This is the second organic chicken (premium price) that I've got in a row that was STUFFED with gizzards! Today it had 2 bags of gizzards, last week it was filled with 10 chicken hearts. Stop filling them with anything besides what was in the chicken. So... pad the weight and make more money... my 3.25lbs chicken was 2.75 after removing the excess gizzards that did not belong (unless chickens have 10 hearts). read more

A huge store but surprisingly not really filled with great product . The vegetables and fruit section were filled with defeated looking produce and not a great selection of actual fresh vs packaged . The bakery seemed to have lots of sugar and sweet options but not so much bread . Big aisles of packaged procces foods and limited dairy selections . Overall it's fine but disappointed there wasn't a better quality of goods offered . read more

I have been to many pharmacies in my time. The Red Hook, New York Pharmacy is Tops (no pun intended). The pharmacy staff is well trained, caring and responsive. This is due to the leadership of Mr. Demetrios Sassos. I have been Chief of Human Resources in many places, and in that role I have frequently evaluated staff performance. I know what a quality workforce looks like when I see it. The other local pharmacies are good, but this one is outstanding. read more

If you are someone who is picky about the cleanliness of the store, then this is the place for you. The store is always well stocked and very clean. They have a great seafood and deli department. Produce is always fresh. Their meat department always has several things on sale - watch for the yellow tag items to get some good deals. I Enjoy coming here. The store has been a good addition to our community. They have gone out of their way to make their location aesthetically pleasing and I appreciate that. read more

I've been using the online shopping service of several local grocery store chains. Of the ones I'm using, I like Hannaford's the best, and I especially like picking up my groceries from the Red Hook store. The Hannford website seems to have the best inventory control. There are a few items I can't easily order online, but I'd rather their site tell me the goods aren't available in advance, as opposed to ones where the site will say, "Sure, we have it, you can order it," only to be followed by sad trombone sounds when I actually get the groceries and an unpleasant surprise. They also allow you to review the order while you're in the parking lot waiting for the groceries to be brought out. That allows you some final yea-or-nay decision making on substitutions, rather than not knowing what you'll actually get until the groceries arrive, and you get even more sad trombone. The staff at this store who handle the To Go orders are great too, very helpful and friendly. read more

Went to the pharmacy at Hannaford's in Red Hook, NY to have 4 prescriptions transferred. The woman behind the counter told me repeatedly (at least 3x) that they had a hard time getting in touch with CVS pharmacies. I said I wasn't in a rush, but she kept complaining and was trying everything she could to get me to leave. I guess they don't care about all the shopping I do there or that now, I'll be going elsewhere. The final straw was when she started reading my prescriptions out loud with other people standing right behind me. I asked her not to do that, but she kept on going. Not sure if this is a HIPAA violation, but I plan on checking with my attorney. read more

I love this Hannaford's Supermarket. I despise food shopping, but at this market, it is totally tolerable. However, the pharmacy is atrocious. I have been waiting an hour, watching others come to the window only to be told their prescription is not ready even though they were told it would be. More are not ready than are ready. It is infuriating, sitting here, waiting and waiting and waiting AND waiting. Going home is not an option as it is an hour round trip. So, I continue to wait. read more

I don't understand the complaints about this pharmacy here. Compared to other places like CVS with 30min lines and nasty employees it's a great pharmacy. They are not perfect but much,much better on all accounts compared to any place in kingston,hyde park or rhinebeck. Also that comment about them being racist is a big lie since they are LGBTQ friendly and openly celebrate black history month with several black employees. read more

