Just an AWFUL experience. The property is going through some renovation, but absolutely no excuse for the problems we encountered, and the lack of any interest on the part of the property manager Michael Samuels, to correct the problems or make ammends for our terrible stay. I would expect the extent of these conditions at a Motel 6, EconoLodge, or Super 8 for a third of the price, but Hampton Inn is usually a middle of the road chain and we paid $175/night for this dump. I expected somewhat higher standards. The problems: tv did not work. window blind did not work. furniture surfaces and lamps dusty. coffee maker filthy. no trash bags in trash cans. large crack in bedside desktop. we checked in late, so no one to really fix anything. The next morning we got a cheap breakfast in a bag, instead of the promised breakfast bar. no lobby coffee makers offered, told to use the filthy room coffee maker. we asked the front desk to have maintenance to fix the broken tv and have housekeeping vacuum, dust, empty trash, and supply fresh towels. when we returned that night - NOTHING HAD BEEN DONE. no room service and still a broken tv. the night desk person did move us to a different room, but that room also had filthy coffee maker, dusty surfaces, and a broken towel hanger in bathroom. but at least the tv worked. The room experience was bad, but what was worse was the lack of concern on the part of the property manager. He apologized and promised to refund our stay, because their goal "is to have satisfied customers", but once we left the property, his promises never materialized and all communication was ignored. I imagine this attitude is why the housekeeping staff and maintenance are not doing their jobs...no one cares. The property itself is not terrible, and could be vastly improved quickly with some interested employees and competent management. However, the lack of care and cleanliness is no where near the standards I'd expect from Hampton Inns, and this property is a dump and not worth a stay. read more

My family and stayed at this location for my sons college graduation. Location and accommodation were nice but the smell was horrendous. There is a sewer gas leak issue that is not being addressed. We arrived late in the evening the day before the event, all other hotels were sold out so we were forced to stay here. DO NOT BOOK UNTIL YOU CONFIRM THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN RESOLVED. Hotel management has not followed up even after Johnson city Fire Department confirmed it that night. read more

The hotel was locked when we arrived at 9:15. There was no bell to ring and we had reservations. Another guests arrived who had checked in previously. He left us in and we rang the bell to check in. We hd to wait for the clerk to finish a phone call. We stayed on the 2nd floor. The hall are very small and narrow. The room was clean! The toilets seem very low to the ground. The continental breakfast featured cheese omelettes and canadian bacon (pork ham it was labeled) and french toast sticks. There was a nice assortment of pastries. There was bananas and apples. The clerk to check out was in the back when we were checking out and came out to help us quicker than we were checked in. read more

I stayed May 10, 2023 while visiting for the Tyler Childers concert. There were renovations being completed. You heard the noise through the day, but all was quiet at night so no big deal. The room was fine, but the sliding glass shower door left me wondering if it was going to fall, get stuck, leave me stuck inside the shower, etc. I didn't have time to stop and ask for it to be fixed while I stayed as I was on a whirlwind trip. Did inform the desk, but I had a feeling it had been broken for a long time. Waffle House right next door that you can walk to and grab a bite. The hotel staff didn't seem to recommend it, so I skipped it. Close to ETSU, which is where the concert was being held. Paid $150/night. read more

The hotel has 3 floors. The top floor is under reconstruction. From 8am until 8pm Monday through Saturday you get to listen to jackhammers, drills, hammering and lots of other random noises. The floor tiles inside the elevator are cracked and loose and it feels like your going to fall through. The second floor ice machine is missing leaving an open drain in the floor. Pillows press completely flat when you use them. Never again. read more

My family stayed here with our dogs, it's a nice place to stay. We checked in late and was informed about the construction on first floor, glad it was the weekend coz apparently they don't work during weekends. The staff were nice, our room is comfortable with nice hot shower. read more

