My child's exam itself was smooth, but the dentist's behavior raised serious concerns about safety and professionalism. I recently had COVID, so masking is still a priority for me in medical settings. That's why I was shocked to see Dr. Han repeatedly enter the room with his mask under his chin -- especially when every member of his support staff wore their masks correctly the entire time. I asked him to cover his face, and he said he would "in a few minutes." He briefly masked during the exam, then removed it again during X‑rays while standing inches from my unmasked child. For a provider working in close proximity to children, this felt careless and unnecessary. On top of the inconsistent masking, Dr. Han made several sweeping, fear‑based claims about electric toothbrushes (gum recession, mold inside the handle, microplastics) without offering any evidence or nuance. These statements sounded more like YouTube talking points than professional dental guidance, and they didn't match our family's actual dental history or the excellent condition of my child's teeth. The whole appointment left me feeling unsafe and uncomfortable. My son will remain a patient here only because this is the practice our insurance covers, but the dentist's approach has seriously undermined my confidence in the care. Update: I want to clarify that my concern was not about "hurt feelings." It was about trust. When a medical provider dismisses a basic safety request and responds with inconsistent, fear‑based information, that's a breach of trust -- not a matter of tone. We have been visiting Dr. Han since my son was 2 years old. The office is very clean, well-organized, and clearly set up with kids in mind. Dr. Han is attentive, explains things clearly (to both kids and parents) and takes time to make sure everything is done properly without rushing. 1 star for the front desk staff and the look and feel of the office. I was so excited to be there with my kids today. Dr. Han's support staff seemed great. I want to share everything below to spare you from the interaction I had. I spent 20 mins bawling my eyes out in my car after being asked to leave. Yikes. Dr. Han was extremely condescending, clearly bothered and moody from the minute I asked him to speak with me. I was told I needed to pay $70 out of pocket for my son's X-ray because my prior dentist didn't send them for him to review. However, I made the appt over a month ago and no one from his office called to tell me the X-rays did not come through, they just sent me a bill. If they would have told me, we could have rescheduled. I wouldn't have missed 2 hours of work and I wouldn't have pulled my kids out of school. When I saw the $70 bill for X-rays in my email, I thought I could decline the X-rays and do the cleaning. The doctor asked if I expected the treatment to be free to which I responded, "Yes, that would be great!" And later told me I shouldn't expect things to be free. He told me it's like walking into a store and expecting things to be free. But I didn't know I was suppose to buy anything - twice a year cleanings are covered by my insurance. Why would my daughter be FREE and my son be charged $70? It didn't make sense at the time. While it makes sense now, I was just confused. This could have all been avoided, by giving me a call prior to showing up at the office for treatment. He ranted about how hard his staff works and how he stayed up until 11:00pm (I don't doubt that - I admire their profession!) I think Dr. Han has forgotten how to be kind and professional. He sounds tired. He really lacked tact and care today. It felt as if he really wanted to blame me for not paying $70 that our family can't afford. We barely live month to month. Genuinely, I thought I could decline and opt for a normal cleaning. He told me he could lose his license if he got audited didn't do this X-ray. Again, if someone would have called prior and told me these things, I would have understood. In the end, he asked us to leave in the middle of my daughter's treatment, despite the $70 charge being for my son. I was shocked - yes, I was extremely uncomfortable with him, but I trusted he would act in the best interest of my daughter laying in the chair. He acted in HIS best interest. He didn't want or need to see her after our interaction, so he didn't. He ushered us straight out the door. I'm sad to write this, but I can tell he has a history of mistreating people as I see in other reviews on this page. Impatient and moody. I told a friend about my experience and she mentioned she heard this about Dr. Han before. Surprise, surprise. I'm sure he's maybe an excellent dentist, but I want to warn you - he had NO bedside manner with us. It was horrible. We were essentially kicked out of his practice in the end. First time for everything. Word to the wise - If you get a bill, make sure you call them right away and don't think you can decline an X-ray. They will not call you and X-ray decisions aren't up to you like at the doctor. We are literally RUNNING back to our prior dentist. We only left them because they weren't taking afternoon appointments, but we will GLADLY take a morning appt now. Lesson learned. read more

