On Labor Day Monday, I took the Hampton Luxury Liner from Manhattan to Montauk. I thought the bus was going to be full since it was a holiday. It was empty. Excluding me and the driver, there were about 10 passengers. I had two seats to myself. And speaking of seats, they were very comfortable. There was decent legroom (I'm 6'1"). Initially, I couldn't find the outlet. I eventually discovered that it' was hidden under the seat. And unlike the Hampton Jitney, the bus wasn't covered with a tacky looking wrapping. The bus left Manhattan at 1 PM. It was scheduled to arrive at Montauk at 4:15 PM. It arrived at 3:28. And with that said, the ride was far from perfect. The bus was as bumpy as a school bus. It was pure torture. The driver seemed like he didn't want to be bothered. He wasn't mean, just apathetic. Other than checking in people and announcing the stops in a soft voice, he said nothing. I paid $34 which is reasonable. The Luxury Liner doesn't run nearly as frequently as the Jitney or LIRR Montauk branch. Furthermore, you don't get the VIP treatment like on the Hampton Ambassador. If you're looking for a no frills experience and you don't care about comfort then the Luxury Liner is ideal. read more

Stranded last Thursday evening waiting for a 9:30PM eastbound bus that didn't show up until well past 11. No email nor text notification. The nasty customer rep said it's not responsible for buses held up in traffic and that they did send a text notification. This was a lie. *Particularly written for Black people and people of color* If I could give negative stars I would. THIS IS THE WORST! DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT book with this tour. Sadly the bus ride was the only good part. My homegirl bought tickets and asked me to go. We met up and got on the bus. It was a cute ride. The first stop was fine. We were told how the tasting works, given tickets, and went about our way to wander. The stops following, however, seemed to get worse through the day. Each location following felt like we were just being driven to random parties and dropped off, as opposed to a wine tour- no explanations about wines, tour, etc. Instead it was a lot of other people, enjoying the nice weather with alcohol that was available for purchase and live "music" in some cases. The last two places we stopped, I noticed the bartenders never seemed to notice me at the bar, even when I was standing right in front of them and they had looked directly at me. I don't like to jump to conclusions but it was seeming real suspect. As I looked across the bar, I noticed other people who ironically looked very similar to me were also not being served. As I stood there for quite a while, my friend, who is Caucasian, walked up to find out what was taking so long. I told her in a questioning manner, when she immediately turned to get the bartender's attention and....get this....he responded. I shook my head, as she angrily directed him toward me saying, "She needs to get our drinks! You didn't see her this whole time? Really?" I laid the tickets on the bar and walked away, leaving my friend to get the drinks and continue her outrage with the bartender. At the next location, we were only there for a short time when a group of Black women walked over and handed us their tickets because "[they] refuse to deal with this bullsh*t anymore." We thought to do the same, but we paid for these drinks! Why should we not get our money's worth because of assh*les! Throughout all of this, I forgot to mention that the wine also sucked!! 02/23/23' 6:05AM BUS TO Manhattan... Hostest WITH NOT the mostest... Never offered headsets for the movie to anyone on the bus. THEN NEVER OFFERED COFFEE TO ANYONE ON THE BUS. I got up and went to the back of the MOVING BUS to ask for coffee and got an attitude. Then was told to STAND THERE, mind you on a MOVING BUS to wait while she made it. THEN HAD TO CARRY IT BACK TO MY SEAT MYSELF! $$$ A LOT OF MONEY FOR WHAT $$$ ??? Then, just now 7:00PM ON THE SAME DAY! We called to make new reservations on the Ambassador and finally got thru only to have a giggling woman telling someone " help yourself, take what you want" then dead silence only to then hear her say "Love You, see you tomorrow "... When she finally addressed me she mistakenly stated the town I want to leave from as she was too busy with whomever to do her job. When I said, "No, wrong and sorry to interrupt you" she nastily replied " you're not interrupting me". I then repeated her conversation with whomever she was speaking to in "reservation land" and told her she had no idea of what I had asked for in the first place. I promptly hung up my phone... Hesitated because the reviews weren't great but we had an excellent experience with HLL. We would do it again in a heartbeat. The driver was delightful. Professional, friendly, helpful, and a very good driver. Water was handed out although most people had their own. The bus was on time both departing and arriving. Assigned seats. It took 2hr 40 mins - this was