This is a great property! I only stayed for one night as I was passing through Memphis on a road trip. I was happy with how clean the rooms was, the property in general and the staff treated us well. The outdoor pool had some bugs in it when we went to swim after dark, but, it's summer time in the south. It's to be expected. Overall I can't find anything bad to say about my stay. If I find myself needing a room on the SE side of Memphis, I would stay here again. read more

They are actually less than one star. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!! We made our reservation more than 24 hours in advance using the Hilton app. At 3:30 the day we were to check in we still didn't have the digital key. I had to call. They did the room the system picked for us was not clean yet so they picked the room. Over two hours later I finally got the digital key to check in. The room was missing soap and shampoo. I had to go get it. Tried calling the front desk from the room but the phone didn't work. Fast forward to the next morning (6-30-26), we found out after breakfast as we were getting ready to leave that we were 1 of 13 vehicles that were broken into round 2:00 AM. Smashed out a window but luckily we had nothing of value inside. No one said anything, we had to find out ourselves. After speaking to the Memphis police officer that came back twice to the property, the hotel had cameras where our vehicle was but they were not working. We were told of an alternative hotel in Germantown. The worst part of the entire experience, no one from the hotel management who we suspect are all family were at the front deck the entire morning. No apologies to the guest for our experience or their lack of security...NOTHING. they had a very nice young man upfront taking all the heat. Bless his heart. We were not expected anything but there was no gesture of a small amount of compensation for their poor management. Once again...DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!! read more

Excellent friendly, attentive customer service hands down from the desk clerk working doubles with a smile on his face, to the room attendants. I was so disappointed with the room and standard up keep of the amenities. The pool was closed ( didn't look like it was temporary) and the fitness room. I snapped a pic of the door to the fridge area, didn't want to use, and the couch has seen better days, I covered it with the bed blanket so we could use during our stay ( I recommend a good pleather couch and chair). There was several other things like lap surface and stuff but too much to mention. Again, staff A-PLUS!!!! read more

HORRIBLE! I arrived at the hotel early, hoping to check in early and was told no, not a big deal. I got a notification on the app that asked me to go to the front desk a few hours later, still before check-in, because the digital key would not populate. They told me that there was no issue and I should not have received a notification and there was nothing that they could do or no reason that they needed to assist at the front desk. Hours go by and I return to my hotel late in the evening expecting to be in my room and they share with me that the hotel over sold, and that there was an issue with my booking truly unacceptable considering that I was there all day in the establishment and asked to rectify what was wrong when I didn't even know there was anything wrong. No phone call. No nothing about a canceled room. No notification. I expect better from Hilton. read more