Can't say enough good things about Dr. Han! I haven't written a Yelp review in 5 years, but this experience earned one. We took our 2 year old here wanting a second opinion after being told he'd need to have a tooth extraction. Dr. Han did a much more thorough examination than our previous dentist and explained in detail what our options were. We decided to wait a month to see if the issue resolved itself -- it ultimately did come back, but we then went into the extraction knowing it was the clear right choice. For the extraction itself, Dr. Han had incredible bedside (chairside?) manor. It's stressful to have a 2 y/o put under general anesthesia, but he was able to answer all of our questions and put us at ease. The procedure itself was smooth -- we were in and out in under an hour, and our toddler is back to himself! Dr. Han and his staff are top notch. Our 18 mo recently suffered a dental injury and needed immediate attention. His staff fit us in quickly despite being new patients and he gave us excellent care. We got second opinions from other nearby experts and they all concurred with Dr. Han's treatment course. On top of all that, he was kind and comforting to our little one as well. His staff is excellent. Beyond compassionately squeezing us in, they have been consummate professionals. Every form is clearly explained and there's always a clear estimate of cost before each visit. Scheduling is easy and the automated reminder system is very convenient. We feel so grateful to have our child in his competent care and to have a physician like him in our neighborhood! My main issue is that (in front of my son) Dr. Han stated that my 8YO son "has the mouth of a 6YO". It seemed to be thoughtless. He said this because my newly 8YO son has lost only one tooth so far. Teeth fall out when they are meant to, and I am not concerned, but I did find this statement to be both ridiculous and rude. Had my son been a more anxious child, hearing this could be problematic. After finding a cavity in my son's mouth, Dr. Han shamed me for choosing to use fluoride-free toothpaste and stated "cavities are the most prevalent childhood disease in the U.S." His entire approach was so not-cool, condescending, inappropriate for working with children, and guilt/fear based. We took our 2.5-year-old in for his very first appointment and could not be more pleased! I waited so long to take my son because he is high energy and sensitive (think tantrums) and I didn't want to traumatize him. Well, turns out we had nothing to worry about. The office is inviting, decorated with all of my son's favorite characters. There was a TV overhead in the room and they played Cars for my son bc he was raving at the Lightning McQueen picture on the wall. Dr. Han was patient and really took his time getting to know us and teaching us what we needed to know about toddler dental care. Thankfully (miraculously), my son didn't have any cavities and he predictably cried during the cleaning but Dr. Han was gentle and quick and very reassuring the whole time. Dr. Han traumatized my 2-yr old daughter. My daughter was looking forward to her first visit to the dentist, but left with a horrible experience. Dr. Han has no patience when it comes to children. He ruthlessly brushed my crying daughter's teeth where gushes of blood was seeping out of her mouth. Me and my wife was shocked and tried to calm our daughter down during the process. Dr. Han refused to have us comfort her and even told us that our voices are getting in the way of him concentrating. Definitely do not recommend. Here's the thing parents need to understand- no little kid is going to want someone all up in his mouth. That's just a given. So if your child cries, that's normal. If your child's gums are bit red afterwards that's normal! Secondly, Dr. Han is all about parent education. If you are giving your kids juice and candy then accept the fact that YOU are the cause of your child's cavities. I highly recommend Dr. Han and his team. We switched to Dr. Han after an unsatisfying experience at Park Pediatric Dentistry on 9th (nothing terribly wrong, the dentist we saw there just seemed a bit out of their depth.) Dr. Han is a wonderful, kind, patient guy, who loves his vocation, and is great at explaining things to both inquisitive parents and little kids. He was recently trained and knows his stuff. His admin staff and assistants are absolute pros. They take care of appointment changes over email promptly. I also appreciate that Dr. Han has weekend appointments. Our daughter has been to the dentist for several cleanings now over 3 years, and her associations with the dentist are all positive; that she gets a fun sticker and gets to watch TV in the ceiling. No drama, no stress. To the anti-fluoride crusaders leaving 1- and 2-star reviews... I don't know what to say. If that's your angle, and your kids keep getting preventable cavities, then I think you will have a hard time finding a dentist you can see eye-to-eye with. I think the fact that Dr. Han is going to bat for your kids' health and being honest with you about the science actually makes me think more highly of him. read more