leaving the city at 5.40pm on a Friday so not bad at all. Sure it's a bit longer than the train but didn't have to deal with Penn station and getting to the platform early to line up and the stress of finding a seat. I had high hopes for the luxury liner when it switched ownership. It is now m run by the same company that owns the Hampton Jitney/Ambassador. I like the fact you have an actual reserved seat number, the pick up spot un Southampton is more convenient, and the price is competitive. Unfortunately,customer service is severely lacking--- just one person who works 9-5 to deal with all matters. That means there is no one to help when your evening bus doesn't show. Even worse, if you are entitled to a refund, you will have to dispute your charge with your credit card company because there is only one person dealing with these matters and weeks of persistent emails go unanswered. I can't understand why this bus company is so understaffed. Bottom line: I still occasionally take the luxury liner but never after 5pm and never when I need to arrive at the scheduled time. This is my first time on the Hampton Luxury Liner as we got a discounted deal for the Vineyard Tour on Groupon. I definitely don't want anyone to be completely flabbergasted by the reviews posted here, since most of them seem to be before the switch in management so I'll be sure to make this review as helpful as possible so people can get the full gist of what they're getting into: Tips: 1. Think of the bus like your standard, large coach bus that seats around 60 people. Friendly driver, cushioned seats, A/C on, bathroom in the back. Not a party bus. No strobe lights. No free wi-fi (at least on mine). 2. Sandwich order e-mail comes separately after you book your trip, around $12 if you wish to order (they give you your order around the first to second vineyard). But, you're allowed to eat/drink/be merry on the bus, so totally go ahead and make yourself comfortable + bring whatever you want. Keep in mind the ride's about 2 hours to the first vineyard. The first and third locations that were chosen for my day had your typical burgers, cheese plates, etc. The Trip: 1. Left from Manhattan = first group to be picked up. The arrival time is 8:30AM. The specific day we chose happened to be a day when the city was having one of their street fairs on Lexington Ave (where they pick you up) so the bus came later than expected and we had to relocate. We did get a phone call from the driver to meet us on a different cross street and I heard several phones ringing with the same call, so clearly trying to make the best out of the last-minute relocation sitch. 2. Picked up second group an hour or so into the ride in LI. 3. Given a sheet that told us the 3 locations we were visiting that day: Osprey's Dominion - 1 hour visit, 4 tastings that are already assigned unless you want to pay extra to pick what you want. Try their award-winning Carmenere (red) cause it's really good. Beautiful location, huge outdoor environment + games like Cornhole and mega Jenga available. Food = sliders + paninis for sale as well as gift shop for snacks/bakery treats. Duck's Walk - 1 hour visit, very quaint with indoor space and outdoor seating. 4 tastings of your choice and they recommend you try some of their dessert wines to pair with free chocolate. Food: cheese + car's crackers available for purchase + small snack shop. Baiting Hollow Farm - 2 hour visit and last stop, huge area with little gift shops (jewelry, souvenirs) and live music. 4 ticket tasting deal with food: typical burgers/fries deal + cheese plate platters. ***There's a Vodka distillery literally a minute walk away the opposite direction that has great vodka. Highly recommend, since purchasing a vodka tasting ($8) or cocktail ($15) gets you free souvenir glasses from what you drank out of! Overall, incredibly easy trip. Accommodating, great locations and free range to do whatever we wanted as long as we came back on the bus when time was up at each stop. Honestly, I would suggest paying a little extra and trying other drinks or getting another tasting because it's worth the full experience. :) read more

Well let me say there's no luxury in the Hampton Luxury Liner. This was my first ride with them. I have been using the Jitney and wanted to see what I was missing. Alas nothing. First off, my seat didn't recline. No welcome announcements no instructions about anything WiFi etc. my attempt at getting a cup of coffee was alas again not met. It's self service but apparently you need to bring your own cup. I opened the "supply" drawer only to find ....no cups!!! Many cup covers!!! No napkins. The AC was weak and WiFi also failed several times and the bus wasn't even full on Labor Day weekend. That should have been my first sign. In the bathrooms, no wipes or paper towels. Just toilet paper and a dispenser above the toilet. Amtrak and LIRR do better than this!!! All in all, my $59 was not a good investment. And no swag!!! I'm going back on the Jitney Ambassador!!! read more