Hampton Poplar From Staff walk-ins, broken appliances, and incompetent employees. This hotel has it all. Service: Don't arrive early. They will tell you they can't provide early check-in if it was fully booked the evening prior and rooms won't be clean until 3pm. Yet, at 3pm, magically at least four rooms became clean and ready for check-in. See what I mean? Why not just say it's your policy or that we won't even look into it until 3pm. Where's the customer service? They did let me sit in the lobby for four hours to wait on their service. When 3pm came, the clerk assisted one family to a room while a line started at the counter. Then she walked to the back and disappeared for another 10 minutes without first saying anything like "I will be right back" or "one sec" at least to show you are a human in society and you have some common sense. If there is any chance you might want to casually watch television during your stay here, then I highly recommend checking the room first. Many reviews suggest this is an on going issue and management is aware yet choose to not fix the issue. Rooms 324 & 326 will never have a working television in my opinion. The staff and general manager are aware, although they will say they aren't. Then they will give you their suggestions on how to fix the issue they have "no knowledge" of. They may even tell you they are calling maintenance to come. He will not come. You may ask the manager about the results, they win't know. By day three without television you might track down maintenance yourself like I did. He may tell you he is aware and did not go to your room like he did me. He may look up at the sky and say there aren't any clouds out so it should work now. It won't and you better demand another room because the shenanigans will only continue. Broken towel rack. Mini fridge in 324 did not have a "working" low setting on mini fridge. See photo of exploded soda cans. Yes, I cleaned it only because I didn't trust the hotel to not try to charge me. This hotel makes you ask for the Do Not Disturb door hanger at the desk. Even if you display it. A well dressed male may still give your door a quick tap on the door and then barge in. No, he will not wait on you to open the door. He will tell you he wasn't aware someone was staying in the room. He will not apologize. He will even ask for you to come down to lobby to sort out their incompetence. Just ignore him. He'll figure it out. There are Asian Lady Beetles in the rooms here. I've seen three rooms just during my week's stay and have seen them with my own eyes. Hope someone who cares about any future guests does something about this place. It's a Motel 8 at best, disguised as a Hilton brand hotel. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I was charged a no-show fee even though I did an online check in. I reserved a room from Monday evening to Friday morning. I was working nights so Monday evening I could not make it to the site. I did a digital check in. At 855pm I got confirmation email stating I was all set. the following day I went I to the hotel and I was told I was a no show the previous night. The app was also not showing the reservation. The front desk clerk told me Hilton Corporate cancelled my reservation at 9pm, and I was being charged a no show fee. So my stat was cancelled 5 minutes after I got the confirmation email? He also said he could nothing to help. So I left and called customer service. After about 45 minutes of back and forth and getting escalated to supervisor, I was told there was nothing they can do that the hotel decides if they will refund the fee. Customer service also told me that the front desk clerk tried to help me by escalating it to his general manager. If that happened it was after I left because the front desk clerk flat out said he can't help me. OR he lied to the customer service rep. Guess what I think happened ? How can corporate not be able to authorize a refund? Hampton Inn Poplar is trash. I'm not happy with Big Hilton either. Currently a gold member about to cross into diamond for the 5 or 6 year. I've Never had issues like this in the 10 years I've used the hotel for work travel. read more

The staff was very friendly. Check-in was online so easy. We used a digital key. They had decaf coffee, which I appreciate. The room, on the other hand, smelled of mildew. The floor felt damp, although it wasn't. We left the AC on 65, hoping that whatever was causing the smell would dry out, but it continued through our stay. Other complaints: They were not running the AC in the hallways (and it was 90 degrees not adjusted for heat index outside), and the toilet seat was cheap plastic. We are pretty much done with the Hilton brand. Marriott facilities are much nicer at the same price point. read more

When filling out the paperwork we checked the "YES we have a pet" spot and still. It was somehow still a surprise and they charged us an extra $75? AND it's barely even pet friendly, the places for your dogs to go to the bathroom are SO small, if you have a bigger dog... good luck! This was the worst Hilton property I have been to. It looks like they're renovating or have renovated but missed the mold and water stains on the hallway carpet and drop ceiling. So that was welcoming. The staff seemed pleasant, so not their fault. The room was so tiny it didn't have a closet or any bedside tables. The ceilings were low and everything felt cramped. You almost run into the TV stand/dresser on the way to the sad bathroom. But the worst part is that the room struggled to get cool. One guy in the elevator was sweating and said it was 80 degrees in his room. And the lil constant fan was not enough to dim the outside noise. And I can't forget the train. The TRAIN!!! Train blows it's horn throughout the night and early morning. It cost $190 after tax (Hilton honors members) for the smallest room in a mediocre location. read more

Beware of pet fee scam!! This is not advertised on the Hilton app/website anywhere but they charge $75 PER PET instead of the normal/expected and advertised $75 per stay fee. Check-in was easy and fast by friendly and informative staff. There were complimentary cookies in the lobby on the Friday evening when we checked-in. The check-in staffers were very efficient, friendly and accommodating. While the lobby was small, the space was used very efficiently with the smart placement of furniture. The non-smoking room with a King-sized bed was nicely furnished and decorated. The entryway was a bit tight because our room had a door that connected it to the next room. Because of that door, the closet was on the other side of the room next to a desk work area. While this seemed sort of strange to place the closet on the other side of the room from the door, the placement worked with the design of the room. There was a full-length mirror also on that side of the room with the closet. This made the area a natural dressing area because the closet and mirror were placed conveniently close to one another. The bathroom was reasonably-sized and nicely updated with clean lines and light colors. The bed mattress was firm, the bedding was clean (by clean, I mean no visible spots or stains were on it) and the pillows were plentiful and soft. I had a very comfortable sleep, as usual when I stay at a Hampton Inn. Likewise, with the lobby, the small breakfast area made good use of the space. All the typical hot and cold things that Hampton offers were available. One remarkable standout was the eggs. They were REAL with added cheddar cheese and they tasted scrumptious. Actually, they were the best eggs I've ever tasted from a hotel free breakfast. Overall, the stay and experience at this Hampton was very satisfying. This location is not safe!! my car was one of 8 broken into over night. According to Memphis police, 4 cars parked in the exact same location were broken into the night before. The hotel did not feel it was necessary to warn guests. They did have an overnight security guard but he was in the lobby, even when the car alarms started going off. Staff was helpful with cleanup after the fact, but I was still out the cost of my room and the cost of replacing a car window. Hilton would do nothing to help and keeps closing the case without communicating with me. read more

