I took my dog to PetSmart West Jordan for a haircut, and the experience was not pleasant at all. The process took more than two hours, which felt excessive. On top of that, they left my dog's coat uneven and poorly cut, and to make matters worse, they injured one of her eyes. The place looks very small for the number of dogs they handle; it feels overcrowded and raises concerns. I have previously taken my dog to PetSmart Riverton, where they always do a great job with no issues. However, at this location, the experience was completely different and very disappointing. We scheduled a time to get our dog groomed at 12:30, we decided to stay around the area because they told us it would be about an hour hour and a half to complete his grooming. We drove back almost 2 hours later and they hadn't even started him. I fully understand running late. But 2 hours late is absolutely insane. So he has been in a crate in the back room, having the associates no damn well that he has anxiety for two hours. I would not recommend this business to anybody that actually values your dog's mental health, or your own damn time. This is ridiculous I will never take him here again. What is the point in scheduling a specific time to have your dog groomed if the groomers are not going to adhere to that time, again I understand running late but 2 hours is completely ridiculous. read more

I took my dogs for a bath. Upcharge $22 for conditioner for each dog and another upcharge $12 for teeth. Neither had conditioner on them. One of my dogs had poop all over him when I picked him up. The grooming salon was overbooked and it took 5 hours before they were ready. I've called customer service with no reply. Spoke to salon who offered a free bath but then took it back and offered half price. Very disappointing to spend $150 for wet dogs and one with poop on him when I picked them up. Went to get a fish. Victoria "helped" my 4 year old daughter and I. She was not very friendly, though, and tried to walk past us quickly without making eye contact. Then she acted like we were bothering her when I said, "When you get a second, could you help us"? "What do you need?" :| "...a fish..?" I knew exactly what kind of Oranda I wanted. But she wouldn't sell it to me, because she said my tank wasn't big enough. Isn't that my problem??? If I want to spend $7.99 on a fish, sell me the fish, and don't act like a jerk or grill me on my talk size. My daughter was very excited and happy to see the fish so she was excitedly going from tank to tank. I guess that irritated her and when my daughter got closer she said, "Excuse you!" This is totally unacceptable, and rudeness should not be tolerated. My daughter has great manners, and everyone tells me so. If you don't like children, you should not live in Utah!! On 12/14/2023 I took my dog to have his nails ground. On 1/6/24, I had to take my dog to an Urgent Care vet. The had to put him under anesthesia to perform a procedure. While he was anesthetized they trimmed his nails as a courtesy. The told me his nails were quite long and one of his dew claws was ingrown. This, after less than a month after the service at Petsmart shocked me. The vet said his nails had not been trimmed sufficiently and his dew claws had not been touched. I will never go to PetSmart again. They are hiring incompetent groomers and/or selling services they do not provide to unsuspecting pet owners. read more

I wasn't going to write anything, but the manager tonight was absolutely brainless. We took our dog to the grooming salon here a couple months ago and when we picked her up she was covered in pee from another dog peeing on her while she was waiting to be picked up! We called and complained and the manager we spoke to on the phone promised us a nice discount and some goodies, she said she left a note on our account for next time we came in. Tonight when we picked her up, the note was no where in the system. Apparently they got a new system and everything got wiped away. (When we dropped off our dog they had no record of her rabies shot even though we had been there fairly recently, luckily we had the papers in the car) We had to talk to a manager who said "It's your lucky day". Meaning he didn't believe our story and was saying it was our lucky day because they got a new system and couldn't see if we were lying. I wish they hadn't gotten a new system so this idiot could see that we weren't lying. They would've seen the note! He ended up giving us $6 off... We would've never come back to get our dog groomed here if we knew this is how we would be treated. Especially by management. read more

I've been bringing Sirius here for 8 years on/off when I'm in Utah. Today is the final straw. Because Sirius has hair, I've always brought shampoo and conditioner because whatever they use on him is garbage & it causes awful tangles & knots. Again, EIGHT years. Today I was told that they will no longer accept my shampoo/conditioner... well, unless it's Rx & then they'll use it IF I pay $10 extra. Allegedly they're under new management & this has 'always been the rule.' Uh, no. It hasn't. And I would know because my sense of smell is so off the charts, you could say I'm savant-like. Now my dog is being picked up because they were jerks about it. I'm beyond livid because of the waste of time, sheer stupidity and the fact that I've now got to make yet another appointment & pray I don't end up with a repeat of this situation. Between Wendy at another store giving Sirius a double ear infection & now this, I'm never giving them another chance. The location is convenient to my mum's house, but that's it. Don't take your dog here unless you don't care whether their needs will actually be met. The customer care is utter trash. (If Sirius' old groomer M'lyssa reads this, please let me know where you ended up after this store. They won't say & unlike the people who work there, you actually cared for & treated my dog well!) UPDATE: today, I called another Petsmart & asked if I could bring my own shampoo. The answer? YES. The other location simply said that, yes, I was welcome to bring Sirius' shampoo/conditioner. It just needed to be: 1. In the original bottles (it is.) 2. Could not be flee or tick shampoo (it isn't.) No mention of a fee. No claims of the other so-called 'policy.' No claims they couldn't help. Congratulations, Sierra. Way to lose a long time customer. I've also contacted Petsmart corporate & tweeted about this incident. I don't appreciate BS. This location is consistently good overall. Each time I stop by to get some dog food, a walk-in nail trim, or a Banfield check up it's pretty smooth sailing. The exceptions would be long lines at the checkout or needing to buy some fish. That's really about all. Some great things about PetSmart in general is that (1) they have honored competitor coupons before and (2) they regularly adopt cats and dogs. I actually got one of my dogs from this exact location thanks to such benevolent deeds. read more

