I have been coming to Tsukiji for years and have never had less than a wonderful experience. The atmosphere is very calming which is perfect for a solo date which I am quite fond of. In the photo provided I am enjoying the roll and sushi combo on their lunch menu. I ordered the half Long Island roll, eel and pepper tuna. I could've eaten an entire plate of the sushi. Came on a weekday during my lunch hour. We were seated promptly. Plenty of seating inside. The menu was extensive with lots of options! Our house salad and miso soup came out quickly and tasted great! However, this is where our great experience ends. I ordered sushi rolls (not pictured) and they were full of flavor. My co-worker ordered beef hibachi and she specifically ordered medium (a little bit of pink inside). There were other co-workers at the table who ordered bento boxes with well done beef. When my co-worker who ordered medium received her hibachi, she had pieces well done and realized it got mixed up. The well done bento box was medium. My coworker who received medium requested her well done meat, and the coworker who received well done requested the meat be medium. The owner or chef, not sure who, came out and opened each piece by hand of my coworkers meat to prove it was done medium. This is such unprofessional behavior. My coworker requested a new plate completely because now her food was being touched through and the owner continued to open the meat to prove a point. Came in for lunch on a random week day. I ordered the sushi/sashimi lunch special and my husband ordered a salmon bento box. I subbed the California roll for a rainbow roll and it was delightful. The sashimi pieces were thick but you could tell they'd been frozen as they were still hard in the middle and a couple pieces were a little fishy. Husband said the bento box was okay. I have been to this restaurant twice in the past week, no, I am not ashamed lol the first time I went with a friend and we just happened to stop by during a happy hour. Their happy hour is excellent. There are a large variety of rolls, appetizers, and other small plates to choose from, and it lasts from 3 to 6:30 PM (dine in only)! I enjoyed my experience both times. On both occasions it seem that they were a little short staffed. The first time I went there was only one server on the floor. No worries though, because she was working hard! She was very efficient bouncing from table to table, taking orders, and ensuring that customers had a good time. The second time I went, it took a minute for them to seat me (they were busy) but I was able to get a seat at the bar. Overall, I had a great experience and will definitely be back! Not to be confused with Tsunami Confusion, which is when climate change deniers can't understand why disasters are becoming 1,000 times more common these days. This is a good sushi place, it's not amazing. It's not my fave in Katy, but it's not bad at all, and not too overpriced either. The main 5 star element is the lovely service, as well as an innovative, if westernized, menu. We came in about an hour before closing on a Friday night. It wasn't super packed, just the right amount of people inside already. It was pretty dimly lit. The music was good and the anime drawings around the walls were a cool touch. We got the Shaggy Dog roll, the Pokémon roll and the 400 roll. We were surprised by the amount of pieces. 10 pieces each, which is usually 6-8 pieces. Everything was amazing. The shaggy dog was great, the 400 roll was fried and really good and the Pokémon roll had a nice sweet sauce that cut the taste of the crab in half. All the flavors just mixed really well together. We were in Katy checking out a furniture store and decided we wanted something a bit healthy-ish for dinner. We were searching Yelp for sushi places and Tsukiji came up with some amazing reviews, so we decided to give them a shot. We have a huge UHAUL with us so bonus points for a large parking lot right in front of the restaurant, basically in a strip mall type complex, like so many other places in Katy. We came pretty late on a Saturday, around 8pm, and was surprised how slow it was. The service was amazing - our orders came out super quick and they are very attentive. The restaurant itself was really nice, clean, and the booths, decor, etc gave it a nice appeal. We ordered a lot of food - some pieces of nigiri (1 per order), some pieces of sashimi (2 per order), a few rolls and the Nabeyaki udon. We also ordered the beef yakitori as well. Beef yakitori was just ok - beef drenched in sauce. It didn't taste like the beef was grilled over a charcoal fire - I didn't get any of the grill/charcoal taste to them. The sauce was fine - not too salty so made it ok. The beef was a little tough. Nigiri - we ordered a selected sample of pieces of nigiri. I thought the cuts were decent size, though they were served room temp. I like my sushi served cold - so this one tasted not as fresh. The fish was just ok - not the best quality fish I've had. The Toro sashimi was recommended to us by the server - she said they hadn't received any shipment of Toro in awhile. This one was not buttery and melts in your mouth like other Toros I've had. Was actually really disappointed in them and not worth the price. My Nabeyaki udon was also really really light in flavors. I wished there was more flavor to the broth. The noodles were cooked well. The broccoli was bland and just boiled, as were the chicken pieces. This noodle soup needed more flavors and elements to it. I've definitely had better noodle soup elsewhere. I can't say the food was good, though the service and the restaurant were pleasant. For $90 I think we could've had a better meal elsewhere. read more

My roll was so pungent and fishy I ate one bite, paid, and left. There were 3 diff sauces drizzled on top and undistinguishable contents inside. I have never encountered sushi this bad. Please... -Simplify your menu to THREE PAGES MAXIMUM! Focus on what is doable in regards to costs. I almost died. I went to have lunch today because I wanted a change from the office. I ordered the lunch special, which is always a great deal. However, it wasn't. As I was eating my hibachi steak with veggies and rice, I found myself chewing something sharp. I immediately pulled it out of my mouth, and to my surprise, it was a small piece of iron or, as the waitress said, a muscle shell. I honestly don't think it's a shell. So when I told the waitress of my new discovery, she acted as if it were normal to have something foreign in my food. AFTER 10 MINUTES of discussion, she finally went to talk to someone only to come back and say she would give me another plate.
