Decent hotel. It's a Hampton. Housekeeping every other day. Most staff are friendly and helpful, especially the woman with glasses who was working from 3 - 11 PM on Friday, June 28. I did not catch her name. But I appreciate her a lot. Breakfast was good, but get there early for the best waffle toppings since they run out. However, there were some issues. I was awakened extremely rudely my first night of my stay at 1 AM by the people next to me yelling, screaming, partying, and fighting. I called the front desk and it rang and rang for five minutes before someone answered, then it took him a while to do anything. It went on so long I struggled to get back to sleep and was sleepy all day. But the second night was better, quiet and uneventful. But please, do more about obnoxious, yelling, screaming guests. They ruined the stay for me, but if front desk had dealt with it quicker and more decisively, this would have been a higher rating. read more

I booked an overnight stay at this Hampton Inn, due to the short proximity to my morning appointment. I booked online in advance with no issues. I arrived around 5 and checked in, again with no issues. I was provided two bottles of water at check in with my VIP status, hint you can register for this status online prior to arrival. I was provided my keys, given brief directions as to maneuvering my way through the hotel and I was off. My room was clean, if not a bit dated, orange couch looked like it came out of my deceased Grandmother's house 2 decades ago. I had a king sized bed, decent sized TV, a desk, the orange couch and a coffee table. All the rooms have refrigerator units and microwaves. I think every hotel should do this, it's a huge plus if I just feel like kicking some back in my room. The fridge didn't work really well but good enough. After a short stay in my room I headed downstairs to get in a workout and a swim. The workout room was, well, pretty pathetic. I wasn't expecting a full sized gym but I thought there would be more than an elliptical and a treadmill, will a few medicine balls. I did a couple miles on the elliptical that honestly I hated. The machines arms were so far away from my body I found them hard to incorporate. I moved onto the pool. The pool is not large but I was the only one in it so it was just perfect. A 45 minute swim did me wonders before heading upstairs to get ready for dinner. I had a nice night's sleep. The bed was comfortable and the AC worked well. Hot shower in the AM and complimentary breakfast before departure. The breakfast offerings were moderate, which was a nice change to coffee and a muffin or bagel. They offered those, plus omelets, waffles, ham, a juice bar and cereal. I went with some ham and an omelet. Decent nourishment to begin my day. Overall, nice place to stay for the night. Though I believe it was a tad on the expensive side of almost $200 a night. Recommended. read more

As always traveling from one place to another with pain in my back area from driving. Regardless, we stopped at this Hampton Inn, greeted with great front desk service and she took care of our accommodations immediately. We entered our nice room with two beds, nice and clean. Bed was comfortable and enough pillows for one or 10 people. But it was just me in my bed. Hahhaha. Regardless, I can't not sleep bc of my back problems or/nor I'm sleeping in another bed. I really need my bed. Some people would understand this notion. Breakfast was nice, great combinations of foodies and goodies. One note of this hotel location is off the beating path. The hotel is rather new so I was surprised that the chairs in the breakfast/dining room were stained and needed to be replaced already. The breakfast itself was nothing special but the room was nice and the bed was comfortable. There's lots of dining and stores nearby so that's a big plus. We only stayed one night to attend a family event nearby and it was a comfortable room. I would say if they clean the chairs and the rugs in the elevator,it would give a much better impression. read more

COVID WARNING: Housekeeper refused to wear mask when cleaning the room across from me. Said "it makes my too hot" when I pointed out that her nose and mouth were not covered and she was breathing all over everyone and everything inside the room. "And I have breath difficulties." was her next complained when I said she ought to wear the mask to protect whoever would use the room. Then she put a blue "Hilton Clean Stay" sticker on the room door. I asked her NOT to enter my room and reported the incident to the front desk person, who seemed quite uninterested. We had a sporting event for our teen, and stayed at this hotel along with several other families that were there for the same event. The staff was so accommodating and very patient with all of us! We stayed in a King suite, which is a king room with its own TV, and then a separate living area with fridge, microwave and desk, along with a pull out couch and another TV. This was perfect for us, because it gave us privacy, and our teen could watch his own TV from the pull out couch. The only "problem" we had was that our mattress on the pullout was very uncomfortable, so I asked the front desk if we could switch it, and as soon as I got back to my room I got a call from the office manager telling me that they would be bringing me up a new one right away. Problem solved, it was much better! They made it a point to apologize again, and let me know that that was not their standard at all. Breakfast was nice nice, with a variety and even had fresh cut fruit! And the pool was open until 11 which made the teens in our party very happy! The Hotel is right next to a Ruby Tuesday and a Cracker Barrel which was convenient, and right off of 83. The hotel was clean and well kept, and the lobby and sitting area was inviting and comfortable for an evening parent gathering! Hampton Inn Shrewsbury - Hotels Near Me - New Freedom, Pennsylvania