i truely never write reviews but felt compelled as i just spoke with the pharmacist Tim. I have tried to work with my Dr and TIM to obtain my medications two days early. I have done everything according to the so called RULES( which i have been rudely educated on by Tim) when attempting to explain that i have been a patron of the pharmacy since they opened and that i have now lost two nights of a pre paid stay due to complying with Hannaford. Instead of attempting to validate my concern or offering assistance . He became rude and stated that if its money related (pre paid stay) that its not his issue but the owness is on the Dr. I am totally shocked and taken back by his lack of professionalism and compassion. i am a professional who works in healthcare and work to assit not shame or belittle. Glad I stopped to check on my reviews of this place. Seems I lost a review of this place I wrote back in November 2019. However, I've been having more experiences of late that I can update this place with, after my last published review was supposedly published in 2012. When I came in today, I was expecting an average shopping trip. Nothing too funky and nothing too bland. I only had to pick up a few items - had sort-of prepared a list of things to pick up via Hannaford To-Go (never put the order in) but used their cart as my own Shopping List for my experience. But what I didn't like was true one-way aisles. Although I used the new one-way aisle directions, when I encountered another customer who couldn't have cared less and almost ran over my cart and me, I went "bah humbug" and used the normal way of shopping, going around the one way shopping rule (having only had to go down 2 feet away from the main walkway where I almost got run into.) Corners are your worst enemy with one way aisles. There are many blind ones where you can't see who's coming from around the bend and that's exactly what happened in that scenario.) Register worked like normal, and having the extra benny of free paper and plastic bags is a godsend - something cheap we don't have to pay for is worthwhile - especially given these paper bags which tend to rip quicker and are cheaper for the company to make and distribute. I didn't have too many problems with working the self-checkouts today, but had to later return because I forgot one last item that no one else around this nation has - and bought the last one....disinfectant wipes (plant based, but it'll make do.) Keep the toilet paper hogs away, but I hate to admit that this place has gotten a full inventory of toilet paper in all different brands and sizes. Every time--and I mean every time -- I enter this store, I am forced to inhale some employee's cigarette smoke. The store has situated the employee smoking area directly to the right of the entrance, and they physics are such that every time those automatic doors open, they're sucking all the smoke right toward the customers. I finally said something at the CS desk last month and the woman at the counter was like: "Well, that's where the employees smoke. Where else they gonna do it?" She seemed to think there was no other option than to let the employees smoke right next to the store. But surely the management has more foresight than that? Or are the employees as truly as beaten-down and hopeless as they seem? Personally, I don't smoke. They keep the place clean and always have wipes for carts. However, I bring my own paper bags and the cashier charged me to bring my own bags. The bags didn't even say Hannaford on it. Then the cashier washed me bag all the groceries. She could have helped with some. They never help to bag. read more

Has a great selection of organic foods which is great. Staff are helpful and courteous. Store is clean and I love their book sales to help local charities. And whenever I've had any issues they are always happy to refund or come to a solution for the customer! read more

I have shopped at Hannaford's in both Kingston and Red Hook for a long time. I have always appreciated their customer service and quality of the food and produce they sell. However, much to my shock, when I went there early this morning, other customers should be aware that I found 99% of staff working without masks or any face covering, no gloves, and not adhering to distancing guidelines. The whole atmosphere felt overly casual and inconsiderate. I was wearing appropriate protective gear - to protect the staff from me - but they were not doing the same. Rather, they were potentially exposing me to the virus. I challenged the Customer Service Manager to explain the lack of masks on staff. He said, "We can't force them to buy something." Apart from the inadequacy of this response, I was shocked that Hannaford has not supplied staff with masks. If you can't force people to buy them, you can supply them and require them to wear them when serving the public. You can communicate and model what best practice is. There was no evidence of concern or any coherent policy in relation to staff protecting customers from infection through the use of masks. I will not be returning to Hannaford's in the near future, if at all, and cannot believe they have not established a store-wide policy during this pandemic. O, Hannaford! How I love thee! Let me count the ways... 1.) You are clean and bright and oh-so-well-stocked. You always have just what I need, from locally grown food to weirdo cereals I can't find anywhere else. 2.) Parking at your stores is never a hassle, as there are always plenty of spaces to go around. 3.) Your staff are reasonably friendly, fast, and efficient, and actually know where things are when I ask them for help. 4.) You don't offer those creepy Big Brother discount cards that help marketing companies (and who knows who else) track customer purchases. Instead, ALL of your prices are lower than Price Chopper's, which is where I was shopping before I knew better. 5.) You have a huge range of organic foods and cosmetics and your prices aren't scary high. I don't know how you make eating well so affordable, but you do. Please never stop! 6.) You sell these Vermont Maple Button cookies that are, in a word, amazing. And your ice cream section blows me away, especially the gelato. 7.) Your branded foods are actually somewhat healthy and not made with 329 unpronounceable ingredients. As far as convenience food goes, you do it right. There are probably many more reasons why I love Hannaford more than any other grocery store ever, but this will do for now. Pharmacy technicians are kind and helpful. As for the rennovation, it degraded their produce quality for some reason. The longevity of it in your fridge can last like 3 days depending on what you get. Tryna save money prolly so they're buying some low grade stuff. If you are a regular you will see that everything has also been moved around, so the flow of finding things got a little more difficult. There seems to be more of a 'green' selection which is cool, but some things that I use to get have been removed completely which is lame. I want my thick crust California Pizza! I was harassed at this Hannaford by an employee named Lynn. I was buying alcohol and showed her my ID. I am from Virginia, it's a Virginia ID. I fully understand red hook is near a college, and they are cognizant of underage drinkers. However, I showed my legal ID, as well as my credit card with my name on it. Lynn argued with me that she would not accept my ID because it was a vertical ID. I showed two forms of ID and this woman refused to serve me and threatened to call the manager on me. For what? Giving you my legal ID? If I had the time I would've happily, but at this point I decided to take my business elsewhere. I'm genuinely not sold on this place altogether. Everything seems more expensive than let's say Walmart and they charge you a fee for them to bring the merchandise out to your car on a sliding scale depending on how much you spend whereas Walmart doesn't charge to bring it to your vehicle. I was taken by an employee the one time I went there cause I usually use Walmart which brings the stuff out but also bags it into your car. The Hannaford employee brought the stuff out and I guess I wasn't moving fast enough for her cause she said "well ya gonna put the stuff in the car or not" Now I mean it seems you are paying 50 cents to a dollar more an item on what I bought, getting charged a fee to have them bring it to your car so you can load it yourself so you would think the premium you are paying would not get you an attitude with your merchandise. I have gone there maybe 5 times in the past year and most of the people have been very nice. I did have 1 person say don't I get a tip for bringing the stuff out. Their website says "Please, no tips for Hannaford To Go pickup orders. It is our pleasure to provide this service to you, our valued customer. Your return business, recommendation to friends and family, and thanks are the best tip we can receive. I guess for convenience they are ok and they do carry quality items but I'm thinking I'll pay the toll over the bridge to save the $20 to $40 difference for driving a couple of extra miles. read more