Comfortable rides in nicely-appointed coaches (once rode in a very nice MB Sprinter with two other guys) with good snacks and an array of beverages (water to wine). And at a very good rate. Throw in a schedule with plenty of options and you have HLL. Also had the opportunity to call their CS folks (a minor issue on my part) and they quickly resolved it in my favor. I would not usually leave a review but I was very hesitant to book with Hampton Luxury Liner due to the atrocious reviews online, and I would like to reassure anyone else that may be considering HLL that they seem fine to me based on my one ride. For background, I usually drive back and forth between NYC and the Hamptons but was staying an extra day this weekend. I have taken the Jitney and the Ambassador before, and the Ambassador is definitely better but usually full. For my ride back today, the Jitney and Luxury Liner had availability, but the reviews seemed to indicate that the Luxury Liner could not be relied upon to pick up, was dirty, etc. The Luxury Liner was slightly cheaper than the Jitney, however, had only 4 people booked one day prior, and dropped off on my block. Importantly, however, I had to get back to NYC so a no-show bus was not going to work. I called the Jitney, and they said that they had just bought the Luxury Liner 3 months earlier. The first person I spoke with said she had not received any complaints about no-show pickups; the second person said any problems came from people who waited at a Jitney stop instead of the Luxury Liner stop. Feeling reassured that the Luxury Liner was now owned by the Jitney, which is pretty reliable, I canceled my Jitney reservation and booked the Luxury Liner instead. What happened: the Luxury Liner was a few minutes late on pickup but sent updates about where the bus was based on traffic. The bus was clean, very air conditioned (I had to put on a jacket I brought in case even though it was sweltering outside), and actually got me to my destination very close to on time despite the slight delay and heavy traffic. One thing I would have done differently is booked the seat next to me for 50% off because despite being nearly empty when I booked one day earlier the bus was fully booked to capacity when I got on. My seat mate was very pleasant, but due to COVID I think it would have been worth it to keep the seat empty for social distancing. In sum, there was no cause for concern with the Luxury Liner. The plush leather seats, plugs for charging your phone, and assigned seats made it a step up from the regular Jitney. I seem to recall that the Ambassador was even nicer, but it's been a few years since I took it so I can't really remember. Regardless, since I was so hesitant to book on the Luxury Liner I thought I would post a review good or bad so that someone else in my position would feel comfortable booking. Note this is a review of the wine tour offered by Hampton Luxury Liner. I found this tour through a groupon which offered a 2 person package for 50% off. What a deal right? Well first off the tour is priced at $185 per person. So buying the groupon brought this to $185 for 2 people. The website does not allow for you to reserve seats, so you have to call in. Calling in and getting reservations for 2 was easy enough. The customer service rep told me to make sure that I am at the pickup location 15 minutes before the bus is supposed to leave. On the day of the wine tour we arrived at the Plainview Four Points Sheraton around 8:30 to make sure we make the 9:15AM pick up time. There's no signs or any indication of where to wait so you have to ask the concierge or the front desk. We sat in the lobby waiting until about 9:00 then went outside to wait in the front of the hotel, since the concierge had said they would stop there. 9:15 comes around no bus. One of the other people taking the bus calls the bus company and they said the bus was almost there and should be there in 10 minutes. 9:30 comes around no bus. The bus doesn't arrive until after 10:00! The bus comes, which did not stop at the front of the hotel but all the way towards the entrance/exit of the parking lot. Like good sheep we all walk to the bus and try to get on the bus and be on our merry little way, but are stopped by the bus driver getting out of the bus. He had a list in hand and only took 4 people. And we ask is there another bus or something? The bus driver responds yes. Another bus arrives a few minutes later, the same process and this bus takes only 4 people. This was the most disorganized process ever. A total of 4 buses arrive and we had to ask each individual bus if we were supposed to be on it. I think it might have been easier to just have separate buses especially if you have 3 locations. So we get on the bus and end up all stopping at the next pick up location even though 3/4 buses were full. Then from there the 4 buses split up and went to different vineyards. I don't understand why the logistics were so poorly thought out... My bus visited 3 vineyards in this order: Osprey's Dominion Vineyards, Jsaon's Vineyard, Baiting Hollow Farm. We get to the first vineyard and this was around close to 11:00am. Note the actual driving did not take very long... Someone who works at the vineyard comes on the bus to let us know how to get the tastings and how many we had. We are just told that we had 1 hour at the vineyard. We guessed the approximate time of arrival to determine when we should leave and headed towards the bus, which was moving from the back lot towards the front. I waved it down before it got to the front lot, only to learn that we were the last two to get back on the bus cause it was actually just about to leave... So to sum it up: Buses were really late Bus drivers wasted time Bus drivers and customers were confused at to which bus to get on Bus drivers do not give you a time of when to get back on the bus Bus drivers will leave you stranded If you compare this to driving to the vineyards on your own and buying the tastings I think you are better off driving on your own. $185 buys you plenty of tastings and wine... read more

