is quiet, and they have HBO. But it was not worth the price charged. read more

Family had an overnight stay on the weekend of February 16th. I met them there for breakfast the following morning at 8:30. They said their room was "adequate" however we found the entire breakfast area in the lobby was a total mess. There was litter everywhere and not much food available as the coffee was empty, so was the tray that was supposed to contain eggs and there was no fruit available. I went to the restroom to allow some time for the area to be cleaned and found that the restroom too was filthy. We asked at the front desk for a manager and were told "there was no on duty" although this was a busy Holiday (Presidents Day) weekend. I found this very disappointing and well below the standards I would expect from a Hilton. read more

One of the worst stays and experiences I've had with any hotel. We chose the Hampton Inn for our wedding party / out of town guest hotel because I had always had such a wonderful experience with Hampton Inn's in the past. This however was anything but enjoyable. From the get go the staff was unhelpful and made booking the hotel for my wedding guests a frustrating experience. As the bride, no assistance was offered to help make my weekend less stressful; when I asked if I could request a room just a single hour before the 3pm check-in I was told that was not possible and if I wanted to guarantee that I would have a place to PUT ON MY WEDDING DRESS! that I would have to check in the day prior. (I was told I couldn't even use a conference room if need be). Great sales pitch. Fast forward to post wedding, we arrive in our tiny room with dirty blood stained sheets, and stained shower. The room was noisy, you could hear every sound from the hallway. The poor building design coupled with the obnoxious AC unit and refrigerator meant very little sleep. Onto breakfast where the only options were dry eggs, sold out bacon, and and a trashed breakfast area. Seats were greasy and food was smeared all over the tables and floor. No staff in sight to keep things tidy. Even coming by a glass of water was impossible,and we left tired, hungry, and angry that we had just dropped $200 a night on a room that was slightly more impressive than a hostel. Actually the Burlington hostel looks like it might be a more pleasant stay even. Save your money. Go somewhere else. Anywhere. read more

This hotel was mediocre. There was a large open trash bag at the entrance of the hotel. There was random trash around the hallways that wasn't picked up for the 4 days I spent here. There was loud noises throughout the night. The garbage cans are too small and the toilet paper is scratchy. The fridge is too small. The breakfast was pretty good and was the best part of the hotel. Although, there was only one waffle maker working. There were cob webs on the ceiling which I had to get down myself. The beds were pretty comfortable but there was dried blood on my sheet. The quality and variety of the breakfast offering has something for everyone and there is plenty of everything! At night they provide hot cookies that are exquisite (I may have eaten more than one!). A big plus for me is the free WiFi. Plus I love being able to bring my leftovers (from the restaurant right next door "TBones" back to the room for a late night snack (mini-refrigerator & microwave are a great bonus). I try to make sure that I work out when I travel and their gym has everything I need - even a salt water pool! Whenever we have folks travel to VT we set them up at the Hampton Inn Burlington and have had the joy of staying for pleasure ourselves! I stayed at the Hampton Inn Burlington for one night. This visit was for business and was fine for work needs. When I checked in, I was greeted by a semi-friendly woman. I was a little disapointed when I saw that my room was the closest room to the lobby. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I was never disrupted by the sounds in the lobby. Anyone thinking about staying here anytime soon, recommend you look elsewhere. The elevator is still out of order. We were advised to haul our extremely heavy suitcases up to the 5th floor. Really?! Luckily, it was not a problem for us; may be an issue for someone else. In addition, as I'm sitting in our room at the desk looking at the door, there is a wide gap. Yes, I can see into the hallway. Isn't that a fire safety issue? The decor is also not up to Hampton standards. As Greg mentioned in his review, the gentleman at the front desk is very nice. Luckily, we are only staying one night. Old looking fruit salad and just garbage carbs were offered (I took a banana and a cup of coffee to go). I could not get the room temp below 73 all night and it was 48 outside! That made it difficult to sleep. Not a bad place but for about $175 on a Monday night with AAA discount I don't feel it was a good value. Overall, we had a pleasant stay at the Hampton Inn Burlington in Colchester, VT. Pros - - Friendly staff. - Clean rooms. - Plenty of towels and toiletries provided (and a sign that lets you know that if you forgot any common items, such as razor, shaving cream, comb, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc. that they will provide that item to you without charge at the front desk!). - Complimentary WiFi for guests (no HHonors membership required). Good, solid speed, but not quite fast enough for Netflix. - Complimentary breakfast with quite a few options (see note about the eggs in the cons section). - Just over an hour's ride from the closest decent-sized cities in Quebec. - 24/7 coffee, tea, and juice bar (decent tea selection, decaf coffee and 2 regular blends). Plus, the coffee was good! - 2 USB charging plugs in the room. - Digital thermostat in room. - Nice flat screen TV with a clear digital signal. - Microwave and refrigerator. Cons - - There's no service elevator, so staff use the main elevators (located in separate locations in the hotel) to move their large carts up and down the floors. - Cookie:30 is a mad house. The hotel guests seem to have lost all sense of decency in an effort to eat as many cookies as possible every night. Honestly, it's a sad spectacle. If the hotel had a better way to organize this nightly event, it would not be so chaotic for everyone involved. - Breakfast eggs are just plain WEIRD. Seriously. Google "Hampton Inn Eggs" and you'll see. I know it's a chain thing, but they should retire the eggs from the menu. Fortunately there are plenty of other things to eat in the complimentary breakfast. - It really is just about 5-7 minutes from downtown Burlington, but from 8-9am and 4-6pm it can be way more difficult than it should be to make the left-hand turn necessary to get on Route 2 to get on 89. There's not much you can do about this as pretty much all the traffic is headed in the same direction as you are. - Only 1 walk-able restaurant is near the hotel, and the reviews on Yelp were so bad we ended up driving to all of our meals. read more

My husband said it got noisy with doors slamming and people above us moving around but I didn't hear anything. Breakfast was amazing and more than made up for having to pay taxes (we're from Oregon and dont have sales tax. YEAH!) Would highly recommend the Hampton Inns. read more
