I did a ton of research and asked for recommendations to replace our privacy fence. The fence company that most everyone gave rave reviews about is Hancock. Boy was everyone right. From responsiveness, work ethic and impeccable service, Hancock should be your first and only call, when needing fence work! I initially reached out to Hancock via Yelp, of course ‍ Tyler immediately responded and didn't waste any time answering all of my concerns. The next day he came out to walk/measure our fence and give me some bid options to replace both sides of two alleys, front of our house sections, one new gate (we were eliminating the backyard gate), remove a section along our driveway and add an auto-gate. Our neighbor had already replaced our shared section of fencing. Their bids do not include staining, but the company they recommend, Ultimate Wood Care, is equally as awesome and reasonably priced. Since we were upgrading to 8' board on board w an auto-gate, I knew it was going to be expensive. Our property sits on a half acre and our driveway is 30' wide. So we probably have double linear feet and width of driveway. But it is true what we all say, "you get what you pay for." Yes, it was expensive, but this fence isn't going anywhere, the fence is built w steal fence posts, cedar pickets, the front gate is framed w steal and the auto-gate is the icing on the cake! Additionally, if you spend big bucks on their premier fencing, you'll get a 10 yr warranty! This warranty has been incredible. We had a couple of boards crack and I simply notify Tyler w photo of picket, he sends his guys out the very next day and they not only replace it with a new picket, they stain it to match the color of our existing stain! Next, Tyler gave me their bid, I approved, he got necessary city permits and the guys were out and demoing our fence the very next Monday morning at 9am! Tyler's guys are punctual, respectful, hard working, do a hell of a job removing/replacing fencing as well as installing auto-gates and very dependable. Having worked in the construction business, as Operations Manager for 17 yrs in Austin, I am super picky and very vocal regarding punctuality, dependability, cleanliness on job site and completing work in a timely manner. Hancock fencing is above and beyond my "high bar" expectations. The guys showed up on time every morning, left our property immaculate at the end of each day, worked a full hard days work and completed our fence in a 5 day work week! I simply cannot sing enough praises for, Tyler and his crew! So don't waste anymore time researching and comparing fencing companies, simply call Hancock, you will not be disappointed or have any regrets when they're done! After one of the early spring wind storms, we knew we needed a new fence. Hancock Fence was recommended by our landscape company, who said Hancock built the best fences and gates they had seen, and were great to work with. They were right. We researched fence companies for a good while before settling on Hancock. One of the biggest indicators of their solid work was driving alleyways in neighborhoods around us and seeing Hancock fences that were older (could tell by the aged wood) but that were still standing perfectly straight and looked very sturdy, versus some other companies' nearby fences that were leaning or sagging. Plus the thorough explanations on their website of how they build showed that they put the effort in to do quality work. We had them quote a few different options and configurations so that we could tailor what we wanted to our budget. Their pricing was in line with the other quality fence builders we've seen, so we went with them due to the high quality. Communication was great and Ryan kept us informed via e-mail throughout the process. We didn't have much phone contact during this but I much prefer e-mail anyways because it's easier to reference what's been discussed and it avoids playing phone tag or leaving a bunch of voicemail messages. Our build got delayed a week due to weather pushing back the job ahead of us, which Ryan kept us informed about, but once they began it went quickly. The crew worked hard each day, did impressive work, and afterwords the yard and surrounding driveway were cleaned up nicely. My only minor nitpick is that Hancock suggests another company, Superior Woodcare, for the fence stain. The problem is that Superior's quality seems to be severely lacking. It just so happened that we've used Superior a few times over the past 9 or 10 years to re-stain our old fence and they used to do decent work, but it looks like they've gone downhill. When they stained our new Hancock fence (and also stained some window shutters) Superior failed to show until two days after they scheduled, did very sloppy work, and left a mess behind. Look over Superior's reviews if you want, but I'd recommend selecting another company to do the stain. So our Hancock fence has been done for just about a year now and we have been nothing but happy with the quality of the build. Their custom lifetime gates are awesome in terms of how sturdy they remain and how they can be adjusted if necessary, and with those rock solid steel fence posts and the quality wood it looks like our fence will be problem free for many years to come. We put aside a few dollars every month so we'll be ready to get it re-stained every three or four years and I have no doubt it'll look as good as new for a very long time. read more

