I had one visit. My doctor suggested occupational therapy for tendonitis, saying that 1-2 visits would give me exercises to strengthen my hand and wrist. The therapist kept asking me to agree to two visits a week for 6-8 weeks, despite my explaining what the doctor said. She marked on the form that they would treat swelling, loss of motion and a host of other things I told her I don't have. She finally stopped when I told her she wasn't listening to me and I was not signing the treatment plan. For $225 (none of which is in-network) the visit was supposed to be 60 minutes. It was 40. I broke my elbow and had surgery the end of December. I was a mess when I was referred to Michele. Today I have full mobility! Michele+ Nicole are amazing PT's and got me through this. If I could give 6 stars I would! I tore my UCL doing crossfit and after my surgery, I saw Michele to make me a two splints and begin my physical therapy. Since then, I have been seeing Joanna Spivack who is also amazing! She's fun, energetic, and also a great therapist! I have been making terrific progress with my recovery and am almost done with my therapy and its sad to say, I'm gonna miss Michele and Joanna. The office is clean and well stocked with training/ rehab "toys" and Joanna steadily increases the office-exercises and home-exercises each visit. Michelle and her staff are miracle workers. When I first went to see them in May, a few knuckles on both my hands were horribly swollen, and I woke every morning with so much pain and stiffness that ordinary, mundane tasks presented a challenge. After a few months of weekly visits, the inflammation is almost completely gone, my hand and wrist strength has improved exponentially, and I have almost no pain in my fingers. Michelle and Preston patiently guided me through a series of exercises and gradually built a routine for which they supplied both videos and written materials. Hand Therapy NYC is an absolutely wonderful place to get help when you have suffered an injury to your arm and/or hand. I broke my arm in February, 2018 and was a little concerned about the physical therapy I knew I would have to have. My concerns were allayed on my first visit with Nicole, who is excellent--professional, knowledgeable, friendly, easy-to-be-with and very reassuring about your progress. She said, 'We work up to the pain, we don't work through it.' I was terribly relieved! Because of complications in my hand and 2 more operations, my treatment lasted about 14 months, so it was substantial. However, spending the time with Nicole and the rest of the staff at Hand Therapy NYC made it all enjoyable. Michele has a great group of people--this is one of those places that really 'works'! I began working with Michelle In May of 2014 after I had a rotational osteotomy of the humorous. I had severe nerve damage at birth and recently discovered options to gain more mobility. My doctor highly recommended Michelle so I walked into Michelle's office very scared and nervous about beginning occupational therapy twice a week for the next three months. Michelle made the entire process and transition very smooth for me and was hands on in the entire process, making me comfortable enough to ask any kind of question I had and also making the one hour of therapy very enjoyable with different exercises each week and a great sense of humor! A few years ago, i got injured and, over the course of time, developed issues with my arm. Basically, I lost control in my arm because of a nerve injury. You can imagine how devastating and scary this was for a thirty year old. I went to a doctor who referred me to physical therapist who referred me to another p.t., etc. Within a course of a year, I saw 3 different p.t.s and o.t.s. They all said, "I've never seen a case like this! I don't know..." I cannot describe the feeling of helplessness that comes over you when the person you trust to help you heal acts like you're the only person in existence to ever deal with an issue. I felt like I was being told that there was no fix BUT I should still stay on a never ending wheel of treatment. Honestly, I feel like some therapists are fine with you just getting treatment forever. Sorry, that's how I feel and I'm not ok with that. At all. I'm a hopeful person and I believe that your body responds to the treatment you're getting AND the attitude/energy/confidence of your medical team. Needless to say, I didn't improve. So, I stopped going all together. Then, I found Michelle. To say that she is a breath of fresh air isn't giving her enough credit. She is an expert. After, she evaluated me, she was frank but utterly positive about my injury. I have enjoyed every session with her because she is funny, relatable and puts me at ease. Most importantly, my arm has improved more in my visits with her than it did over the years with the other therapists combined. I'm thrilled to say that the nerves in my arm are waking up. I remember thinking, "I know that I can regain control in my arm. I just have to find the right person to help me! I just need someone to believe that I can recover too!" I am so grateful for Michelle because she gives her clients hope. Anyone who has been through a sudden physical injury knows how difficult it is to navigate through it. And how, more than anything, you need to hear someone say, "Ok! I believe we can do this!" Expertise is necessary for the success of treatment. Compassion and humor are necessary for the experience of being treated. An encouraging demeanor and the ability to inspire hope is the intangible aspect thats NECESSARY for healing Michelle has all of these. I am so grateful to have found her. After my carpal tunnel surgery, my surgeon advised me to see a hand therapist. I did not get a recommendation, so selecting someone from a list was not easy. But I got lucky! I found Michelle Pasqualetto's name. I had a raised and sensitive scar which was generating pain to my wrist and made it difficult to open jars, turn a door knob, etc. At my first appointment, Michelle evaluated my condition and explained in detail what techniques and exercises we would do to relief the pain and improve motion endurance and strength to my right hand. At every one hour visit, she applied heat, ultrasound, massaged the scar and had me do a series of exercises. At the end of my therapy, I had no pain, I could turn my wrist in all directions, I could open anything and I could finally hold my favorite coffee mug. I miss my visits with Michelle. She is a good conversationalist, warm, sweet and down- to- earth. And most important, an excellent therapist who is very knowledgeable, competent and loves what she does.
