Great location but food is beyond average. Nothing is fresh and the iced latte hardly had any coffee in it whatsoever (very watery, I think they just mixed a splash of iced coffee with milk?). Our group had a nice time eating here after taking a hike at the trail next door. I got the chicken salad but requested it without bread and was very satisfied that they served it to me instead on a bed of greens. One friend got the chicken Caesar salad. It's listed on the menu as a "small plate" but turned out to be a very decent size. My husband tried the key lime ice cream, which was not listed on the menu of flavors. This tasted really good too. The seating area is very limited - about six table with two chairs each. There are also a few tables outside. One drawback is that prices are not clearly listed. For instance, I could not find any signage for how much the drinks, muffins or croissants cost, which would have been helpful to me in my attempt to be a smart consumer. Overall, this is a nice place to grab a bite after walking or biking the trail. There is 30 minute parking for customers - apparently the employee told a friend of ours that they do tow away cars (I guess of hikers) but I don't know how much they enforce the time aspect. read more

This place is awesome! It is a quaint cafe that serves up great sandwiches with a surprisingly nice choice of toppings and super delicious bread. They have some hot options and tasty milkshakes/smoothies too. There is limited seating inside and outside. A great stop if you are on the NCR trail. Parking can be tight at peak times, but there is parking a little up the street as well. Be sure to check their hours and days open. read more

What a fun lunch spot at the Monkton Station NCR trail! Nothing better than to walk the trail, come back to this cute cafe and grab a bite. There have been far too many iterations of a cafe in the space over the years, but this is the best in memory. Their ingredients are all locally sourced (support small businesses in the community!) and very well put together. Everything I've had has been good, but the roast beef sandwich is what keeps me coming back every weekend I'm in Monkton. The only gripe--one shared by others who love the food but don't know when they can get it--is that hours are spotty and not posted anywhere. A prominent "Sorry, We're Closed" sign with a list of seasonal days open would go a long way towards making it easier to eat there. read more

We went for a late lunch one afternoon. Unfortunately they were out of quite a few things when we got there. It was a beautiful, warm day in February so I'm sure they had more customers than normal, but it still would have been nice to have more options to order from. We got the breakfast quesadillas. I got pulled chicken (so yummy!) and my husband got the pulled pork. The quesadilla was really filling and had so much flavor. It was a little pricey for just a quesadilla- I think it was 11 or 12 dollars. The staff was really friendly. They had outdoor seating that was right next to the NCR trail. It is a great location to grab a quick bite while on the trail. The restaurant is in a really cute, historic stone building. read more

I am from Florida and visiting a friend for a weekend. She took me here once after a nice long hike; the cafe is right on the trail head. After a long hike we came to Monkton Hotel Cafe and the employees were super friendly and the food was DELICIOUS! I got the Caprese sandwich and soup which today was tomato basil (best tomato basil soup I've ever had, no joke). My friend got the tuna salad sandwich. Both were amazing. So amazing that I asked her to take me back the next day! This time I got the grilled cheese and tomato soup special (had to have more of that amazing tomato soup) and she got the salmon bagel. Again, consistently good food and friendly staff and great prices. Every time I visit her it will be non negotiable to visit this place again! read more

I was so excited to try out this little cafe when it first opened- it's location right next to the trail is very convenient! The interior was cute and cozy and the service was great. The bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich was delicious- the Atwater's bread really makes a difference, and the avocado toast was creative and tasty as well (it does include nuts however, so a warning to request it without for those who are allergic)!
