They came out, provided quotes, but were not licensed with the state. Jean Paul responded with a price and what was included. After a little back and forth, I asked him to inspect the job in person, which he did. He confirmed his price, and submitted an official quote. I was able to obtain our permit, HOA approval, verify JPQ Construction and Jean Paul were both licensed with Maryland state, as well verify the company's liability insurance. Other than a small hiccup with the start date due to not contacting Miss Utility, this project went really well. Jean Paul and his team are really nice to work with, did great work, and insures his work. We will work with him again!

His crew are generally good folks who do good work. His prices are comparable or better than most other renovation companies. We're mostly happy with the two projects he's done in our home. The Cons: Dave is often slow to respond to phone calls/emails and sometimes doesn't respond at all. We had to remind him to finish some aspects of our projects and -- six months later -- still haven't had some small elements finished (sealed holes in drywall, trim piece installed, etc.). I've been told by his workers that Dave will make you the center of attention until he has a better job come along and then you will be placed on the back burner; my experience verifies that to be true. They did a poor job cleaning up. All in all, you can get good work done by Dave and Summit Renovations. However, make sure you are very specific about what you want, when you want it, and then hold him to finishing the project as promised.

Their initial quote is always competitive, however, as the work makes progress, you will find many things that were not included in the original estimate. Therefore, if you're not knowledgeable enough, your final quote might end up being much higher than the initial estimate. For example: we paid almost 10K+ to remodel one room and they left one wall unfinished because they said it was not included (we thought it was). So make sure you have all the nitty gritty details written down in your estimate to avoid confusion later. Also, their work hasn't stood the test of time. We noticed many things have started to fall apart not too long after the work was completed - example : our LVP is peeling off in low traffic areas, leakage under the shower door and under sink, multiple door hinges have already broken, the floor has uneven spots despite paying extra to flatten it, etc. The work looks nice in the beginning but after a while you'll start noticing where they made compromises to make it "affordable". In terms of communication, they are pretty responsive. We haven't had major issues with Alexa, Sam, Camilo, Dan other than occasional misalignment between everyone.
