I stopped in to see if they had blue crabs, so I could have two dozen steamed/spiced for my drive back to Philly. I originally planned to stop at my favorite place in Rehoboth Beach, but when I called in advance to place the order, I learned the the shop was closed this week so their family could travel. Unfortunately, DeMaria's didn't have any blue claws, because according to the owner/manager, her brother didn't set the traps in Chesapeake Bay to catch them. Too bad, because I probably would have taken their entire catch. But, I learned on my trip home that the three other crab shacks I stopped at on Delmarva were all closed on Monday, if not Tuesday as well. My crab karma just wasn't working. I accepted my fate with a smile, knowing both I and those beautiful Blues would live to enjoy another day.

I went there to purchase three fish dinners and decided to order two crab cakes to try something different. Unfortunately, the crab cakes were absolutely disgusting. I called the restaurant to let them know about my experience, and I specifically told them that I wasn't asking for a refund. I simply wanted to use the $14 I spent toward something else in the future. I still had the crab cakes and was willing to bring them back. Instead, I was told that they use their own grease to cook them and that the owner said I could not bring them back or receive any credit. What really disappointed me was the lack of customer service. They would rather lose a loyal customer over $14 than try to make the situation right. I was going there three times a week, and every time I went, I was purchasing 3-4 dinners. I had even started recommending this restaurant to other people because I supported their business. But after this experience, they will no longer have my business, and I will not recommend them to anyone. Rollins and Graham on Armistead Avenue will have my business from now on. Customer service means a lot to me. It's not always about getting your money back--it's about how you treat your customers when something goes wrong. Unfortunately, this restaurant failed that test for me. I would think twice before spending your money here.