This company is a PATHETIC joke and makes me DISGUSTED - I have never been so DISRESPECTED. Here's what happened putting me in such fumes that I've published one of my few yelp reviews: I took Bus 105 - a mid level "luxury liner" (bought on a Groupon in their desperation to sell seats) )- for a scheduled 4:50pm departure east to Sag Harbor. My boyfriend and I had booked our seats together while my girl friend - "J"- booked 2 seats (for her and a friend) and a pet ticket (with me on speaker phone). Before the bus takes off, J was prohibited from boarding and the ONLY-STAFF-MEMBER/DRIVER-IN-1 THREATENED to have ME. ARRESTED. Later, when I got off at the Sag Harbor stop I said "Ma'am It would be appreciated if you didn't THREATEN TO CALL THE POLICE on your passengers." This triggered her to call me "a disgusting human being" in a loud voice. We'll call this "Luxury" Liner pseudo driver "CNT" for short (who also stepped outside to smoke cigarettes at airport stop, and then later use): The events: - Bus is 40 minutes late with no notification to passengers until one calls Luxury Liner after 20 minutes. Multiple jitneys pass by. - With the driver also being the only staff member, passengers load their own luggage under the bus. No guidance. J's friend HIT HER HEAD with a bump the size of a golf ball - After J paid extra to reserve seat #16- to be behind my boyfriend and I (11 and 12) the driver insisted she was #37 with NO RECORD OF PAY EXTRA SEATS - After paying an extra $20 to bring her dog, CNT refused to let J board with him. CNT said there was no record of the reservation. Not caring about double spending, J said "I'll pay you another $20" giving CNT cash. Some background- as I was on speaker phone during J's ticket booking, i questioned a ticket fee as the dog is a licensed support dog by a real doctor (not online). Such fees do not apply to Amtrak, airlines, hotels, and essentially all mass transit until this day. The team member said there is still a charge but mentioned nothing else. Since. Luxury Liner also lets you book pet tickets online it seemed as if this would be nearly seamless. There needs to be some sort of pet policy at the very least in terms and conditions. After not finding the reservation CNT insisted the dog be in a carrier. This is something you would expect to hear upon phone booking or read online. However if so, it typically does not apply to support animals. After getting the manager on the phone who said "the [dog] can only travel in a carrier, " I I took items in J's constructed duffel type bag - put them onboard- and went back out to help J put the dog in the carrier. With him in the bag CNT said HE STILL couldn't board. Particularly since I have a support dog of my own, know this one quite well and had been on speakerphone with J during the reservation, I was vocal in all of this but keeping my voice level and without profanity. CNT said "do you want to get on this bus (after I went back out to help J) ? If you don't stop complaining you won't be able to get on the bus".. later, she threatened to call the police. I did get on the bus. My friend did not. CNT stopped to smoke at least one cigarette and go use the Southampton train stop restroom (bringing toilet paper back out with her) during the ride. Please note that the biggest issue in all of this is the THREATS and LACK OF RESPECT to customers, and disorganization of the company. 5 stars for the quality of the bus. Take away 4 stars for their Customer Service. I live in California, and visit my friend in NYC maybe twice a year. We got a living social coupon for overnight at Resorts in Atlantic City, and roundtrip on Hampton. We decided to go to celebrate her birthday. The bus picked us up in NYC, and I have to admit that it was a very nice bus. Plenty of legroom, plugs so I could charge my cell phone and watch my Ipod Touch, and magazines and snacks at the back of the bus. The trip to Atlantic City was fantastic. BUT THEN.............. They told us to call back twice to reconfirm our reservation. I called the day we arrived, and called a second time the next tday to reconfirm our reservation per their request. We were (supposedly) confirmed on the 7 PM bus. The 7 PM bus arrived at about 7:30. The driver started loading anyone in line, including "day trippers.:" We explained we had reservations on that bus, but he wouldn['t even listen. I asked him to check the manifest. His exact response??? "It doesn't matter what the manifest says." He left about 20 of us, all with reservations, behind. One poor lady was absolutely in tears. I went back to speak to the Bus dispatcher, but he said that the next bus was 8:30, but it wasn't scheduled to arrive til 9:30. He couldn't reach Hampton to confirm reservations for us, but he said we'd "probably get on." We couldn't take that chance, so we had to dash next door to the Taj Mahal, and pay an additional 35 dollars each for a different bus back to Manhattan. I called Hampton the next day, and finally got a manager. She said that the 7 PM bus was "overbooked", and that the people with reservations "should have gotten on." She said that the "driver had been spoken to. (Yeah, right........) She offered to refund our tickets, but when I told her we were on a package, she said she couldn't refund our tickets. I asked for a refund for the $35 each we had to pay for the other bus. She said she couldn't do that. She said all she could do was send us 2 free toclets. When I explained I live in California and I don't come to NYC that often, she said they "should" be good the next time I come. I took the free tickets, but my friend is going to give them away with a warning about how Hampton runs their business. Personally, I would not ride them again if they paid me. read more

