Love the convenience of checking in through the app. We even got to pick our room, which was conveniently near the exit. Both beds were clean, the only small problem was that my mum saw 1 roach on our second night. The gym's really small and hard to work out in. Also, I believe it's up to 15 lbs where it's only 1 hand, then you have pairs. The room was also hot as well, even with the temp turned down. Free breakfast was offered, but I didn't partake. Good options nonetheless. I would definitely choose this inn again because it's right across from the gas station and right by the highway for ease of access. read more

We stayed here from Saturday to Tuesday. The price was right and the other hotels in the area were booked with wedding parties. The room was ok. The bed was pretty comfortable. The toilet didn't flush well at all. We reported it to the front desk and upon coming back to the room later, nothing had changed. The front desk staff were very nice and professional. This hotel needs some serious TLC. A do-over. Let's start with the outside-it looks like a bunker or maybe a funeral home. Certainly doesn't look like a hotel. In fact someone that was parking asked us if it was a hotel. Not very inviting for sure. The other issue was the free breakfast. Right off the bat there is no toaster. No way to toast a bagel or English muffin. We were told that it broke and another one was ordered. This was on Sunday. Still hadn't arrived by Tuesday... The poor woman that was running the breakfast area Sunday morning was overwhelmed with all the guests asking about the restocking the food. One waffle maker was out of service. My husband got some sausage and he said that it was ice cold. My oatmeal was cold. Cold oatmeal is not good. The lid for the oatmeal pot was broken. The last morning that we were there the woman running the breakfast spent her down time sitting at one of the tables nearby. The snack area was pretty empty. Maybe there were 5 little snacks on display and there weren't many beverages. It was never restocked while we were there. And if you are a light sleeper you might want to make sure you get a room at the front of the hotel because the back of the hotel faces 95 and there is loud traffic all night long. And the photo for this hotel shows some EV chargers. Didn't see those chargers. They could have been there but I just didn't see them. I am assuming that the hotel didn't want to use an actual photo of the hotel because it looks like a funeral home or bunker... So that sums up pretty much our stay at this place. read more

The only good thing about this place was the location and staff was nice, the room was so small, there was mold, things were broken and while we stayed there, there was several car break ins because of no cameras. Breakfast is okay unless they are serving bacon then it's not edible! Like beef jerky it's pretty bad! My husband was in a hurry to book something since this was an emergency but never again will we stay here! Oh the sharp metal hanging off the side of the AC unit was great also since I have children and my son cut his leg on this! read more