It is clear the management of this location does not care about customers.   I called ahead to make sure we would have a crib available as we were flying in from out of state, was assured they have them, not a problem. We stayed for four nights and were never given a crib. We had asked 4 different people, all who said either "we don't have any" or that they would "try to find one" but no one ever found a resolution, and they never would let us know, we have to keep asking. I understand things happen but I would have paid extra to rent one in the area or pay to check mine on the plane instead of dealing with this hassle! We had to put pillows all around the bed to make sure our 9 month old wouldn't fall out of the bed.  We had to switch rooms because there was a plumbing issue and the shower did not work at all.  The smoke detector was hanging by wires on the ceiling. Which doesn't really feel safe with a family staying in the room.  The hallways, parking lot and outside areas reek of marijuana, constantly! So much that my 8 year old son asked why. This is a non smoking hotel and that is just not acceptable in a family hotel like this.  The website states that there is room service, there is not. That needs to be updated. I chose this hotel specifically for my son to order room service and it was a huge disappointment.  They kicked out kids at 8pm from the pool, saying it was closed, yet the signage that morning stated the pool was open until 10. On a Friday night in late July that is not right. They really just randomly added a sign on top of the one that was already there with new hours. My kids and I were very upset. Old signs are still there too (10am - 10pm). Free breakfast is decent, but they run out of items and don't usually replace them. The staff is generally very kind and friendly, despite not having a resolution for the complaints we've had. I think the issues we experienced are a direct result of poor management, and management that just doesn't care. Friendliness and southern hospitality only go so far and can't make up for the issues we had during our stay. read more

I wish I would have come to yelp before booking this hotel. Then, maybe I would have chosen another Hampton Inn location altogether. Unfortunately I did not and had to deal with a rude and unprepared staff. Please avoid this place if you can. I arrived about 7 minutes before the official check in time. I know that simply because the hotel manager immediately gave me an attitude about being early and asked me to wait. I was frustrated by this but did what I was asked and went to go wait the 7 minutes in the lobby. Maybe 2 mins after I sat down, however, a couple came in, an old white man came in, and a very large school group full of teenaged athletes came in--all ready to be checked in before 3 pm. The white man who walked in was the first person served and the first person to get a room even though he arrived after me but still before 3 pm. Seeing that his room was ready and they checked him in without any attitude or problems upset me so I got back in the check in line. Based on what the staff were all muttering underneath their breath, I am fairly certain I received an attitude from the manager just because they didn't have enough of their rooms cleaned and ready for us to even check in. I kept hearing the manager tell his staff there wouldn't even really be any checkins that day seconds before there was a crowd of at least 30 people backed up in that lobby. As I was in line waiting to be served, I watched the manager literally trying to stall the coach of the teenaged athletes asking the coach questions that had little or nothing to do with that teams reservation. He also tried to accuse the coach of not booking all of the rooms correctly but the coach had to swiftly let him know he had chosen this exact same hotel last year & knew what to do. I also watched the staff standing behind the computers and staring blankly while trying to check people in as if they didn't really know what to do or press. When it was my turn at the counter, only the manager knew how to bypass the digital key to get me a physical key (the room I chose online wasn't clean yet) so there were 3 people standing around the computer but only 1 knew what to do. Check in took excruciatingly long and I wasn't in my room until 3:25 pm. But I had been there since 2:53 pm. Since when does it take 30 mins to check in to a hotel with digital keys? NEVER. This has never happened to me at any other Hilton property and hopefully won't ever happen again. read more