I had a Living Social coupon for RT transportation to and from Woodbury Commons. Because I had a voucher number on the Living Social coupon, I had to call to make a reservation. They say you need to call 48 hrs prior to the day, but I called 24 hrs before but then again I was going to Wodburry on a weekday. Due to the rain, the bus was quite late. I got on at the first stop and was quite impressed with how nice it was inside. Definitely a "luxury liner." The seats are leather with plenty of leg space and there's a meal tray in front of you. There is also a hook, cup holders, an electrical outlet, headset for the movie (on the chair) and the chairs recline. There's a restroom in the back as well as magazines and a spread of bottled waters, Snyder pretzels, Chips Ahoy chocolate chip cookies and Cheez-It's. After picking up all the shoppers, we made our way and the driver popped in a DVD (in this case, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone") and we left. With the Living Social deal, they give you 5 hrs to spend and then you head back to the city. Once back on the bus, the back snack area was re-filled and we proceeded to watch "Dear John." The driver arrived at Woodbury Commons 15 min. early and we left promptly. I'm glad I bought more than one of these Living Social coupons to the Outlets. My friends and I did a winery tour on Sunday, September 12th, 2014. Upon arriving at the buses in the city, there was no organization and about 30 people's name were missing from the bus drivers' list, including mine. Once all the confusion simmered down and everyone was placed on buses, we headed out. My bus was full, except for 2 or 4 available seats. Our bus driver had to stop at Plainview and Ronkonkoma to pick up people. I understand that the buses need to be filled up, but maybe there should be specific buses designated for each location because this cuts into our time. Upon arriving at "Jason's winery", we found out that we would not be going to Pindar because "there were too many buses over there". Pindar was one of the reasons my friends and I decided to purchase these tickets. It was upsetting not having been able to go there. For our first and second stops, we were there for about an hour to an hour and a half. For the last stop, we were there for about 3 hours. This was too long at this winery because even though there was food available (which you have to pay for separately.. VERY expensive for the quality...), there was really not much to do for 3 hours. I would have rather visited another winery as well. Upon leaving from the third winery, on the way back into the city, we had to make those 2 pit stops again in Plainview and Ronkonkoma. It was 6:30 and we had JUST made our first stop in Ronkonkoma. I feel that it would have been better if we didn't have to stop multiple times. It added time to our already delayed trip home. It was a one time experience, I wouldn't do it again unless I was certain the organization was a bit better handled and if we would have been notified properly of the change in locations we were stopping at. My friend had to take initiative and ask why were at Jason's when that was not on the list. In terms of the bus itself, it was very spacious, and had individual plug outlets so you could charge your phone. There were snacks in the back (water, pretzels, and raspberry cookies), but those were all gone after the first winery stop. I thought they would replenish, but I guess not. OK experience. I will begin by saying I had never taken the Luxury Liner because of its higher price point than its competitors but I thought I would give it a shot today on my trip into work and must say I was severely let down by my experience. Firstly, I didn't know there was "assigned seating" so around the Southampton stop, a man and his son had to ask me to move out of their seats which is extremely unprofessional and . The girl working apologized because the iPad was down (so she didn't know which seats were reserved) and luckily the bus wasn't packed so I didn't have to go to the back, but what if I did have to? When you are paying more for a ticket than on competitor busses, you think you'd at least get a water for the 3 hour trip? On others you get a water, a snack AND a paper (selection of 3 choices!). On the "luxury liner" you get nothing. Thirdly, people can talk on their phones on the Luxury Liner. I am sorry but what about listening to people conduct conference calls across the aisle is considered any form of luxury?! One of my neighbors even started playing videos off of her phone without headphones at one point. How is this allowed??? And last but not least, I arrived 45 minutes later than scheduled. You would expect this at rush hour, but we were schedule to arrive at 12:05 and landed at 12:45 instead. Explain that mismanagement of time? It is a shame to have to write this as I really did have higher hopes for the Luxury Liner, but instead I would confidently suggest they lower their prices if they are going to lack in so many departments where cheaper rivaling companies succeed. read more

