I am looking at this from the point of view of a Hampton Inn and hotels in this genre. This is not going to compare to the William Penn Omni in downtown Pittsburgh or any high priced high expectation hotel. Upon checking in, the staff was friendly, eager to speak and to offer suggestions and advice. The hotel room was good clean well lit in the hallways were just as clean and well lit. We normally do not stay in this hotel because there's a hotel closer to where I need to be, but this was a good alternative. read more

We've stayed in dozens of Hampton and Hilton locations. While we would stay here again if we needed to, this location rates toward the bottom. We stayed in an ADA accessible room because it was the only room available after the hotel overbooked. The room was clean, though the engineering of the ADA compliant bathroom left a lot to be desired because the water ran out of the shower, past the floor drain, and out the bathroom door. We had to put down a rolled up towel as a water catcher in the floor. The elevators only partially worked. 1 out of 2 of the elevators had a broken #1 button, meaning you could only get to the first floor via elevator on one of the two elevators, causing a constant "traffic jam" at the elevators. The morning breakfast rated less than average. It was meagerly stocked, had 1 protein options, and 0 fruit options. Possibly the toughest part of this location is parking. There is very little parking here. With that said... the room was clean and bed comfortable. The location is convenient in Monroeville. We would stay here again if we had to, but would seek other options first. read more

We recently stayed here for a little league baseball tournament. To say the hotel was not prepared would be an understatement... -Check In took forever with many rooms in our group not ready at 3pm. -Everyone in our group (11 families) requested two queen or king beds. All but one received a room with a king bed and a pull out sofa. The mattress for the pull out was from approximately 1972. One family in our group found fairly fresh urine stains when they opened their pull out. -When we arrived in the room there were only two sets of towels for our group of four. When we asked for more we were told there were no more. No apologies were given. -We asked four times for turndown service for our room. On day three of our stay they finally came. They only swapped out our old towels for two new ones (we asked for four), no new washcloths. And our garbages, which were overflowing, were never changed. -The sliding doors would not stay closed for the duration of the shower. They would just magically slide open. This happened to several families in our group. -Overall the staff was very dismissive of any requests. -We have asked the ACB Tournament not to include this hotel next year! read more

We love this hotel! It was a mother/daughter business/pleasure trip. Location is perfect to local eateries. We had a check-in glitch which the staff and management were patient and kind and worked it out beyond our satisfaction. The hotel greets you with friendliness and professionalism and even had the lobby decorated for the upcoming Valentine's Day which was a fun backdrop for pics. Love the high ceilings in the lobby are, the gathering area and of course the wonderful hot breakfast which thankfully opened at 6 am. Fresh fruit and hot hot entree breakfast choices. Oh, coffee avail in the lobby 24/7. And a marketplace with varied snacks, essentials and a nice selection of adult refreshments too. The room was huge and sparkling clean with every amenity. Housekeeping was excellent if you needed anything. A shoutout to Nate, Tyler, Cheyenne, Jennifer and Amanda for making our stay amazing and a home away from home. We stayed an extra night due to inclement weather thanks to them! Cannot wait to return! Highly recommend. You will thank us. A little treasure outside Cleveland. read more

This place has sadly gone downhill. We stayed here a few years ago and it was well taken care of. I feel like it may have different management or something? Pros: -breakfast was okay (buffet, decent options: mini omelettes, waffle maker, juices, bagels, toast, sausage, cereal & yogurt) -bathrooms were in good condition -our room keys were via app this time (made it easier) Cons: -pool was a hot mess (dirty and old) -bedroom had dirt/dust in the corners -one bed had a stain on the skirt -floors (in general) just seemed really dirty -front desk lady seemed scatterbrained and not fully focused on people checking in -parking lot is super crammed (not a big deal, but definitely hard to park/pull out of) -walls are paper thin (you can hear EVERYTHING) Overall, just not a great experience. On the one night we stayed there the toilet in the room wouldn't stop running and I had to fix it as there were no maintenance staff on site. The false fire alarm at 1:20am that lasted for 25 minutes because someone had to come in to fix it was an added bonus. Run away as fast as you can. read more

