I had an oddball job involving a replacement oven that didn't quite fit into the existing cabinets (slightly too tall, and a good bit too narrow) and he helped me get the cabinets to fit back around it very well. It required some creativity to avoid turning it into an even larger job -- e.g. another company wanted to send two technicians, pull the whole oven out and spend four hours working on it, but with some creativity and care it took him just a bit over an hour, and the final product was excellent. Bill Bastian is TRULY the Handy Craftsman! I first employed Bill a few years back for several intricate projects in my previous home. One project in particular involved a long standing plumbing issue that several plumbers said could not be fixed. Bill thought outside of the box and came up with a solution. It was at that point I realized he was a very talented guy! Fast forward a few years and I'm now in a new home. Knowing I had Bill's talents at my disposal, I decided to take on the remodel of my master bathroom. After hiring a tile installer to handle the new flooring and tile surround, I then had Bill come in to set the new vanity, install the faucets for the sinks, tub, and shower, re-set the toilet, add new base molding, add a new door to the water closet, install new lighting over the mirrors, install new recessed lighting,and a new lighted van over the shower. Like Joe's comment below I had a terrible and costly experience. Bill completely ruined $6,000 worth of cabinets. My movers unscrewed wardrobe cabinets, made by CA Closets, and moved them from one room to another room and were in perfect shape for months. I figured they should be screwed to the wall so I called Bill. He brought an assistant and did not tell her the cabinets were not screwed to the wall. She moved the cabinet, it came crashing down and broke in half. CA Closets could not fix them because they discontinued the color. $6,000 down the drain thanks to Bill. read more

Bill provided an email quote, scheduled an appointment, called the day before to confirm, and showed up on time. Right there he did more than 90% of contractors. In our condo, he installed a ceiling fan, fixed a door, and fixed a bathtub. The bathtub he fixed in 20 minutes which another handyman quoted me 4 hours. Bill's hourly rate was reasonable and he finished according to his estimate. He also chatted with my baby and petted my dog. Hello! This is my 3rd posting ever. I've gone through 2 handymen before Bill and the first thing I noticed about Bill is that he really took the time to make sure things were done right. Examples: A light fixture needed replacing. He noticed that the fixture was not installed correctly (initially from previous work of someone else) and he fixed this for me in addition to changing the lightbulb - he didn't cut corners and I've seen a few handymen do that. I liked how he was exact and you could see it in the outcome. He hung a large picture for me in a very high up place with an angled ceiling - it was perfectly centered. I won't go on, there is more. Bottom line is that he's hired and I'll be calling him back again. I'm so excited to finally find a handyman who is professional, knows what he's doing, and has a good sense of humor. I am extremely pleased with my whole experience. It's very rare that I am able to say that! I called Bill on Saturday and he answered right away. He was available Monday (today) which was fantastic because my house was in disarray. We decided to start at 8:30a & that is exactly the time Bill arrived at my door. I've had a lot of people in the past show up late, take excessive breaks, go on hour and a half Home Depot trips etc but today was all focused & efficient work. It is so nice to feel like it was money well spent at the end of a workday. Bill is smart and hard working. I only had to show him what I wanted done once. He was friendly and upbeat throughout the day despite having to put together the most tedious chandelier I've ever seen (with almost no instructions).
