Having finally admitted we are getting older, we decided to have a stairlift installed. A good friend had used Gamburd to install her stairlift, so we called them. Israel was incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. He used FaceTime to get all the details: measurements, number of stairs, etc., and sent us a very reasonable estimate while we were still online. The great part is that he was able to schedule installation in less than a week. German Ceja came this morning, and was done in less than three hours. German was great! He went over all the necessary items, like how to ride the stairlift (no placing your full weight on the footrest, how to charge the stairlift, etc.) If anyone is thinking of putting in a stairlift, please call Gamburd. They are the absolute best. read more

We purchased 2 chair lifts from Lifeway Mobility and paid a hefty $50k due to a knee injury and doctor's recommendations. At the time, it seemed like the only option having just bought a stacked home with 2 flights of stairs. We waited about 6 months for them to be built and installed. About a year later, one of them started to malfunction. We called several times, often with difficulty getting through. We spent time with customer service diligently trouble shooting, cleaning as recommended and requesting service. 4 times, the same repair person was sent out, was there for about 15 minutes and then said he'd the unit was fixed and that we needed to do a better job cleaning the unit. But almost as soon as he'd leave, the unit would start beeping loudly again. We were told that the unit was out of warranty and so needed to pay for the servicing. First we were asked to pay $400 and then they company agreed to let us pay $200. Today, we had a different technician come out who found that there was something actually wrong with some of the parts which would need replacing - luckily these were under the 2 year parts warranty. Hopefully this will fix it for good. When you pay this much for a product, it shouldn't break down that quickly - especially since we barely use the lift. What's clear is that we're having to pay for faulty equipment and installation. If you need to purchase chair lifts, make sure to go with a company that has warranty of at least 5 years. This is ridiculous. * Wanted to respond to the "business manager's" response below: We were told that there is a lifetime warranty on parts - that's one of the reasons we felt confident to make the purchase. However, there was no mention that this was only for outdoor units. This should be clarified at the time of purchase - especially since most people have indoor units. You can imagine our shock to find out that the warranty is actually only one year for service and 2 years for parts. read more

Gamburd installed our stairlift breaks down constantly and the repair cost is $300 for the visit alone before they tack on insane parts prices. They damaged out stairs when they installed the stairlift and pretend like it was already damaged. The technician they sent for the last repair was named German and he sat outside my home after the work was done twiddling a stick in the dirt while screeching the n word into his phone during a heated exchange with someone. after he left I noticed he had drawn a swastika into the dirt with that stick. The stairlift is still getting stuck on the stairs today so it is unsafe to use. We have reached out to Bruno for a new repair company. read more

We got a quote from Israel Gamburd (yes, the owner) and we decided to have the stairlift installed without checking other company quotes. Our mistake. The stairlift he sold us with a custom quote was $500 more expensive than one of their competitors and $150 more expensive than our neighbor who got the same exact model a month before, both new and both straight rails. The cherry on top is the stairlift kept breaking to the point where we got sick of paying Gamburd or lifeway or whatever they are card hundreds of dollars per visit. We called Bruno and they directed us to another company that was far more professional. After the new company checked the stairlift they found that the technicians did not install it properly and failed to add certain screws and guides needed for proper functioning, exactly what was causing our issues that were being blamed on "misuse" according to Israel Gamburd and Ron Jones. We were looking to find someone to put grab bars in my Mom's shower. With the tile, we were nervous to go with just anyone. Gamburd was a little cheaper than the handymen I reached out to AND they included the grab bars. We had a small mix up where no one showed for our first appointment but I'm so glad that they didn't deter us from making the second one. Jessica was extremely apologetic for the mixup, got us on the schedule and was responsive to emails. When Frank and Luis showed up we knew that we were in good hands. My parents have a multi-level house, with the master bedroom the only room on the bottom floor, so after my father's massive stroke he was never able to leave his bedroom. I had to hire medical transport to get him up the stairs for medical appointments, so we contacted Gamburd about installing a ramp up the stairs to the garage one level up. When Gamburd's David Hernandez came to the house to prepare a quote for installing a ramp, he suggested we