I visited this Hampton Inn for one evening. I arrived early in the evening and was surprised at empty the parking lot was. I thought I had the whole place to myself (it filled in quickly). Check in was friendly and efficient and I appreciated my Hilton Honors gifts. The room was clean and well decorated with a really nice picture of the mountains. I know hotel decor is usually pretty sterile but I really liked that picture. The bed was comfortable but the couch was not. I wish the arms weren't so high because I couldn't find a great way to sit. Close to the hospital and the ETSU campus. Lots of food around and easy to access. I'd stay here again if I return to Johnson City. read more

I'd stay here again. The people are friendly and I was checked in promptly. The halls are long and the colors are gorgeous. The downstairs breakfast area is clean and nice and there is a ton of seating. I saw people sitting and hanging out in the lobby because of the great seating and comfortable atmosphere. My room was clean and just right. I like to get two queen sized beds so I can spread out all of my stuff on the other bed and it was perfect. Just enough room and the AC worked well. I found it interesting that if I moved up the temp in my room the heat would actually kick in to bring the temp up! So don't be alarmed if that happens. Also, even though the parking lot was full and it looked busy I didn't hear a darn thing in my room and I was super happy for that! The bedding was comfy and I got all the stations I needed on the TV (hello, ID channel!!). Never had one problem. I'd definitely stay here again and I'd recommend it. *tip* be patient with traffic coming out of the parking lot. You can't just take a left without looking and waiting. Your usual business traveler hotel. This one is in an older building and you can tell that the rooms have been redone with new furnishings since everything is in the modern style that you come to expect at every Hampton Inn. Since this one is across from the hospital, I would expect that the majority of the customers are usually visiting Johnson City Medical Center in one form or another. I will say that overall, it was a great place, but one thing that was both a pro and con. There was a security guard that was patrolling in the lobby area when we checked in at around 12am or so. I don't remember whether or not this person was armed, but it definitely made me feel like: 1) It's good to have security. 2) Why was there a need for security? Hmmm... If it wasn't for that particular part, I probably would have given it at least a four star since it was clean, and seemed to be well managed. read more

This also continued into the bathroom where our whirlpool bath was. The towel holder on the wall was falling off. I had to clean the bath before using because it looked unclean and smelled like an old mop or mildewed rag. Next to the air conditioning unit the floor was soaking wet. When going to the front desk and asking for a snack from the Hilton honors program the front desk person stated they all they had was trail mix and water. He also was unpleasant about it. Overall I would most likely stay again. However they need to have maintenance take care of the rooms better. Especially when someone pays for a suite. read more

I recently stayed here for a work week, and it is a nicer hotel that has been updated, but as the previous reviewer stated, it's an older building that has been renovated. Everything certainly LOOKS nice, but the only complaint I had was the humidity in the room from either the weather all week, or just the way the air flows, left the carpet feeling a bit....moist. I was glad I brought my house shoes (I like to be prepared), because my naked feet were not enjoying the moistness. Housekeeping does a great job, and the pool area is also a nice place to hang out. For any late night people or early morning people who want some grub, there is a Krystals and a Waffle House surrounded by the hotel (walking distance). The Hampton Inn offers free continental breakfast, just your usual standard breakfast. Juice is offered at all hours in the lobby. read more

I stayed here the other night and was greeted by a very friendly man working at the front desk. I wish I found out his name soI could give him credit. After checking in I was able to drive right across the street to Taco Bell for a late night dinner. If Taco Bell isn't for you, there's lots of other options nearby. The bed in my room was one of the most comfy beds I've ever slept on. The breakfast provided in the morning had plenty of great things to choose from. And there was a Wal-Mart located conveniently right down the road about two miles which was perfect because I needed to pick up some things. Horrible location unless you need to be at Johnson City Med Center (practically next door) which I suppose is the reason for the majority of people who come here. Busiest part of Johnson City and least desirable location on State of Franklin Rd. Check - in was delayed 15 minutes while desk clerk chatted on telephone. Did not arrive early. Room way overpriced at $175 a night. Furniture scarred by years of use. Room old and tacky. Bathroom old looking and tub dirty. Bath was large but not nice. Paying an extra $50 for the tub wasn't worth the $$$. Room large but lots of wasted area in room...bar with no running water, huge closet taking up space, asked for extra pillows and night clerk huffed and puffed about having to put cases on 3 pillows. Took him 15 minutes. Didn't have breakfast. Noisy all night. The Carnegie Hotel is cheaper and lots nicer, I will stay there next time. read more

