There were dirty corners in the shower and I was really disappointed that my sink was clogged up with someone's hair in it! Yikes! For those that are elite members, I think you'd be pretty disappointed with the quality of rooms you'll get here. The walls are super thin too. Someone's phone can ring or vibrate at 5 am in the morning and you can hear them answer calls through the walla of your room. Stay away. I've stayed at this Hampton Inn a lot this year. 5 separate stays. It is a convenient 4-minute drive to VCA Northwest Veterinary Specialists in Clackamas in Oregon and pet-friendly. When you're at VCA, you'll recognize a few of your fellow hotel guests who have also brought their pets here for care. The hotel is clean and everything is in good working order. They give you plenty of towels (I hate when hotels are stingy with towels!) and the shower feels great. The free breakfast is solid (can't go wrong with a waffle maker, am I right?) and the wifi is fast. The rooms are quiet; I could barely hear my neighbor, although the night we stayed near the ice machine, I could hear that! The staff is friendly. Special shout out to German, the nicest front desk guy/manager! Coffee and water is available in the lobby 24/7, and of course the real treat is the chocolate chip cookies so don't forget to grab some at check-in. They have drinks and snacks available for purchase in the lobby area. Every room had a mini-fridge which worked great. The rooms also have coffee makers that we never tried since it was easier to get coffee in the lobby. The gym is decent. If you're a real gym rat, you may be disappointed, but if you're ok with a treadmill and a few dumbbells, you'll be fine. I never made it into the whirlpool. The beds could be a little more comfortable (every week I said "next week I'm bringing my own pillow!" but I forgot) and the air conditioners could be a little better. I felt a little warm all night even at the lowest setting and the rooms just smelled like they could use some fresh air. We didn't really open the window because we were on the ground floor (the window was right at ground level) which is convenient for taking our dog out. Maybe a higher floor would be better for fresh air or leaving your window open. By week 2, I remembered to bring my own fan at least. There is plenty of free parking and a little designated dog spot near the lot too. Pro tips: Sign up for free to be a Hilton Honors member and download the app. You can pick your room on the app, check in, and get a "digital key." Ask at the front desk, they can give you a $10 GrubHub coupon + free delivery, it works even if you've used GrubHub before. read more

It's mediocre and kind of dirty. We had an event and booked 5 rooms. (Two queen size doubles) The bed was super soft and hurt my back and when I requested extra linens/comforter, the front desk had me walk to the laundry room to get it myself and I assembled the duvet myself as well which took a while because it wasn't like a normal duvet cover. The cover actually only covers 2/3 of the actual duvet. It was super confusing. Normally hospitality would come to your room with a blanket. I wasn't impressed and the hotel room was just average. It wasn't super clean or super dirty. I still would wear slippers and don't trust the cleanliness of the carpet though. Breakfast was also mediocre. Tasted like fake eggs and frozen sausages. Even though the hotel is old and the rooms are small it has a lot of potential. Unfortunately, there is something very lacking in their maintenance. I checked in online for 2 days. It was centrally located and I really needed a nice evening of watching tv and relaxing. Unfortunately, the bathroom sink was completely plugged, and the television had a major issue. Both things had to be obvious before I checked in. Especially the sink. I called the front desk and they apologized and said the maintenance person would be in at 6:00 in the morning and would come straight to my room. Foolishly I believed them. No one showed up. Now I am told that they come to work at 8:00. I am just checking out and will get a different hotel tonight. read more

We came for a family emergency trip, and stayed here for 2 nights, didn't interact with the staff much. They minded their own business and so did we. I must note that this place does not have a pool, strange for someone who is from Ca. The gym is small, with limited machine, but if you just need the basics such as a treadmill, it's available. Our room came with a fridge and a fridge, which is a plus. Parking space is limited, but it doesn't get busy enough to have to fight over any. However, I must say the highlight would be their buffet breakfast and unlimited coffee and water/tea station throughout the day. Buffet food were kept in warmers, and was replenished periodically. I believe it cost $10/person. The kitchen staff was friendly. Snd, there is a MCD in the same place in case you may want a quick to go meal. read more