Hotel and rooms are a bit dated but fine, nothing broken or unclean. Staff was friendly. Elevator smelled strongly of cigarettes. Convenient location and a good price. Only reason I can't recommend them is my vehicle was broken into during my stay and when the cops came out they said it was a regular occurrence at this location and the third time it had happened that week (he showed me the pile of glass still in their parking lot from someone else's window who'd been broken into two nights in earlier) The officer said this place was a regular target because it's the only hotel in the area with no security cameras in their parking lot. He also said he thinks it's related to a homeless encampment in the nearby woods. It's not the hotel's fault that people are doing this but the fact they know it happens every other night and don't make any effort to keep their customers vehicles safe or even warn them that this happens regularly is ridiculous. It's not even like I have a nice vehicle, I drive a 20 year old beat up truck. Nothing of value was stolen but having to spend a few hundred dollars on a new window and drive 3 hours home in the cold without a window makes me wish I picked any of the other slightly more expensive hotels in the area. We booked a few rooms here for a weekend. Staff was friendly and the complimentary breakfast was adequate, but the stay was pretty meh. The free coffee/tea in the lobby is a nice perk, if you drink coffee/tea (I don't). The location was convenient for us (right off of I-95). The hotel is also across from a gas station (prices are high since it's right off the highway), and there's a small strip mall within walking distance (5-minute walk, but you have to cross the busy road and there isn't a direct sidewalk path). The strip mall has an Aldi where we stopped by for some snacks. There is a small snack shop in the hotel lobby that sells chips, candy, and drinks, but I didn't look at prices because I just assumed they have a high mark-up. We stayed in December and the lobby was nicely decorated with Christmas decor. They also have a self-serve computer and printer to make up their "business center," but the computer wasn't working. Fortunately, the front desk staff was able to assist with our printing needs. The fitness center had a treadmill, elliptical, workout bench, bicycle, Pilates ball, and weights. They also had towels and a water cooler (my favorite refill spot when traveling). Our room was not sparkling clean. The desk chair had several unpleasant stains and hairs on it, and the room had a slight smell to it (but the funky odor was not strong enough to make us request a different room). The room didn't have a traditional closet to hang coats, clothes, etc. Instead, it had a nook with some hooks to make a pseudo-closet. The bar of hand soap price provided was amiss... of the two boxes of soap provided (hand and body), the hand soap box was stained and discolored as if it had been stored improperly and something had spilled on it. The soap was melded to the cardboard box and paper was stuck to the bar... which is not pleasant since something to make you feel clean felt so dirty. As other Yelpers mentioned, the water pressure in the shower was weak. There were also large shampoo/conditioner bottles attached to the shower wall, but the pumps didn't work. Fortunately, they must be aware of the non-functioning pump bottles because they provided the small hotel bottles of shampoo and conditioner. Note that the community bottles attached to the wall aren't in lock boxes, so they could easily be tampered with... I'll stick with the mini shampoo bottles. The tv worked and we liked that it had premium channels such as HBO, but the tv picture in our room was slightly discolored (blue tint that couldn't be fixed with the tv settings). The beds (mattresses) were lumpy and the heating/cooling system didn't regulate well. It would constantly pump hot air and didn't seem to respond to the thermostat adjustments. The hotel seems in need of some updates. Breakfast was from 6-10am. They have plenty of seating. Selections were very basic, but what do you expect for free. They had one tray of scrambled (seemed like powdered) eggs and one tray of protein (one day was polish sausage and one day was Canadian bacon). They also had a DIY waffle station. I wish they had more accoutrements like cheese, salsa, whipped cream, chocolate chips, etc. There was also a bread station featuring bagels, English muffins, muffins, and white/wheat bread. They did have little packs of cream cheese, peanut butter, jellies, butter, and syrup. Packs of ketchup, hot sauce, salt, and pepper were located by the microwave, which also had a ice tray of Yoplait and Trix yogurt (I didn't realize they still made Trix yogurt) and a basket of apples. They had three cereal dispensers (Rice Krispies, Cheerios, and Froot Loops) with a pitcher of milk (unlabeled). Instant oatmeal packets were also available. They had a juice dispenser for orange juice, peach juice, apple juice, and water, but the juice flavor was very diluted. The staff was constantly checking and refilling the station. There was a steady flow of guests from 8-10am, and the staff did a group job of keeping things in stock. Despite the qualms, this hotel was "good enough" for our needs but it's definitely not the "oh, this is niiiice" hotel. read more

They hit your credit card for a $50 security deposit and never return it! They told me it takes 3-4 weeks to return the deposit. Every other Hilton property I have stayed at returns the deposit as soon as they process the check out. read more

The surrounding area is rather small and is pretty saturated with several Hilton properties (this is one of four Hampton Inns alongside three Garden Inns). Sadly all others fall short. Some VERY short... This location, however, is the only one that can boast the standards and accommodating staff I expect from anywhere bearing the Hilton name. Could not be more distraught at the absemce of any customer service by the alleged GM of the property, Mr. Daniel Griffin. Dude should be fired with his level of gross incompetence, not to mention threatening me and my family. He oversold and overbooked the room, and physically has multiple families assigned to the same room. I checked in on line, got the digital key using the app, and walk into what I've paid for as my room and someone's stuff is already in there... Then, when I bring this to his attention to provide another room, he gives me the shoulder-shrug-emoji and slides a post-it note across the counter with the Hilton Corporate number for me to solve the problem. It's HIS problem to solve! No remorse, no desire to make things right, just figure it out. And then says he's going to call the cops if I go back to MY room that I've booked, paid for, and already been in. Please fire this guy. read more