It was a nice, full day of exploration. The bus had leather seats and air conditioning which made us comfortable. The wineries had great vibes and tasty wine and snacks. Next time I would probably go in the summer instead of early spring so that I could see the vineyards harvest. read more

Went for a girl's day out this past Saturday with my best buddy. I'll start by saying I fully knew what to expect (or rather not to expect) from the reviews here. Met at 47th & Lex at 8.30a. Three busses are lined up, you approach one driver confirm your name and they tell you which bus to get on. You get in, you sit down, you wait. And wait, and wait. We finally pulled out at 9.15a. But not before the driver got in and out about 10 times with papers in hand. Then we get to LI and he pulls over to go through names - I'm sorry did you think that someone bailed out via window in the last 45 minutes? So yes, administrative wise - they are lacking. Move on to winery #1, we get off and are given 4 tix. Great wines, lovely location, beautiful outdoors - my favorite out of all 3. It helps the weather was perfect at this time, sunny with a little bit of breeze. Here for an hour. Then on to the second, this one the wines weren't as great but there was a live band and families grilling and playing outdoor games - so what it lacked in drinks it made up for in ambience. Here for an hour as well. Then the third, though a nice place the weather was not in our favor as it started to drizzle and turn overcast as soon as we got there. Agree with the others.. the 2 hours is a bit long and can def be cut in half. The ride back was the expected travel from hell getting into the city on a Saturday evening. Back in the pick up location at 7.30p. Would I do it again? Sure - it also helps that we purchased our tix via Groupon so there was def a good discount. Win win for all! read more

Five of us girls had a Groupon deal to go to Atlantic City for a mini-getaway. I called about a month prior to reserve our seats, but was told they did not take reservations until 2 weeks prior to the departure date and to call back then. I called about a week and a half prior and no problems getting the reservations. Hampton was the nicest bus I've taken. It has comfy reclining seats, complimentary bottled and coconut water, snacks, electrical outlets, headsets for the movies, and is very adequately air conditioned. It's a little disorganized getting on and off the bus. We also stopped on the shoulder of the road on our way over to AC and a pit stop, but weren't informed as to why. We were told to call a few hours before our departure back to NYC to confirm the time of the bus. That was a tad bit annoying and I was on hold for 10 minutes before I gave up. On my second call, I received the information right away and the five of us were even able to hop an earlier bus. The staff could work on their communication skills and loading/unloading of the bus. All in all, a positive experience. I would use HLL if I ever felt the burning desire to go to AC again. read more

Went to 3 vineyard short stays 1 hour and last was 2 hours at Jason's It was perfect time. Any longer is too long. Got us back to Plainview at 6. Great timing. We packed a lunch and water. Terrible!!! I paid $37 for the Luxury Liner that was well described on their website, but NOTHING like the Luxury Liner I am on right now. Filthy, smelly, worn out fabric seats...not the luxurious reclining leather seats they promised. No Outlets on the bus at all. No Wifi. No movie. No magazines. No snacks or water. No arm rests, no cup holder, no tray, not even a little hook for a purse. Dirty wood-like floors. The grossly unsanitary bathroom has a broken lock and large gap in the door. Bus is rattling loudly like it's about to fall apart and the relentless high pitched squealing sound is maddening. This bus is disgusting and they have no right to call it a Luxury Liner. read more