We hired Hancock to repair our oversized and normal gates. Rather than simply repair them, which would've only lasted another few years, they redesigned the gates by adding their intuitively engineered steel-welded frames to the existing wood. Today, after the first major cold snap this season, I noticed the newly installed latch wasn't lining up the way it so nicely did the day before. But...their well thought out design already had the solution built right in. By simply adjusting two steel nuts, I was able to realign the latch perfectly in about 2 minutes. Eureka! I highly recommend Hancock Fence! We got a brand new rolling gate and fence last summer and have been 100% satisfied since! Dutch and his team were professional throughout the entire process. While planning our new rolling gate I had a ton of questions and concerns about a shed we had being in the way. He was quick to stop by, meet with me, and answer all my questions. Since then we've had some simple troubleshooting problems with the gate and Dutch is always Johnny on the spot and fixed everything for us to where we haven't had any other problems. Hancock was neither the most nor least expensive, but they are great at customer service and build an awesome fence so their price is commensurate with the product they provide. I asked a ton of questions and he answered every one of them, how long have your crews been with your operation? (which is very important) in my opinion, the list went on. I reached out to the Hancock Fence family back in early Aug 2018, to have my fence replace and to have 3 stone columns straighten. The Hancock Fence family came highly recommended by my doctor. The Hancock Fence family seem to have a great CRM system, they gave me a quote within 24 hours. After 13 emails asking for a start date to do the project. They finally response on Sept 28, saying they were sorry for the delays and much on their end and asking me, if you guys are still wanting to move forward with this project, or if you have already gotten everything done? Dutch the owner handled all my questions, phone calls and emails in a very timely manner. I paid a tad over 4 g's for the best built fence in my area of McKinney. Its board on board grade 1 cedar from the best family owned company left that Dutch buys his wood from. He explains everything from why you should use aluminum nails to why you should never attach a gates hinges directly to the cedar. His workmanship is flawless and precise. We just recently used Hancock due to a recommendation from a friend. Very disappointing. They are severely overpriced considering the customer service they provide. We only proceeded expecting great service for our money. Wrong. Let me start by saying they stood us up two different times to come look at our property. My husband literally only heard from them by email. The only time he heard an actual voice was when it was payment time. The last time they stood him up they told him they came out at a later time in the day instead of the agreed time to walk our property by themselves to put together our quote. This is wrong on all levels because this is a huge investment and the consumer needs to see what they are pricing and how. They "supposedly" walked our property but we have no proof. The quote had the gate on the wrong side. Wrong side? If they were truly at our house then they would've known where our gate was. Customer service is terrible with this company for the overpriced fence they offer. Plus they never touched base with us to inquire afterwards if we were pleased with the fence! Onto good things. The men that came out to do it were friendly and cleaned up the yard nicely. The swinging gate is amazing because it is steel lined and swings and clicks closed like a champ. We love the gate. The fence itself is solid and sound. This credit I give to the men who did the work. The quality of wood is great. Overall the fence is good, overly priced...we don't mind paying higher price for good quality but this was too much. The customer service stinks. Our fence was installed by Hancock in 2007 by the previous owner. We had a problem with the gate alignment due to erosion and drainage problems around our house. I called Hancock and Dutch came out within a day and corrected the problem at no cost. So many companies claim to provide a lifetime guarantee on their product, only to try to wiggle out of it on a technicality when you have a problem. This company actually stands behind their product. The fence is still in great condition, unlike many of the fences of the same age in our neighborhood that are now falling to pieces. Have waited 2 years to review my Hancock fence. Wanted to see how it looked / held up with time and weather. Purchased 2 rolling driveway gates, 2 walk gates and about 250 feet of 8 ft. board on board fence with all the trim options, top cover and post covers. Had it stained per Hancock recommendation with Superior Co.. Was solid and well constructed on day 1. Looks and operates exactly the same 2 years later. No failures, loose or sagging boards, gates, screws, nails or any other problem. Dutch, Tyler and crew were professional, fast, and constructed the fence exactly as promised. I have no complaints. Edited 4/2018: Receiver for rolling gate motor remotes failed late in the evening. Called Dutch, he was at my house at 7:30 next morning, part in hand and fixed the problem, no charge. On his own initiative and part of his service he also adjusted chain tension and surveyed the fence for any other possible/potential problems. No charge and no other problems. Can't beat that for service or warranty 3 years after the sale. Still satisfied in all respects and continue my positive recommendation. read more

Would have loved to have them build my fence and rolling gate. Tyler came out for measurements promptly within a day of my request for a quote. He took measurements and I told him to finalize the quote because I wanted to get started. He told me they would find a spot and work me in. A week passed and no contact from Hancock. Two ignored emails and another week is passing when I emailed a third time asking if they were waiting on something from me. Tyler just emailed back and said they are putting off doing any more rolling gates until fall. I guess they would have just left me hanging if I had not emailed a third time. This would have been a minimum of $10,000 with them. So be warned not to think a handshake from them means anything. Their website really fooled me. read more