Never gotten one before at any of my other Hilton stays lol. Breakfast was pretty standard with plenty of options. Plus for the crispy bacon and waffle machine. The only 2 things to note were: 1. The staff here is wonderful ! Was in the area for a wedding, the location is close to the Abernathy Center. It's an older building and could use a remodel likely , showing some signs of age. But what is there is kept up. People working all around constantly. Keeping it clean and orderly. They are very nice putting a small rack by the counter so you can grab a complimentary bottle of water going in and/or out. Lovely cookies packed for grabbing too. The hotel shows obvious signs of wear and tear and that at some point smoking was allowed. The smell is a bit overwhelming - a mix of old mildew and old smoke. I didn't feel like it was very clean and was afraid to set my stuff anywhere in the room. As a plus size traveler I do not recommend this hotel because of the bathroom - the shower is extremely tight due to the bar and enclosure of the shower. Felt claustrophobic and you couldn't really move around. The bed was horrible. The furniture was okay but the rooms feel very small. I cannot comment on the breakfast as I didn't visit it but my husband did say it had a nice selection. It worked for the night but wouldn't stay here again. read more

Had a great time here. The staff is exceptional, especially Herman! We had a dog room so not expecting more than dog room. The breakfast was great so add some money from your budget for that. We walked the Chevron for treats and Uber Eats will bring you whatever your heart desires. The coffee never runs out, free bottled water, cookies , fruit 24:7. With a normal noon check out- you win my heart (for those of you that beg for that extra hour). I wouldn't trade this for a snobby DT hotel that you have to pay for your coffee and they put a scale in your bathroom. read more

From day one of our stay, he was so hospitable, kind to my wife, kids, and I, and went out of his way to ensure our visit was as best as it could be. The staff checked in via letters and texts to request any feedback that can make the stay more memorable. The staff here is amazing, professional, and very friendly. Also: Free WiFi. Free breakfast and sometimes dinner, which is great. Gym has decent equipment. Generous amount of parking. And the beds are very comfy. Even though we had a terrible neighbor that rudely complained about our kids via a sticky note on our door. The staff gave them a room change, apologized to us for the neighbors' actions, and gave us gifts for the incident. 10 out of 10, would visit again. I have stayed at a lot of hotels. This is my favorite in the whole world. The staff here is unlike any I have ever met. They always go above and beyond to make sure that I am happy and comfortable. If you are ever not happy with something or have a comment bring it to their attention and they are right on top of it. I had thought this kind of customer service was dead in this country. First business trip out to Portland and my first stay here. I am a regular on the Hampton Inn circuit for business travel so I figured this was a good choice. First, the entire hotel has seemed to have completed a full remodel which is very nice. Talking to the front desk attendant I heard there is even more coming so I'm thinking this will be a regular spot for me when I come to Portland. They have complimentary hot breakfast every morning as Hamptons do, but they also have a managers reception which is free dinner Mon-Thurs from 6p-8p which I've only seen at Homewood Suites properties before. This was a great surprise! My only con is that the rooms are pretty small as far as Hamptons go, but they were very clean and updated with comfortable beds. Maybe just my experience... checked in with my wife and dog (around 7pm) at the same time as a full school bus of kids. Got my room key while listening to screaming teenagers running up and down the hallways. Went to take my bags to the elevator going to the room and both were stuck between floors due to loads of kids jumping up and down in them. So I went to the stairs and noticed the first floor smelled quite musty (as in VERY noticeable). Hit the stairs and made it to my room (could still hear the kids screaming up and down the floors). Got in my room to relax - went and grabbed some food which I threw away in the room container. By 10pm - kids still stomping in floors above and running down the hallway which was constantly making my dog bark but whatever - it's not quiet hours yet. I was then woken up at midnight to kids screaming past my door and my dog barked. So - I went out to the hallway to yell at them to keep it down just in time to smell overwhelming scent of alcohol and the kids yelling "he came out!" Woke up in the morning to ants all over the food in the trash and the dresser where the tv was located. I killed as many as I could with a napkin and went on about my day. When we came back - kids were gone but now the front entrance smelled like weed and I'm pretty sure there was a hooker outside given the company she was with, the track marks on her arms, and her nearly non existent clothing choice. Hilton doesn't do itself any favors by attaching their name to this Hampton Inn. This is a re-branded hotel/motel masquerading as a Hampton Inn. One side faces the noisy freeway and the other side is an abandoned restaurant. The first floor rooms are extremely small & below sidewalk level, dark, musty and have no closets. Staff are sweet but there are better branded hotels close by. One night was enough - no hard feelings , refunded my points and cash & moved on. My advice after years of travel & 75-100 nites a year ....don't judge a hotel by its lobby or a "free" breakfast. Might be fine for the occasional traveler- road warriors beware. read more