DEFINITELY, THE WORST GROOMING EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! TRULY DISAPPOINTED!! :( Decided to take my dog here for a full grooming since they had an opening for the next day. When I got my dog back from his grooming appointment, they told my daughter that they could not accept him anymore for he had a situation with a groomer, they also told my daughter that they weren't going to report it, "I guess as a way for them to be nice and get away with this" but this never happened when we took him to the PetSmart at Taylorsville. They did not fully cut his hair, I saw some leftover uncut hair around his neck and chest area. He also got a small cut on one of the warts he has on his neck. Not only that he also has been licking himself a lot lately and I've seen a few little bugs on him, which he has never had before, until we got him back from his grooming at this Pet Smart. Big props to this Petsmart for hosting those massive super pet adoptions every six months or so. It's gotta be kind of a pain, but in the end the people come out and take home dogs to what will hopefully their forever home. Inside the store you've got all the usual suspects. Food, supplies, pet beds, bird cages, fish tanks, and so on and so on. Petsmart is the warehouse-esque cousin to the other big pet place in town, and they're all very similar. They used to be the only game in town that carried our pup's brand of food, but now it's a little more common so I spend less time at Petsmart. Still, though, it's fun to peruse the aisle with 43,000 kinds of dog treats, or 1.3M dog collars. read more

I have been to many PetSmarts over the years and have always experienced excellent, courtesy and helpful service, so I was shocked by the rude behavior I encountered at the 389 West 1830 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84115 ·Location today. Did you know that you must bring a sample of the water from your fish tank for testing in order to purchase a gold fish at this store? That is what the sales lady told me. I get it that my small children, ages 4 and 8, were excited about repopulating our fish tank after moving from California to Utah last week, and in her mind must have justified her rude behavior. We have successfully and happily included fish among our pets for most of a decade and I was able to respond affirmatively to the battery of quiz questions the saleslady posed. When you purchase fish, in the past have you been quizzed about the size of your tank, filter, heating and water treatment? I have never been asked these questions at any PetSmart over the years. I had answers, as an adult, to all of these questions, which must have frustrated the saleslady. So we ended with a refusal to sell my children and me to sell us a few gold fish unless we returned with a water sample from our tank. (By the way we treat the water with TopFin treatment purchased at another PetSmart.) I later called back the store to check if this was some Utah law I was unfamiliar with and the response was "we have never heard of such a thing." I just don't know what this interaction was about, but my opinion of PetSmart just went way down. Fortunately, there are several PetSmarts in Salt Lake City and I will just take my kids somewhere else on Saturday. Rude. Unhelpful. Snotty. Unprofessional. read more

I have been going to this grooming department now for several years and Bandit (Australian Shepard) and Cricket (Border Collie) have been seeing SIERRA all of this time. She is the BEST. You would have to have a lot of patience to groom these two especially Bandit. SIERRA is friendly, helpful, courteous and takes the time to answer all of my questions. I would definitely recommend SIERRA and this grooming salon. Also, when shopping I have never had a problem finding somebody on the floor to answer my inquiries. I never have to wait very long at check out and the cashiers are friendly and wonderful. I have been shopping here for at least 20 years. If I could I would rate this location with a 10! The staff is always eager to help, and are very knowledgeable when it comes to things you need for your little critters, and large monsters! It's a pet store. I am not overly impressed with this place nor is it the worst pet store I've been to. I think it could be a little cleaner then I remember, it's a pet store that people bring their peeing dogs to. They do have a large selection of dog, cat, rat, whatever foods. They also offer pet training here. I have not used those services so I couldn't say if they were great or not. I have used the groomer here before and it was meh. They pretty much just do what I do and it's a messy mess in that place. I would say borderline not sanitary to be clipping dogs potentially bleedy nails in. The girl working the few times I went into the groomer looked like she hated her job. I do continue to shop here because its close and convenient. Huge parking lot too so that's a plus. read more