I've been taking the Luxury Liner since they first started. They will get you from A to B, but don't expect stellar service. The buses are in good shape. Seats are comfortable. Bathrooms are clean. Wi-Fi is decent. Water and basic snacks provided in the back. Operationally is where they fall short. Not sure if new management has taken control recently, but they leave a lot to be desired. The attendants are not well trained, the drivers give you the "hey I just drive the bus don't ask me" attitude, and I've now seen multiple cases of double-booking seats for passengers that paid/reserved in advance. For only being $6 cheaper than the Hampton Ambassador, you would expect similar service, but the Ambassador outclasses the Luxury Liner. It's worth the few bucks. And for the people blaming the Luxury Liner for traffic patterns, I would normally say go stick your head in the sand, but the Hampton Jitney company does a much better job having their drivers communicate real-time traffic updates to one another to avoid certain routes and/or use side roads along the LIE. Sorry, LL, you used to be a good alternative, but I would rather spend the extra few bucks for more consistent service. Hope you get it right soon though! read more

Buyer Beware!! Hampton Luxury Liner does not care about the safety and wellbeing of their customers AND THEY EXPLICITLY TOLD US SO! I too was on a bus that got overly rowdy. I'm not naive enough to believe that this was going to be a peaceful or calm day; however I did not anticipate feeling as unsafe as I did. Being stuck on a bus covered in puke, being berated by a group of girls that were bragging about how they were underage, being on an hours long bus ride with no toilet paper, and being trapped in the back of a hot bus (the driver turned it off and got out) while a fight broke out in the front were definitely not part of my expectations when I signed up for a fun day at the vineyards. As if all of that wasn't enough , when we called to complain they told us that our safety is not their responsibility, and that we should take it up with the vineyards. I'm currently on the bus ride back to Manhattan from a Vineyard winery tour package that I bought on pulsd (a online deal program similar to gilt and Groupon). Honestly the trip was enjoyable, the bus was very clean, and the bus ride was smooth. The wineries (we visited three) are all spacious and beautiful, and the wines we tasted were decent. However, the people in the buses are ridiculously obnoxious. I really hate being a party pooper but these large groups of 12-15 people constantly force the (very nice) driver to blast extremely loud music on the bus speakers, making it a terrible experience for people who just want to relax on the bus. The Hampton Luxury Liner isn't a party bus, but these people seem to not have gotten the memo. Even worse, there has been this one guy in particular who dangerously walks around the bus aisles, and EVEN SAT NEXT TO AND TOUCHED THE bus driver's switchboard (while the bus was IN MOTION) so that he could increase the music volume. Ridiculously dangerous and inappropriate. I hate the fact that these people are ruining it for other families who just want a nice and relaxing day trip to the wineries of Long Island. I feel like the managers of these tours should ensure that these large groups book their own vehicle of some sort so that they can enjoy blasting music and partying it up in PRIVACY, instead of ruining it for others in the same bus. read more

Only one experience on the HLL and it went quite well. Had booked a return to NYC and had to cancel. We were offered a credit for another trip (I would always prefer a refund when possible, but we had to go back out, so no biggie). Four of us together with our dog had seats on the Diplomat Coach from 39th Street and it was great. Lots of space, clean, cold A/C and good WiFi. The bus tracking app is a real bonus - were able to track with time for a nosh before it arrived - traveling with kids makes it a big help. No issues with seat assignments as I've seen in other reviews. Driver and attendant were professional. I had trepidation reading a number of bad reviews before our ride, but our experience was relaxing and comfortable. Would use HLL again. read more

I wish I would have read the reviews prior to booking my ticket. Shame on me! I had a 7:05 pick up in Sag Harbor, I was at the stop by 6:45. At 7:10 he drives right past me! I immediately call the company and customer service agent says he stopped. I replied "I am here in front of the stop, trust me, he didn't" Then she says she could see it on his camera where he was and he stopped. I tell her again that he didn't and I am with other people who saw the same thing. She repeats herself (with a very aggressive voice) that he did and then says she is not going to argue with me over this and tells me to go to the next stop. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? I then tell her in a very firm voice "He passed me and I am not going to go to the next stop. I am where the stop should be." We go back and forth on this and she then says she will call the bus and tells him to turn around. (FINALLY we are getting somewhere) Driver comes back- I said, "You drove right past me, what happened?" His reply- "I had miscommunication on where to pick you up." He said was in front of a hotel. Since my pickup he has had to go back to another stop as he missed someone who was waiting for him. Yes, I am writing the review while on the bus because I am so furious with them and RUDE customer service. NEVER AGAIN- I used the Jitney to get to Sag Harbor and I highly recommend them. I wanted to try something new and I learned my lesson of "If it's not broke, don't fix it" Jitney also offers snacks/ water. I thought I'd give the Luxury Liner a try since it was advertised as under new management but the experience was awful. The bus driver was not at the stop (he was in front of Starbucks a block away in an unmarked bus.) I was one of 3 waiting at the stop & we were astonished to see that bus, which we were later told was our bus, drive past us. The manager in the office was absolutely unhelpful & told us we should just wait an hour for the next bus which did come to the correct stop. I gave them one chance, that's enough for me. If they could get their act together, it could be great. But standing on the sidewalk in Manhattan for an hour after a long day at work is unacceptable. read more

