    1. They are open year round. 2.The chocolate is creamy and delicious. They really shine in this arena. 3. It's really nice portions of DELICIOUS in a cup or cone. Handel's is amazing. They just know how to make good ice cream. I find that their chocolate flavors are out of this world. Their fruit flavors are fine, but not the star. If you find yourself passing by, even in a snowstorm, do yourself a solid and stop in for a scoop. Or two. Or three. I'm not judging.

There was a short white guy that was extremely rude, I asked him a few questions as I'm trying to decide what kind of ice cream I should get and he seemed annoyed as if he hated working there. Get a new job if it's that bad 6:30pm 4/28/2023

Sadly I have to report...this is the best ice cream ever! I was skeptical after many north east Ohioans kept insisting it was "the best" , but I have to say it lived up to the hype! There were a ton and tons of flavors and variety of items. Everything was extremely reasonable in price. Ice cream tasted so fresh. The malt I got (chocolate malt flavor with caramel sauce mixed in) was huge (only one size). I found the service to be friendly and efficient. Can't wait to come back and try more flavors!

The ice cream itself is 5 stars but the service at the Youngstown location ( The Original) has really gone down hill.

Always get the four scoop sampler, as it's so difficult to settle for only one flavor.

Rip's Cafe is a bar in Struthers area well known for its Slovak/Polish food especially the "Hunky…read morePlatter." I very randomly discovered this bar while in the area (Youngstown). I was really craving Eastern European food that tastes like home. All of the Eastern European restaurants were closed on Sunday except Rip's. I wasn't expecting much to be honest and really liked my time here. AMBIANCE: Basic dive bar. Humble surroundings. Plenty of TV's at the bar. Dim space. While this ambiance is not usually my cup of tea, I felt very comfortable here. Regulars were very nice and welcoming. FOOD/DRINKS: I ordered a glass of Moscato ($4). The wine brand was Barefoot. I don't drink this tier of wine to be honest. But I understand that dive bars don't stock upscale wine. A glass of wine was good. I ordered a few appetizers - Pirohy (6 pierogis, $6.99), one stuffed cabbage ($8.99), and 2 haluski ($13.98). The food was excellent for a dive bar and in general. I am a very tough critic of the food from my part of the world - Eastern Europe. This food was delicious and well done. It didn't taste frozen, but rather homemade. Everything was well salted and had enough butter. I was especially impressed with haluski and ordered multiple orders. I felt like for appetizers the portions were generous. The bartender mentioned that Hunky Platter ($16.99) is a popular choice. It comes with one stuffed cabbage, three pirohy, and a side of halusky. Essentially, I ordered the same thing but in larger quantity. SERVICE: The service was super friendly considering this is a dive. The bartender ensured I was happy, suggested different dishes, and asked personal questions. It was very pleasant interaction. I'm not a dive gal, but I'll absolutely be returning. The food is absolutely delicious. It's like a hidden gem for quality dinner. I can't wait to experience other menu items next time. Go experience Hunky Platter, you'll love it!

I was out thrifting in Warren so I decided to give Cockeye Creamery a try after seeing it…read morerecommended by an online article. Located on the North side of Warren on 422 the Creamery is located in the parking lot of Cockey BBQ. The menu is a bit limited compared to most ice cream places, it has cones, dishes, sundaes (hot fudge only, milkshakes and ice cream sandwiches, plus hand packed pints and quarts. The variety comes from the variety of unique flavors of ice cream; I tried to get a picture of the flavors board, but the video screen was in the sun and was very hard to read. Service was nice, I got a sample of the Cornbread and Sorghum, which was unusual and very sweet. I ordered a dish with 3 scoops, which was a generous portion. All the ice creams were creamy, not too rich with good flavor, also the ice cream was served just at a great temperature, firm, but not solid so that the flavors really hit the palate. The Key Lime Pie was Key Lime ice cream with graham cracker and marshmallow creme, nice and balanced if not as tart as real key lime pie, but still tasty. The Kong, banana ice cream with graham crackers and mini buckeyes was great, the banana flavor was as good as I have had in an ice cream, not artificial at all. My favorite was the Andromeda, chocolate ice cream with brownie pieces and chocolate chips. The chocolate ice cream was the real star here, rich and chocolaty and not too sweet, this is what you want if you are a real chocoholic. Cockeye Creamery is concentrating on making great ice cream in some unique flavors, well worth a visit if you are in Warren and you want some high quality ice cream. Definitely worth a visit when you deserve a treat.

A Heartfelt Experience at Rita's…read more I had the absolute pleasure of visiting Rita's in Austin town Ohio last November for the first time! It it was much more than just a treat for my taste buds,it was a heartwarming experience! The employees here are not just friendly; they genuinely care about their customers' lives. Each interaction felt personal and meaningful, making me feel like part of a community. Now, let's talk about the treats! The Italian ice is nothing short of spectacular, but I have to give a special shoutout to the cotton candy! It's light, fluffy, and bursting with flavor--truly a nostalgic delight that brings out the kid in everyone. Every bite is a reminder of carefree summer days, and I can't get enough! The staff took the time to share their favorite flavors and made recommendations that were spot on. Their enthusiasm and passion for what they do shine brightly, and it's clear they put their heart into every scoop. The atmosphere is welcoming and cozy, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy your treats. My kids absolutely love it as do I if you have not been there you are truly missing out.