I stayed here on business travel - the location was close to my office location and I typically try to stay within the Hilton family of hotels. We checked in a little past 9PM and didn't have the best customer service experience with the front desk. She was rushed and aggressive though we had already check-in via the mobile app and had our digital room keys. She then realized she didn't even need to speak to us. The hallway and flooring going up to the elevators (located in the back of the building) were quite dirty. My room was small and had some recent renovations which are nice. It was clean but it was odd that there was no closet in the hotel room. It was all I needed to stay in the room for about 10 hours. The one thing to definitely be aware of is BRING EARPLUGS because this hotel is near a railroad. Even with the air conditioner on and my white noise app playing, it could still hear the train blaring. I would return here again due to the proximity to my office, but if you're looking for a large relaxing room to a look at a different property. read more

The staff is AMAZING HERE and my room is ALWAYS clean. My rating of a one star comes from my weekend experience at the property. Guests were notified early Saturday morning around 5:30am that there had been a few car break-ins on the parking. Well it turned out to be 14 cars that were broken into, in which one was mines. The overnight receptionist (Cassandra) did a great job in handling the situation with the guests and was very sincere. At 7am it was shift change and J. J. took over for the morning shift.....she was very helpful and professional!!! The guests asked to speak with a GM and we were told that he was on the way to talk to us. Welllllll he never showed up AT ALL!!!! We were told that security was let go due to COVID. If a security guard would've been present there would've been a less chance of the break-ins happening. All this to say is that we weren't compensated in anyway at all.... Not a conversation with upper management, no complimentary room stay, offered a free meal or anything. Yet we had to still pay for our hotel stay plus pay to get windows put in.... I had to get two windows that cost $500. This situation was not handled properly. I'm a Hilton Diamond member and I have spent a lot of money at this particular property from April up until now. This is just a review and I'm going to take it much more further than this until I get some type of answers. And by the way, the sign on the front desk needs to be removed ASAP!!! 14 Guests checked out very UNHAPPY and we never got a chance to speak to anyone!!!! read more

I stayed here for a total of ten minutes. Not through the fault of anyone, but an act of the Big Guy upstairs. I pulled up after long day of travel and inspections to find a very bad thunderstorm had knocked out the power. I noticed this very fast when the firetrucks in the parking lot and the majority of the staff standing outside. The one counter person I did speak with was very polite and took the time to speak with me when I asked what my options were when I figured that I would not be staying here for the evening. "The Good" - The staff interaction I had was polite and cordial given the situation. The hotel was fine. They had friendly customer service, but my room was designed poorly. The bed was horizontal in the room, so to watch the TV you had to be turned awkwardly to see it which got a little old. There weren't any accessible plug ins near the bed either, which made charging my phone and computer not as convenient. They have complementary breakfast, water, and snacks set out throughout the day/night along with a small "convenience" store for little snacks & drinks. I would stay there again, as it's closest to my Corporate office, but I would hope for a different room next time. read more

Nice, safe and renovated location. Great customer service and comfortable beds. The continental is by far one of the best!!!!!!! However there a few inconveniences worthy of noting. Be advised if you are facing Poplar or the side street to turn into the hotel, you will hear the train going by, but it stops around 10:30pm. Also, the obviously remodeled doors don't have a snug close blocking out the hallway light. Both rooms I was in on the 3rd floor had doors smaller than the door frame and a good amount of light was able to shine all around the door from the hallway! Late my first night I walked around the bed through what felt like a puddle. At 6:30am the next morning I told the front office and was advised the would fix it immediately. However, when I returned at 6:30pm the next shift employee wasn't aware of the reported issue and if it was rectified. He accompanied me to check out the room and saw quickly it was unacceptable. I was moved to another room but was credited for the issue. Great handling of this by the rep, I believe his name was AJ. The next evening I was trying to get back to my room and the elevator wouldn't work. The other 4 people and I walked the stairs after waiting for 10 mins. The following AM the elevator wouldn't work from the ground floor, but would go down from the 3rd floor. Would I stay again, YES. My only advisement would be if there are issues, speak up and give them a chance to fix it so they can make it right! read more

