The ice cream is still great quality (when it's a proper serving) but there are a lot of location and staff issues that have gone downhill. -They never answer the phone anymore, nor do they return messages. -Online ordering randomly doesn't allow quarts which is what my family buys to take home, super annoying. -New location parking lot is shared with adjacent strip mall area and is a downgrade from prior location's private parking lot. -New location has one way street rules to enter and exit which are confusing and someone is always messing up or deliberately disobeying to cause chaos. -Staff is lazy and either deliberately cheats people or doesn't care about quality when they serve pints or quarts with none of the flavor components mixed in (I.e. Oreo was plain vanilla with virtually no cookie). For a long time Yelp has had this listed as "permanently closed" but they just moved across the street. I've reported to Yelp but they don't care and are/have been hurting this business as a result. read more

This place was an unexpected surprise for my Wife and I. My Wife ordered a raspberry sherbet that she thought was possibly the best she ever she's ever had. I went with a Hurricane, which is their version of a Dairy Queen Blizzard, and it may have ruined Blizzards for me. It's a soft serve vanilla ice cream with the ingredients of your choice. I went with Oreos, and I assumed I'd have just pulverized cookie bits. I was very happily surprised to see that they used actual Oreo cookies that they broke up and it was exceptional. The girl helping out was so patient with how many ever samples we wanted to try which was very much appreciated! All the chocolate flavors I tried were great, especially the dark chocolate ones! I got the chocolate peanut butter brownie because I love peanut butter cups and I'm glad I did. The peanut butter balanced out the sweetness from the chocolate perfectly, so goddamn delicious! I will say I did not enjoy the brownie bits as much. They were a little hard and too chewy. Just keep that in mind in case you want to get something with brownie bits in it. The Banana was also lovely, great for people that love fruity flavors. The outdoor seating is very spacious, neat and pretty peaceful despite being next to a road. One of the best ice creams i have ever had. The person who helped take my order recommended the graham central, and I saw the key lime pie flavor and figured the graham cracker flavor would suit eachother well. The icecream was super flavorful and full of chunks without being overwhelminly sweet. The key lime pie flavor was probably my favorite by a very thin margin. The ice cream itself was pleasantly tart and the graham cracker swirls were pleantiful and really took place of the graham cracker crust. Giving another shout-out to Handel's for handling their takeout option very well! How to order: Very simple user interface on their website - all you have to do is pick the flavors you want, and the time you'll be arriving at the store. *Note - more recently, their counters are now open, so folks will stand ~6 feet apart in the line for their orders, and you order at the counter. How they're handling takeout: All you need to do is sit in your car, as a server (in a face mask) comes up to your window and asks what the last name of your order is. Very simple process - then they just give you your ice cream in a paper bag, and you're off! Food: The ice cream is just as good as always, as I wrote in my previous review. Definitely my favorite ice cream spot on the main line - my favorite flavors include coffee chocolate chip and graham central station (ideally with fudge). Or anything chocolate, really. SO creamy. Still just as creamy during quarantine! Overall: Still 5/5 - I was very happy to be able to eat Handel's ice cream again! Handel's ice cream is perfect when you are craving something sweet. I've tried the birthday cake, pistachio, strawberry, and graham central station. I can totally see why graham central station is a crowd favorite! It has the perfect balance of crunch and cream. I did not like the birthday cake because it tasted a bit artificial. The pistachio was alright, but not the best I had. Lastly, the strawberry tasted like your average strawberry ice cream. But what makes this place great is the large serving size and variety in flavors. There is almost always a line no matter when you go. But, I would definitely recommend giving it a try if you haven't already. There are plenty of parking spots, but only a couple of benches. Handel's is good! I think it is exactly a 4/5 stars establishment. But as a self proclaimed ice cream scooping profesh with 5 years in the business, I think I am qualified to accurately rate an ice cream shop (ok, maybe I can be a little harsh as an ice cream scooper myself...but observant!!!). The young staff has always been incredibly friendly whenever I've been. I always make sure to leave them a tip for their hard work getting through the line. Usually when I go at night, I wait about 10 minutes in the line. I've never been on the weekend, but I imagine the line would be longer. I like the coffee chocolate chip flavor and that has become my go to. With sprinkles of course. That being said...I find it SO weird that there are no napkin dispensers outside. So make sure to ask for them!! I'd be willing to give anyone a prize that can eat ice cream without the help of a napkin. There isn't a lot of seating (and no tables at all). Handel's isn't great for the ambiance, but more for their ice cream, which has always been quite decent in my opinion. read more