Having stayed at 100s of Hilton properties, I have never had such an awful experience. 1.    The Wi-Fi system lacks adequate signal penetration causing outages, dropped connections, and substantial guest dissatisfaction. The front desk staff offered no solution, but did acknowledge that access has been a recurring problem. These days, broadband access is an absolute necessity. This was not a brief glitch, but persisted throughout my two day stay. 2.    The water pressure was inadequate. The toilet took 5-8 minutes to fill after a flush. 3.    There are cigarette butts scattered throughout the front of the property, including a flower stand. 4.    Unlike every Hampton Inn I have visited, the breakfast options do not include oatmeal, defrosted fruit, and yogurt. 5.   The front desk staff had no interest or capacity to resolve any complaint and often were not on site. They do not seem to understand the Hilton 100% satisfaction commitment. 6.    When I conferred with the manager on duty, he refused to address the 100% satisfaction standard and suggested I "contact corporate" He had a rather unpleasant attitude. 7.     The outside sign for your property, viewable by the millions of travelers on Interstate 95, lacks full illumination. The failure to repair that sign represents the substantial lack of maintenance I experienced. read more

Pros We set up a room block for a group event and the Sales Manager Stu Shader was great. He was a real pleasure to deal with, always returned phone calls, answered e-mails promptly, fixed us up with a stellar $89 (plus $13.35 tax) rate which was made even better by the free conference room he threw in and the usual complimentary Hampton Inn breakfast buffet. The front desk staff (especially Jaime) was very friendly and pleasant. The hotel has a great location, literally at an I-95 off-ramp, with easy access to dozens of restaurants. The room size was fine, as were the mechanicals- heat, shower, flat-screen TVs, water pressure, free wifi -everything was fine. There are plenty of outlets to power up your phones, laptops, iPads, whatever. The breakfast buffet was fine and met the standards of what we expect at a Hampton Inn. Cons Our proximity to the highway did yield some traffic noise at night. There was a pretty large group of people that took over the lounge area (treating it as their private living room), as well as congregating outside to smoke. They didn't exactly make us feel welcome as we walked back and forth from the main door to our meeting rooms. Uncomfortable is the best word I can find. We did have ants in two locations- on the vanity to the right of the suite room sink and on our guest room floor between the vanity and the toilet. There were some people in my group that complained about the smell of guests smoking a variety of substances that affected the air quality in the hallways and their rooms. I'm really torn between 2 and 3 stars- but this is how I judge ratings. I consider 3 stars average, 2 stars below average and 4 stars above average. The creepiness factor of the group squatting in the lounge and staring at us whenever we walked by was pretty disconcerting and unfortunately tipped the scale toward an undeniably "below average" experience. read more

I rented 3 rooms at the Hampton Inn in Milford, Ct. for two nights in early July, 2024. The 5 adults in our party agreed that it was awful on every front. It's hard to believe that corporate Hampton allows this location to continue under its name. Additionally, we'd talked another family member into renting two rooms for their family, and they were appalled at the condition of the property and the terrible breakfast offerings. They are used to Hampton having oatmeal and bananas and clean rooms. Here's a short list of what we encountered: One of the rooms wasn't ready for 2 hours after check in time. All three rooms were musty. The room my husband and I were in had a large wet spot by the window/air conditioner. Other people commented on how bad the room smelled every time they came in. The other two rooms were no better. The coffee area had no hot water the first afternoon and night. When we asked the front desk person to take care of it, she was polite and smiled, but we never got hot water. The same was true for coffee the next night. The breakfast buffet has an awful selection. There was no oatmeal, no yogurt, and no fresh fruit. On the second morning, the regular coffee ran out and wasn't replenished. It's a danish, fake scrambled eggs, cold cereal table. There is one waffle maker. Places in the hotel were either humid and musty or too cold. They don't seem to have figured out the climate control system. It's kind of seedy and run down. Do not stay here under any circumstances. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. With six more miles of driving, you can be at a different/real Hampton in West Haven. It's a little pricier, but you won't leave with the bite marks my husband has on his shoulder and the side of his face. read more