My two girls (9&11) have been seeing Dr. Han for 3 years. Not only is he always friendly and engaging with them, but he really provides care above and beyond teeth. When my daughter was having tonsil/breathing issues, Dr. Han took extra time to discuss and advise us on her sleep study results, ENT and orthodontist recommendations. He also shows the girls on what's going on in their X-rays, and educates them about the effects of food choices and hygiene. The office is immaculate and equipped with the most current, safest technology. That includes X-rays and NETFLIX on the overhead screens... there is also a cool prize vending machine which my girls used to go crazy for. Something needs to be done about this guy. Have waited a few weeks to see if our anger towards him would subside. We have a timid 3-year-old who benefits from a gentler approach and touch with most everything. She's seen Dr. Han before without any major issues. We brought her in for an appointment a few weeks back. Predictably, she was crying walking in. She was his first appointment of his day. He was clearly in a bad mood and repeatedly yelled at her - in a raised voice: "YOU NEED TO STOP CRYING!!". Without any effort to console - he began looking in her mouth. He then screamed "you bit me!" - and angrily called for a clamp to pry and keep our daughter's mouth open. If for any reason he disputes that - my wife was watching the whole time and swears there was not bite. That said - in the event that there was a bite - Dr. Han was insanely fired up and angry about it. He spent the balance of the visit yelling at/borderline chastising our 3-year-old daughter for crying! I'm still shaking with anger. Out daughter kept saying over and over for the next two days: "Dr. Han made me sad...". This guy may be okay for cooperative children but for young ones who have the audacity to be afraid or cry - STAY FAR AWAY! read more

My son did two molars extraction with Dr. Han. This is our second visit and the first time it was my husband brought in my 11 years old & 6 years old. The first appointment was ok, my son just needed a cleaning. However, for my 6 years old daughter, I was suggested by Dr. Han for a general anesthesia for treating her cavities. Dr. Han did not give me a lot of options when I was suggesting a couple appointments treating cavities maybe one side at a time and, but I told making appointments with them is challenging. I respect his professionalism, but I still seek for 2nd opinion, I was able to look for another dentist who were welling to treat my daughter in a couple appointments for her cavities to avoid general anesthesia and also the quote from Dr. Han was around $4000, mind you I have two dental insurances. Finally, my daughter was treated, and everything is ok. I just moved on and didn't really think much about it. Fast forward for this last appointment, Dr. Han is a very serious dentist, without a friendly smile. He is very straight forward, and not too opened for discussion. I witnessed the whole procedure of my son two molar's extraction in the room., I was pretty disappointed the way he spoke to my son and it was always with authority and attitude. Unlike the other dentist we have worked with. Our appointment was at 4:15pm, and with two molars extraction, I was really concerned if my son would be able to have dinner. (sorry for being such a mum). I have brought it up to Dr. Han and he said it couple times saying he would be fine. I asked if we should do one side at a time and AGAIN, he said we should do it at all once since we were here already. Anyhow, my son was in pain right we got home, I gave him tylenol and he felt better but when dinner came, he could not eat at all. He just could not even he said he was hungry. I am sorry but I am the type of mum who really wants the kids to have at least 3 full meals a day and I know missing one wouldn't hurt but my point is, if I have had brought it up with Dr. Han, he should have a better knowledge and at least tell me maybe he wouldn't be able to eat solid food or maybe having hard time. I honestly feel like Dr. Han care less and he was not opened to my concern. I am sorry we will not be going back. Not to mention I have to take care of all the charges up front and they will do the claim for me after. God knows how long this will take and how much I will get back. They don't have the answer. But this one star isn't anything to do with charges, it's the professionalism I expected, and it certainly did not meet my standard. read more

Well, what can I say about Dr. Han? That he's the coolest pediatric dentist out there. Always accommodating and takes care of his patients. My son has been coming here to get his teeth done and is always leaving with some type of goodies whether they're stickers, new toothbrushes and what not. But he is very good with my son when it comes to settling him down cause he can get too excited or move around a lot. He's got flat screens on the ceiling so kids can watch tv while getting work done. You can tell he's into his work cause he's professional and really knows what he is talking about when it comes to dental work. I highly recommend Dr. Han. Dr. Han is an exceptional pediatric dentist. I am a dental student and met him when he was teaching at UCSF- he is part-time faculty there- and was so impressed with his professionalism and commitment to excellent dental care that I begged him to let me observe his work in his