First-ever Yelp review... DON'T PAY TO RIDE WITH HAMPTONS LUXURY LINER. Take the Jitney/Ambassador, train, friend's car, Uber/Lyft/Juno/etc., Blade - don't rely on this company, find another way. Friday night: without notice, the bus was delayed 45 minutes. When the bus did come, it went by without stopping. After six phone calls - none returned - over about an hour and a half, eventually a rep told me the bus was gone and there was nothing they could do; by then every alternative bus and train had departed for the night, ended up hiring a car to make it out. Monday: (Other services were sold out, so made the mistake of trying again.). Bus went straight by the stop (again) with five people waiting there. Called immediately, and didn't get a call back (again). The next two Jitneys were sold out, got lucky with the last seat on the subsequent Ambassador, while waiting on resolution from M&V Limosine. To be fair, when I called again, was told they finally got a hold of the driver this time and that the bus was turning around and coming back, but, if it did, I was gone. Have yet to receive refunds or any sort of follow-up - as was promised - for some sort of equitable resolution. Will be making my first-ever claim to BBB, as well. Hoping new ownership can turn around this re-launch of the brand in a hurry, or that HLL goes away for good this time. read more

while I understand that it's difficult for the company to control the behavior of those on the tour, they do need to take some level of responsibility for the safety and well being of the passengers on the bus. That being said, my experience with Hampton Luxury Liner was horrendous. There was a group of 14 on our bus that was extremely loud, rude and inconsiderate of others on the tour. They brought handles of liquor on the bus and were taking shots and chugging champagne by 9:30am. Needless to say, things did not end well. By noon, someone had puked all over the bus, the group started berating our small group of 6 girls, and one of the men from the group punched another WOMAN on the bus, which resulted in a full out brawl and the police being called. This is all bad enough, but when we called to complain to the company and let them know what had transpired so they can prevent this from occurring again, they basically said this was not their problem and they have no plans to take steps to ensure others don't have similar experiences in the future. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had, and I honestly felt unsafe being trapped on a bus with drunk, irrational people beating each other up. Went last weekend via GiltCity offer. The bus was 30 minutes late in the morning, 30 minutes late at the pickup of the last location. Got back to the city at 8 pm even though the slated arrival time was between 5 to 6 pm. There was one super obnoxious group on the bus which was a bit annoying. The vineyards were okay. Not the best wines, but the I didn't mind it that much. The bus itself was not luxury. There were no outlets at the seats, chairs were ok, but not super comfy. I think the biggest issue I had was that the experience was branded as "Luxury Liner". Bus is fine, but not luxury. Don't think it was worth the money. If it was much cheaper, then it would be fine. read more

Have only used this service once but I can't say enough about how impressed I was with HLL. Booked my daughter on the 6:20 to Jamesport from 39th St on the Thursday of Labor Day weekend. She got a txt that day saying her driver would meet her in a black Volvo at the location. Me, being a paranoid NYer, called the office to ask about this obvious 'scam' text. The woman in the office, Jennifer, was very nice and knew my daughter's name right away. She told me that the txt was correct. Because she was the only one booked at that time, they didn't need a bus so she would be driven out in a car! My daughter arrived promptly2 hours later right to out driveway! The driver was very professional and extremely nice. I was amazed, happy and grateful that they kept the booking and didn't just cancel her and leave her stranded on a holiday weekend. We will definitely use this service again. I highly recommend them based on our experience with HLL read more

Took this service in June round trip and going out was ok not great. Bus not as advertised and the attendant just sat there and did nothing but eat snacks that we didn't see anywhere going back was really bad.