This store has saved my life as a pet owner more than any other store around. They got me with their puppy package. I got a dog a couple of years ago, and petsmart was offering a big booklet with discounts for all the essentials to get you started with your dog. They put an effort in letting you know what the needs are. I also went to their training classes. I gotta say, Tawna, the dog trainer in this store is amazing. She taught my dog (and me) commands and useful tools to be a good pet parent. They have an on-site vet clinic (banfield) that I don't use so I can't review about it. They also have grooming and a huge variety of products and foods for not only dogs but any sort of pet you might have. Everyone is super nice. You can bring your pet with you to the store, and they might get a treat at the cashier at the end of the trip. I cannot recommend more this place and Tawna. Affordable and a huge variety. I'm suprised nobody has reveiwed this Petsmart yet. It's my default store for my little 12 pound pomeranian poodle pup. Always very clean, friendly staff, and prices are on point with all other pet stores. And 75% of the time i get the petsmart survey, where you take a quick online survery and you get $3 off your next visit. I also take my little monster to get groomed here. Insanely cheap in my opinion, however i'm mostly comparing to the $80+ grooming services I used to get in NYC. Here, it's $32 to give my dog the works - wash, hair cut, nails clipped, and ears cleaned. She always comes back looking good (but i'm not too picky and at at these prices, who is?) and without the burrs and matted chunks of fur she came in with. read more

It's an okay location in terms of shopping and grooming. The groomers do a "meh" job of grinding my chihuahua's nails and giving him a bath, but when I request teeth brushing, it's barely noticeable since he usually still has plaque on his teeth afterwards. Shopping is an okay experience. They usually have the things I need, and in my experience they help you quickly when you ask for fish. The worse part is waiting in the long lines (especially when you have a pup that can't stay still for more than 5 minutes), probably due to the fact that they never have more than two people at the registers. read more

The people at this Petsmart are super friendly and helpful. On several occasions, an employee has come up to moon over my pup which is very heartwarming. It's big and clean and easy to navigate. I like that the Banfield Pet Hospital is attached so I can easily pop in and get an appointment. This location is the premier pet supply hub of SLC. I wish they weren't consistently out of a few specialty products that I tend to gravitate towards but that is to be expected in a large high volume store so I can't fault them for that too much. The grooming lounge is also full of really sweet people offering a variety of pampering options at an affordable price. I REALLY love that they have in store adoptable pets and they even host big super adoptions in their parking lot a few times a year. Everyone here seems genuinely in love and concerned for our furry friends. If your'e mutt is gonna pull you around a pet store, it may as well be this one. read more

I'd always had relatively good experiences at this PetSmart until today, when an interaction with an ornery manager crossed the line. After spending about $400-$500 there on equipment for a reptile, there was one item that cost about $150 and kept malfunctioning. I had to exchange the item twice. When the third one was starting to have problems as well, I decided to just return the item. Now, this manager was there on the second time that I returned and exchanged the item like-for-like, and although she was a bit combative, she was reasonable, even granting me a 10% discount because the second one I'd bought had been sold to me as an open box item for 20% off. So I thought that I'd have no problem simply returning (not exchanging, I obviously don't want another one) the item when it started malfunctioning for a third time. I walked up to a very friendly cashier and began the return process. After a few minutes, the manager recognized me and ran over. "No, no, no!" she yelled at the top of her lungs in a very angry tone. It was very embarrassing, and I did not feel like a valued customer who had spent hundreds of dollars in that store. Other people who were standing in line stared at me and I was mortified. All for just attempting to get my money back for a broken product!! I couldn't believe it. After I calmly explained to her that I'd indeed had the item for less than 30 days and that I was not planning to purchase another one ever again, the manager begrudgingly allowed the friendly cashier to continue processing my return, and stormed off. In an apologetic tone, the cashier said something to the effect of "I don't know why she left, she still has to approve it," and sure enough, after making me wait for a moment, the manager came plodding back angrily to do just that. Obviously, this review will be enough for this manager to identify me in the future. I don't care; She has already done her very best to make me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable in the store. Congrats, you win. I won't be returning ever again. I live right next to a Petco, and If I by chance need something they only have at PetSmart, there are lots of other locations around here. I will happily drive for a few minutes and spend hundreds of dollars with one of them instead. I would recommend anyone considering a major purchase to do the same. read more

The groomers took 3 1/2 hours for a simple bath and nail trimming. I went in after waiting for 2 hours, and they said my dog would be done in 30 minutes. An hour and a half later I went in again and they told me they forgot to call me. If I was Petsmart, I would hold my employees to a higher standard. read more
