    Black mold in the rooms

BLACK MOLD in the room. We had terrible headaches for days after and when we reported it to the hotel they didn't even send someone up to look at it. They also claimed we didn't report it when we checked out but we had multiple conversations about it

    Buffet breakfast included

We stayed at the Hampton Inn in Old Bridge for most of the week beginning January 30, 2024. It's the only hotel in the vicinity and it's on the new side. I had made our reservation on line but called to make sure we would have a handicapped accessible room. They assured me that we would. We also paid ahead . When we arrived, everything was ready for us. Unfortunately we soon realized that all the accessible rooms were at the end of each floor- a lot of walking or wheelchair pushing on carpet. I had hoped the room would be next to the elevator. That was a major disappointment. Also the rooms are cleaned every other day. This is not a timeshare so I feel that is not fair. They are blaming this on Covid when guests didn't want the cleaning people to invade their space. "Isn't the idea to keep the room as clean as possible?" Well, when does that policy end? We all know it's about the $. Also, no water in the room? If you ask for water, it's $2/bottle. I didn't know you can fill your own bottles up with their filtered water from the water fountain. On a good note, they offer a hot complimentary buffet breakfast and coffee all day long with a basket of various fruit to choose from in the lobby. Not bad! So I definitely feel there should be some changes but all in all, we made it work. This review is to make future patrons aware of what to expect.

    Meaningless guarantee

We stayed overnight but didn't get any sleep due to the party that was going on in the room near us. The noise was so loud that you could hear what they were saying. We finally called the front desk at 1:30AM and asked them to address the issue. After banging on the door several times she asked them to move the party to the lobby to no avail. The party continued until 3:00AM. After finally speaking with the manager, Annie Chen we were told that "they had ear plugs at the front desk". She did not sympathize with my complaint in the least bit. Completely unprofessional in my opinion and not a good representative of the brand. Their satisfaction guarantee is meaningless. I paid for a service (a room to sleep in) which they did not provide. Never again will we stay there.

Do. Not. Stay. Found this in our bed!

My family's stay at the Hampton Inn in Old Bridge, NJ, was a disaster from start to finish. The room phone in one room was completely inoperable, making it impossible to contact the front desk without physically going downstairs for every issue. The staff was unfriendly and rude when we requested basic things like extra linens and hand soap, which we had to fetch ourselves. To top it off, we woke up with bugs in one of the beds, which they brushed off as a minor issue. LITERAL BUGS IN THE BED. Then, when we switched rooms we were called at 10:17 AM to stop our conversations because our neighbor "had a long night," which is absurd as it is, but especially considering quiet hours ending at 7 AM. This hotel clearly doesn't value its guests. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere.

Most terrible guest service experience I've ever encountered, both at the hotel and corporate levels, and over a lousy $50.

If no one is allowed to use the business center I don't understand why it's open. This was unacceptable for me.

Since we had parked right next to The Standard, we chose to give it a try for lunch--and it was the best decision we've made in a long time. The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas, creating such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant itself was just as lovely. We were a party of five, including a 14-month-old baby, and our waitress could not have been more accommodating. Another great convenience is that the hotel also has parking available in the back. I only wish I had taken photos! We started with appetizers--crispy calamari, mussels, and chicken wing lollipops. For our entrées, we ordered the French Dip sandwich, the Carnegie Reuben, and two Standard burgers. We also asked for a kids' pasta. Expecting the usual penne, we were surprised when angel-hair pasta arrived. Our little girl had never tried it before, so we requested a substitution. Although our waitress explained that angel hair was the only pasta they typically have, she returned moments later to let us know the chef was going to get penne just for us. That level of service truly stood out. The food was amazing, and the service was exceptional. We enjoyed our visit so much that we are even considering hosting a family wedding and a baptism here. Highly recommend The Standard American Hotel!

Unfortunately, he had a mess up where he told us something was gluten-free and when we double checked with someone else, we found out that it was not. Thankfully, the other man who was working at the bar advised us and told us that the kitchen would make the meal Gluten-free for us, which was awesome. We really liked it. Also got a wedge salad with steak which was really good. I'm so glad we clarified things because it could've been a real health issue if we didn't. I think the server needs to be l educated on the severity of allergies and to ask instead of assuming if he isn't sure. We also ordered an apple pie and asked for iced cream on the side and it came out on top. There was also so much liquid floating around in the dessert. We didn't even ask to send it back because it was already a tense interaction with him as he just seemed annoyed our entire time there. Barely ate the dessert and when I had mentioned to him that we asked for the ice cream on the side I don't think he understood and asked if I wanted a box to take it home but I just said no. I just barely ate it and took it as a $14 loss. We were going to get one more drink because we were enjoying being outside even though the service wasn't that great, but the server ended up l bringing us the check, which we hadn't asked for yet so we took it as a sign to just go. I think we just got stuck with someone who did not like his job and was unhappy he was there and unfortunately it did taint our experience. Would potentially go back if we notice someone else working outside.

It was extremely organized, and everyone could social distance and walk around. I brought my own folding chairs and a blanket for later in the evening when it got cold. The Old Bridge Elks is large, so there was plenty of room for the beer truck, make shift bar, food trucks, and memorabilia tents. There is also a covered pavillion with picnic style tables and benches , some under the pavilion and some outside in the open. The stage was large, upfront and center. All the staff including security guards were really nice. They all had masks on. I saw friends and people I haven't seen in almost a year. The music industry has been hurting some due to the pandemic. A lot of bands haven't been able to play in quite some time, so this was a nice change. The people were interesting, some still living in the past with their acid wash jeans, and mullet haircuts, a throw back to the 70's. The first band up was called Betty Ford Falcons. They were good and got the crowd going. The second band up was my friends from Gotham. Mark Tornillo, Scott Metaxas, Paul Crook, and Craig Scoppa. They sang a good mix of heavy metal and the audience loved them. The 3rd and last band up was a Black Sabbath coverband called Black Reign. They were so good. If I closed my eyes I thought I was listening to the real thing. There were many guitar solos, and all the bands gave 110% for this great cause. The staff were all very friendly, and it was a warm beautiful day which made this years event even better

Had…read moremade the reservation on line months ago and the good thing was you didn't have to give a credit card beforehand to reserve the room and it was cancellable up until a few hours before if necessary. We arrived at around 11:00 pm and the front desk person pretty much said my name as I walked toward the desk - guess they weren't getting many late check-ins that evening. I had a hard time understanding this person and had to keep saying "I can't understand you" and it sounded like he was saying "through the lobby" to get to my room which made no sense since all of the rooms were accessed from the outside. So he booked me and my friend in a first floor room and when we went to the room there was no way to insert or swipe the key. My friend looked inside the keyhole and noticed the room was under construction. We went back to the desk and told the desk person - he walked with us to the room and we gave him the key to which he was confused and my friend said "look inside the key hole" and he did and then realized it was an unfinished room. We then walked back to the front desk and he gave us keys for another first floor room. We entered the room and saw that it was quite outdated. There was a loud buzzing from either the microwave or the refrigerator. The air conditioning worked fine, the room was fairly clean, the beds were clean and comfortable and the TV had many channels to choose from. They provided a very small bottle of shampoo, a small bar of soap and just enough towels. The bathroom door was swollen and it was hard to close. In the morning we did not bother to check out the complimentary breakfast but rather walked to the adjacent IHOP which was only steps away. Not the worst room I've stayed in but the whole location could do with some major renovations.
