I contacted Handy Andy about a month before I needed to move and the scheduling process and quote process was super easy - they just looked at my home on Zillow to provide a quote. They were the lowest of the companies I contacted. For the amount of work they did for what they had to move it was definitely a good value. Outstanding does not do justice to the quality of the work performed by the team that Andy sent to my home in Bridgeville this morning. Amazing is too timid a word. Incredible comes a little closer but you should know that in the past thirty years we have moved more than twenty times and 19 of them have been stress (and sometimes terror) filled events and the last one was simply horrific. Andy's team not only showed up (EARLY!) but were polite, energetic and only too happy to keep me advised of any questions about special care needed for some pieces of artwork. It took two days for the California crew to unload us and place our belongings and my brother-in-law and I did much of the unloading. These 'work animals' stripped our Bridgeville 4 BR home in TWO HOURS! I never got to eat the lunch I had packed! We drove to Georgetown and they were out of here by 11:40 in the morning. A four bedroom, two story home packed out and moved in under four hours? Simply incredible. I'm still in shock. I'm telling you honestly that Andy's price was too low in our estimation but we accepted it gladly. And we tipped the hell out of the crew who honestly deserved even more than we gave them. We are just blown away by this company - he should go national and take Allied and the other national carriers down a peg or two. And a special shout out to Amber, Andy's alter-ego on the phone, who kept us updated and informed through the process. Well done, sir. Very well done indeed. read more

Moved from New Castle County, Delaware to Montgomery County, Pennsylvania last week. The bottom line is that the move was a pleasure - (if you can call moving a pleasure.) Andy and his team helped us out by doing a move on very short notice. Responding quickly to our call, his assistant, Megan, took note of our moving requirements and communicated with Andy to confirm details and to set the date and time for the move. They scheduled the date in Lewes, DE with only two days notice (something no other movers in the area could do) and communicated well with us every step of the way. At the scheduled time, Andy showed up with the truck and two others (Vinny and Andrew). They all worked quickly, but with care to move all items. They packed the truck well, so all our items would be safe. Once arriving at our home in Greenbackville, Virginia, they unloaded everything safely. We recently moved from Milton DE to Mechanicsville VA. We had a very quick close on our home and Andy Long was recommended to us as a local and long distance mover. Andy came out to estimate what we had going and size of crew needed. His entire crew was courteous, very polite and hard working. Everything that was moved was wrapped and handled as if it belonged personally to them. The team arrived early on a Friday morning and my entire 4 bedroom home was packed in approximately 2 hours. They drove to VA and unloaded everything, assembled all the beds and placed all boxes in neatly stacked rows that we can access and hopefully unpack soon. We had a local move from Milton to Lewes. The crew of six arrived around 7:30, they had everything loaded in the trucks by 8:22 and had everything unloaded by 9:30. They were a great bunch and were very efficient using an assembly line method rather than one box at a time. I had a great experience with this company. My mom used Andy for a move a couple of years ago and loved him so I asked him for a quote for a recent move from DC to Chicago. His rate was more economical than two other companies that we priced. The movers were prompt, respectful, and very easy to work with and Andy was super nice. I immediately trusted him. We gave him our stuff, a check for several grand, and the keys to our new house. He delivered everything days before we even arrived and everything was set up neatly in our new home when we got there. The poor guys even shoveled some of the snow when they got there. Handy Andy moved us three times In last 20 months. I can't say enough positive things about this moving company . They are courteous , careful and efficient. Andy himself supervised each move . The crew carefully wraps your furniture. ( included in the price) The crew consists of at least seven workers. They lay blankets on your pieces ( included in the price) On the day of all three moves they arrived on time. They laid blankets on my hard wood floors. They moved us into our storage unit and out of our units .They were careful and courteous. Andy keeps a watchful eye during the entire process. This is the AMAZING part. Our closing held up the transfer of funds from one bank to another for two hours . Although Andy had another job waiting, Andy kept his trucks in front of our new home waiting those two hours until we received the keys to our house. Andy and his crew moved us just 2 blocks away in Milton, DE. Of all the moves we have had, this one was the best. Andy arrived when he said he would and the crew was ready to go. They had us moved out in just 90 minutes, while still taking care of our belongings (including a piano!). They got us moved in about as quickly, with everything where it was supposed to be. Received a quote from Andy Long for a local move. He requested a typed list of furniture, boxes and other items. He declined a visit to our home to make a quote and gave us a fair quote based on the submitted list. However, on moving day when he arrived at our large home, he attempted to raise the price while standing in the street before he ever entered our home. We balked and demanded he honor the hourly rate--after all, if the job should take longer, we would have paid for more hours. Everything was moved into PODS and storage sheds as our new home was under construction. During the move, Andy and his men broke the glass top to our dining table. During the storage period, my husband became ill and died. When I finally had the items unpacked by other movers, I realized several items were missing. I contacted Andy to request replacement of the glass table top. His response was to say "you didn't use me to unload you" and then said he had "no memory of breaking a glass table top" and that "too much time had lapsed." I explained the delay in unloading due to my husband's illness. He was so unmoved! I then confronted him on the missing items and was told by him that "that never occurs" yet one of his employees told me that missing items was not unusual for Andy Long's team. Buyer beware! We heard about Handy Andy from some friends and hired them for a small furniture-moving project. They were on-time and worked very efficiently. They even hauled the couches we were getting rid of to a thrift shop. I can't really comment on price because I didn't bother to get multiple bids, but their price seemed reasonable.