Rooms are really small the bed wasn't the most comfortable and my remote didn't work had to get a new remote the water system must be going through because flushing the toilet was annoying and the water in the shower doesn't drain their are no microwaves in the room the fact that I had to warm food up inconveniently downstairs is ridiculous being the microwave wasn't clean then was told that the system was outdated so their was no way to get a digital key after my key stop working overall wasn't the best stay to have Hilton in the franchise name won't be staying here again and will be calling GM in the morning as a Hilton Honors Member very disappointed.. I have stayed here for 5 nights this is they worst Hampton Inn and suites!!! I am a Diamond member With Hiltons I stay in Hiltons and especially Hampton Inn and Suites because of the great Breakfast. I ask to have my room cleaned after 2 days I gave my required 24 hr notice also followed up with with the young lady working the front desk. We came back to our room and the key didn't work it took 20-30 minutes to maintenance to open the door and we got in the room was still not cleaned. I had to switch rooms because they wanted me to change my own sheets!! Next the breakfast was terrible, they only had waffles one day ran out, no ketchup, butter, milk, salsa, salt and pepper!!! Every day was eggs, dry cereal, muffins, sausage or bacon. They told me the items were not ordered or it want on the order. Excuse about the food, excuses about cleaning the rooms. This Hampton was pretty alright for Hampton standards. Usually they are real nice, but this one didn't have a pool, and the rooms were basin "Hampton" standard. The breakfast was good, and the staff was outstanding! My room was right next to the I 95, so I heard the traffic all night long. I am deducting a star for that. The first room we were assigned smelled terrible and had dirty towels and used soap on the sink. We immediately requested a new room. There was one left , we were told, so we took it. When we need a hotel we are always looking for free breakfast. Ha. It just makes things easier. The rooms are a little tight, but we never hang out in the room so it didn't bother us. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast bar was constantly being attended too. We stayed for two nights and the breakfast was hot and different. The first day they served eggs and sausage. They also had the usual setup with pastries, cereal, and a waffle machine. The next day they served bagel toppers with egg and potatoes. No complaints. They also had fresh smoothies. Can't go wrong. First night good. Second OK Third, got back from a long day & wife wanted a shower. We found ALL towels had been forgotten. Called front desk and I had to run down stairs, quite a distance, to get replacements. Brought them back to the room to find STILL NO wash cloths... Went BACK down to the desk & requested them, and thought I was now getting was cloths but, no, was given bath MATS instead! Wife went third time to the desk and, she TOO, was given yet another bath mat instead of wash cloths. Not the first Hampton we have stayed at, but, this got to be a rather silly screw up multiple times & my patience was tested. Not impressed with the late night desk attendant at THIS Hampton. I was not expecting much staff is friendly and helpful, but I had two rooms both had mold growing in walls in between bathroom and room by door, clearly evident growing around light switch in both rooms. Had to cancel stay and change hotels due to my allergies to mold. Attached is picture of mold growth after 24 hours in new room, clearly a known issue as it was cleaned off and appears to have been painted over at some point. this hotel needs to lose its flag. read more

Amazing coffee, and great variety of cold and warm breakfast choices. During our stay we saw other workers that were friendly. At check out we met Elias who was friendly as well. We ended up going to the Hilton Garden Inn in Milford, which was fantastic. This Hampton Inn should be condemned and a memorial put in it's place for the patrons who stayed a night in this hotel of hell. Bad enough we were up for my sister's funeral. My words cannot describe this place. Dirty, cob webs, smelly elevators, rusted bathrooms, dirty toilet, stains on bed and carpets that have not seen a vacuum in months. This is a very clean Hampton Inn with ample parking spaces. Service at the front desk was excellent. The room was promptly changed when it was discovered that it had no hot water. The rooms themselves are pretty clean and functional. The only thing was that the "closet" is next to the window behind a curtain. Let me start by saying we arrived very late and lucky had the key on the app to get into our room. Unfortunately, that and the beds being very comfortable are the only good things we can say about the hotel. When we opened the door to the room it smelled like rotten eggs. The carpet was awful. The next day we asked to have our room changed. The front desk was accommodating without a smile, very no nonsense position. Elevator ride smelled as carpet is very old. Second room smelled better but everything needs a update. Old carpet, bring slippers, shower backs up and does not drain so you shower and the dirty water sits on your feet and lamp shade is white with dirt all over. Finally, breakfast was awful the two days we ventured downstairs. Old bagels, powered eggs, no waffle mix, no spread for the bagels, two options of cereal and coffee tasted burned. Not worth the money. Choose another Hampton. We're Diamond members and we're very disappointed. read more