My Wife and I love this hotel. This is the third time we have stayed here and we had such a great experience compared to another Hampton Inn in a nearby city where we stayed just the night before coming to Shrewsbury/New Freedom. A spacious lobby with great furnishings and great architecture. There is a nice little outdoor patio area to enjoy a sit in the air, and the columns in the lobby make it so you cannot see the front desk from there. We were not doing anything wrong and they have cameras around anyway, but from an architectural sense this makes guests feel less "watched" as they leisure. They also had a nice gas grill out there I assume one could use to make dinner right there after shopping at the market. They put cookies out in the lobby on many evenings...a very nice touch and very good cookies too. Adults and children alike were partaking in the cookie action. Rachael at the front desk was such a sweetheart and made us feel like being welcomed at a pleasant bed and breakfast. She even made us a special batch of cookies on a Sunday night when she said they normally do not put them out. She held them behind the desk so we would have them after returning from dinner. Fellas...if this girl aint taken you can find you a special lady here ;) Our room was more than acceptable...one of the best we have had and we have stayed at a few of these hotels. The staff leaves two bottles of water in the rooms to greet you rather than tell you they are available at the desk. Room was very clean with high ceilings. Breakfast spread was well done but they had problems keeping up with a large demand on Sunday morning. Coffee, tea, apples, bananas, cups, paper plates, plastic utensils, condiments, etc. were available 24/7. OK, here is why only 4 of 5 stars. -A lot of traffic noise outside (not in the rooms though) such as that nice aforementioned patio area.. -Door latches are insanely heavy-handed; not only to open and close, but if you allow the doors to close themselves it is a very loud noise...even shaking the walls. Imagine a hotel full of kids or some who are imbibing...very loud when people come and go sometimes...including yourself if you don't pay attention. -Housekeeping pounding on door at 9:50? What the heck? Checkout is 11:00 and not everyone is in a hurry...we were staying another night and sleeping in that morning. The front desk knows who has checked out...with today's technology there is no excuse for this...but, I am partially to blame for not putting the "do not disturb" sign out...but still...check out is at 11:00 *To her credit, the housekeeping person was a real nice lady, and offered me anything I needed from her cart since we declined housekeeping of the room that day. -No program guide on the TV...not a channel guide...a program guide...come on Hampton Inn's...what's the deal with that? Cable TV has been around a long time; surely you could work a deal with your provider for better services. -Hot tub was broken again! Third time here! -Either the elderly groups incessantly occupied pool or it was teenage groups of girls during this stay...we never got a chance to enjoy any of it. *There is a Ruby Tuesdays next door (used to be Applebee's) and across the road there is a decent pizza take out (with some tables) called Marcello's and an American Bistro called Bill Bateman (reviews on the restaurant part of Yelp). Again...we love this hotel and would recommend it to anyone...unless you are on a very tight budget as this place is over $100 a night. There is no other decent place nearby to stay. read more

I recently spent 2 nights here as my wife and I were visiting Gettysburg. This hotel isn't particularly close to Gettysburg (about 40 minutes away), but apparently the majority of the hotels around G-Burg were booked for the weekend as it was the anniversary of the battle. Anyways - there are 2 things that I look for as a bare minimum for hotel rooms. They are: a clean room and a comfortable bed. If a place can't deliver on both these, I have no idea how they are in business and I will not be staying there. Well, the Hampton Inn delivered on both. We had a king bed and it was very comfortable. The room was incredibly clean which I appreciate. As long as I had a clean room and a comfortable bed, I would probably rate all hotels at 3 stars. But, this place did a few things to go above and beyond. They had a decent sized indoor pool and a hot tub which we used one night. Even though it was a little crowded, it was still nice to use. They also put a really nice breakfast spread out in the morning - fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, juices, a waffle station and an area that had a different hot food each day. The first day was scrambled eggs and sausage and the next was omelettes and sausage. Usually these types of spreads get emptied out once and that is the end of it, but they kept re-filling this one with food each time they ran out or were running low on a particular item. Also, very good coffee. I was a little disappointed with the "fitness center". I like to keep my workout schedule, even on the road. This "fitness center" consisted of 1 treadmill and 1 eliptical. However, they were both Precor machines which are very high end. I was able to get a run in, so I was happy about that but the place was pretty disappointing. Overall, I can totally overlook the gym because the hotel was great. If you are looking for a place in the area, I think you will be pretty pleased. Also, free Wi-Fi - nice plus. read more