I came to this location for my weekend stay because my daughter had a martial arts tournament as well as many of the other parents did as well. However I got there about 730pm for the power to be off. Fire dept was sent away because maintenance was coming. The manager refused to come in and help the lady behind the counter. It wasnt her fault. Some of the toilets werent flushing and people just being disruptive. Our kids needed to rest. The lady had not 1 amswer for us because she had no clue. ​the hotel will not compensate anything. It was about 6 hrs before the power came back on. No other hotel had available rooms ornate Otherwise many of us would have left. Next year they will not get any of my money and I'm pretty sure some of the other parents feel the same. This hotel has seen better days. They put some fresh paint and decor on some areas. But as soon as you enter the elevator you know it's been neglected. The room smelled like mildew. The mattress was worn and cheap. The room had little ventilation. The fitness center was closed, marked by haphazard caution tape. Im not sure how many stars to give this hotel. I have stayed here in the past but obviously a long time ago as the hotel rooms have changed. The furniture in our room was old and everything was sticky, probably from years of furniture polish. The beds are soft and the mattresses seemed old and saggy. The bathrooms have been updated and that's always a plus. The main gripe I have was what they served for breakfast. They did have the usual cold cereal, juice, coffee, bagels and bread to toast , although the toaster could be replaced. But the hot part of the meal was scrambled eggs, serving size all the same which means frozen I'm guessing, and sausage and some kind of bagel with unidentifiable topping which was steaming in the steamer with the eggs and sausage. So we ended up going out for breakfast which was an added expense to our trip. We had to pay an additional charge for our dog to stay in our room. Some hotels don't charge for bringing your animal with you. Next time I stay in Pittsburgh I will look a little closer in what's available! read more

Pros - it's close to shops and restaurants. The hotel room was stocked was well stocked the first time There was a full and delicious continental breakfast Cons- My sheets had stains on them. The remote was missing from the room. the majority of staff at this hotel were some of the rudest and most unprofessional hotel staff I've interacted with , especially regarding Hilton . Every interaction I had with them with exception of two occasions was foul . Constant rolling their eyes, sucking their teeth , scowling and looking me up and down at every opportunity, it felt like an attempt to intimidate me. When checking in, the woman that was helping the other woman was incredibly rude to us and the young lady checking us in. I guess they have laid back approach because you wouldn't know they were an employees of the hotel if they weren't behind the desk. I can only presume to think they thought they knew me in another life, as when I needed a new key or anything they spoke in a tone that can only be described like " What do you want?! " it made me feel uncomfortable and tense up at the thought of having to walk past the desk. This was my first time being in Pittsburgh and I will be making other accommodations if I ever have to return. I'm not a difficult guest, I don't judge harshly as I have worked in service for several years but customer service training and professionalism should be addressed in the next staff meeting. read more

Stayed here on a weekend to town for a convention. Octavia checked us in and was possibly one of the best front desk attendants I've experienced (Octavia) who was very helpful and giving us the lay of the land explaining how outback delivers and max and ermas gives a discount. They were in the middle of a remodel on the outside and I truly hope that is the same for the inside as our bathroom had peeling wallpaper near the vent and really showed a lot of wear. The breakfast area was probably the most packed I have ever witnessed as a Hilton Honors member - with one morning it being egg coins and sausage coins, the other powder eggs and the usual waffle. Had Vog not made an in-road with a family and done some networking we probably would have ate in the room. Nothing the hotel could help - it gets busy. Free is free. Would return to the area. So far No good. Front desk lady gives me a key to someone else's room when I check in - Thank God they had the door catch on! Then the keys didn't work on the correct room 2 more times. Rectified with a small bag of Swedish Fish. Today there are junior hockey teams playing in the hallway and slamming my door with the ball. Their team name is the "Little Shits". Someone came up and told them to stop which worked for 10 minutes. Turns out the Little Shits parents are part of the "DoucheBag Alliance" where kids can yell & scream wherever they want because they're not just parents, they're "Friends" gives me a warm feeling in my stomach- made I need to use the restroom. Apparently it's part of the Hilton motto for the DBag Alliance to have load meetings in the hallway in front of their rooms. They don't want to wake up the blankets with their LOUD VOICES. Nice looking place - horrible management. A match made in Hell. That old Pittsburgh charm. read more

