They do a great job prepping the surfaces so that after the paint goes on, the rooms and the exterior of the house look brand new. They clean up at the end of each day, especially on the last day when they are done. While the job is going on, they are good about sealing off the areas that are being prepped so the dust does not get all over the house. In addition, Jeremias, and everyone from JC Carpentry and Painting, have been very nice to interact with. I saw a couple negative reviews on this site--definitely must be a case of mixing them up with a company with a similar name. I would highly recommend them for interior painting, exterior painting, and carpentry work.

Ian took the time to talk on the phone when I first reached out about the project and the scope of work. He even reviewed some drawings I had done of the space and pointed out some things to think about for the layout (such as if we moved the fridge, we'd have to make sure we could access a water line for the ice maker). Ian met with us at the house to talk about the project, and we engaged Ian and IDR shortly thereafter. All told, the renovation took about 4 weeks, which was a great timeline and we are very pleased with how it came out. Ian was responsive, polite, and overall a pleasure to work with, and his subcontractors were polite, unobtrusive and cleaned up each day. We were fortunate in that we had a clear vision of what we wanted (which made the design process easy), but Ian truly helped bring that vision to life and thought of ways to make it better that we hadn't thought of, all while never being pushy or disrespectful. Bruno may not mean to scam you, but he will take your money and then do nothing for months. He will not apply for permits, and he will tell you your town/city is the problem. He will blame every delay or broken promise on circumstances outside of his own control. During that time, he will use your money to finish his other projects or (probably) pay his other bills. If you ask for your money back, he will tell you he has bought materials but never provide any proof. If you call Bruno out for his poor performance, he will gaslight you and again blame everyone but himself, including you. I decided to work with Bruno despite a few bad reviews. I figured everyone makes mistakes. But when Bruno makes them, he will not make them right. The only reason I have not pursued a lawsuit against him is that lawyers cost money and Bruno has a history of not paying the settlements against him. It's possible that Bruno has improved his business practices in the year since we last interacted, but I wouldn't bet on it. Neither should you.

From unreturned calls to quotes almost double of others to no show appointments, we were quite discouraged by the service and response from several companies (we probably contacted 8 or more inclusive of this one). In fact, some companies even came to our house, but never sent out quotes. The pursuit reminded me of dating with Mr. Wrong standing you up, etc. Anyhow, John, the owner of this company, was responsive and his quote was the most competitive of the few we did manage to obtain so we decided to go with WJ Skouras. We were skeptical as his price was so much lower, but we took a gamble. Ever since the house has been painted, we have neighbors and strangers alike tell us how good our house looks. Mind you, the paint was peeling and the house was a boring white before, but we have never gotten so many compliments on our house. It is no longer the ugliest house on the block and it's hard not to feel like a proud homeowner when you are walking the dog and random people tell you how great the house looks. The painters were able to chip away the old paint in one day and then finish painting the ENTIRE exterior of the house on another day. Not to mention, it was almost 100 degrees both days, but the three workers slaved away and got the job done. They not only did the house and the trim, but they freshened up our railings, our front door, and the trim on a shed in the backyard as bonuses and upon the suggestion of John. The workers were sweating through the job, but never complained. It was crazy, but they never even asked to use the bathroom. I offered them water constantly, but they refused although they did happily accept some popsicles towards the end of their day. We were excited when the job was done, but disappointed in all of the chipped paint that was disposed of in our front and backyards. Since neither my husband nor I are confrontational, we resigned ourselves to the fact that we would have to clean up the mess ourselves. However, just like he consulted with us in person prior to the project, John came back the day after the job was completed to check on his crew's work. He also noticed the chipped paint and had his workers return the following day with a supervisor to clean up the debris and to touch up some spots they missed. We were so amazed at John's attention to detail. I am typically a perfectionist and even I did not notice the few spots he did. We are grateful that we have a beautiful paint job and that it was affordable. Thanks John! We already have some neighbors jotting down your phone number for their own paint projects.
