After years of suffering with my feet, I FINALLY got approved for diabetic shoes. I went to Hanger in Downey and Delwin handmade my shoes for me right there in the office, and it only took two weeks. At first, I thought they were not sized right, that there was something off, but Delwin, that wizard, taught me that I wasn't walking correctly, and kept squishing my toes into the shoes instead of walking heel to toe. I'd been walking wrong my whole life! I don't know what these negative reviewers are talking about. The office staff are pleasant and professional and even though I was 15 minutes late for my appointment, I was still able to get in to see Delwin. Now, with my new, custom-made shoes, I have better balance, I don't get as exhausted doing simple things around the house, and I don't fall anymore. Hanger changed my life for the better. This place is by far the most not patient friendly clinic you could ever visit... And I think most of this starts at this extremely rude, no manners, receptionist, named Maria. Someone needs to teach this girl some Customer service skills because she has none. She's rude and short with patients, making it extremely difficult to schedule appointments. I ordered my orthotics here three months ago and she said "I don't know when they will come in, they take a while" and said she was going to call me when they were ready but of course she did not and I finally followed up with them three months later only to find they had been here... This is the absolute worst place you could go! The customer service is a joke! The receptionist is very rude and short on the phone if you even get to talk to her. And she has no answers or help for you at all. Otherwise it's an answering service that never gives them the message and you never get a call back. Very frustrating experience so far. It's almost impossible to reach the clinic by phone or text. You get transferred to an "answering service" and they do NOT forward your messages. I might have to drive there from Long Beach to find out what's happening with my orthotics which were not delivered when promised, and there's no word on when they might arrive. So our old clinic closed,and had to switch here. They are horrible, took my own prescription for my son from his physician. Notes the therapist of what she wanted, keep in mind our appointment was in November. We are in March and we have not yet received our product because they had to do their own prescription. Not impressed so far! I haven't even got to schedule my appointment yet and at first my referral was mostly wrong. When Hangers contacted with AltaMed they gave them the Hanger Prosthetics & Orthotics Downey. Apparently they never to them that Orthotics is done at Hanger Clinic side. So I called the Prosthetics side on Wednesday the 28th of September and the representative tell me they don't have it and to call my doctor and ask them to fax it to them. Thursday, September 29th, I call AltaMed and they fax it again as they sent it on the 26th of September. So I call again on Thursday and they put me on hold only to have their answering system to keep hanging up on me 4 times. You would think they might want to get that fixed. When someone FINALLY answers they inform me that I have the wrong number. Mind you this was not told to me the day before when I called. I get the new number and call only to have their answering system hang up on me two times. I FINALLY get someone there and they tell me they don't have my referral and to call my doctor to send it. I told her that they did only to the wrong office cause that is what was on the referral. I ask why can't you just get it from that office and was informed that they can't due to confidentiality. I call AltaMed and explained this to them so they faxed it to the new fax number and said to check at about 5 minutes before closing to make sure they got it. Called at 4:55 pm only to get the answer service after being on hold for 10 minutes and they can't help me!!! Such a waste of time. I have worked offices for OVER 30 YEARS and can't believe the the undertrained staff they use. I truly miss the days when people actually knew how to do their job CORRECTLY!!!! Horrible service- I did small service with them almost 2 years ago (covered through the insurance). Suddenly now I get email from some payment service that I owe them close to $600... I used the email I had on file and contacted the clinic. They answered my email (!) but said I have to pay (!) and refused to give me any details- why, for what, since when etc. I sent them few emails and they refused to give more details. I called the hanger clinic headquarters in Texas- they said its system glitch and I should ignore it... Just don't deal with this location if you can- bad communication and service. read more

I was scheduling an appointment for my mother, and I was never able to get anyone to answer the phone. I called multiple time over two day, and left messages through their phone answering service. Never received a call back. Frustrated I just called the Hanger (Lakewood Location answered the phone on the first call) and asked them to transfer the order. She was able to not only get speak to a person/schedule an appointment, but also has been into the clinic already. Almost two weeks later this location calls back, and sent a letter to schedule an appointment. I call back to attempt to sort this out, and surprise no one answered the phone. Skip this location. Use either Downtown, or Lakewood for actual customer service/medical assistance. read more

