Ian is great! I had a toilet that was leaking at the base, which ruined a few boards of flooring. He was able to repair the floor to perfection, and fix the root cause, a misaligned toilet. He had to trim a baseboard so the toilet fit properly, and he installed an upgraded gasket instead of the traditional wax ring. Thankful for his help. Much better option that coordinating with a plumber and a flooring person, and with outstanding results with less total cost. I'll definitely ask for Ian's help on my next project. read more

Hung a 30-pound mirror in drywall (no easy feat), put in a few screws into concrete to hang pictures from, installed bookcase overbalance protection hardware, and helped increase the water pressure in a sink (and gave me suggestions on how to fix it for the shower). Also was upfront if a task just was not doable due to limitations of the product at hand I had, or if the task might me get in trouble b/c it could be a renter's no-no (like forcefully removing part of a window). IAN IS A BRILLIANT& HONEST HANDYMAN! Ian has helped me out with large and small projects for 2 years. HE IS THE BEST! He is brilliant, fast, hard working and honest. VERY HONEST. He also calls you back and shows up when he says he will. I found him 2 years ago when I was having major drama because the men delivering my new dishwasher told me they could not get the old one out. They told me they had to rip my hard wood floor out. I got a second opinion from another handyman who said the same thing. FORTUNATELY, I got a third opinion from Ian. In two hours he had the old dishwasher ripped out, the new one in and the old one on the curb...all by himself. When all of the shelves in my garage fell down, he had the new ones I bought hung up in 2 hours. It was a big job and he did it alone and fast. My husband said it was the best $90 he had ever spent! That would have taken my husband all day and a few extra hands. Ian has hung blinds, painted, replaced a rotted post on our garden fence, installed a microwave, redone the grout in our bath tubs, installed baseboards, removed vertical blinds and hung sheers, electrical work.......the list goes on. Thanks Yelpers! We found Ian on Yelp and couldn't be happier. We called him to replace a screen door which he did easily and quickly. Then on a whim we asked if he knew anything about water fountains because the controller to ours had fallen apart. The fountain had been nonoperational for over 6 months and we couldn't find a replacement that worked and the landscaper that installed it has apparently gone out of business. The lock on my mobile home door went kaput and I thought I needed to replace my entire custom door since it's metal and the frame is really stressed and twisted where the hardware has been getting a workout. The door was installed in 1963 and has really been used hard. Ian called and squeezed me in at the end of his work day. He came over and quickly assessed the situation. He asked me if I was committed to a new door, or if I'd be happy if he just replaced the deadbolt. I happened to have a new lock kit, so he installed it and cleaned up the rough areas in less than 15 minutes. Really professional and polite. Ian Shaul is awesome! This young man moves at the speed of light, and you'd think going by an hourly rate, like others, he would drag the projects out. NOPE! He dismantled a daybed, ripped out the sliding closet doors and runners, took the heavy solid wood backdoor off it's hinges and shaved the bottom so it wouldn't scrape the floor anymore, and was able to reattach the bathroom towel rack which had been ripped out of the sheetrock very securely, all in less than an hour! Once my new carpet is in and I order new closets, I'll have him back to install those, and try to think up new projects, ha! He is very busy, and now I know why. I just had Ian to remove picture moulding in one bedroom and install a new crown moulding. He also prepared the walls for painting and he did many things on his own like undercoat all the raw plaster and install a wall coaxial with the fitting to replace the old wire which just came in from outside and looked so bad.