Back again for another stay at the Hampton Inn Portland/ Clackamas and I will say I bumped my * rating up a notch from my last review because the property is nearing it's refresh remodel and the property has really come a long way! Let's start off by the aspect of mobile check-in, now you can use the app to pick your own room, I think is was disabled during the construction but glad to see the feature works now! Let me also comment on the staff, front desk always pleasant and the attendant in the breakfast area really pays attention to the area and ensures guests have everything they need. I was really impressed one morning when I was eating and the manager came over to every guest who was eating and asked us how we were enjoying our stay and if there was anything she and her crew could do to just ask. That was really great and not something I see all that often, but really "wowed" me. On to the room (410) this time, and the remodel has the room very well appointed, really had everything I needed. The bed was very comfy and the room was very clean. Plenty of towels but I will say that the bathroom is small and counter space is very limited on the vanity. You need to get creative and take some of the towels on the wall shelving to put your toiletries on. The room had a mini fridge and microwave too. Parking has never been a problem and there are special parking spaces reserved for diamond members. This hotel is one of the best values in the greater Portland area and no doubt I will be back! read more

The staff was super friendly. Everyone from housekeeping to the front desk were wonderful! My family and I recently stayed here and loved it! We were visiting family in Portland and originally we was only staying for 2 nights. But we decided to stay one more night. We talked to the concierge and she was able to move us to another room for one more nights stay. They saved us from driving northbound on a Friday night. Hampton also offers breakfast and dinner for the duration of your stay. That is a huge money saver, trust me! My kids loved the breakfast offerings. My family and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and I was surprised how comfortable the beds were, I loved the blanket especially that I'm thinking of buying it. I love their creativity with their elevator doors, some hotels' elevators are boring but it was cute to read some quotes on it. Although the elevator was small like can fit 4-5 people and kind of slow, but it wasn't that bad. I love the arts they have here too like in our room. Our 10 week old baby loved seeing the photography art! I love how the size of the art was huge to fill the emptiness of the wall. Even their wall mirrors are wide and tall, I love how it's not small like 2-3 people can share the mirror together. And usually at most hotels, it takes me awhile to get comfortable, but the bed made me sleep really well :) One reminder though, when you hear people talk outside the hallway, you can hear the muffling sound of their voice or when a baby is screaming inside the room and you're in the hallway, you can hear that. But honestly I don't think that should matter as long as the bed is comfortable! The brand that they used for shampoo and soap are Neutrogena if anyone is curious. Plus in our room, we have microwave and the fridge! If you want a view where you can see outside, don't use room 433 because the window view is another building lol XD but I love how it was very close to the elevator that's a plus. Their breakfast food were really good, selection of omelet egg, biscuits and gravy, oatmeal, waffle, cereal, bagel, chocolate muffin, pineapple, yogurts! Checking in was quite frustrating, but it could have been because it was late and I was tired, or because I had to pay again even though we already had paid (I was told to take it up in the morning). The room I initially went up to was small, but I was traveling solo, so that didn't matter too much. The cigarette smell though wasn't great. My room had a access door to the room next door, but was locked tight. Well, the next day a couple checked into the room and let's just say, the door let in A LOT of sound. I quickly got out of there to let them have their privacy and stopped by the front desk to see if I could possibly change rooms. The gentleman, German, was so kind and helpful! Night and day from the previous encounter with the other lady. After I went out for a bit, I came back and got the card for the new room. When I went to the old one, the people next door were talking in a normal voice and I could hear it perfectly, and the room STUNK like cigarette smoke badly. I quickly packed up my stuff and went to the other room. It smelled soooooooooooo much better and was way quieter. The morning staff were always very kind and helpful. We only stayed here one night, but our experience was positive. The place is a little dated and is under construction, and the beds are a little to soft but otherwise the place is nice. They give you to free snacks when you check in and they are good choices, like drinks or pistachios. The place is pretty quite and offers a good breakfast, not just bagels. You can get waffles, french toast, eggs, etc. and they had have coffee available 24/7. There are multiple plug and usb outlets next to the bed on the end table. Also, i hate going to a hotels where the alarm clock is so bright is illuminates the whole room with red light. The clock here has a light on it but is a dull orange which can be easily muted with a t-shirt. There seems to be plenty of parking.