I'd love to give this Hampton Inn a 5 star rating because the people who work there have earned 5 stars easily! When we arrived the front desk ladies were dealing with an impossible client. They were being jerks & for some reason they think they're entitled to treat people like doo-doo. Denise and Jade didn't fall for it, acknowledging us politely while paying full attention to the jerks at hand. I wanted to show them the elevator shaft. When the Jerkowskis were made happy Denise and Jade made us feel like welcomed guests. I can't say enough about how well they maintained their composure and professional, polite mannerisms in the face of adversity! I hope a CEO/CFO or owner reads this. Every staff member I came in contact with was uber professional and treated us like very valued guests! The rooms and the missing star: The rooms were spotless and decently appointed with exceptions to the lack of a small fridge and microwave. I can't recall ever staying in a Hampton Inn where there was no fridge and microwave. The only other issue is the noise from the adjacent freeway. The rooms are a bit smallest than other Hampton Inns we've been too. That aside, the rooms were very adequate with a very comfortable bed, coffee maker, ironing board and iron. Nice Vizzio io TV with a big selection of channels (but nothing I liked which is everywhere & not their fault). The linens were clean and fresh including the bedspread. The bath towels were big soft and fluffy instead of the micro towels some hotels use. You know the ones I'm talking about the ones that are so small you wind up drying off with a bed sheet. Not here though, this hotel offers a terrific value and quality! The breakfast selection was pretty good. They had the standard fare but the fresh fruit was really really great! There's plenty of cereals, waffles, pastries and the like, it'd be hard to not be able to find something you like. The coffee was better than most hotels and it seems that some is always available. There's also shopping nearby, we headed to Wines and More for some in room adult beverages, but there's also grocery stores and convenience stores in walking distance. I really wish I could give that 5th star especially for Denise and Jade, but the unexpected lack of accoutrements usually found at Hampton dashed it. I will come back, I'll just have to bring a cooler! read more

My wife and I booked a block of rooms for family and friends, for our wedding in New Haven. Our interactions with the staff and manager, Stu, were among the best that we have had in any professional relationship. We wanted a tea ceremony, and the staff was kind enough not just to let us use the multi-purpose room they have (at no cost), but also to ask the church group that normally meets there if they could push back their scheduled Sunday Study. I am going to Hell for that. They opened up new rooms for us when the block filled up. They comp'ed rooms for me (being the groom), and for my wife's parents. The staff helped us to store food in their fridges, and helped with set-up and clean-up around the tea ceremony. Stu was in close communication with us the entire time, even in the wee hours of the night he responded to our silly requests, and it was obvious that he cared about our needs and wants during this process. Rooms were clean, neat, and got the job done. No complaints on that front. The next time I am hosting an event anywhere in CT, I will book rooms at this hotel, and I encourage others to do the same. read more

They said that would not be a problem and that our room would be held for us. When we arrived at 10:45 pm, we were dismayed to learn that they'd rented our room to someone else, and all they had was a room with a single (yes, single) bed. There was no manager on duty to complain to. When I complained to staff and management the next day, I was told that it is Hampton Inn policy to overbook, and they were surprised this had not happened to us before. We stayed here while in CT for my son's hockey tournament. The staff was very attentive and pleasant. We were not able to be there to check my son in that night he arrived and the GM worked with me to arrange for him to check in with a credit card authorization and another adult. Very helpful. There is a complimentary breakfast, but the eating area is small and get very congested. The rooms were OK, nothing spectacular, but it was clean and everything was in working order. It did have a slight odor to it...although it could have been my son's hockey gear that he laid out to dry. read more