When my family got there they had to wake up with bite marks and bed bugs . To hear that they had to wait for front desk to wake up and had to wait the next day to get an apology was very embarrassing. I also was extremely embarrassed to even say that I'm a Hilton team member. Smh we had the worst trouble finding a room else where due to bed bug incident at this location . Luckily after making a few compromises with the another property we were able to move to a different location . They never called back to reach out to them and ask if everything went well or if everything was okay . Very poor service !! read more

Rooms were OK and clean however hard to give it 4 stars for several reasons. I was on vacation and the handicapped or ADA for one of my guest I was going on vacation did not have enough room toe put her wheelchair to keep out of the way. The breakfast they offered was good but you had to be there early on the 1st floor and if you come down to get breakfast after 9 am all the good food like eggs, sausage links and sausage patties was gone. Despite that I was on the 4th floor I felt sorry for people staying on the 2nd floor since the elevator was not working for them and had to walk down the stairs. I can't imagine if they had to carry a lot of luggage as a big party of guests or family up and down to make such tiresome and inconvenient trips to settle in their rooms. They did not give or leave enough toilet paper and toiletries for a family or party of guest staying. The internet or WIFI went down at times and that too was not pleasant. Fitness rooms did not have wipes to wipe the equipment down such as an elliptical or treadmill and sometimes there were not water cups for the water dispenser. Staff was friendly but not very informative on sight seeing in Memphis besides Graceland and Civil Rights museum. When checking out they did not have enough luggage strollers to move your luggage and I had to ask one member while one staff said I had to wait which was a disappointment. All in all it was not a 2 star in which I have stayed in worst and this is Hampton Inn I was expecting a little better regardless on what city you go to whether Memphis or Chicago in which I came from for a 4th of July vacation. The check in person was very nice and the process easy. Our room was on the 4th floor across from the elevator but was very quiet. The shower was very good and had fast hot water. The room had a slight mildew odor I noticed when I first entered the room. Very minimal closet. Breakfast was okay. They are renovating the kitchen. They only had herbal tea which was disappointing. The place is dated, and it literally took 15 minutes for the machine at the front desk to make my room keys...... and then it only made one. The carpeting is almost worn, and the room is tiny. Let me preface this by saying I'm generally not one to leave a negative review or any review at all for that matter but this experience was different. Let me paint an image for you. If you have ever experienced trying to run in waist deep water that is what it felt like to attempt to stay at this Hampton Inn location. Here is my tale and if you still attempt to stay at this location due to its proximity to the business district just know that you brought this upon yourself. My saga began with my Hilton Honors app when I pulled over at a rest area to book my lodgings for the night. This was around 5 or maybe 6 o'clock pm. Once this property was booked I was elated and relieved to find not only a property that fit into my budget but also a property that was very close to my intended location. Oh did I mention that Hampton Inns are actually my favorite affordable business travel hotel? Ok back to the story, I was scheduled to arrive in Memphis around 8:40 pm on that fateful Thursday night and received a call from an attendant when I was about an hour out. The attendant informed me that this call was a courtesy and that my room was not longer available. Oh the horror! At this point, I still did not have an issue. At this point, I knew that this Hampton Inn would fix this. At this point, I wasn't worried. I'm an Honors member and have never had a bad experience to date. Boy was I wrong. In response to the attendant I politely asked to speak with the GM and was transferred. I told the GM that the fact they were over booked wasn't a problem and that I just wanted her/him to find me a comparable place to stay at the same rate and within a similarly proximity to my meeting in the morning. The GM's response was not hopeful and I stated that was ok. I still did not have an issue at this point. So I called Hilton Honors and told them of my predicament. This is when the real issue began because at this late of an hour (on a week night) the prices of all of the similar properties in the business district had increased or been booked. To make a long story short I was on the phone with Hilton Honors for over an hour and a half and was told that I was a liar (through inference), told that it was the franchisee's fault and ultimately passed right back to the previous GM at the Poplar location. I will say the second time I talked to the GM he/she was much friendlier although equally as useless in helping my find accommodations for their error or "glitch" as it was called. Ultimately, I thanked the GM for his/her time and then proceeded at 9:35 to just strike out and find my own lodging. This was prompted by the fact I was just tired of sitting in my car at a gas station for the past hour. It took me 3 minutes to book a Hampton Inn 10 minutes from my location for less money. Why couldn't the GM help me with this? Her suggestion was a location in Arkansas 45 minutes back in the direction I had just driven from. The entire experience from Honor's support to the employees at this location simply seemed as though they were listening but simultaneously watching Netflix. The GM honestly didn't even know that there was another Hilton property within sight of this property. To be fair I did receive 5,000 free points for my troubles after the person at Hilton Honors continued to blame the franchisee for my issues. But it's like I told her, I never wanted the points I just wanted to be treated like a customer and not placated. Furthermore, if it was about the points 5,000 points isn't even enough to stay at the location I was booted from. I could go on for days but in short if your going to deal with Hilton Honors you need to pay the annual credit card fee to become Diamond so they will actually help you and if you plan to stay at this location just understand that you may be bumped from your room by a computer "glitch." And by computer "glitch" I mean a diamond member that probably needed a room after I book my own. read more