own office. In shadowing his office, I was impressed with his friendly staff and spacious, comfortable office. His patients genuinely love to visit him and the little ones blow him kisses. :) What most impressed me was his commitment to educating both his patients and parents on how to prevent cavities in the first place. We've been to Dr. Han 2 or 3 times and have had ok visits. Dr. Han was always great, knowledgeable, patient and friendly. Front desk were always just a quick check in and check out, not very welcoming. As I was rescheduling our appointment today, I was informed that they now charge $25 for PPE. I understand the importance of ppe during this time. However, I'm in the dental field as well, and I feel the $25 charge is absurdly high as I am aware that other offices are charging significantly less for ppe or none at all. read more

Dr. Han and his staff are outstanding! My daughter who is 4 now has been seeing him since the age of 2. He is extremely thorough and gentle and makes me and my daughter feel at ease. Three days ago my daughter fell down the stairs and broke her front tooth and her teeth lacerated her bottom lip. He was extremely accommodating getting her in right away and told us we needed to get her stitched up. Her front tooth is still broken (which we are trying to save) and I've never experienced such prompt and courteous communication with me- calling me and emailing me promptly whenever I have a question. Everyone at Han dentistry is kind, helpful and very accommodating and I'll always be thankful for their help during my daughter's first traumatic experience. Look no where else. Per my wife review (Grace K.), the initial experience the first two times was good. The 3rd time was later in the day (past 4 pm) and when our 3 years old lost patience since he was a bit more forceful than usual, she tried to bite his hand. Instead of calmly dodging (and given that his finger had a protection), Dr. Han lost it: he ended up swearing angrily, screaming at our daughter and mumbling that it was the 5th time of the day. I'm sorry to say but I don't think this is the correct attitude of a pediatric dentist especially as he did not apologize after. Based on high ratings and great reviews we chose Dr. Han for our daughter's pediatric dentist. We've had a handful of visits to the office before Covid hit and everything was great. Dr. Han was very kind and gentle with our daughter, patient and friendly. The Office seemed very new, up to date and clean. The waiting room was set up with a TV with kids shows/movie playing and 2 wall iPads that the kids could play games on. Once the office was open again during Covid June/July 2020, we brought our daughter in for her annual cleaning/check and all the safety precautions were taken (questionnaire pre-appointment, temp check upon arrival, hand sanitizer, etc.). We were quite happy about that. However, at check-in, we were informed that the office would add a $25 PPE charge, which they would try to bill insurance, but wasn't a guaranteed item/service they would pay. I was asked if I wanted to pay now or wait to be billed (if insurance doesn't pay). It would have been nice if this was disclosed prior to the appointment, but it wasn't, so it seemed like a shady way to force a charge on a patient (as it was coded as some "misc" service on the insurance bill). Anyway, I basically had no choice but to pay. This really didn't sit well with me, thinking about how pediatric patients come in day in and day out and you're charging $25 per patient for PPE? I mean, yes, I get it now in hindsight, there was so much unknown about Covid so PPE is definitely reasonable and necessary, however, I doubt they needed THAT much? I don't know, it just seemed like it was almost a bogus charge to cover lost revenue during the few months Covid shut down the city. And get this, 6 months later when it was time again for the another cleaning, I specifically called in to ask if they were still charging the $25 PPE fee. And they were... really?! As much as I liked Dr. Han and his office, I just couldn't justify the $50 per year "PPE fee." We made a switch to another dentist where no additional fees or costs were implemented due to Covid and we couldn't be happier. read more

While I appreciate Dr. Han squeezing my child in for an appointment, he's rather intimidating and definitely makes you feel ashamed for not knowing how to take care of your toddler's teeth. The lesson is much appreciated, however the delivery can be much, much better. I haven't written a Yelp review in a decade, but after our 18-month-old's first dentist visit yesterday, my hiatus is ending. Our daughter is VERY skeptical about anyone new, and freaks out the moment she enters a doctor's office. But Dr. Han's entire space is devoted to putting kids at ease, and everyone in the office was so calm and welcoming. Once in the exam room, Dr. Han was thorough, patient, informative, and (perhaps most importantly) unflappable - our daughter screamed throughout her entire exam, and he acted as though nothing was happening, which put us parents at ease. She had an exam, a teeth-cleaning, and a fluoride treatment, and Dr. Han explained each step (and why it was necessary) to my husband and me as he was doing it.