Extremely clean builing, easy on/off access to 22. Jasmine warmly greeted us at check-in and throughout our stay. Clear signage. Breakfast baggie available 6 to 9 am. We chose from packed hard boiled eggs, bagels, toast, cereal, granola bars, jelly, cream cheese, butter, tea, coffee, and bottled water. Our room was a spotless king suite complete with king bed, sofa, desk, desk chair, tray table, and rolling cube ottomans. The bed was very comfortable. The flat screen television was the ideal size for viewing from bed and sofa. Our shower was nonslip surface and easy in/out. This facility adjoins Outback Steakhouse and close to Max and Erma's restaurant. There are many businesses nearby. We stayed on the 9th floor near the elevator and had no intrusion from elevator or highway. The indoor pool was open with limited access via designated times to restrict numbers. Last week I took a digital marketing business trip to Pittsburgh/Wexford Pennsylvania and stayed at the Hampton Inn. My business team booked the hotel so I did not make the choice of staying here for the night I was there. The hotel is about 40 minutes away from the airport which is pretty far. There is only one entrance to enter the hotel parking lot which was difficult and it is right off an highway so don't take the wrong turn when getting here. The hotel is accompanied by an OutbackSteakhouse which is convenient for food and drinks. The inside of the hotel decor and age was average. You could tell it hasn't been renovated in quite some time. The room was decent from what I noticed was clean. Free WiFi was nice to do business work in my laptop. The tub in the shower felt kind of strange on the bottom of my feet, could of been old paint coming off. It wasn't to pleasant seeing the sink being plugged (you can see in picture). Late at night around 11pm midnight I wanted a late night alcohol beverage and the hotel didn't have any and Outback Steakhouse was closed. I searched on google maps for a near by bar and majority were closed or not walking distance. In the morning there was complimentary breakfast from 5am-10am and it was pretty good with a variety of things to eat from waffles, eggs, sausage, toast, pastries, cereal and more. (See picture for what I ate) Overall this was for sure a 3 star hotel. The employees I interacted with were friendly. If I had another business trip in Pittsburgh I would most likely look for a different hotel. read more

I was very thankful for the accommodations and the Outback that is in the same lot as the hotel; however, the walls are paper-thin. I think the issue may have been the fact that my room was the "adjoining room" to the next room over. I am not sure, but I likely won't be staying at this location again due to the lack of soundproofing from room to room. The staff and rooms were great, but when it was like a frat party each night and I needed to be up at 5am each morning, it wasn't very pleasant. read more

Not a bad room but pricey for a weekend stay. Major concern with the cleanliness of the room. No soap when we checked in. Housekeeping did not clean the sinks, toilets, or vacuum on the "day" we got housekeeping (You are discouraged from having housekeeping come daily). When I went to ask for a redo I had to stand in line behind others who also did not get a clean room. Nothing could be done because housekeeping had left for the day. I have very little confidence they did any better cleaning the rooms between guests. A lesser, but still annoying, issue is that the bathroom had no fan. Mirrors stayed steamy and the bathrooms always smelled musty. Front desk staff was great though. read more

We came in here for a visit to a nearby temple, and decided to stay here. I definitely liked this place a lot. The room was clean, bathroom well stocked and close to everything. The breakfast was worth waking up for. It is not like other places, where all they have is some packaged muffins and cereal. It is full hot(not all things), including waffles fresh off the iron. The popcorn at the front desk was a good and yummy snack. I definitely will be staying here again, when I am back in the area. read more

we checked in on Tuesday night around 9 pm . we had ask for a room facing the hospital. when we entered the room the bathroom floor had towels on it, someones toothbrush was on sink, the first bed wasn't made and trash was in the basket. we went downstairs to complain the manager on duty said housekeeping had marked clean. we were told he left a message for the day shift and we would be compensated. In the morning when we went down we were told we had a room and she didn't read any message left by night staff. we were told since room was booked by points NO compensation was due. Who goes to Pennsylvania in the middle of winter? I was searching for a Sheraton, a W, a Westin, anything in the Starwood Network. No suck luck, and if you stay in Downtown 'burgh, you can find all kinda chains all kinda where. The purpose of my visit took me away from downtown, and on the other side of the tunnel. Relevance? The tunnel is a traffic causing nightmare. Although I wanted to be where the action was, I didn't want to be stuck in that horrible car mess. Although I wanted to stay with my colleague at the Courtyard , my travel agent booked me at the Hampton Inn. So glad it worked out this way. Here's what you need to know: Service is 5 stars hands down. Friendly friendly people, let me tell you. From the moment I walked in the door, I was greeted with a smile. Breakfast staff was helpful and willing to help me pack lunches and dinner SOS meals. Maybe it was me and my "I love the snow" talk, but everyone was great. Accommodations, yah more like 3 stars. The heater/AC unit is one of those "in the wall" types. The cold kept sneaking into my room, but I left the heater on all night long. After the second night, I got used to it. The bed was a little lumpy and soft, but it did the trick. No fridge in the room, and no fancy TV's. Gym and indoor pool are perfect for those crazies like me that workout on travel. Free Internet in the hotel, and a PC and printer in the lobby. Food: 3 Stars. They serve free continental breakfast, but that's it. Free Coffee and Tea 24/7 in the lobby, but that's it. The participating restaurant attached to the hotel is Outback and they provide room service to the hotel. This is awesome, but closed after 10PM. The breakfast nook was comfy and awesome. I loved the fireplace in the lobby. Wished I could have enjoyed cocoa by the fireplace, but a girls gotta work. Overall, this is one of the nicer hotels in Monroeville. If nothing else, enjoy the great service and great location. read more