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this Hampton. The location is central to numerous restaurants and shopping choices. My room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was typical Hampton. I was concerned when I checked in about the very limited fitness center (just a bike, treadmill, and eliptical) but that was quelled quickly. The hotel has an association with a full service gym (Dac Fitness) just down the road - all I had to do was show my room key in order to use the gym every day of my stay. The staff was friendly and provided excellent customer service - something lacking in many locations today. This will be my hotel if I return to Memphis in the future. read more

We stayed here Memorial Day weekend 2011 and it was a great stay. The stay was top-notch, the accommodations were exactly what we needed and expected, and we were close enough to the touristy areas to make the drive fairly short. Two quick gripes: I don't know why the pool was closed. It was hot outside and I could have used a nice dip in the pool. The free continental breakfast was a bit of a mess and they couldn't keep up with the demand of the patrons. We would definitely stay here again. It was an above-average experience. read more

Its ok, but I am a frequent visitor to Memphis. the staff is fine, but it simply lacks some amenities I desire (frig, microwave, etc). also, many of the rooms have bad elec. outlet schemes. The shower curtains are too short for the showers, this is dumb. So, the staff seems fine, but the managers made some poor decisions. at approximately 3am on friday morning my cousin woke up saying something was biting her. we turn on the light and there are bed bugs.. we jump up call down stairs and after 20 min someone finally answers sounding as if we woke them up and tells us to come downstairs so we did. He just hands us another key card.. no apology no we will help you move no nothing. We asked if he wanted to come up to see? was there a report to do? he said no. So we take the cart an go pack up our room and just go to the new room. We both have bite marks all over out body including one on the face. the next morning i ask for a manager.. they said the manger wasnt in. I asked that they have the manager call me. they asked the issue i told them.. to which they said "oh i heard about that..we comped you one night" i still waiting on the manager to call so i go back and they tell me that the GM is out and the AGM is new. so they tell me FINALLY "we are sorry this happened we comp'd you last night stay" so i say what about our clothes and these bites all over us. NOTHING other than that the insurance company may call us. We showed him the video of the bug crawling the one trapped in the pillow case and the pic of one on the bed... as well as pictures of the bites all over us and showed them our bites marks on us right there standing with them. One night stay. So we immediately look for another hotel.. no other hotel wants to take us because of the bed bugs they said everyone else in our party could come but not us...WOW THE HILTON actually told us that too.. so finally we book another hilton online but we call to get early check in for all of our rooms they said NO... i explain the situation and they they said that my cousin and i couldnt come because they couldnt take the risk... so finally we agreed to go WASH ALL OUR CLOTHES and then they agreed to let us stay... this insane we got the bedbug bites from y'all hotel and this is how we are treated. You all should have heat treated all our items including our luggage and provided us with some ointment and comped our entire stay and compensated us for this discomfort.. But instead we had to wash and clean our own clothes and then buy our own ointment spend 6 hours looking for another hotel to relocate 9 people (4 rooms) then find a place to wash clothes only to come back home sunday nght and leave my luggage in the garage as so i can google how to treat my luggage and clothes. i am back at work scratching and rubbing on all these bites that are all over my body which will i am sure leave scars And the Hilton/Hampton say nothing read more