Worts service ever by front desk personal! Try to cancel an appt over the phone was on hold for more than 20 min. I finally hang up. Had to drive to the place just to change the appt. it took her for ever just to find a new appt. according to her all the personal is on meeting every Monday, Tuesday, wed.. so when are they available to see patients ??? I am definitely writing to my insurance company and complain about this company services. The phone kept blinking to ring tone.? No wonder they never picked up the phone when I called. Very bad customer service. I was on hold for 15 minutes and was continuously being told I was first in line when suddenly they hung up on me. Personally I think everyone is told they are first in line. I called back and was again on hold. It doesn't seem like one is able to talk to a CS rep unless being first being put on hold. Horrible customer service. I have been dealing with them since 4/2021 and it has been a mess. I got measured for my orthotics in April 2021. A few weeks later I was happy to see if the inserts fit, unfortunately the left insert fit perfect whereas the right foot hurt my heel. I followed advise and attempted to try them out, I tried it out for 4 hours, and gradually increased the hours during the week. Since there was no improvement, I further examined the insert and realized the problem was a simple fix. The manufacture did not have enough fabric cushion to cover the hard plastic that creates the sole of the shoe inserts. I scheduled an appointment pointed out the simple fix to the provider Aimee in hopes on returning it to the manufacturer to replace or redo fabric cover. Instead, she insisted she can fix it in office. Instead of replacing the fabric cover, she decided to saw down the plastic. The problem the plastic was cut too low and cause my heel to wiggle around in the shoe. I asked again right then and there, I would rather you please just send the insole back to create a new one because now it feels worse. Again she insists I keep it and try it out. Against my will I walked out with the orthotics unhappy. So finally, I complained and asked why she insists on me keeping the inserts instead of sending it out like I originally asked. I would have been fine with her doing the repairs in office if she repaired the fabric but instead she cut down the heel. FINALLY, she sends the shoe insert back. Nearly 1 month later, I receive the new insert try it on, again she insisted on doing something else then what I asked for! She added two layers to the insert when all I needed was one. Now the shoe is too high making it too tight for my high arches! 1. I wanted one thing through this entire process for the one layer of fabric to completely cover the plastic insole. 2. She cut the insole instead of replacing the fabric. 3. She had an additional layer added to the insole, instead of just repair the one I asked for. The problem is not the insole anymore but your lack of customer service, listen to the customer! I just wanted the single layer insole to properly cover the sole. I am sure she meant well. But she has no accountability. To add insult to injury they did not call me when the insert came back in. read more

Yelp definitely needs to put a zero star option for this place. Stay far and clear of Hanger!!! They only care about money. They made me sign off on my leg before I even seen it. I asked him about a pin lock system and he just ignored me. Not once or twice but at least 30 times... My stump is only 10 cm so I knew I needed a pin lock system. Obviously I knew more than he did because he gave me this junk that Hurts like hell & I'll never be able to use... I'm now walking on a $149 iWalk crutch that works better than the $60,000 prosthetic that they forced on me. It's been five years and the only time they have ever called me was to see if I wanted to go to the stupid seminar. Never once did they call me to ask how my leg was working out for me. Nor do they care. They have pictures on the walls of dolphins with prosthetic fins to make you think they're a great place. You think yourself "Gee, if they can make prosthetic fins for dolphins, they should be able to make me a leg no problem." right!??? No such luck... They just shovel out the crapas fast as they can. Do yourself a huge favor and stay away from this place and anyone they are affiliated with. You'll be saving yourself a big headache, years of pain and anguish & tons of money! read more

Took them 4 months to order my diabetic shoes- when they said they finally got my shoes- I went in and they tried to give me another pair that I did not order. The office staff is unprofessional and they make you wait a long time before they serve you. When you complain about their service they act like you are doing something wrong. I asked for my co-pay to be refunded since I no longer wanted the shoes- because I no longer wanted to deal with them. They said it was a process and I had to sit and wait- while no one was in the office and there was 5 people behind the desk eating. They can keep the money- I truly hate this place! WELL after my experience with HANGAR and attempts to make an appointment in DOWNEY is exactly as these 3 reviews state/ worse clinic, unprofessional staff- to make appointment, etc/ SO last year I had Diabetic shoes and 3 pairs each year orthodics as MEDICARE approves! HAGAR made 1 pair, shipped me later 2 pairs! ALL money made from orthodic supports ! Like $260 for 3 just rubber, glued together othodiics/ this is pure profits!. SHoes just commissions! THIS was in COVINA, a 15 mile drive on way! I was out there 3 times! THE shoes were to stretched/ took 2 or more attempts to do! FIRST the wrong shoes were orderd, this was discovered my 2nd visit there, and had to be reordered! Correct shoes, ordered in W and WW/ to make sure of fit, W is my fit! So then a 3rd trip to pcikup shoes! Orthodics only 1 of 3 made! SO they had to ship them to me! SO HANGAR closes all Diabetic SHoe outlets except Ontario and Downey! If I could give this place zero stars I definitely would. Unprofessional staff specially Claudia the receptionist who doesn't know how to correctly give appointments. I called for my mom to set up her appointment after receiving a call that her shoes are ready. Spoke with Claudia on a Wednesday gave me appointment for Monday at 1pm after I couldn't take a the next day appointment for Thursday. I took my mom I stayed in the car with my 2 year old son , she signed in 1 hour later she is told she doesn't have an appointment and she will not be seen that day. When I went inside to clear the situation with out knowing I was speaking with Claudia she said it was impossible I would have gotten a appointment for that day at 1 since another appointment was booked yet there was absolutely no appointment booked for my mom. I am not responsible for their schedule if they don't know how to correctly input a appointment in their system they should not be working there wasting people time. There is sick people coming to there clinic they should not have mediocre staff. When I ask to speak with the manager or supervisor Claudia looks around and then answers she's not here today. Really you had to look around at the wall to answer that had to ask twice for the name then she says Sandy.