install a stair lift instead. We didn't think it was possible with the way the stairs are configured, but David assured us it was possible and could be custom built to stop on each of the five levels. The installation went smoothly and the installer was very kind to my elderly parents, patiently explaining everything. The quality of the chair itself is higher than I would've expected. I tried it myself and it's very comfortable and secure. The work was beautifully done and the track blends nicely with our décor. Best of all, for the first time in a year, my father has been able to leave his bedroom and get upstairs to the other rooms in his house. When he first tried it, he rode up and stopped on the front door landing. We opened the front door and he sat there feeling the breeze on his face and staring at the world outside for a good twenty minutes. I can't imagine what it would be like to not see anything for a year outside hospitals, his caregivers, and his room full of medical supplies. This is such a significant improvement to my father's quality of life, and now he's more motivated to strengthen his legs so he can get to the lift when there aren't two people to put him in it. A few days after the lift was installed, my father stood up by his own power for the first time since his stroke a year ago! David and Gamburd have been a real blessing to my father and to my family. This is a great company with a great product. Beats the competition hands down. From initial discussions with Manny, to the finished installation, our custom chair-lift track gracefully winds and curves up the stairway to the second floor... seeming to appear like an installed work of art. Everyone who has seen it comments on how beautiful it looks. And it works flawlessly. This far exceeded our expectations, and we are very happy with it. Additionally, we needed two ramps installed so I could get out of the house in my wheelchair. One was double-sided using rubber ramps up and over the doorway from the kitchen to the patio. The second was a larger aluminum ramp going from the patio to the outside walkway. The kitchen door one was tricky and required a couple of visits by the installer. In the end, the company was committed to do whatever it took to provide a "finished" installation, and so it was! Professionalism all the way and great customer service. Gamburd and his crew worked with us to find a solution for our growing son who has had multiple seizures a day. His falls can kill him. We considered padded walls and eventually decided on a ceiling tracking system. My son gets in a harness and can walk wherever he wants in the bathroom without someone standing by his side. The ironic part to this yelp review is that our stairlift setup is featured as Lifeway's main photos. Unfortunately, I am forced to give this company a 1 star review. Not only was the woman on the phone completely rude with me, but how is a 2 day turnaround time for service acceptable? It's clear that the need for same day service is needed in this type of business. Why are there not service appointments saved for same day repair when now my grandma is not able to get to her bedroom for 2 days now? Do you propose that she sleeps on the couch? It's unacceptable and terrible practice. She is in no condition to walk up the stairs, even guided - she already fell down these stairs once and broke her neck - I'm not willing to let that happen again, but from this company, it seems that they are. Excellent, professional work to create an accessible bathroom Gamburd recently completed an extensive renovation of our master bathroom in our 1-story house to make it safe and accessible as we age. They removed a small oval bathtub, created a new curbless shower that can be used with a wheelchair, removed a dark "closet" around the toilet and installed grab bars next to the toilet and in the shower area. The slab floor in our house is post-tensioned concrete, which requires special techniques to prevent floor damage and worker injury. They also did a minor update (floor tile and countertops) in the kitchen. We are 100% pleased with the results and the process, from start to finish. We had talked to a few contractors and were not encouraged. Then one day, we saw a truck on the freeway that said, "Gamburd Inc.... Accessible bathrooms." We looked them up online and found a company that specializes in home modifications to accommodate disability--stair chairs, ramps, grab bars, and curbless showers! Their license checked out with the Contractors' State License Board. Their knowledgeable salesman David measured the room and drafted proposed computer layouts. We visited their showroom in Pacoima, where we discussed our needs and ideas with owner Israel Gamburd. Our positive impression was confirmed by a very happy client whose house Gamburd had remodeled to accommodate a paraplegic family member. Gamburd sent us a written quote; then, Israel, David, and construction foreman Juan H visited us to go over the quote and clarify details about what we wanted. When we signed the final bid, including a detailed cost breakdown and payment schedule, we were confident we were in the right hands. Nearly all work was done by Gamburd employees; a stone fabricator hired by Gamburd did the countertops. Gamburd obtained the building permit and managed city inspections. Our