I paid about $400 for the repair on the AC initially, which didn't fix the problem. I took it back and was quoted and ADDITIONAL $1,500 to replace the compressor. (That would have made this an almost $2,000 air conditioning repair.) Industry average cost is less than half of what they quoted me. I took it to another professional and had it done for $500, where they found another issue with the AC that Phil's either never mentioned or never found. I brought up my gripe with Kris directly and was met with hostility. The shop wouldn't communicate via text or email and instead responded to my requests for explanation of costs only by phone or in person, which I assume is because Kris wanted twist words to spin the narrative. To quote him, "Don't you remember me saying x, y, z." It genuinely felt like I was being gas-lighted and manipulated into feeling "wrong" for questioning their pricing and being upset that they charged me $400 for something I didn't need. I would never send someone to Phil's Undercar after the experience I had there. I'd suggest you avoid them like COVID-19. (Which their staff didn't seem to be bothered by enough to wear masks, by the way!)

I do not recommend this place. My 19 yr old son hired Bart to install a lift kit on his truck. He…read moregave him a good deal, since he's friends with his Dad. Problem is, that He did a shotty job. The truck was returned with ALL of the bolts finger tight. The truck caught fire while my son was driving it home, at 75mph on the expressway. Due to the Wheel Hub coming loose and shattered the bearings. My son struggled to put the fire out! He could have been KILLED. We got the opinion of 3 other master mechanics who all said this was due to improper install. My son had to fix the front driver side suspension costing him $600 in parts+ the tow not to mention the labor he put in. Then we take the truck for an alignment, and on our way home we hear and feel something is not right with the rear end.... ALL the bolts for the rear Control Arm are loose! My son reached out to the owner, Bart, after the first problem he had. The guy could have cared less, he told him that because he didn't charge him full price, and that they threw in a few bolts for free he thought they were even. I'm furious. We weren't expecting a full refund but we were expecting Bart to take accountability and do the right thing, such as covering all or even some of the extra expense to repair HIS mistakes. Considering this is how he handles business with so called friends, I don't recommend taking your vehicle to him.
