    Bathroom door

We checked in and went to our room. We were told this was a newer hotel. I could smell the new carpet smell however it was not kept up. 2 days and carpet not vacuumed in the halls nor elevators. The absolutely unexceptionable room condition was the bathroom door. There should be a notification at check in that the bathroom door slides like a barn door; not closing and unable to lock. It was absolutely ridiculous and will not return.

It was less than $200 and the suite was pretty large (see photos), the kitchen had everything you need, there were 2 tvs one in living room and one in bedroom. Bathroom was huge (see photo). Very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was complete with hot food, although both mornings we were there, small complaint, only sausage no bacon. The people of course very friendly and they kept all the food stocked. The fitness room was pretty good for a hotel, not like the Marriott Marquis but still more than adequate. Also attached to the fitness room is a laundry room and it says it is free. You need your own detergent but that seems like a good deal. All in all very good experience.

Everything was spotless and smelled nice. The kitchenette was stocked with cups plates and bowls. Dove shower products in the shower. I saw a small firepit outside me window which is lovely. The breakfast was hot and not excellent but not bad. Fresh fruit, yogurt, eggs, cereal, sausage, milk, coffee... a little something for everyone. Everything was exceptionally clean and in good shape. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone traveling through.

We found this hotel from the map that was between Chicago and Lafayette, and per Google Map, there were many stores around in this area. I am very glad that we chose this place to stay a night instead of heading to West Lafayette directly. When we arrived in Chicago, there was a big thunderstorm where we could barely see the highway. It was really scary, and we were all concerned about our safety. Thanks to this hotel, we were able to rest during the storm. The hotel itself isn't fancy, and it's more like a regular Comfort Inn. While it's not sparklingly brand new, it was clean and comfortable. The room was very spacious. The beds were fine. We got clean sheets and towels. The breakfast selection was limited, but with this price I couldn't expect to get a full buffet. It's enough for our breakfast anyways. The staff was friendly and helpful. The TV remote in our room didn't work, so I did tell the staff when I checked out. The staff thanked me and took a note. We would love to come again if we would be in the area next time.

Hallway carpets really need cleaning. My toilet seat was loose. If you used the microwave it smelled like something burning. The laundry is one washer, one dryer both very used. Staff was really working hard but friendly, except the evening desk clerk.

As the summer season wrapped up on Labor Day weekend, I am so glad I found Thyme for Bed on bedandbreakfast.com when looking for getaways not-too-far from our Chicago home. Bill and Crystal are the new innkeepers at this unique and cozy B&B in the middle of cornfields and far enough away from the city lights that you feel like your in your own little bubbled respite. And when I say bubble, I mean literally, the giant concrete sphere makes that feeling a bit of a unbelievable reality. Upon arrival, Crystal gave us the grand tour of the one-of-a-kind dome, and we got the inside scoop on lots of details about the structure itself. And while we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Pheasant Room, we can't wait to go back to enjoy a stay in the Santa Fe-esque "In Your Dreams" Master Suite. The beautiful gem-walled walk-in shower power base bed, and huge jacuzzi was more than enough to convince us. :-) Of course, the down-to-earth hospitality of Bill and Crystal were the icing on the cake. We left feeling like a part of the family, and with bellies full of homemade yogurt parfait, delicious fresh peach topped french toast tartlet, and cinnamon scones lingering in our taste buds.

They stayed up until we arrived at 10pm and we chatted with the lovely couple for almost an hour after that- just about life! They were so friendly and easy to talk to, and if we had not been so tired we would have loved to continue talking to them over coffer. We learned a lot of interesting facts about the Dome and that it is the probably the safest place in case of any natural disaster or fire. Our stay was short (just one night) but we would love to come back just to have a more relaxing stay and enjoy the beautiful outdoors around the Dome as well. The room was certainly a fun design and everything was super clean. There was coffee, tea, water, and snacks at the ready right outside our room upstairs, available at any time. We had to wake up and leave pretty early (7AM) the next morning to catch our flight from Chicago and Bill & Crystal both woke up early to see us off. They also made us coffee and orange scones (which were delicious) for the road. We really appreciated their closeness and openness- definitely a must see place and a great B&B. We hope to be back! This is not necessarily a negative but there was ALOT of furniture everywhere. I can see some people not liking this because it does feel as if you are literally in someone else's home- but I thought it made it a little more authentic. The more you got to know the owners, the more fitting it felt.

She had to walk back and forth to the back office. Then she walked upstairs to check to see if my room was ready (yes there was a line of customers). She was aloof too. Zero greetings or communication about my stay. Elevator out. Read it's been out for weeks. Hall carpet nasty looking. Room furniture dated but functional. TV too. Bathroom OK, except sink drains very slowly. Ice bucket had no liner and was damp. Bed OK but more pillows needed for a king bed. Pulled the last Kleenex out of box. Looked and there was that usual bundle still at the bottom of the box, rolled up. But, tissues were white before and bundle below was blue? Never heard of that before. Hmmmm... It was quiet but I noticed people nearby were also older single guys on work stays like me. I only gave it a 2 as breakfast was decent. Afterwards, noted no email receipt. Checked Hilton Honors account. Said late cancellation! No. I was there. Already sent them a message on that. Even told them my room number. No receipt, so I might not get reimbursed now. Argh. I cannot believe Hilton allows their good name to be associated with this location. Nearly total fail. If you look, bad reviews lately, good reviews years ago.
