The bedding upon checking in doesn't look fresh.
    Alicia E.

I had stayed at this hotel in the past and had more pleasant experiences, but my last visit was not up to par. It began with check-in. I had called in to request an early check-in, to which I was told I could check in an hour early. Check in time is normally 4 pm. It ended up being 5pm before my room was ready. I do understand staffing is a struggle right now, but there were maybe ten cars total at the hotel, and I had called early that morning to ask about check-in, so they did have 7-8 hours to prepare for my arrival. Once my room was finally ready, the polite front desk clerk advised me I could do a late check-out for my trouble. I thought that was a nice gesture. She asked me what time I preferred to check out and I said "whatever you can offer me," to which she advised me 1pm would work. I was then literally chased down the hall by the manager and told they didn't do that there, did not have to honor that, and I would need to leave at 12, or I could leave the hotel right then if I was not happy with it. Yikes, that was a bit harsh. That's fine, I hadn't asked for 1pm in the first place, but the whole experience was unpleasant and unprofessional. I certainly didn't feel like a welcomed guest. Once I got into my room I discovered it was the wrong room type. The room also did not look fresh. It looked like the bed was made up, but that perhaps the bedding had not been changed. I went to the front desk to ask for the room I had originally booked. They argued I had booked that room until I pulled out the screenshots of the room I actually booked in the app. Luckily I always take screenshots of any arrangements I make. I was moved into the correct room by 6pm. The rest of the evening was uneventful and the new room was fine. They did keep two $50 holds on my account instead of one, due to their error in rooms (charging a hold for each room). Both holds fell off my account eventually, that was just another minor inconvenience. Breakfast the next morning was nice and the lobby was kept clean and pleasant. The app did not work for either check-in or check-out, so I did it at the front desk. Again not major, just another of many inconveniences for this stay. Customer service is usually phenomenal at Hampton Inns, so I won't stop using them. I will stop using this one, though.

Makeup towel so you don't have to ruin the white towels

Hilton hotels are always a step above the rest. The outdoor pool here was great and at night it is lit up. We sat out there in the comfy lounge chairs while the kids swam. We didn't use it, but if you want to grill, they even had a nice gas grill out there. They are currently remodeling the inside of this property so it smells a bit funky and feels a bit like a construction site in the halls. Didn't notice any serious noise though. One nice touch I haven't not experienced before was a black towel labeled "makeup" so you don't have to dirty the white ones!

    Filthy shades on lamp

If I could give it a negative I WOULD! Filthy, unsafe and the person at the front was beyond rude!

Since I'm the one to set this place up on Yelp for the first time, we're obviously staying here when it's brand new. It's super duper nice. A Hampton on steroids. The fitness room has equipment I've only seen at my $66/month gym. The pool area looks like a swanky San Francisco wet area. The rooms, hallways and common areas are all flawless. Each room is equipped with a microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker and tons of lamps. This Hampton Inn is next door to a Holiday Inn (the place we used to stay) and a Wal*mart. There are tons of restaurants within walking distance including a local Italian restaurant (Gondolier), a Burger King, Zaxby's and Hardees. It's a few yards from I-75 with easy, quick access to Knoxville. If you're staying in Clinton, TN, this is definitely the place to stay.

The floors from the entrance, all the way down the hall to our room were covered in dried mud. I did not want to track that into my own room, but it was unavoidable. Although I appreciate the simplicity and frugality of the setup, there were not a lot of choices for breakfast and very little to make it tastier. There was white and wheat bread (no bagels or pastries), very simple scrambled egg patties and sausage links. No hot sauce or cheese to dress it up a bit. There was a small waffle iron (I don't eat waffles), and a couple of cereals. No fruit. The butter was refrigerated and so cold that it wouldn't spread on my toast, so I snagged some for the next morning and let it thaw in my room. The staff was very friendly and accommodating of our early arrival, which was a plus. So, for a cheap & unplanned stay, it suited our needs and our circumstances (being stuck in the area mid-trip for truck repairs), but wouldn't use this spot for a planned trip or extended stay.

Breakfast is an abomination!!! Terrible!!! Worst hotel breakfast ever!!!! If breakfast is a component in planning, SKIP this inn. Seems like a bean counter assembled the cheapest components that might relate to a breakfast. Instant oatmeal in pot with 3 inches warm water on top. Coffee area is hidden. Frozen breaded chicken for breakfast???? Something is passing for eggs!!!! Get a grip - there are several other motels nearby. There is a group of teen age girls in line for the waffle machine. Breakfast area is Slammed at 7:00AM ( opening time on Saturday.) Open at 6:00AM to relieve congestion. MY solution: take coffee and depart to a much better breakfast location. Surely, a Regional Manager must be brought in to FIX this MESS. Redo and rearrange breakfast area. Discard all components of current breakfast bar and use a meal consultant.

The room I was placed in was clean for the most part aside from being under disrepair. When shown as brought to the managers attention she made it very clear that this was acceptable to Marriott's standards because all the items in the room weren't fully installed or on back order. Needless to say because of her attitude and behavior I asked to be checked out of the establishment. This is the first horrifying Marriott experience I've ever had. I am a gold elite member, card member and property owner, but if this is the new standard for Marriott then we should all be worried. I would highly advise you to stay somewhere else.
