This was a super fun activity to do with your friends or family! We recently went for a friends birthday and it was a blast! Our driver (Kevin) was great. However, we stopped at a bar and were told to go in, but they were closed so we just went in the bar next door and our driver had no idea/thought they were open. There were also supposed to be deals on drinks when you stop at the bars and this did not happen. Tips: -I would recommend limiting the stops to 1 bar. If you do stop, make it quick. It is honestly more fun to drive around and drink. -Make sure you pack enough to drink. We ended up drinking more than we thought we would. -Bring snacks! -Bring sunglasses. When the sun is setting it reflects off the buildings and is very bright in the summer. read more

I was looking up date ideas for my husband and I can came cross Handlebars Detroit. Love that there is an option to book individual seats, which is exactly what I did! It's a fun party with a bunch of strangers, which made it so much more fun! I was excited about exploring Detroit in a safe way and checking out a couple of bars. Our driver Ahmed was great! We followed the rules and he let us all get a little crazy and have fun. Our tour started off at the Tin Roof Bar. Parking is so easy! Just wait by the patio to check in. Ahmed went over the rules and let us know we would be stopping at 2 bars and one picture stop. Our first stop was the Detroit Shipping Company. While driving their, we got to see the rich architecture of the city while pedaling and drinking. We were given 20 mins to explore! The Detroit Shipping Company is pretty spacious so it was nice to have an outside area for Handlebar Detroit riders. There were drink specials too! Our next stop was a picture stop! It was pretty quick, so everyone in the group didn't get an opportunity to get a picture. Not the end of the world since we could drive back down to the area. We were a little bummed out that we only got to check out 1 bar when the FAQs and our tour guide said we would get to check out 2 bars. Not sure if this was because one group was late, but that was my only negative about the tour. read more

We had a team building event with five of our PVM Villages. Each manager brought their staff, it was a great experience and our driver Dallas was the best, so friendly and very informative, one of the managers had a sheet with the alphabet and we had to name something that had to do with Detroit. It was a great city tour. Bring your suggested play list there's wifi boom box for your music. You can bring your own snacks and drinks, no glass items. There's different tours you can ask for. The handlebar is a great little adventure that is a good team building exercise because you all have to pedal together. So If you like bike riding this is for you! You do have to hold on and keep your phones or drink in the cup holder! Remember we have Michigan roads that aren't fixed yet! Such a great time and had a great tour guide- NyAisa! Safe, informative and a great host. Made several timed stops, Tigers were out of town so the stops weren't packed and we weren't blocking any traffic. Got a good workout in too! Only needed to pedal up a hill and to start up at traffic lights but other than that, didn't need to pedal much if you're not up for it. They put our big Yeti cooler in the middle and we were able to grab our own drinks as needed. Highly recommend, much more fun than just walking downtown. read more

This was a fun experience, I had a better time then I was anticipating, so they did something right! Went for a friends bday on a warm Tuesday night. I can't remember our guides name, which is a bummer, because he was friendly and nice with a easy going personality. Good - Byob, so most people brought beer. Some tried to bring wine in a solo or other cup, that doesn't work so well, it splashes out. It is easy to peddle, even going uphill. There are several non-pedal seats and a few adjustable seats also, for short people like me. You can bring your own music and bluetooth it to their speakers, which we did. That made the activity much more fun. You stop at bars to have a break, get a drink, and use the bathroom. You get a tour of a small part of the city. Bad - Our guide asked us where we wanted to go - we named several places in the area, some dive bars that we are fond of and he said 'cool'. Then we took off, and he took us to none of those places. It seemed as if he had a pre-arranged set of places to go despite us saying - hey - aren't we going to xx. We went to Town Pump, which was ok but not on our list, Campus Martius, which no one liked and we didn't want to stay, we didn't want to get a $15 drink at Parc, and finally Broadway / The Well, also not on our list. So not sure what's up with that - if they have the same places they go to but ask and then just do what they want. The seats were not really that comfy - all of us agreed our backsides had had enough by the time we were done. Depending on where you sat you were either pedaling a lot or barely at all - the gear ratio from front to back means those in back are doing all the work - those in front are just spinning. But despite that - we still had fun - it was more about our group and listening to the music and just being silly on the bar/bike. Something different to do on a summer night. read more

So. Much. Fun!!! I will admit. When I was told we were going to spend the afternoon biking a car-peddle-thingy around Detroit I was like "why do I want to work out and drink at the same time"?!? But much to my surprise our group of 16 had the best afternoon. Our driver Carmen was amazing. She was super nice and took us on an awesome tour around the city. We packed the peddle bike full of drinks (no hard alcohol allowed), grabbed some snacks, and cranked up the perfect soundtrack. Very fun time, I went as part of a blogger event last night. Their website does say that to reach the "regular" pedals, you should be 5'3 or taller, but really I think it's like 5'6 - I'm almost 5'5 and had to use the "shortie" pedal seat. There are also a few seats where you don't pedal at all. Our Handler (??) was Jason and he was great, he definitely knows the city. We stopped at Checker Bar first, which had great sliders and sweet potato tots, then at Comerica for a photo op, then at Town Pump Tavern for our last stop. I'd definitely recommend HandleBar, I could see it being super fun with a group - the bike seats 16 people - maybe for a bachelorette party or even a birthday party. If only there were more stars! My sister-in-law and I hosted a group of friends this last Sunday on the bike bar with Vinny as our captain. This group was very diverse and after we all got okay with the fact that 70's and 80's music was best with this crowd, a GREAT time was had by all. Vinny was fantastic - very pleasant, showed us wonderful places downtown many of us had never seen before, stopped at all the best locations for a group picture. Fabulous communication and clear deadlines of the stops to ensure we were on time and he was not late to his next ride. Not to mention the fella's pretty funny. My entire experience with HandleBar Detroit was top notch from the moment I signed up. They kept me immediately informed as to what to expect, sent reminders to make sure we were prepared for the event. Made it easy to communicate with my crew This is one of those unique things to do in Detroit that will leave your guests with huge smiles on their faces, talking about the memories for weeks and gloating to their friends about the great time that was had. We're talking about making it an annual event. If it were a 10 star system on yelp, the only reason I would give them a 9 star rating is because there was no warning that we were just meeting in a parking lot - there is no brick and mortar location. The parking lot was very clearly marked and it does make sense - basically the bike pulls up, you saddle up, he checks your ID's and waiver status and off you go. As the hosts we arrived early and assumed we had to check in somewhere. No - it's all done on the bike. So if you do arrive early you can go to the Firebird Tavern to use the bathroom and have a pre-drink for 15% off. Highly HIGHLY recommend this fun outing for you and your favorite peeps. read more

Don't worry about the weather. The bokes have an awning and once you get going, you won't notice bad or good. We went on a wintery evening and that made it even more fun. In fact, I think perfectly sunny weather might take away from the adventure of it all. This is a great night out for team bonding, alumni outings, sales team promotion, etc.. and even on a weekend, you're only investing approx $25 a person. We decided to do a Sunday Funday Social Distanced Couples Bike Bar. Instead of filling the entire bike we had 4 couples and we had an absolute blast amid COVID-19.
