PS I recommend purchasing the lifetime retainers policy In the event you lose them or get dental work (caps, the original retainers won't fit). RECOMMENDATION: Order 2 sets of permanent retainers immediately when your braces are removed. 1 I lost the first set 1 week after my braces were removed, while attending my son's wedding! Unfortunately my teeth shifted a bit before the replacement set arrived. I ordered 2 sets to have a backup set to avoid this mishap again. Good luck everyone! Finally, the time came for me to look into Invisalign so I booked a consultation to see if it was the right fit for me. After scheduling a time and completing the mountain of documents needed before the appointment, I went in for my consultation in the middle of June. The process did not get off to a good start. I was left waiting in the lobby for a good bit after my appointment start time. I could do without the freaky party music playing in the lobby while you wait but maybe I'm just being a grumpy old man. Nonetheless, once the ball got rolling, things started to brighten up. They took photos of me smiling from just about every angle so make sure to get dolled up before the appointment. From there, I got x-rays done of my teeth and then they mapped out my mouth and teeth in 3-D using a magic wand. After all the test and scans were out of the way, Doctor Avey introduced himself and outlined what the plan would be for my Invisalign. I was shown a rendered before and after of my teeth, an explanation of the process of Invisalign, and he told me the anticipated timeframe. After this, I was left with the office manager, Valentino, to talk billing. He laid out all the options I could use to pay for the Invisalign. I was already planning on paying in full to get the 10% discount. I usually do not like to make such big purchases on the day of so I opted to put a down payment and sleep on it which Valentino was very respectful of. My trays were ready about 3 weeks later so I went in for my second visit. I completed the rest of the payment and I was taken to the back where they immediately began to put the composite attachments on my teeth. From there, they fitted me for my first tray and showed me how to properly handle the trays. At this point, Doctor Avey came in to do a final check and then I was sent on my way with 20 weeks worth of trays. The whole process should take about a year but I figured with the initial stage complete, I could go ahead and make up my mind about this place. All the staff was really kind and talkative throughout the process, which made me feel more comfortable. For some reason, all the staff have very nice teeth and they are always smiling. There is modern, clean equipment throughout the office. Doctor Avey seems to be very knowledgable about his craft which makes it very easy to trust him with your teeth. My whole treatment cost about $6,000 which seems to be around the average for Orthodontist in the Carolinas. It is definitely an investment and can feel overwhelming in the beginning, but I am glad to have started the process and I look forward to the results. I do not have any experience with any other orthodontist but I am glad I was able to get treatment through Doctor Avey.

In my opinion they did not properly evaluate my condition and should have never recommended that I…read morewas a candidate for orthodontics. I expressed my concerns at the beginning that I was worried orthodontics could cause my preexisting, but stable for 10+ years, periodontal disease to worsen. Especially gum recession and loose teeth. They assured me that the risk was low as long as it was stable. I trusted their medical assessment and decided to continue, that was a big mistake. I followed the plan to the T, always brushing a flossing after eating and washing the trays. 14 weeks later at my next dentist visit, my condition had degraded. I had new gum recession and 5mm gum pockets on many teeth, where previously they were 3mm. This caused me to have to get root scaling by my dentist in my whole mouth. Even after this news, Dr. Dover wanted to continue with Invisalign. I said no way, I'm done. Several months later and my teeth are still loose and have not solidified. I had a consultation with my periodontist, when I told him they recommended orthodontics, he just shook his head and said it's known that it can accelerate bone loss in periodontal disease. Especially Invisalign trays which can harbor bacteria. He also said after gum pockets reach 5mm, root scaling efficiency goes down to 35%, so it won't do much good. So now I just wait for my teeth to fall out and probably a bunch of future surgeries. Oh and the first week on Invisalign, I had to go to the ER because of a reaction to the plastic.

The week before this cleaning, I went to dental office and asked receptionist to make a note on our file "not to add any additional CHARGES that were not paid for by our insurance company". After receiving bill, went to office & was told it had NOT been added to file & she mentioned "as you see employees were no longer There. I don't believe in inflating customer bills without their acceptance of procedure & pricing. NOT HAPPY!