This hotel absolutely super-exceeded my expectations! I've stayed at a few Hampton Inns in the past and they've always been fair but this place is fantastic! When you first walk in, you get that modern vibe with a homey feeling. There's also a lounge area with a flat screen television in the lobby. Incredibly friendly staff and super clean room. Like ridiculously clean! The rooms are large, even in the standard king bed room. Our room had a large desk and a lounge chair. Bathroom was spacious and clean. Large refrigerator, microwave, Nintendo 64 and a flat screen television with plenty of options. Cracker Barrel right next door, Walmart down the road and a great Amish Market about a mile away. This place should definitely be your first pick if you're visiting the York/Shrewsbury area. read more

We stayed at the Hampton Inn while visiting friends and family in the Southern Pa and Northern Md area. We are frequent visitors to the Hampton Inn so we are familiar with the amenities that they offer. We had a room with two queen beds. My wife has allergies to feather pillows and we let them know when we got there. There was someone in the room to change the pillows before we even got upstairs. The room is a nice size with a fridge, microwave and computer desk with free wi-fi access. They have a nice pool with a jacuzzi. My only complaint is that we got back from dinner at about 10 and the jacuzzi was closed. There is a workout room with a treadmill and an elliptical machine with a tv to watch while you are exercising. The lobby is spacious and there are vending machines for snacks. Nice buffet in the morning before you get on the road with waffles, eggs, meats, fruits,yogurt, bagels, biscuits, gravy, toast, juices and a nice assortment of coffees. Discounts are available and they make sure to ask if you qualify for any discounts.Repeat customers can get "Hilton Honors" points. Pleasant and helpful staff make this a nice place to stop at a reasonable price. read more

Stayed at this hotel multiple times and I must say this is one of the best ones I've ever been at. Customer service is almost perfect, rooms are clean, bed was comfortable, and air conditioner worked properly. If I have to think of something that wasn't 5 star I'd have to say the cable, most places you go always have that generic cable that when you turn on always is on a preview channel that shows everything that's on sale or info about the hotel in general. I've stayed here at our local Hampton Inn twice now because of weather-related power outages at our home. They were fully booked both times and I was surprised at how well they handled the volumes of guests. The staff were always very professional and polite and patient. Even with full occupation, they responded immediately to our needs and kept the common areas spotless and fresh-baked cookies out for guests on a regular basis. The rooms were clean and beautiful. All areas of the hotel were always clean despite the great number of patrons. The staff was exceptional; always at least two people at the desk and when you walked up for assistance, if they were helping someone already, another staff member would still greet me and offer their assistance. Cheerfully even! I liked that they had a separate area with two computers and everything you'd need to do office work, including a printer right there. Very nice indoor pool and hot tub. They offer a good continental breakfast; always hot coffee, and my boys appreciated being able to make a hot chocolate at any time of the day. It was just really nice that even at full capacity they were able to offer an excellent level of hospitality. I will always suggest this hotel to friends and family and this is where I will go if we need a place to stay. Love it! read more

I recently stopped into the hotel to see if a night was available since I was staying out of town on business. We entered the hotel, went to the front desk and no one was around. We spoke loudly in the attempt that someone would hear us and realize we were at the counter. Still no one. We then walked around looking for help, still no one. We then walked behind the counter and knocked on the office door hoping someone was in there. Finally after about 15-20 min a lady named Gretchen Louie came out. We asked her for a room with our corporate information. She continued to state we do not offer corporate rates with our company. Yet in October multiple of our employees stay at this exact place with our corporate rate. Not only did she basicly force us to leave due to her horrible tone of voice and pure incompetence, but I am astonished how in the field like this, customer service and her position with the company (Director of Sales) that we would have been treated so horribly. We called down the road to another branch of the same hotel and we're taken care of with out any issues. I have sent family, friends, and coworkers. Never again. We will make sure this problem is known. And will never return in the future. read more
