He explained all to me, answered all my questions, then my wife arrived home and covered the same all over again with her. I had a fantastic experience with Cedar Creek Fences when my fence was damaged by a storm. I received replacement quotes from five separate companies and while Cedar Creek Fences wasn't the cheapest quote, they provided the best value. For one thing they use #1 Western Red Cedar which is the best of the best wood for fences. The fence is also installed unstained and stained a few weeks later, allowing the wood to dry out providing the best environment for the stain to stick. My other fence company quotes used pre-stained pickets and lesser grades of wood. Cedar Creek Fences also sets their fence posts 3ft deep and mixes the concrete on site. My other fence quotes only wanted to set the posts 2ft deep. The biggest standout in my opinion was that communication was phenomenal from start to finish. Whether I called, emailed, or texted Dave, the owner, responded quickly and took time to provide thoughtful and clear responses to my questions. He is personable, patient, and kept me updated every step of the process. His crew was also terrific. They showed up on time, kept their working areas clean, and finished the project ahead of schedule. My fence was tricky with three sides bordering neighbors but the crew was careful with all my neighbor's properties. In the end I have a beautiful fence and have received compliments from all my bordering neighbors and from neighbors just walking by. Dave was extremely easy to work with and provided incredible insight into what our new fence would entail, without applying any type of uncomfortable sales tactics/"add-ons" that you see with a lot of these other fence companies. Dave and his team at Cedar Creek have been first class from the time I started my evaluation process to the time my fence was completed. It is rare that a company completely exceeds your expectations, but that is exactly what CCF did. Here is what I asked CCF for...retaining wall replaced, 8 foot, board on board cedar fence replaced, top cap and 2 gates. I put Dave through my evaluation process where I receive bids and information from each vendor. Dave knocked this out of the park. He was friendly, he listened to what I was trying to accomplish, he was well prepared, and very informative. When I mentioned that I had a small dog and was concerned with gaps between the fence and retaining wall, Dave had the perfect answer. Little did I know, this was way more than the cherry on top. CCF handled all of the permits, communicated the schedule, and helped me get the city calmed down as my fence had been down for a few weeks. CCFs install team is second to none. Professional, courteous, friendly, and most of all, incredibly talented. The team lead answered all of my questions and did not seem to mind in the least that I wanted to watch. (Back note: I installed my original fence, got 20+ years out of it, but I wanted to learn what I could have done better). In addition to the fence, I though in a couple of curve balls....that were hit out of the park. I wanted to install a weather station on one of the post. Pablo, the team lead, said no problem and just wanted to know what post. He then custom cut the top cap around this post as though this was the originally idea from the beginning. In addition, Pablo offered to help me install the weather station. I told him I would try this myself. Previously I mentioned a solution for addressing the gap between the retaining wall and fence. CCF installed a wonderfully designed series of boards that create a "small wall" capped by beautiful cedar. This sealed in my entire backyard and there is no way critters are getting in or out. I was so blown away with how this looked, that I asked to have the same process adding for an additional 25 feet where it was only the fence. To me, this is what a fence should look like. CCFs quality of work was like watching artwork being made. The attention to detail, the quality of products, the knowledge in how to put this all together are amazing. From a price tag perspective, CCF was right on target. They were not the lowest, nor the highest bid....those get thrown out. The value for what I have received is awesome. We had several quotes, all from companies that received good reviews on Yelp which is a help to all of us. Pricing - all companies were in the same area given equal materials (one company was a little lower but was going to use a lot of pine vs. cedar in the fence). The main reasons we went with Dave and Cedar Creek Fences? 1. Very responsive and good with communication. This is not always the case with contractors. 2. Very knowledgeable. He was the only contractor that did a thorough enough investigation to determine why our fence was leaning, a failed retaining wall on our neighbors side. 3. My wife and I solicited bids from five highly rated companies in the Frisco/Plano/McKinney area. Dave was the first individual to respond to our estimate request, and he scoped the project / provided a high level estimate within hours by looking at an aerial view of our property. The price point was within our range, and Dave came to our house to ensure his understanding of our project was clear, and also offer suggestions/thoughts for our consideration. Even before selecting him as the vendor, we probably had 25 e-mails back and forth between the two of us. He was responsive, and most importantly, took the time to ensure every question we had of him was answered to our satisfaction. We ultimately selected Cedar Creek Fences to complete the job, at which point Dave turned the project over to his crew lead by Pablo. Pablo was exceptional to work with as well, and kept me updated every day of the project with how the day went and what to expect next. The fence and telescoping driveway gate took about five days to complete, and the product was stained about 30 days later. Cedar Creek Fences is not the cheapest builder, but by far the best value for the quality of the product. We have received several compliments from neighbors in the development. We had Dave and his crew install a double sided 8 ft board on board fence between our yard and neighbors in April. The fence is beautiful. This is an old neighborhood with established trees, shrubs and existing sprinkler lines. Some issues came up during installation and were immediately addressed. In July we turned on our sprinklers for the first time due to a very wet spring. We discovered a broken sprinkler pipe where a new fence post had been placed. As we were on our way out of town at 5:30 am on a sunday morning I arranged for my usual sprinkler repair company to fix the problem. When we got back I contacted Dave and got promptly reimbursed for the issue. The sign of a good company is how they respond to problems. Issues will inevitably come up. Overall great experience. I was very happy with how in detail everything was explained. Also, giving lots of different ideas as had some different options we were unsure of. After they explained the details and the quality I was pleasantly surprised by the price. Not the cheapest or most expensive quotes we received. One of the big reasons I chose them was that they did not use pre-stained wood and almost everyone else did, even other high end guys. Communication was great through the process. The crew was quick, professional and clean. My only complaints were I wished the staining company communicated a little better. Also that both crews would have moved items back that they moved out of the way. Overall happy with the process as it was not painful and happy with the final product. I am hoping to see that my stain really does last as most fences in the neighborhood seem to fade or be stained by sprinklers within a year. I had a "fence emergency" while I was out of town for the holidays and relied on fellow Yelpers' reviews. (I figured if they got quotes and went this route, then I was safe using this company.) One of my dogs got out, so I wanted this project done ASAP--I was contacted by Dave on Christmas Eve--he responded the same day I requested information. My fence was completed (stain and all) by February but the fence itself was done in mid-January which I think was an excellent turnaround. (I basically had to patch my existing fence for only one week.) Dave was highly communicative during the whole process--there were no surprises and his crew was polite, quick and clean. Nothing was left behind when they were done and they were nice enough to put the locks on my fences when they left since I had to leave.