project lead was Irwin, who coordinated closely with Juan H; the Gamburd team also included Sergio, Manny, Miguel, Juan L, Rudy, and Jose, each with special skills. Work started with a full day of preparation, placing protective Ramboard on the floors throughout the house and plastic Zipwalls to contain dust from the work. From then on, at least 2 workers were here every day during the 7-week project. They worked hard, minimized disruption, and kept us informed of what to expect. The Schluter products they installed worked perfectly to leakproof the shower area and ensure proper drainage. The city inspector told us we had a good contractor, and we passed all inspections without modifications. Irwin and Juan H consulted with us frequently on many issues--heights of the counters, shower bench and grab bars, placement of medicine cabinets and electrical fixtures, the pattern of tile installation. Communication, teamwork, and craftsmanship were always excellent. At the end of the project, the only added costs were minor, for unplanned electrical work required to correct problems with the original house wiring and for installing new floor tile in the laundry room at our request, not part of the original project. Bottom line: excellent work done by a very competent professional team. We recommend Gamburd without reservation. read more

My parents got their new stairlift installed just yesterday. We've all taken turns riding the chair and it's actually quicker than I thought it would be. It looks very nice as my mom picked the one to match her furniture. It's already become useful in her bringing items up and down the stairs. The company was also able to switch the remote to the other side of the chair to make it more accessible to my mom. David Hernandez helped us every step of the way and exceeded my expectations on turnaround time. What I think was most helpful was when David showed us a Gamburd stairlift as compared to the Acorn which we were also considering. He had one of their chairs in the trunk of his vehicle. Thank you so much for all the work you did to make my house accessible for my two children. My husband and I have always try to provide what's best for our children with special needs and these has been one of the best. The stairlift and accessible shower made our lives simpler and our backs happier. It was a long process but from the rep who worked with us explaining the different types of equipment and the process. We just had our Bruno chair lift installed, and David Hernandez was the Gamburd rep. We are extremely happy with it and Gamburd. We were in fairly severe need of this chair lift, and held our breath waiting for the install date. Gamburd delivered on time. There was a snag in the install but David, Gamburd's leadership, and that at Bruno all bent over backwards to get the installation completed and perfect. We simply could not be more impressed with everyone's concerns, professionalism and courtesy. The installers told me what they were doing, asked for our input when needed, walked us through use and care, and left our home spotless. We purchased a one story lift for a box style stair case in our home in Mar Vista, Los Angeles. The steps are not particularly wide where there was rail on both sides but David measured carefully and it fits the chair and rider perfectly. We got the auto foot rest lift which gives us extra space when the chair is parked at the top. We decided to upgrade carpet and flooring that would be under the chair before the installation, and we chose to "bias" our choices to blend with the rail and chair. We were inspired by the Bruno pictures to paint our stair banisters etc. white. The result not only looks very nice, bright and modern, it truly adds to the house, making us proud to have it there. IF YOU NEED A CHAIR LIFT YOU WILL NOT GO WRONG USING THIS COMPANY! THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS FANTASTIC. I broke my ankle on September 7th and had to have surgery a week later to put it back together. We have a two story home and for three weeks I was basically stuck upstairs eating breakfast, lunch and dinner because I could not navigate our stairs. Before this accident I was an extremely active person taking cardio and weight lifting five days a week and on top of that 4 days a week with Reformer Pilates. After being stuck upstairs for three weeks I decided that enough was enough and I need a chair lift NOW. It was late Friday afternoon and I looked through Google, Yelp and Angie's List and called at least three companies. I did talk to another salesperson and they stated that the earliest installation would be a week away . Then I saw Gamburd website on Angie's List which said the following: open 8am to 10pm and installation in one day! Well I did call and left a message and at 8:00 p.m. a salesperson by the name of Eydie called me back and within one hour I had an appointment to have the chair lift installed the next day (late in the afternoon). The next morning when I awoke my contract was waiting for me in the g-mail and I signed it and sent it back. Eydie called me 10 minutes later and I gave her my credit card number. Auggie (also known as Augustin) came to our house at 5 p.m. and worked until 10:00 p.m. to install this chair lift. While Auggie was here Eydie and I were texting each other about this chair lift.