I like Hannaford in general, however; I relied on their webpage for hours of operation (as so many people as well as the elderly) and needless to say, I am now sitting in the parking lot waiting for them to open!! This happened to my parents not long ago when they to saw the website and drove 14 miles to sit in the parking lot for almost an hour. Normally this wouldn't perturb me so intently, but when your dog gets sprayed by a skunk and you need supplies, and you check the website, you would like it to be correct. Should I have called first,? Yes. But I shouldn't have had to. If your going to change your hours don't put a small sign up on the window, change your website as well. A good...let me rephrase this..the best supermarket in Red Hook to shop at. The vegetables are more fresh than the one at IGA and the pricings are way lower than IGA. Most of my friends work here so it's all good! All friendly people and if you mention a conflict like the oil spill, they'll defenitely support you and add on what they think about it. They have everything you can possibly think of! It's like a Wal-Mart but it's Hannaford! And you don't have to pay a dollar to cross a bridge(unless you're coming from the west side of the river)! The only problems I ever had with them is the bottle machine section where you recycle your glass, cans, and plastics. When they fill up, there is no immediate assistance. You have to ring a doorbell to get them to come and empty and that can take up to half an hour!!! And if you ring it more than once, they'll get annoyed and tell you to stop ringing it and give an excuse why no one can assist you at the moment. Also, they are strict with the 250 bottles limit. They literary kick you out when you reach that limit. That's why you lose one star. Overall...excellent place to shop! read more

I choose Hannaford over any other grocery shop and instead when I have to go anywhere else. Prices see the prices and there aren't any sale schemes. No need for coupons for posted or special prices. Prices ring up always as posted. Food is fresh and they have a great selection of special exotic and ethnic food basics to make any dish. Organic and gluten free options are plenty as I am allergic to wheat and my child to dairy they offer several brands of each gluten free item. I rarely shop the middle but it seems to have a great selection of mainstream products with healthy and healthy versions. Bakery and hot food and wing bar are yummy, made fresh and isn't reheated food. Now, staff and cleanliness are the most visible difference here. Staff here are all very pleasant. Their uniforms and grooming are professional and they are friendly and effective and very knowledgeable. They are very friendly-did I say they already? That is something you don't see see at ops or stop n shop and I've heard it is because it is a merit employment job site not a guaranteed union gig. Not to mention the contrast of bathroom cleanliness. At 8 am or noon tomorrow n Saturday or closing their bathrooms are always spotless. The pharmacy hands down is the best, ever. Shelby, Tim and Ashley are amazing. I have chronic conditions and Shelby always researches any side effects I may be getting or provides her professional advice. She has many time left envelopes for me in research she finds for my situation and the meds I'm taking. For produce and other products you can always special order and they have a website for additional bulk and specialty products. My only complaint is they stop carrying items sometimes I like because they don't sell enough but if I want they will order. The self checkout always works! I don't think I have to ever call a staff member. I drive past other closer shops just to go to hannaford. I'm glad they r here! read more

The aisles are tiny, the employees are rude, newspapers had been pre-read so the inners had to be recollated with the paper to get a complete one. My father won't even get fresh coldcuts because the staff are such ridiculous aholes! I have only had one experience at this Hannford's location, but it wasn't a good one (to say the least). After church my mother broke her shoe lace so we stopped by on our way home to pick up a new one. It was a simple thin black shoelace of standard nature but, NO they didn't seem to have any.