This was a great Hampton Inn property. There was a renovation taking place but it was not loud or inconvenient. The room we had was clean and comfortable, the free breakfast was good and parking was easy. The staff was also extremely inviting and accommodating. If we are back in the area, we will stay here for sure. read more

Stayed here for five nights during a relocation trip. I don't think we heard anyone else during the nights except for a couple doors closing. Stayed here for a wedding. This hotel had been recommended by the family. I got there about 3 hours before recommended check in but they had a room ready for me. the young lady at the front desk was so nice and answered all my questions about the area. My room was well laid out and very clean. Everything was in order, plus they had an extra blanket in the closet! yea! Sometimes I get cold cause I'm old! I needed a late checkout option and they were very accommodating. They didn't act put out and they called housekeeping to let them know while I was standing there. The breakfast was one of my favorite. I had just gotten back from a Krispy Kreme ( not to far away) when I smelled the bacon! Yes bacon fried right, plus eggs, scones and other bread product plus all the cool waffle stuff. Multiple coffee options, etc. Very clean and the staff kept everything neat, even with the big crowds. Would I stay here again? Sure would, sometimes it does coast a little more to sleep and eat well. Side note, there is a Krystals next door! How cool is that? read more

My two-day stay here was flawless. The accommodations were as good as I can remember for a limited service hotel. Our room was large and well-appointed, the bed was comfortable, the service was friendly. We chose the hotel because of its proximity to Johnson City Medical Center. The fact that it also sits between a Waffle House and a Krystal might seem off-putting, but, having grown up in East Tennessee, I know that such establishments are ubiquitous. Nothing that we saw or experienced during our stay made the location seem unsafe or uncomfortable. read more

Beware weak and weary travelers! We usually stay here to visit family and find the accommodations acceptable. After driving through the night we called ahead to see about checking in early or at least a discounted rate for only sleeping a few hours. Not the case. They relayed that on the contrary, prices increase as it gets later. The price increased by $40 a night checking in at 3:30am. The Carnegie on the other hand (luxury hotel) offered us a deeply discounted rate that beat Hampton in by $50. The Carnegie now has our business when staying in Johnson City. read more

My 16 year old son and I stayed here for personal reasons. The check was quick and courteous. We even asked at check in for a feather free room and they got that done before we got off the elevator. This hotel is very clean and had plenty of evening delish snacks out. They really went out of their way to make sure we were comfy. The price was affordable and worth every penny. The weight room was extremely clean and cool in temperature. The pool was glistening clean and great temp too. I will be back! read more

Over priced rooms. Wi-Fi is not free! Small rooms, not completely finished from being remodeled, huge cut out where a bar use to be in the room with nothing there at all expect empty space. I recently stayed at the Johnson City, TN Hampton Inn. There were several minor things wrong with my room; light bulb burned out, battery dead in TV remote, electrical outlet on desk lamp non-functional, etc. I plugged in my lap top to charge overnight, only to wake up and find out it did not charge because the outlet wasn't working. Sure, I should have checked to see that it was taking a charge before going to bed, but I didn't. All of these things are relatively minor, but when checking out, the Hampton associate asked me how my stay was, so I told him about the few things that were wrong with my room and that someone should look into these things to improve the stay for the next guest. He apologized and said he would not charge me for the room. I was surprised, certainly not expecting to receive this compensation. However, a couple weeks later I received my credit card statement and sure enough, I was lied to. My room for that night was charged in full to my credit card. So disappointing! I wasn't looking to get a freebie, but I certainly didn't like being lied to. I will avoid this Hampton Inn in Johnson City, TN during my next visit. read more