Ive stayed here several nights and nothing is here to suggest that there is anything wrong with the place as some reviewers suggest. May I suggest that that too many people want something for nothing ? Are cheap & dont want to pay for services. Anyway, hotel is fine, service is good. Nothing special, no bedbugs, clean sheets. Morning breakfast is decent. So Id say slightly above avg. the pool was being repaired when I was here so I imagine some were inconvenienced but thats life. I have stayed in plenty of Hamptons and have had pretty good luck, including some I was very impressed with. This, alas, was not one of those visits. Our stay here on the way to somewhere else, was lousy enough to make me cancel our reservations for the way back and book somewhere else. The lobby is nicely updated, although set up a bit oddly. The hot breakfast was good. That's where the positive experience ended. The route to get into the lot is too much for GPS, and makes little sense until I remembered how Pittsburgh is set up for driving (where nothing makes sense and there are no straight roads). Being attached to an Outback Steakhouse makes parking very hard if you arrive later in the day. Getting out isn't much easier, pulling out of a narrow driveway into the busy road. Our floor smelled like old socks when we got off the elevator, and the only real update in the room was the bathroom vanity and the TV. The tub was old and there was no fridge, a rarity in a Hampton. The bed was the breaking point - the duvet was very lumpy and the mattress was unquestionably the worst I've ever tried to sleep on. A board or stack of bricks would have been more comfortable and made less noise. It was hard as a rock and the metal riser squeaked and squealed every time I moved an inch. That, added to the constant loud road noise (we were on the freeway entrance side, but the road on the other side is probably nearly as bad), made for a restless night. I would not ever stay here again. There are too many other options nearby, and they have to be better than this. read more

Hampton Inns tend to be cookie cutter hotels and this one is okay, but nothing special. This property is a bit older than some with an updated lobby area. With low ceilings, the lobby didn't feel particularly inviting. The rooms are fine. I wish that the windows were larger and the a/c less noisy. The hotel had plenty of hot water and everything was clean. The beds at this, and other Hampton Inns, are not my favorites - generally too soft for my liking and the pillows are small without much substance. The free breakfast is okay but nothing special and the coffee isn't that great. It's certainly adequate but we ended up making a stop for better java. read more

Ohhhh Hampton Inn!!!! What has happened to your fine reputation?! I will admit that I haven't been to this area for a few years but have stayed in this location and loved it. This time however, I get into my room, completely unpacked and got myself situated and realize that there was no shampoo left for me. No big deal... I went down to the front desk and was given two for my stay. While I was down there, a gentleman walked up to the desk and was very upset saying that his toilet would not flush. Therefore, I go back up to my room and decide I better check mine out and lo and behold, I flushed it and the damn thing overflowed! I called down to the front desk and was abruptly told to pack my stuff and they would send me to another room. And then they hung up. So I got my stuff together which of course I wasn't happy about because I had just unpacked and got everything situated. The guy from the front desk came up practically through the key cards at me and said your new room number is xxx and then probably walked away! So I finally get to the other room which is just a few doors down from where I was staying and I go in and it looks like somebody made the bed in about 2 minutes because things were not tucked in and it did not look fresh. In addition, there's Grease on the carpet and some dirt in front of the sofa as well as in the closet! I am shocked at this and I tried to call down to the front desk three times! No one picked up my call. I think I'll be looking for another place to stay the next time I come to the area which is sad because I truly love Hampton Inn but this is absolutely not to what I believe their expectations have always been. read more
