Before Hayden, we had to chase her around just to get her leash on. Walks were chaos. She barked at everyone and everything, and I was constantly terrified she'd bolt if the front door opened. The idea of taking her into a store? Absolutely not. Fast-forward just a few weeks, and she now comes when called, walks calmly, and genuinely seems happy and proud of herself. We've even taken her into Cabela's and Scheels--no barking, no pulling, nothing! And the fact that we were able to take her trick-or-treating and on hikes without a single issue still blows my mind. I thought that kind of progress would take months... yet it's only been five 30-minute lessons. You can't make this up. This dog mom is thrilled! And not just with our pup's progress--Hayden himself is fantastic. He's got this rare mix of calm confidence and deep expertise that makes every session click. He explains everything in short, digestible steps that actually stick (for both dogs and humans ). He's also been incredibly flexible with our schedule and super responsive whenever we've had questions or needed reassurance between lessons--something that meant a lot to us when investing in high-level training. Even after the first two sessions, the difference was so dramatic we joked we'd have been happy if it ended there. But now, five weeks in, I can't even imagine where Clementine will be in another month--the transformation has been unreal. Hayden genuinely cares--not just about the dogs, but about the owners too. As someone who struggles with anxiety, I can't overstate how much I appreciate his patient, kind, and professional energy. He's funny, easy to talk to, and somehow makes training feel like hanging out with a friend who's also a total dog-whispering genius. They have been so patient with Maggie, showing me how to handle situations peculiar to her. They have so many good ideas and methods for teaching both Maggie and me! I have done a…read morelot of training on my own and wasn't sure if there would be anything new in the beginner class for us but I thought just filling in the gaps would be good. I found a HUGE gap. My standard poodle got very reactive. This is because her first owner was a very elderly woman and I don't think Lucy got much of any socialization. She would just bark for really no reason other than she was seeing movement, etc. It wasn't really improving so the trainer (who had tried many things to help) asked some other trainers there to evaluate and offer suggestions. We came up with some things that were helping & were going to try an e-collar but I had mentioned that I had used a spray bottle with water once that was initially for my cat. Well, turns out this is just what my Lucy needed to get her to stop and think. By the end of the 8 weeks she was barking less than any other dog there! And her reactivity in general was much better than before even thinking about starting classes. Yes, they are volunteers who many of them have been doing dog training for over 20 years. You don't need to be a "professional" to train dogs. That's ridiculous! They are great people who love dogs and want to help others. In my class alone everyone on the last day gave lots of kudos to the instructor and were very grateful for the class. Lots of improvement was apparent!! Skip the big box store training classes and meet new people and help a non-profit organization who really cares and offers a lot to the community.

Each class includes a little bit of puppy playtime (usually at the beginning to get some of their energy out) followed by hands on training. You will learn skills in the class, but you have to practice then at home consistently if you want to be successful. They also give you handouts which are available online to reference. Our puppy still has a ways to go but he has learned a lot and so have we. They use positive reinforcement, no punishment, and they really help you to build a bond with your dog. Kelsey, the trainer, was amazing, as well as the rest of the staff assisting her. You can tell they all really love dogs and enjoy their job. I was a little nervous about trying to do a class during covid but it hasn't been an issue at all. The classroom is quite large and everyone wears masks and are more than 6 feet away. It's nice that they've taken more than the necessary precautions to make everyone feel safe. It was also nice to meet other puppies and puppy parents who are encountering the same difficulties you are. It's nice to know you're not alone! Having a puppy sometimes feels like having a newborn all over again and not knowing what the hell you're doing! :) They also offer puppy playtime sessions on Saturdays (I think on Sundays too sometimes). It's only $5 and a great way to socialize your puppy and wear them out. You get 3 free sessions when you sign up for a class and a few 1/2 off daycare dates with your class. There's also a retail store. They have treats, toys, food, harnesses, leashes, etc. In my opinion it's the best selection I've seen. Pet stores may carry more options, but these are more like "the best of the best" options. They seem very handpicked. Things that are really hard to find, you can find here. Our puppy loves the beef tendons, and they last him a long time unlike other treats/chews. They carry lots of other treats like cow ears, pork pizzles, beef tracheas, cow tails, bully sticks, etc. They will recommend products in class which I think is nice if you're a little lost, but never pushy about buying their products. I bought a snuffle mat from Amazon and that was a big mistake. He tore it up pretty easily, and just tipped it over to get all the food out, haha. So I was hesitant to try again, but calling all dogs make theirs in house so after "sampling" it in class, I thought it would be a good purchase. The fabric is much stronger and the mat is weighted so he can't pick it up. It's a great way to occupy him for a bit and calm him down. I'll definitely be back to buy more products/treats from them. I would highly highly recommend Calling All Dogs to anyone looking for puppy classes or even for their older dog. They offer some cool specialized classes like agility, scent work and tricks, which we plan on doing later. I haven't seen any other places with such a huge variety of classes. I hope you check it out, you won't regret it!

We started our puppy in Puppy Prep when he was 9 weeks old. Now he's almost 5 months old and recently started his second class, Wonder Pups. We look forward to enrolling our pup in agility training after he graduates Wonder Pups since he is such an athletic dog. All of the trainers and assistant trainers that we have met have been very nice and knowledgeable. Our puppy loves going to class, he especially loves the play times. There was a time I took my senior rottie in and they had to take him into the back and cut his nails and draw some blood and I could hear one of the techs in there talking to him like I would (like a baby) telling him he's doing so good and just being so sweet to him and I loved that I took him somewhere where they would treat my so loved dog the way I would.
