Good experience overall. My son & I stumbled upon this place while driving around looking for somewhere to eat with decent ratings (I would give it a mid four... 4.5 to be exact... we need some intermediate marking options Yelp!). Here's why: PROS: Location - off a main road, easy to find, parking is free Menu options - Good selection of items Taste & Presentation of food - Very good... food was tasty (with the exception of the Pad Thai in my opinion) and the seafood was fresh. Portions were good too. Service - Very attentive, quick and professional staff; conversation toward the end made them even better! Value - Price for all you can eat was very reasonable, worth it if you ask me! CONS: Ambiance - Floor was slippery (literally the entire floor surface, as though it had buildup of substance, it was odd.). Also the seating and general look of the place is quite old & outdated. IN SUMMARY: Overall ambiance is a factor in deciding on a restaurant, but is more important to me for a special occasion or on date night. When I dine out, taste, service and value are what mean the most to me. As for this restaurant, I would for sure go back! It's a great little local spot. I've been quite frequently at the location on Saturday and Thursday for both dine in and take out. On Saturday, I found the service really really slow. Dishes like the teriyaki beef that's served in a sizzling plate were at times, tasting like they were just microwaved and placed on the plate, other times legit sizzling. So inconsistent. As I entered the main person who seats patrons (guy with bleached highlights and glasses) was resolving a customer who didn't get most of their orders, I should have taken this as a sign that it was going to happen to me. When seated, there were times that orders never came that I had to follow up. By the end of the night, I would say I can count with about 3 orders that were never received. :( So I returned on Thursday hoping for a better weekday experience. A bit slow to start but overall they were able to keep up. Beef teriyaki was again inconsistent, some serves seem to be microwaved and placed on a plate that was not preheated. Others were slightly sizzling. I can see this operation slightly adjusting to the higher volume of customers from Sept students. The other side of it, if you like to be warm while eating, wait until November when the heater actually consistently turns on. The restaurant has not turned on the heater so it's really cold in there. Or bring a parka, your choice. My rating did drop I as I ordered the wok items off their take out for some coworkers. Wok items are supposed to taste like wok and they were just a bunch of corn starch thicken takeout and soy sauce. Portions size are small. For the amount I paid, I think I can get the exact same dish from the Chinese-Canadian shop in the mall for the 3 items for a certain price...usually under $10. I travel the world for business a lot and I am always trying different food establishments and I got to say this is absolutely the worst experience I have ever had from the grungy feel of the place the the dirty tables, dirty glasses dirty water jugs and food drops all over the seats. The place is not child friendly. I brought my 8 year old and she sat there and eat nothing because they have no choices for children. The food took so long to reach our table and when it got there it was under cooked for the most part. The waiter who checked us out was so rude and also angry that my 8 year old who had 1 sprite that I didn't drink did jot pay the full buffet price after he had already brought the bill and knew we said my daughter would not be eating. He went out of his way to be super rude about it and I offered to pay but he continue with a rant of how his boss would be super mad if he saw my daughter drinking the sprite and not paying. I offered to pay at that point and he kept going and we just avoided the confrontation and walked out. The overall experience was the worst i have ever encountered. We spent $150 for the worst service and food ever . Save your money and stomach from this place. read more

According to other reviews, this seems to be a highly loved sushi spot with a wide variety of rolls. Due to their large menu, it was a bit overwhelming at first to decide however, I tried the Hanami roll. This is a special roll that is exclusively only done at Hanami. It consists of crab meat, mango, prosciutto, cream cheese drizzled in mango base sauce. The cream cheese was had a bit of a fruity taste that complimented well with the crab meat and prosciutto. The sauce wasn't too heavy on the mango flavour so it wasn't overwhelming with the mango bits. This exceeded my expectations for a fusion style roll! In summary, Hanami is a good sushi spot if you're craving sushi & are in the Guelph area. Given the portions of the roll were quite large, the price point is fair. I would definitely come again to try the traditional rolls. read more

Sashimi is very fresh. Service: We were quickly seated, and given an iPad to make our orders with an fully explained on how it works. Any additional things we needed, were promptly taken care of. Ambience: A nice relaxing atmosphere in the restaurant, made for a very enjoyable dining experience at this establishment, and I would highly recommend it. My brother and I were visiting Guelph, and we decided to try AYCE sushi here. They were very busy as one of the only know all-you-can-eat sushi options in the city. They had a lunch menu option, unlike the other two restaurants we looked into. We loved it. Specially worthy of noting are the appetizers which are delicious. Our only feedback to the restaurant is to have some sashimi options in the menu. Servers were great and checked up on us to make sure everything was to our liking. read more

Excellent quality and fresh sushi. Nice variety in the menu. The restaurant is clean and the staff are incredibly friendly. The staff have a high degree of integrity too. I accidentally overtipped by a huge amount and the staff chased after me to correct it rather than just accept it. The only down side was that I had a sharp 1.5" long bone in one of my salmon sushi which could've been a problem for my kids but luckily I was the one who ended up with it. Not really the restaurants fault as the chef wouldn't have been able to see it. Something to address with their supplier for sure. read more

We recently got to try the newish sushi restaurant in Guelph. I'm not sure what was there prior to but I do know they were restructured from a previous restaurant. Our dine-in experience was pleasant with quick and friendly service. We opted for à la carte versus AYCE this time around. I had the mussels with melted cheese (which was delish), calamari (also great and large portion size), karaage, yakiudon, Thai beef noodles and dynamite rolls. Everything was good! We loved it so much that we came back a day after for takeout. The spicy salmon roll was fantastic but for some odd reason this time around the dynamite rolls tasted a little bit off so we didn't end up eating it all. We definitely will be back though for AYCE and sake with our dinner next time (their sake menu looked great!). **UPDATE** I ordered a sushi/maki party tray for Christmas and was blown away by the amount and quality of items considering the price point! The dynamite rolls tasted Amazing this time so that one-off occurrence I had was definitely a thing of the past. My guests loved the platter! read more

Went recently with a small group for ACE and had a great time . The staff were really friendly and service was excellent. The ACE includes free fountain drinks, which was nice. Food was overall really good, the calamari is my favourite. One in our party uses a wheelchair and we found the bathroom to be very accessible. Would definitely go again. read more

What I did not enjoy is like several ayce places, they always seem to forget to bring you some pieces. They have some of those digital ipad ordering menu system, so they can't claim I didn't order it. Usually the most expensive nigiris. Had to ask about the missing pieces once, and then a second time to get my full order. Then they forgot to bring me my dessert ice cream. I've been here several times since it opened last year. The first few times it was amazing! But the quality and service has declined in the last couple of months. About 6 weeks ago, I visited at lunchtime and was served the most disgusting smelling fish ever. A couple at a nearby table were gagging and ended up leaving. I also complained and the owner told me he wouldn't charge me and encouraged me to come back as they would fix the issue. I returned and it was better, but the service was lackluster as I waited nearly 10 minutes during a very slow lunch to be brought a small bowl of ice cream. Two visits ago, the sushi rice wasn't cooked in the middle but was very mushy on the outside of each grain, making it less than appetizing. At my most recent visit, I opted to only eat about 1/2 of the rice that was served with each piece of sushi (there was a LOT of rice!). When the waitress cleared my table, I was told that next time, I would be charged for not finishing my rice. I understand not wasting food, but there was maybe 1/3 cup of rice total. Anyway, that was the last straw for me. This place started out so well, and I'm sad they couldn't maintain the quality of food and service. read more
