This is a very different approach to serving sushi, but in its novelty is an absolute pleasure. Firstly, the ambience is quite interesting. The entire restaurant is one large sushi bar in a semicircle almost like a hibachi with the exception that the shafts rather than put on showmanship actually create works of art right in front of us. And the works of art are edible and just wonderfully edible. I had only three different plates, but all three of them of sashimi something called a credo and sushi were all beyond good. They were excellent. And may I add absolutely beautiful in their presentation. The service is phenomenal rather than give directions to the sushi Chef directly there's a server who circulates takes orders and do an absolutely masterful job of serving and from what I could ascertain preparing drinks. I had a Japanese old-fashioned, which had a Japanese whiskey and redemption rye, and that was equally excellent. My criticism, of course, and I would have to add one is that there was no luxardo Sheree, which is the signature for me of an old-fashioned, but I think that a minor distraction. The balance of the old-fashioned between the Japanese whiskey and the rye was phenomenal. I can't even begin to describe adequately. What a wonderful experience it is, and I would encourage anyone who enjoys sushi to a very least try it out. It's great value for the money. The food was pretty decent for me and the flavor was on point, everything paired pretty well together. Each dish was beautifully presented. My friend and I tried the hamachi crudo, scallop crudo, and fatty tuna crisp. The service was great, everyone was friendly, attentive and made sure we were taken care of throughout our meal. Tried Handroll Social and got the 5 piece set with spicy yellowtail, salmon, spicy scallop, avocado, and fatty tuna. I also added the foie gras, unagi handroll, and baked lobster tempura. The 5 piece set was filling, but most of the handrolls had the stuffing falling out the other end when biting into them. Out of the set, the spicy scallop and fatty tuna were the best. The foie gras had the same issue where it fell apart, but the flavor was very good. The baked lobster tempura was a letdown. It felt too saucy and baked too long, so the meat came out dry. The unagi handroll had too much rice and not enough eel. Overall, it felt like they relied heavily on sauces, and most of the fish/meat was diced instead of standing out on its own. Some good flavors, but the texture and build of the handrolls could be better. read more

What an awesome gem right in Katy!! The atmosphere is very relaxing and up to par with other hand roll places within the city. Service was absolutely incredible with perfect recommendations from Lee. I consider myself a little bit of a sushi snob lol I love Uchi sushi. BUT...I absolutely loved the hamachi from here and dare I say it was better than Uchi?--it was. Everything we had was fresh! The spicy yellow tail hand roll was incredible. The soft shell crab was warm and full of flavor. The wagyu nigiri was cooked to perfection. We also tried the yuzu ice cream for desert which was topped with biscoff cookie--omg. Will definitely be coming back! Give this place a try, you don't be disappointed. read more

So happy they finally opened a sushi handroll in Katy!! Now I do not have to drive 45min+ to satisfy my craving. The biggest surprise was the yellow tail roll. Usually yellow tail is just a filler choice for me, something I will eat if it's part of a bundle. This was the first time actually enjoying it enough that I would order it al la carte. The fish tastes incredibly fresh, and the staff are wonderful. My only gripe is that some of the rolls could have a much better rice-to-fish ratio. read more

My son frequently eats sushi at Tobiuo's and I have grown to love it. We heard good things from our neighbor about this place and had to come try it for ourselves. The ambiance was modern and the lighting was perfect for an evening setting. All I can say is WOW.... the fish was fresh and we had an amazing evening. The young man behind the sushi bar was trying his hardest to serve me more simple dishes because I am quite picky toward raw fish. I forgot his name but he is the reason I am taking the time to write a review. The price was on the higher side, which is to be expected in a higher-end sushi restaurant but felt reasonable overall. This will not be our last time dining here. There is not much activity in this shopping center and seemed to be the only thing open during the evening hours. This made parking easy because we are always having trouble finding a spot in La Centera. Thanks to all of the staff for making our dinner one to remember! read more

Not very talkative and straight to the point (which I like). The rolls were bigger than expected and everything tasted really fresh. So delicious sooo yummy. I would actually choose this restaurant over Hando and Handies due to the fact that they have a larger selection of hand rolls appetizers, and small plates. This is some of the freshest sushi I've had in Katy. Technically they don't have sushi. Appetizers, Shashimi, and hand rolls. The menu is a little limited, but they knock it out of the park on what they have. The flavors are incredible. The service is great and it is the coolest place I've been in Katy.
